Great Video. After more than 10 years kitefoiling which was after another 10 years of kiteboarding I've finally decided to commit to Winging. I'm getting good advice and buying my gear. I'm older (74) but not overweight (150) and in excellent condition. Your First Day video is helping.
Hello mate. How its going with the wingfoil?? I have been kitesurfing for 10 years, last 3 years mixing it with kitefoil, but really corious to try wingfoiling
@@GabriGlider It's going good... With fun long rides getting gybes, riding heel and toeside back and forth. With your kite foiling experience the actual foil riding feels familiar and somewhat easy. The trouble spots are: Your waterstarts can be brutality exhausting on any board smaller than your kg weight plus 20 in liters. And your footswitching since you don't have the support of your kite pull overhead
@@GabriGliderI think you’d love it. It is such a free feeling to depower a wing and go surf bumps that nobody could ever surf before. There’s no other sport quite like it. I surf foil and I have to say, winging is by far the easiest foil discipline there is. You will pick it up in no time.
Very well explained, especially front wing tip catches (and prevention). I find most beginners without a strong windsurfing background have this problem. I will forward this video to all my Newbie Wing Buddies. - Thanks for posting!
Hi Damien. Just want to say Thank You for this video, and so many others. I have been trying to learn wing foiling for about 3 years now… and am only really now dialing it all in. I live in New York. It’s been a very long and slow process… but I love this sport and all the effort is totally worth it once it all starts to click. After going out on many sessions, I come back to this video and all your tips make so much more sense. The experiential factor is vital here! I’ve been watching you for a long time.. I see you, Damien. You are a true water warrior … it’s the other side to your message of benevolence. And I love it. Thank you .. for being you, and for your love in sharing the stoke. It’s helping a lot. With appreciation, Dmitri
Great insights - I'm a beginner and the best tip I got from this was Damien's advice to 'punch the water' ie pushing away when the wing is overpowered or if you just want to readjust the angle. It's a quick and simple way to spill wind. 🌊
Thank so much for giving the confidence to get started, brought my Wing out today and loved it and got up on the foil on the back of my jet ski as well . Just need to marry the two together now.. Thanks to all the team... Much appreciated.. Can't wait to start this journey
Just came back from Oahu and saw a couple of middle aged men like myself with this and was instantly intrigued. Talked to them and search the internet and you made it so simple to understand the concept. Thank you so much.
I'm 70+. I've always been athletic, have attempted wind surfing enough to get a taste of the rush. As a kid, I spent a lot of time sailing with my dad in a boat he built... so at least I know the basics of sailing. This looks like even more fun... given the foil... Thanks for this... I'm inspired... If you see some old boomer out there....
Awesome video , iv surfed all my life and looking forward to getting into foiling, I bought all the equipment today, tomorrow I hit the water. Wish me luck 🤙
i’m loving your enthusiasm! last time I was on water i’ve just remembered your words about punching the water a nd that helped me a lot of falling more. believe me i am struggling enough…. as a beginner
I have been waiting for the foil thing for a long time having seen it years ago, this is a dream and and this video will allow the dream to happen very soon😀🏄♀
Thanks Damien, i'm just starting and your videos are really fun, instructive and ... full of power and smile !!! . The explanaition about the back arm controlling the wing helped me a lot. Your spot in Florida looks to be a fine place. Hello from Marseille, France.
Im a kiteboarder and going to the wing soon. So many more uses easier to use in busier areas does need a larg launch area. Safer to teach my 11yr old son. Keep the tips coming thanks. Whitey Muskoka, Ontario .Canada
Great wideo easy and simply explained how learned wing foil😊I bought my equipment and have plan going on the water tomorrow.Thank you for professional lesson 💪👍
Great video thanks. Love the tip about using the wing as a tripod to help get up on the board, Now I can go for my first session on a foil board today. Cheers
Great thanks -will look forward to trying!. Having been a windsurfer, one important hint I'd add is how to steer the board by shifting the wing/sail fore and aft, which then moves the centre of force fore and aft which in turn allows you to put more 'pressure' on the front or rear of the board to steer it downwind or upwind, respectively.
Hey Damien... your tripod thing is awesome for getting up - I've had a couple of sessions on big windsurf boards, and was really struggling to get going on my small SUP in choppy water... then I watched your tripod deal and went out the next day, and had an awesome couple of hours riding my shortboard SUP having a blast - learned so much from your video, which enabled me to get up and going on the water, and then I really made some massive progress in a day. Dude - love ya! Thanks so much - you made it an awesome day for me! Love the vibe bro.
I like how you said carry your gear ever in front of you! ... People may confuse always with all ways even after you physically show them THE correct way, just simply because you shortly after had said always, some people will pretend to have heard what you said after always, ” don’t look for other ways to carry when near the waves should suffice IMO” . Maybe there is a way to take your clear method of teaching and get it more clear. Great information here, I am grateful! what you do is great
Correcting myself *Well they wouldn’t mistake that after you physically show had they been watching however maybe they were just not watching yet listening through a windy environment on their phone. Phones skip places when fingers touch a spot on the screen. Then what could happen is an accident in their newfound anticipation & stoke excitement to carry their board to the water. If the board were in front of them during a carry ( maybe they feel that it’s safer around people) yet
Thanks Damien. I watched your vid, used a few tips as I was out there. I've watched it again and got more tips off it. Thanks for the tips and the good vibes. Keep it up Bud
Right On video Damien! I used Nike Pro Closed-Patella Knee Sleeves at your favorite sporting goods store. They stopped the chaffing 100 per cent :)Also the thin 3 M safety gloves stopped my knuckles from chaffing against the dacron of the wing.
Super video, Damien. I like how you explain some of these mistakes that I am making - like the fronttip dipping in front of the board, and not going upwind when I get on my feet and loosing hte power in the wing. If you do more of these videos, please focus on these things: all the common mistakes that will kill a session and that are easily fixed if you just discover the logic of board/wing/foil handling. Cudos from Denmark
Thank you very much! Very clear. Please post more videos like pumping, upwind. Also gear setup like foil position and correct wing size according to wind and sailor weight. Thanks again!

Hi guys! I like your videos. Could you consider a video in hiw to get into the water, when its not deep enough near to the shore line and when there is swell eventually with current. ? That would be very much appreciated!
Thank you so much! In Ukraine 🇺🇦this kind of surfing not very popular, but your video give me grateful opportunities to understand it and maybe try soon.

"punch the water" was the only thing I remembered, from hours on UA-cam, on my first session a few days ago. And it was super helpful! Thanks 😊
So happy we could help!
The most comprehensive tutorial on winging I found so far. Thank you Damien!
