I remember riding on those RIBBLE buses ( L1 L2, & L3 routes. & I even got to change the destination on the front of one of them. ( I had to go upstairs to do it) & even drove one of their single double door deckers, aswell. Those was the days. Nice to see them out & about again these yesteryear buses. & as usual I find out well after the event when they have already been out & about So, I completely miss them.
@Thestig-en6gp yes I well remember the ribble buses on the L routes. I also had them on the 57 58 & 59 routes where I used to live. This particular day was a members day so wouldn't have been advertised except to members
Lovely to see that old Ribble L3. Probably rode on that very bus 100's of times between home in Waterloo and me nan n granddads in Litherland and also into town and back in the 70's. Great vid fella!
I spent most of the day on the ribble bus, it being a favorite of mine. Where I live we had mostly ribble services so I always have a soft spot for them.
@@Ste2023 to go to this particular event you have to be a member of the North West vehicle restoration Trust. But there are other events open to all throughout the year. The best source to find what's on near me is this site. www.classicbuses.co.uk/++Events-diary.html This has a list of the various bus events all over the country. Or alternatively consider joining the preservation groups and take an active part in keeping these old buses on the road.
Cheers Rob, it was a good day out. We got round a lot of places. I missed out gilmoss though as I was near home. Not being a driver it would have took me 1½ hours to get home from Kirkby. Whereas it was 10 mins walk from the hawthorn Rd Arriva depot
@@Merseywail cool, Im from Runcorn, next time would be nice to to do Runcorn Arriva Depot and Busway (Busway single Decker's buses only) I'll e-mail Mr S this :) thankyou for the video, I am a member of the group
Hi mate ,what livery or fleet is the palatine 2 being painted please,I drove them fur London general on rail replacement they had a Volvo Olympian. Chassis. Nice looking bus capital city bus had 888 I think the only leyland Olympian. With this body it looked great in citybus yellow and red stripe on LT routes in east London saw it at Dagenham and yes I have a model 😂 All the best Mark 😊😊
Thanks Mark. Am not 100% sure. I think the owner is going to put it in into Liverbus livery. It's named Andy Wade as a tribute to a driver & friend of the owner who passed away a young age. The palatines were very popular with both passengers and drivers
@@Merseywailnaming the bus is such a tribute ,at Shepards bush we had RML880 (ER880) in London United tram livery they named it John lamphier after a driver or I believe a controller ,and yes I liked driving a palatine 2 found the Volvo Olympian a good bus .

I like riding on top of a double decker bus and to see the whole view.

@@marksinthehouse1968 apparently it's a bus he loved to drive. It current owner was a close friend of his, so a very fitting tribute.
