I found out that if after you switch off the engine you can pull the full beam stick twice and it actives the headlights for about 30 to 60 seconds to light your way home when it's dark. Great for these long dark nights.

Yeah really useful. I find that the wiper arms make contact with the bonnet at their down position anyway, so it's great for changing the blades.
In a couple of days I will get my new Qashqai. Still I am watching your videos since there may be similarities.

I got the 1.2 digi t 2014 plate bought second hand in 2017 Tekna Dan and it’s now got oil consumption issues and needs a new timing chain ( or in reality a new engine). It’s been in dealership for 4 month while we work out a resolution. I thought it was the bees knees till 2018 when the oil issues started. It’s not put me off I am looking at another today. I like you said in the other video about park assist. Avoid the 1.2 digi t engine. Great advice

I had to let it go today £9500 up the creak. It’s the biggest mistake of my life ( so far anyway). I test drove the 1.4 2015 diesel dci today Tekna spec amazing. I had to come to the realisation in the current climate that I can’t afford it. I gotta say it hurts 😫. I wish I had took the time to research the 1.2 digi t engine earlier.
Press and hold the Day/Night button and you will get a large clock instead of the satnav map or radio.
Press and hold the Call Button on the steering wheel and it will activate your voice assistant on your phone. This is excellent for sending txt messages whilst driving. Not sure this works on the facelift J11 but it worked on my 2014 when I had it.
Interesting you mentioned the engine management light. Mine came on after years of other faults so I got rid of it in the end. Think mine was a Friday car as it spent more time in the garage than it did on the road. I couldn't wait to get rid of it in the end :(
Pressing and holding ☀️/🌙 to show the clock and 📞 to activate voice assistant was implemented back in the J10

Did not know the wiper one will use next time I change my wiper blades. I have often wondered what that alarm button did. I also found if you have a key left in the car and you try to lock it, it will not let you if you have the other key

With your charger wire its squashed. Just behind the gear stick.Where you lift the lid up theres 2 groove bits you can line your wire there thats what i do...hope that makes sense lol

Hi. If you look at the cables coming out of the centre arm rest. One has a kink in it. To stop this there are 2 channels next to the one on the drivers side to put your cables in and stop the kinking.
Yeah we are aware of that but I think it's got caught a few times.
Tekna j11 owners, what material are the car seats made of and what cleaning products do you use, please? I tried one for leather car seats from a well known brand but didn't like the result - the seats looked too shiny. Wrong match perhaps?
In the centre console, what is the recess for next to the cigarette lighter socket?

Having had 2 teknas a j10 and a j11
The only thing that disappointed , was the general lack of interior ambient lighting (the red led around the gear lever on the j11 apart) even the passenger window switches were not lit.
And the j10 not having folding/ opening mirrors with locking unlocking the car,and auto open or close windows when opening or locking the car (both fixed on the j11) but they are doable with 2 aftermarket modules and a little DIY.
Oh and the j11 tekna loosing the amp under the drivers seat and the subwoofer in the boot (for cost cutting I guess).

It's been a few years since I added it but, if I remember right it's a small box that connects into your existing wiring harness.
Plenty of videos on you tube,just make sure it's the correct type of qashqai (j10 or j11)
there is alert section and when you enter it says timer. you can put 30 min or 1 h. what is it for ?
Also too add when you did the armrest lift for the charge wires did you know there are runner grooves at the front of the arm rest to guide your wires in so they dont get pinched and flattened like yours are :)

I have a 2017 or 2018 model. Although it is right hand drive like yours, the wipers control is on the left and headlamps on the right

Hi- quick request… I managed to turn off the Automatic wiper somehow getting in or out of car. I can’t figure out what I’m meant to turn or flick to get it back on automatic!? I flicked it down to automatic…what I thought it might be, but they stayed on it wasn’t raining!! Do you have a video that shows that setting by any chance please?
Hi,yeah it should be the first click down. Try pushing it all the way up which should spring back as it's single wipe. Then go down one click. You may need to adjust the sensitivity with the secondary part of the stalk.

Hi. Quick question, not quite related to the video but is qashqai related. Can you put an R16 space saver wheel on to a qashqai that normal has R18 wheels/tyre? I’m finding a few bits that say it’s ok and some that say hmmmm 🤷♂️
I'm not 100% certain but I believe so.
Obviously the space saver is designed as a quick, temporary fix to get you home/to the garage for repairs.
The 2020 keyless entry model has a three button handset. Top and middle buttons are for lock and unlock but what is the third button for with the little lines on it ??
Hi Gerry. The third button does nothing. I think Nissan use the same key design as other models where the third button is to open and close the electric tailgate.

Can I add to your tips? The fitting of external bought ancillaries to a Qashqai. My QQ is a 2008 model. I've had three years of trouble free driving until I fitted a hardwired dashcam into it a year ago. The fitted was perfect, the dashcam worked. After a few months, my QQ alarm started going off for no reason, four way flashers going, and this would go on and off for up to 15 - 20 minutes, and I could still drive the car with all that going on if I wanted, the immobiliser never kicked in. This happened irregularly, no rhyme or reason! Nissan stated it could be the NATS wiring harness or bonnet/boot/door catches and that the car would need to come in for testing (costing how much?!?!). The Nissan forums stated problems such as the internal pressure sensor setting the alarm off (but why not immobilising the car then, I could still drive it with the siren going off), damp conditions within the cabin space messing with the NATS module (my Nissan does suffer horrific condensation in winter) and many other reasons why this would happen. I've tried loads of different things (don't try disconnecting the car battery, the NATS immobiliser has an internal battery all if its own, the siren will still sound). The eureka moment came from a US forum. Seems someone over the pond suffered the same problem, and his local garage told him to disconnect everything within the car that wasn't factory fitted including USB ports, hardwired/cigarette lighter powered dashcams, anything that wasn't factory fitted. See if the problem persists, if not, add the ancillaries one by one until the problem starts again. It was the hardwired dashcam causing the problem. It was plugged into a fuse slot that was supposed to draw no power with the ignition switched off, but it WAS drawing so many amps, not enough to kill the battery, but enough for the fickle NATS system to sound the alarm, flash the four way lights and still be drivable. It fitted the situation. Parked up on a Friday, not to be driven until Monday, alarm would start sounding Sunday night, early Monday morning. So I've disconnected my dashcam when not driving. A pain but it seems to be working. No more siren blaring.
So the hard wire kit caused the issues?
@@TheQashqaiGuy Yes, and no. The hardwire kit works and works well with the dashcam WHEN the car is turn on and ticking over. When the car is switched off the fuse port the hardwire was plugged into was supposed to be dead, but was still supplying a few amps to the dashcam battery. My QQ is 13 years old. Yours is younger. If you look at the various Nissan forums you'll see many many comments on the Nissan NATS and how fickle it can be and across Nissans of all ages. I just happen to be unlucky that my QQ NATS system doesn't like voltage been drained when the car is parked and switched off. Great channel by the way.
Oh ok, I've put a hardwire kit on mine. I'll keep an eye on it.
Aha, the alarm on my Pulsar went off for the first time at the weekend, and I do have a dashcam that I hard wired into the cigar socket fuse, so that it runs for a minute or so after turning off the ignition. I wonder if that was the cause? If it happens again I'll wire it into a different fuse.
@@terryrush1425 If you have a volt meter you can see which fuse socket doesn't draw power when the ignition is switched off. Give that a try.

I was looking at one today. T had a button on the rear view mirror. What’s this for?
If it was underneath the mirror itself then that would be the auto dim feature.
At night it dims to stop you getting dazzled by cars behind.

Just want to ask ; looks like rear windows and boot window are originally tinted. Is there anyway to stripe/remove them or all the windows has to be removed and replaced

Hi Dan, I just dropped a small piece of plastic (back of the air vent adjuster) in the front air vent and now it's disappeared in to abyss. I have checked my air conditioner and that still works OK. Do you think it will just sit somewhere and not cause any damage 😕
Don't think it'll be a problem. Just might rattle
If you feel up to it I think the vents unclip from the dashboard.
@@TheQashqaiGuy yeah I am planning to have a go to remove the vents to have a look but the clip has actually fallen in the duct I think :-( doesn't seem to be rattling so hopefully should be OK as you said :-)

Hi Suzie, the icons under the time are the different assists you have on.
Blind spot assist, emergency brake assist and lane departure warning (I don't have that on)

When starting your qashqai and your key fob battery is getting flat you can touch the press button start with the key fob and it will recognize it

How do you use cruise control🙂
The press the cruise button, then use the right up/down switch to set speed.
You can then adjust speed with the same switch and press cancel to stop it, pressing the brake pedal will also cancel it.
Hi Dan I've just bought 2015 Qashqai 1.5L tried to use the satnav tried to put the post code in but couldn't get the numbers to come up also tried to pair an iPhone but that didn't happen do I have to use a USB lead to pair what the hell am I doing wrong never had this prob with any other car any chance you can point me in the right direction and does it make any difference living in Ireland thanks in advance. Hmmm that's strange.
Satnav - the numbers should be above the letters, I think it requires a space too so like abc123de wouldn't work, if would have to be abc12 3de
Iphone wise it should just connect using Bluetooth (if it's the same as mine) so go to settings, bluetooth/phone and pair new phone

Many thanx for doing the vid. There were a few things that I found useful.
I have just bought a 2nd hand 2016 Qashqai Connecta.
I have the same problem re the No's in the Sat Nav.
When I press the 123/abc button it just scrolls through a bunch of different type lettering screens but no No's
So if I want to put in the post code or put the house No before the address it doesn't seem to go to the No's.
I don't suppose you can help or if anyone else can help with this as it's very frustrating.
Also re Stop/Start whilst idle at lights etc...
It says in the manual that there should be an "auto circle icon" in the bottom of the driver info little screen when it is active yet I don't see that.
If I press the "auto off button beside driver's right knee that icon shows up ok. Also when I turn the car off it shows the co2 etc... info so it seems to be active but I don't hear the engine stop and start.
I don't suppose you have any idea what is happening and could help?
I would appreciate any assistance you can give me or possibly a site which has other little tips I can visit.

My rear camera goes blurred at times any idea why is it so and it resumes to normal vision all by itself any hints
I have the same problem sometimes, seems to only happen when it's been raining. I'd guess there's a loose wire somewhere or the camera itself has a fault.
Others have replaced the camera which seems to do the trick, so maybe try that?

I can confirm that the 12v plug at the front is always on, unfortunaly confirmed that when non-led christmas light thing was left plugged in for 12 hours and battery was dead.
Is yours a UK model? Very odd as others have found it does go off after a short while.

I’ve got a tekna sport 2018, love it but a few things drive me mad!
The Bluetooth aux. Takes so much fiddling about to get it to play music from my phone, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t, the play button just doesn’t respond even when it’s obviously playing on my phone but no sound 😫
The loudness of the parking bleeps 😩
The touchscreen when I’m trying to change radio channels 😩
I have the same issue with Bluetooth playback.
You can adjust the volume of the sensor beeps from the parking assistance menu on the dash display.
In my limited experience it has to do with the bluetooth on your phone. I have a problem with my Nokia 7.2 where the audio wont occasionally play and I've found the quickest way to fix that is to turn the bluetooth on the phone off and on. Temporarily using a LG Q7 which doesn't have that issue but will play garbled for the first 5 seconds any time the car is started.
I theorize that it might be an issue of different bluetooth versions, the bluetooth adapter in the car not playing nicely with phones that have bluetooth 5 or newer.
P.s. 2016 Qashqai Tekna
I had similar issue but what I have learnt is that if your phone is connected to the car via Bluetooth then play tracks on the phone and if it doesn't come on the patiently press AUX button once and again. That worked for me, by pressing twice it switches from Aux cable mode to the phone. And now even if I don't play anything on the phone and just press the Aux button when I get in the car and connected it starts playing where I left last time. Press Aux to turn off or switch to cable mode.
I have a J10 and the temprature continues to flash when its under 6 degree's any idea how to disable it? I notice yours is 4c and not flashing. I can't seem to find a solution anywhere.... Thank You
I think that maybe the ice warning? On the j11 it shows a blue snowflake.

Never knew what that alien button was for! Do you have issues with the DAB or Bluetooth audio? Ours just cuts off intermittently. Drives us MAD!
Hi Peter. There was an update for this that Nissan will do free of charge. Ask your local dealer. It fixed mine.

I've got a 2015 Qashqai and I think I've done something via settings whereby I can't open the passenger door from the inside any help PLEASE
Check your driver's door buttons, also in settings there's unlock options somewhere
Can somebody explain to me how to get my jump leads out of the boot when the battery is flat and the electrics don't work??
I was getting flat batteries on my two year old Qashqai, there is a known issue with the original batteries, it was changed under warranty to a Varta brand heavy duty.
Or for boot access only, unlock your car doors with the manual key, pull forward the rear seat back to access inside the boot.
Auto handbrake starts to not work if you've got a poor stop start bat.

I am unable to play my music and I get a message that it doesn’t support this USB format, do you know how to fix it ? And can I not play music using Bluetooth via my phone?
I'd say format your memory stick into fat32 and try again.
Have you got your phone connected via Bluetooth for calls? Is your stereo a connect 3 like in the video?
I had another older USB which worked ! I think newer versions are not supported or the software in my car needs to be updated . My Bluetooth connects fine but I can only hear phone calls.. I think I need to download n connecta app and then try to play music through the app.
The app no longer works I'm afraid.
@@dushmahajan in the menu activated on your steering wheel pick bluetooth as a source of music and you will be able to listen to any music your phone is playing not just phone calls

Hi Gary, I think it uses the same accessory port used by the puddle lights (in one of my videos)
To be honest, I'd recommend installing led footwell lights as cheaper and do the same thing.

Anyone got any idea how i can sleep in my car without the motion sensor going off? I have a 2012 J10 facelift model and don't have a motion sensor button near the interior light panel.

Dan Smith No it a single beep, sometimes multiple times but as far as i see totally random, I did think it was trafic cones and road works signs, but it didnt do it at the next set. When test drove it on Bendy Cumbrian roads, I noticed it, but the sales man said its probably the lane warning. Its not worrying just cant fathom it out. You can go for miles and nothing then suddenly a beep, no warning lights or messages. A mystery!
My second Qashqai, had an original, 1.6 petrol, wanted a 2.0 diesel next, but Nissan couldnt get emissions, ended up being told by VW “we have no problems with emissions” (yeah, okay) and bought a tiguan, nice car but always wanted a Qashqai back

Sports steering just firms up the steering feel. Nothing else.
As for the beeps, there are so many possible things it could be.
Maybe turn off all assists and POI beeps and see if it stops.
Is this all have in tekna? Is this facilities haven’t in acenta premium
This is in a 2014 tekna yes.

I think park assist won't be on acenta premium. Not certain 360 camera is either! I think acenta is bottom spec, maybe acenta premium has a few extra features.

Maybe worth checking with Nissan UK call centre to see if yours has had the update that came out.
why is there persistent auto on/off fault displayed
On yours? Could be a low battery. Stop/start won't work if your battery capacity is low.

Some of the qashqai were fitted with a poor battery from factory. I can't remember the brand name but it is a common fault. The battery can't put up with the stop/start system.

@@TheQashqaiGuy flies buzzing in passenger vent. Noisey steering wheel when cold. Rear door window trim comes loose. Needed super glue to glue back in 1" long plastic trim end. Squeaky front driver's seat.

@@TheQashqaiGuy only 30.000 on the clock. Common on all qashqais. Also have weak front suspension. Wear tyres very quickly too.

Had Pirellis on all 4 tyres that lasted 20k miles on the front, rears still got good life left. Guess you're out of warranty
