Great additions! I always like to look through the comments to get the quick list too. lol. So I always appreciate people like you that will take the time to do it.
I buy from Azure Standard, local farmers & ranchers. I do have 4 patriot’s 3 month supply for each of us in our house. I love Redmond salt. I have a Mennonite store that I love to shop and eat lunch at. I have 6 hens, garden boxes ( 4ft. X 12 ft.) and a very stocked freezer. I’m learning to bake bread and rolls. Made a potato cellar with an aluminum trash can ,dug a hole the size of the can making the top of the can even with ground. I put dry straw inside put my potatoes in ,straw on top , then put the aluminum lid on top & securing it. I then covered it with another layer of straw. I hung onions in our garage that doesn’t have heat. I chopped & froze my bell peppers in sever different serving bags. I cut fries and froze them. I cute up sweet potatoes and froze them. We have 6 propane bottles for our gas grill. Also a huge container of all sizes of batteries. I do have most of your list. I have plenty of soap for laundry, bathing, and dishwashing.. Lots of tp & paper towels. Water sterilization straws and bottles. Still a work in progress.
Also, I've been intermittent fasting for almost two years. I've learned I'm less hungry doing this. In other words not triggering the insulin wards off the hunger!
Flour, yeast, sugar, canned meat, beef jerky, water, pasta, meds, canned soups, canned vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, dry milk, dry eggs, you can store eggs for up to a year in brine, we actually did this for 6 months then ate them they were perfect. Thank you for sharing your video people need to be prepared.
Thank you for sharing. Your list is so helpful! Many people have not started or still wondering what worse they may need to add to their preps and you made it simple. Many of us coming together like this can help others.
We loose our power in winter all the time. These things i keep on hand, Baby wipes, water, matches, flash lights oil lamps and oil, wicks, paper plates and cups. Always keep up with laundry. Extra dog food. Peanut butter, canned beans, tuna.
Yup! We're in the same boat with frequent winter power issues. We keep all of your list, plus a couple of propane Buddy Heaters. A few years back it was -20 during the day, we only lost power for 2 hours, but boy did the temp inside drop quick. 😲
I just used Manuka honey to cover my Shingles rash. It helped with the itching and after 3 days of being on antibiotic and the honey most of the rash was gone.
Thanks for the list--we have started preparing. Pork In Beans, any can meats like tuna, yeast, flour, nut packages (buy in your dollar store) dried milk. Here ARE 3 things you need to have that is not food--learned from my dad as we lived in Hurricane Ally my whole childhood. Two 50 gallon tin garage cans one for water to flush and the other to have water to drink. If THINGS START GOING CRAZY, FILL THE TIN TRASH CANS UP QUICKLY--WATER COULD BE TURNED OFF---DURING Hurricane Camille it was 5 weeks before we had electricity/water. The next thing is a fire extinguisher---the fire department is not coming! If someone tries to set your land on fire or if there is a lighting fire. NEXT THE LITTLE SOLAR LIGHTS THE DOLLAR STORE HAS OR THE BIG BOX STORE HAS---PUT THESE OUT IN YOUR YARD AND THEN USE THEM AT NIGHT. Know where you warm clothes are and blankets.
You can plant the beans you buy in the grocery store!! I've planted red kidney beans, and cannelli beans last week! I opened a bag of each, let a handful of seeds soak overnight, and planted. This week, they've already sprouted!!! Today i measured, they are over an inch tall!! Think outside the box! No need to spend $4 for a package of seeds, getting a minescule number of seeds, when you can simply plant seeds from the produce you buy at the store. Leftover seeds can be dried, used in the future...just sayin....
My friend told me to put a folded paper towel on top of my large jar of coffee, I scooped it into an airtight container and popped the paper on and it's been over a year and it's still perfectly fine so I put folded paper towels on everything now. ❤
Sandy, this is a very important podcast. So many ppl totally have their heads in the sand. I've been stocking up for years and continue to do so. We also got a generator for our home and our cabin. I think peanut butter is a great source bc of the satiation factor. I have a lot of freeze dried coffee too. 😃
Hello!! I hope you’ve been well. I agree. Peanut butter is a great source of protein and energy for our bodies. I believe when I felt God give me the urge years ago to stock up is because it takes time to do so. Now you and I can have peace of mind
Great info for all of us, and especially those who look at the country and world and think all is ok. Way to open eyes, thank you Sandy ❤ Flour, sourdough starter
Thank you so much Sandy. I am definitely preparing. Thank you for this valuable information! I’ve always loved your channel! Our god is so good he will sustain us through what is coming! God Bless
I think we are using the wisdom God gave us to be able to take care of our families. We that read the Bible know that things are not going to get better. Thanks for your encouragement! I appreciate it!
Grind the popcorn, yes it does makes great cornbread but you need a grinder that will grind popcorn. Not all grinders do and they suggest not to use the same one you grind you coffee beans with! Also white vinegar along with the cider vinegar. With white vinegar you can clean and disinfect with. When you get beans, if you don't have the energy to cook them being stored won't do you much good either without tons of precious stored energy (hopefully included in your food storage plan) and the time (some things may be very sudden) to cook them. Hence make to can a few of those stored beans so that they are immediately available to eat and grind a few of those grains too! Blessings. Thank you!
Good advice. I also have a pressure cooker in addition to my pressure canner. People keep buy electric gadgets like instant pots but they will do no good without electricity and when you are burning that fuel you want to cook the least possible amount of time. Soak the beans over night, rinse then cook about 30 to 45 minutes.
I would say to add canned meat for long-term storage like tuna and chicken. I also have some canned beef and canned pork, things that you can eat right out of the can if you don’t have electricity.
I am not sure what to do with raw cocoa powder. Will you enlighten me? I’m trying to raise awareness without raising it so much that YT starts censoring me more than they already are.
This past year, I have been making pantry ingredients only meals from scratch. All items that can be stored long term. Keep the recipes we like and stock up when on sale. Don't forget baking items either. When you get rice and flour, throw them in the freezer for 72 hours, then mylar bag them for the long term. Amish stores have manual grain grinders as well as the wheat berries. They last a long time. Yeast kept in bulk in the freezer goes way beyond the expiration date. I could go on and on. Lol
Honey can be used as medicine too. Make a garlic and honey ferment. That stuff is good when you're sick or just for keeping your immune system in good shape. Has to be raw honey though.
@sandysteinbrook The Great Pyrenees dog, Casper, from Georgia, who fought and killed at least 8 coyotes had serious wounds that included having some of the skin on his back near his neck and shoulders peeled off. I was surprised to learn the vet's who treated him used only Manuka honey to heal him.
I recommend watching Wendy DeWitt on food storage. She has a simple system where you come up with menus and work from there. Otherwise, it’s hit or miss on what you will need. Also, most people don’t realize the impact of the war in Ukraine is going to have on us. Most of the fertilizer in the world comes from Russia & Ukraine. We have a big garden and we’ve switched to liquid sea kelp. We’re also establishing worm breeding beds in each of our gardening beds.
Comfrey and weeds steeped in water make a good free weed tea. Comfrey can be grown from seeds. My plants are a year old and are huge already. Also people should learn to forage wild plants for medicine, salves and first aid.
You are so right! You’re being wise and thinking ahead. I keep trying to learn new recipes for my sourdough starter. I’ve learned an easy bread recipe now. Sourdough is laugh good nutrition for the gut.
That is great. Be careful though. Flour can go bad sooner than you might expect. Rotation through your stores, using the oldest flour first will help counter this issue.
Water and water purification. We have a Big Berkey. Invest in a generator in case the power goes out. With winter coming up, it’s something to seriously consider. Also get propane tanks, non-ethylene fuel and a fuel stabilizer if you have a duel or flex fuel generator. Power banks for phones and alternative heating and cooking. We ran an electric Eden Pure Heater off our generator (invest in the correct extension cords for your generators) we also have a Mr Heater Big Buddy that runs off propane tanks. Be sure you have a carbon monoxide detector. Butane cook stoves are great for indoors… stock up on butane cartridges. Try and stock up on your preferred proteins (Keystone meats are great)and add a variety of sides. Canned goods are affordable, instant potatoes, rice, pasta and spaghetti sauce. Knorr Alfredo sauce is a great alternative. Who doesn’t like Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and broccoli? Instant puddings and Jellos are great morale boosters. You can’t go wrong with Oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, Pancake mix, and comfort foods during difficult times. It’s very important to have multivitamins and First Aid Supplies too. Take the time to ensure you have all the things to meet your needs. ❤
Canned fish is a great idea. Canned meat will last for a long time. In my pot... is a type of fern that grows upright. It goes every year in my big pots.
We have ALL of the above and IF you can afford it, some of those 25yr shelf life products/ meals. Off Amazon Ive gotten dried egg powder, butter that you just have to reconstitute with water. We bought 30 day supply of freezed dried meals for our family just for extra piece of mind.
Hi! I hadn't watched your channel before, but I like it and I subscribed! Several things I've picked up from others: 1) Use a plastic or wooden utensil with honey! Metal reacts negatively with the good-for-you elements in honey! 2) Along with beans and rice, store canned salmon, tuna and sardines (Haven't quite wrapped my brain around sardines!) That's so you get omega-3 fatty acids! 3) Feminine products 4)Powdered milk 6)Pet food and supplies 7)Store important documents in fireproof envelopes. Cash!! 8)Heirloom seeds so you can grow your food next year 9)Search online for how to make Crisco candles and a heat source from clay pots! Just in case! 10)First aid kit, extra prescriptions & OTC meds and whatever you need to operate medical equipment
Can get grits which is already ground up and it is a corn also. Grits, maize, hominy, corn are all in the same family. I personally don’t like popcorn because the pieces get stuck in teeth quite easily. Whereas grits you can make it into a porridge which is like a comfort food for me. If you don’t have anything to cook the grits in, you can let it soak in water until edible
Great info. If you haven't heard of Azure Standard, check them out online. They can ship but they also have semi that comes to homes all over the US you can find all the info online. Thanks for sharing. From small to large bulk items.
Dehydrated onions, whole peppercorns.. Also grass fed lard and tallow, beneficial nutrients and can be stored in the freezer for several years.. Can also be water bath or pressure canned..
Great additional items. The dehydrated onions is something I had not thought of. That’s a really great idea for me to go get. We like onions in our food.
i live in the high desert, we have pomegranite trees, rosemary and sage bushes and basil, arugula, chard, sweet peas, melons and squashes...the growing seasons are backwards here lol...
I also love Mountain Rose Herbs tea and buy the one pound bag once I find a flavor I like. I warm my honey in the sun, some recommend putting it on your car dashboard, I put it in my windowsill that gets direct sun.
After my grandmother passed we took a lot of her food storage popcorn was one thing we took she died 2007 we’re still eating the popcorn for and not sure how long she had it is but fine!
Yes! Honey does not spoil. It crystallizes, but does not spoil. Just heat it up slowly in warm water, and it will be good to go keeping all the nutrients. Raw honey is what you want.
Hi Sandy, I found this really interesting and would have guessed honey rice and beans, but not the other. Thanks too for the super knowledgeable extra points about honey and salt I didnt know.I'll be sure to pick up some better salt today instead of the bleached stuff as I just began using salt when I was in hospital I thought it was bad for me and caused heart problems so I eliminated it but that was wrong. But yeah, this was a great video and I like how you give a variety of topics. I maybe would have stored canned fruits or corned beef for emergencies? thanks again 🙂
Thank you, Carol! I really appreciate this. I am going to link the video I did on using salt to make a natural electrolyte and how good the salt is for our bodies. God made it for a reason beyond flavoring food. ua-cam.com/video/-OXbwyba4Mg/v-deo.html
Also pasta every kind. Buy rice but put it in the freezer and let air dry before you store it. Kills larvae. Also some suggest heating it in open jars the seal. Mylar bags are great to store things and oxygen absorbers. Nuts also do great if you dry heat them first in canning jars.
Don't forget you got to have something to cook with. I just bought a gosun solar cooker and as long as theirs sun i can cook. I can cook just about anything
Instant mashed potatoes without butter / butter flavor that can speed spoilage. Can add powdered milk or powdered butter, or both. These potatoes are flaked and dried , ready for longterm use.
I have heard some people saying they are stocking alcohol and cigarettes to use as bargaining tools if it ever came down to that. I haven't done anything like that but to each their own. :)
Pretty good list. 1) I would add hemp hearts to your list. It is high in protein and is a complete protein; and it also has really healthy fats and oils. Two or three tablespoons is a days worth of protein. 2) This might surprise you, but I would add a white rice to your list, like jasmine. Why? To make congee. You cook congee in a crock pot on low for six hours. 4 T of white rice makes 2 Cups of cooked rice congee! I add hemp and pre-soaked lentils and ome oil and seasonings It can be a complete meal. Even though it it only has 4 T of uncooked rice, it digest four times better, and you feel full and satisfied for a long time. More than a billion people in Asia eat congee for breakfast ever day. I cook it overnight and have it for breakfast every morning. The final closing argument is that you can cook congee in a solar oven. If the power is turned off and if you run out of propane what are you going to do? You could make a little dog house with a polycarbonate greenhouse roof and cook your congee during a rain storm. If you insulate the dog house you could cook with it in the winter in many places. Sandy, you are surrounded by trees, fallen brances, pine cones. You might look into getting a small portable rocket stove. It is very efficient and does not need much wood to cook a meal. If you are interested I could tell you more but this has been pretty long.
Your comment is SO valuable! Thanks for taking the time to write this. I am going to look up congee. What I have started doing is writing down may recipes. If we dont have the internet, I will need hand written recipes to refer to.
@@sandysteinbrook Thank you. I want to complement you for being willing and able to think about this kind of thing. Most people can't and don't. And what you are doing is very important. I put 2T hemp seed, a little ghee, honey, and cayenne pepper in my congee. In China they think that food is medicine. They will brew up a strong powerful herbal tea and use that instead of water to make their congee. Western science has recently discovered that the congee pulls the herbal teas (which have permeated into the rice) through cell membranes. This is much more effective than just drinking the herbal tea alone. Also, they discovered two thousand years ago in India that ghee does the same thing. So I use both together -- double whammy. A little cayenne stimulates all kinds of things (more than 100) in the body including your mitochondria (I use 1/8t cayanne when I make two cups of congee). You feel the heat but you don't taste it -- it is very pleasant. Also, it does not take much ghee or honey to be effective (1t of each), so all of these things can all be bought, put away, and stored, in your program. Look for: Organic white rice, Organic grass fed ghee and organic raw honey. This is pretty easy to do, but it is very powerful. Over and Out.
Flour does not store longterm. It lasts about 6 months when ground. If you have whole wheatberries and a grinder, that stores pretty much indefinitely....decades.
Thank you for sharing! I do not like the taste of powdered peanut butter at all, BUT...since it stores longer term and if I was hungry, I won't be choosy. It's food and will bring nutrition.
Sandy: Thanks for the video. But many of the foods you mention need cooking! What if there is no Gas or Electricity to cook with? Not everyone has a fireplace. I would suggest these foods that need no cooking: Canned Tuna Fish (I like the ones in oil) Canned Sardines (in oil or Tomato Sauce) Peanut Butter Cold Cereal (if no milk, then use water!) Powdered Milk Parmalat Milk (it needs no refrigeration, since it's warmed to a higher Temp during Pasteurization)
You know what’s wild the Hadza people (one of the few remaining foraging and hunting tribes in the world) will literally stop a hunt if they come across a bee hive with honey. When interviewed, they sometimes admit eating so much that it makes them sick! Lol
Hi Sandy, About wheat berries, so many choices, what do you recommend? I was thinking to buy them in the buckets since they are protected more from bugs and pests that might come in. I live way out in the country. Red ones I think I heard are good, but wanted to ask you. Other recommendation for long-term, wine, vinegar. Look up this salt from italy. It is iodized. Seasonello. Jam lasts a long time. Way past the expiration date.
Thank you for the salt recommendation! Ok, so as far as wheat berries, I’ve learned a lot…hard white wheat makes good bread and tastes similar to store bought. Soft white wheat makes muffins, pancakes, quick breads etc… The thing about hard red wheat is it has a more nutty flavor. I will mix it with white every once in a while. But the white wheat options will definitely be more versatile for recipes!
We love cracked wheat for hot cereal but I’ve also eaten them whole as hot cereal. I cook them overnight in my slow cooker and put leftovers in my freezer in half cup portions. Add honey and milk. Even cinnamon. So good!!
Plus pastas, canned meats, seasonings for the rice and beans! Vitamins, plus you are going to need vegetables, so buy some freeze dried cans of veggies. They will last 25 years unopened, or one year opened. Or, dehydrate some, and store in jars or mylar bags with oxygen absorbers.
I love dehydrating foods including herbs. Last night I made one of my favorite soups, Zuppa Toscana. Didn’t have any fresh kale so I added my dehydrated leaves. It turned out great!
Canned meat. Keystone has cans of meat, pressure cooked with sea salt. I stocked up directly from the company after the last election. They have a 5 year shelf life. I bought cases, but they sell by the can at Walmart. Beef (roast), ground beef, chicken, turkey, pork. It's easy to make pemican. Another one is sardines (power food), along with any other canned meat. I lean mostly towards carnivore, but have stocked beans, rice, peanut butter, etc for family. Any home canned foods that can be opened and eaten (if there's no easy access to water or no electricity). AMMO! Can't eat it, but you can protect what you have. 😁
It's healthier to store everything possible in jars (they are reusable also) that you like to eat! Fruits, veggies, meat, grains, coffee, tea, olive & avocado oil, water & natural medicines (remedies) like honey, castor oil, aloe vera you want etc. & water with water purification kit/pills. Everything packed appropriately in either water, brine, pickled, juice, wet & dry goods.
I don’t know if this is in the video or in the comments . I was not able to go through everything in it’s entirety. wanted to say that when you get dry Food items that may be prone to bugs finding a home in them it is a good idea to freeze the item for at least 72 hours. This kills those little guys from living and breeding and eating off your food. I label that item froze. I then store it in a vacuum sealed bag or Oven can it.
My phone won't let me eddit what i already wrote so im adding this - with DSMO you dont have to wash it off every five minutes and reapply it as i do - In paper mills most just put it on a burn and dont wash ot off - I just mentioned sever burns that would just about cause my skin to fall off - mine were around 3.8 burns in those two cases - My job i had was hazardous that i had at one time so burns were common place -
I had worked remote mountain oilfields at one time - there were pipe line servey crews that went way into the mountains - They were often supplied with {The Survival Tab) for food rations - they sell them on Amazon - Those guys packed two quart size jugs of them and generaly they lasted a month - they were developed for NASA for long space flights - Some dont like the texture of them - i liked them there had been times i lived off them for a few weeks at a time with out any problems - they did make us constipated - There meant to be eaten with othere foods but in some cases thats all we had - they will give you enough food to keep you going - i cant recall any one having health issues living off of them for lengths at a time -
Thank you for sharing this. I think it is a great idea. I know several people who have been buying this kind of long term food. They are a lot like MRE's in the military. But, I think they have come a long way in making it taste good. For people who have been wondering about these, your comment will be so helpful.
Not a bad list but some of your items are a bit labor intensive (like the raw grains). Personally, I like simple. 1. Canned soup (like Campell's Chunky) - can open and eat. 2. Beef Stew - Balanced nutritional value, also can open and eat. 3. Ramon Noodle cups - just add hot water (or even luke warm and let it seep). 4. Definitely agree with the freeze-dried coffee. 👍 5. Chef Boyardee - Spaghetti, Beefarnoi, etc. 6. Bottled juice - keeps the youngins happy and good source of vitamins. 7. Mountain House freeze dried meals are great but with the election fast approaching, may be a tad late to invest in expensive meals with a 25 year shelf life. 8. And, of course, can't end the list without a shout out to the late Ron Hood "The Woodsmaster" and his wife Karen. Karen once referenced the "Redneck MRE" SPAM AND BEER. Which should be in EVERY preppers pantry. 🤣
In America, most grocery stores carry California Olive Ranch and other good olive oils. Amazon is an easy place for me to buy Olive oils from overseas so I can buy from Greece, Morocco, Italy etc...
Survival tip: beans plus grain will give you a complete protein - rice and beans; refried beans and corn tortillas; chilli beans and corn bread; etc., etc Using different seasonings and you can enjoy a wide variety of dishes.
so funny to me how everyone knows how to be vegan in survival situations but ignore it as long as the grid is up and running...my apocalypse will have so many wonderful plant based meals from beans and grains...
Living in an apartment makes it impossible to cook anything if the electricity goes out so apartment dwellers have to have lots of canned goods. We're not allowed to have grills because of fire code issues.
The very best place in my opinion to buy bulk food is Azure Standard. I have been buying from them for years. From wheat berries, oats, cane sugar, coffee beans, flour, dry beans, rice, canned fruits/vegetables, fats, honey, maple syrup, butter, raw cheese, household cleaners, spices, cocoa, chocolate chips, canning jars, toiletries, ........... Honestly, between Azure Standard and our local farmer that provides our beef, pork and chicken, I don't shop at regular grocery stores very often. We turned an extra bedroom into an in home grocery store and keep a minimum of all foods we use in our home.
Love this. We turned our dining room (barn doors put up too) into a full pantry room. I garden, freeze and can foods. This has been a lifesaver for my family too
@@Nisa-gm5wg I wish so much that people would understand that being prepared, self reliant, sourcing locally, etc. buying in bulk and stocking up, is not living in fear. It is living wisely. Learning skills, growing even some of your food, canning, not wasting, etc. is the best way to get through these difficult times. We were doing this long before the pandemic hit. During that crazy time, we did without nothing. Even had plenty of TP! While the world was going crazy, we were just fine. I love that way of life.
Such great information!! Thank you! …and you are so correct. Being prepared does not mean living in fear. I think it is using wisdom. I am not in fear. I have peace because I feel like we will be ok. But boy we need to get the word out for those that will listen
@@sandysteinbrook Can I be honest, if people didn't learn from the pandemic, if they haven't learned everyday since, there is no use trying to convince them now. And just being real, when we tell people to stock up, they know we are stocked up. It makes us a target. I keep my mouth shut.
@@ColleenH38 you are so right. I think most people don’t start preparing until it personally affects them. Only a few know what I do and they are like minded people (we share and help each other). People used to look at me sideways when I would talk about preparing or encouraging them to be debt free as much as possible. Now, I don’t say a word and just stay prepared for me and my family members
@@sandysteinbrook I took it to mean that any tuna that is harvested and has to be shipped to the US, or wherever its final market destination is, could be impacted by "supply chain" issues which could be impacted by a number of natural or political variables.
@@sandysteinbrookEspecially the cost of oil biproducts, the war on cheap accessible energy is swinging into full force. The guy who owned a dairy ul the way built a methane plant to sell energy to the electric company. (Methane is going to be there no matter what with cows for dairy) Biden's policies, good or bad have shut it down. Now the locals have cut back on cows. More expensive meat, more expensive cheese, butter etc. This is going to lower the population across the planet. Big time. In the end, bad for humans etc.
Great list, but remember that grains, such as wheat, rice, flour, and oats, will become rancid if they're not stored properly. They need to be completely airtight. Dry beans are the same way. They get tough when they get a couple of years old. Pressure canning is a good way to preserve them. Another great tip, if it wasn't already mentioned, is to only store items that you already use (maybe a years worth) so that you can rotate through them. This alleviates some of the concern about the food going bad. Canned meats, tomato products, broths, potatoes, vegetables, and soups are good to store. Lastly, my husband had an older stock of survival seeds and they were no longer viable.
I saw a comment a while back about storing and using old beans. I think the person said they soaked them with baking soda to soften them up. Might be worth looking into that to know ahead of time. When things really shift into the point of no return, people likely won't have the options they have today.
Old hard beans can be ground into bean flour. Great for making brownies and other baked goods. Soon I will be experimenting with using bean flour for making refried beans and hummus.
Never use metal utensils in honey either, as soon as metal touches it, it starts to break down all of the nutrients on the honey. I use wooden spoons only.
People should learn to forage wild plants for medicine, salves and first aid tinctures. vodka and quality oils are needed. I have cooked old beans in an Instant Pot. This is a game changer for using up older stored beans and no extra soaking was needed. 😉
Sooo what if the power is out? We need to have an alternative way to cook & heat in a hurry. We need: Canned meats, tuna, salmon, veggies, soups Pasta Crackers Oils Sugar
1) Popcorn
2) Instant coffee/ loose leaf tea
3) Honey
4) Redmond Salt
5) Wheat Berries/ grains
6) Coconut oil (extremely versatile)
7) Beans
8) Rice
Great list! I’d also add…
1) Cocoa powder
2) Other spices besides just salt
3) Seeds to grow both food and medicinal herbs
Great additions! I always like to look through the comments to get the quick list too. lol. So I always appreciate people like you that will take the time to do it.
You need a grinder to go with #5.
@@CynthiaRockroth. A coffee grinder or blender will work,,,
Water #1
I buy from Azure Standard, local farmers & ranchers. I do have 4 patriot’s 3 month supply for each of us in our house.
I love Redmond salt. I have a Mennonite store that I love to shop and eat lunch at. I have 6 hens, garden boxes ( 4ft. X 12 ft.)
and a very stocked freezer.
Greetings from Michigan ❤️
I still do intermittent fasting also. Not every single day, but most days. It’s just an easy lifestyle to me and I’m less hungry also.
I started skipping dinner at night, and honestly fill better in the morning.
Absolutely! I have found the same thing.
I knew about most of these, but never thought of popcorn- great idea!
Batteries, Communication, Dehydrator, Earth grains, Feed for Animals, Ghee, Hospital supplies, #RefugeMedical US
We have chickens.
@tammygleen7732 how to store eggs in a brine?
We loose our power in winter all the time. These things i keep on hand, Baby wipes, water, matches, flash lights oil lamps and oil, wicks, paper plates and cups.
Always keep up with laundry. Extra dog food. Peanut butter, canned beans, tuna.
I keep my peanut butter in the freezer. It stores longer that way.
Yup! We're in the same boat with frequent winter power issues. We keep all of your list, plus a couple of propane Buddy Heaters. A few years back it was -20 during the day, we only lost power for 2 hours, but boy did the temp inside drop quick. 😲
As an RN, we have some wound preparation and dressings that are infused with honey!. U r correct! P.S. Just found u! Love it!❤
I just used Manuka honey to cover my Shingles rash. It helped with the itching and after 3 days of being on antibiotic and the honey most of the rash was gone.
I used raw honey to get rid of shingles. Messy but effective. No drugs.
Nature is always better than many made medications cause with humans there is too much room for errors!!! God don't make mistakes!!!💜💜💜
I use Manuka honey salve that I buy from Azure Standard. I think it also has tea tree oil in it.

Dehydrated vegetables, and herbs.I save a lot from my garden e very year.
I just bought a dehydrator! I am watching videos to learn how to use it. I hate wasting what comes out of our garden that we can't use.

Deception and evil are rampant right now, but the Bible tells us to use wisdom. I think making preparations in our homes is wisdom
My beans have never never cooked that fast and I have been doing this since 2011. Talk about people being asleep!
I would say to add canned meat for long-term storage like tuna and chicken. I also have some canned beef and canned pork, things that you can eat right out of the can if you don’t have electricity.

Raw honey has so many amazing benefits!
Walnuts and nuts in general are important fooods as well.
They don’t store well long term due to the oils in them. They go rancid
I like to buy them in bulk at Sam’s and store in the freezer so they will stay fresh. So much nutrition in nuts and seeds.
Check out Rain Country....she vacuum seals nuts for long term and has great success

Comfrey and weeds steeped in water make a good free weed tea. Comfrey can be grown from seeds. My plants are a year old and are huge already. Also people should learn to forage wild plants for medicine, salves and first aid.
I have about 400 lbs of flour in storage. It Water, salt, flour = sourdough bread. If needed, you can live on this with veggies.
You are so right! You’re being wise and thinking ahead. I keep trying to learn new recipes for my sourdough starter. I’ve learned an easy bread recipe now. Sourdough is laugh good nutrition for the gut.

You have to bake bread, ok. No electricity?
Hi! I hadn't watched your channel before, but I like it and I subscribed!
Several things I've picked up from others:
1) Use a plastic or wooden utensil with honey! Metal reacts negatively with the good-for-you elements in honey!
2) Along with beans and rice, store canned salmon, tuna and sardines (Haven't quite wrapped my brain around sardines!) That's so you get omega-3 fatty acids!
3) Feminine products
4)Powdered milk
6)Pet food and supplies
7)Store important documents in fireproof envelopes. Cash!!
8)Heirloom seeds so you can grow your food next year
9)Search online for how to make Crisco candles and a heat source from clay pots! Just in case!
10)First aid kit, extra prescriptions & OTC meds and whatever you need to operate medical equipment
Great ideas. For sardines....mix them with tuna - you don't get that strong flavor.

This is very interesting. What is ome oil? Do you add any liquid? Water to the rice? Thank you!
Sugar , flour Peanut butter powder, powdered milk. I'll go to the Amish store and I get powdered buttermilk. Soy sauce. Vinegar. Molasses.
Flour does not store longterm. It lasts about 6 months when ground. If you have whole wheatberries and a grinder, that stores pretty much indefinitely....decades.
@MrsBrit1 I'm pretty sure the USD. Says flour stores for twenty years
Thank you for sharing! I do not like the taste of powdered peanut butter at all, BUT...since it stores longer term and if I was hungry, I won't be choosy. It's food and will bring nutrition.

Canned Tuna Fish (I like the ones in oil)
Canned Sardines (in oil or Tomato Sauce)
Peanut Butter

Powdered Milk
Parmalat Milk (it needs no refrigeration, since it's warmed to a higher Temp during

You know what’s wild the Hadza people (one of the few remaining foraging and hunting tribes in the world) will literally stop a hunt if they come across a bee hive with honey. When interviewed, they sometimes admit eating so much that it makes them sick! Lol
They probably know that honey not only tastes good, but has so many healthy benefits too!
Soft white wheat makes muffins, pancakes, quick breads etc…
The thing about hard red wheat is it has a more nutty flavor.
So good!!
I only drink tea other than water indeed also variety of raw nuts and seeds as well
Nuts and seeds are a great addition and add an essential fat and protein to our bodies.
I just bought a dehydrator! I looked at freeze dryers but they are very expensive. So I have been watching videos on how to dehydrate food.
I love dehydrating foods including herbs. Last night I made one of my favorite soups, Zuppa Toscana. Didn’t have any fresh kale so I added my dehydrated leaves. It turned out great!
When it comes to water I also like having glass bottles to store it in. Rather than using plastic better for my health and the environment

Baking powder, yeast, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and freeze dried eggs for baking to go with those wheat berries.

The very best place in my opinion to buy bulk food is Azure Standard. I have been buying from them for years. @@Nisa-gm5wg I wish so much that people would understand that being prepared, self reliant, sourcing locally, etc. buying in bulk and stocking up, is not living in fear. It is living wisely.

10:18 Coconut Oil is said to be antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antifungal. 🙂
Yes! So many good uses! Plus it isn't a very expensive oil to buy and store.
Yes! And I use it for oil pulling. My dental health is great.
Coconut oil banishes Dementia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell your friends. The Brain needs fat!
Never use metal utensils in honey either, as soon as metal touches it, it starts to break down all of the nutrients on the honey. I use wooden spoons only.
If stored properly, popcorn kernels will last 1-2 years…
Good to know, thank you!
It doesn't really go bad, it's just less effective in popping because it dries out. So use older kernels if that's all you have.

People should learn to forage wild plants for medicine, salves and first aid tinctures. vodka and quality oils are needed. I have cooked old beans in an Instant Pot. This is a game changer for using up older stored beans and no extra soaking was needed. 😉
Very good info! Thanks for sharing. I love using my instant pot for cooking dry beans.

Sooo what if the power is out? We need to have an alternative way to cook & heat in a hurry.
We need:
Canned meats, tuna, salmon, veggies, soups
Pasta
Crackers
Oils
Sugar
Lentils
Wonderful addition to the list. Lentils are a ton of nutrition and store for a long time.
I store my coconut oil in the freezer.
