    Mine is on the way 🥳. For advanced automation, you can specify which device and the tag was scanned on and have different automation for different devices. If you scan the tag with your phone something happens but if you scan it on the tag reader something else happen

      That's cool. I haven't tried the advanced automation but having the phone and tag reader do different things opens the door to more possibilities.

      @@adonno I got mine already. I flashed it with the costume code so it gets the HA tag Id if it exists and defaults to buzzer and lights on. I’m making a blueprint that play mp3 and mp4 files from the media player if the tag ID is a file name or path of a file in the media folder.

    Great tutorial on how to control the NFC tags in Node Red! Thank you

    If you have installed the Home Assistant nodes, you will find the "tag" node in them.
    With the you can read out and process the tags scanned with the smartphone.
    I taped an NFC tag under the dining table. With this you can now easily switch off the exhaust air hood in the kitchen without having to get up.
    I can think of a lot more but my wife will soon go crazy :-))

      Nice! I have a few of those. Just paint 'em to match what you stick to (non conductive paint). No one will ever seen them ;)

    Hi great video, thanks, i have a specific question.
    Is it possible to have MULTIPLE adonno nfc tag readers in the same home?
    and in node red fire a specific action ONLY if a specific Tag is used on a specific reader?
    For example have one reader on the home entrance, when my personal tag is read on the entrance reader - it disarms alarm
    if the same tag is read on another reader (garage reader) it enables some scenes.
    then another tag maybe fires an individual action on the garage but does nothing on the entrance reader.
    i have seen on your debug output than the object, other than the TAG ID it shows also a device_Id is this individual for every NFC reader? in this case i should be able to know which tag was used on which reader -and fire an action only if the correct tag was used on the correct reader

      Interesting use case. I haven't tried more than one so I don't have a good answer. Maybe someone else here knows. Could also ask in Discord.

    I've seen a few videos like this but the QR Code feature seems to have been missed or its unreliable or something.
    Have you done any work on the QR Code side of HA?
    I've got a couple of ideas but from what I've seen, scanning the QR Code shows a URL outside of my network. I'd like the qr code to only work if connected to my local network.
    Thoughts?

    • @mostlychris
      @mostlychris  2 роки тому +1

      I haven't done the QR code stuff. I see a brief mention of QR code along with the NFC stuff on the companion app page but that's about it. For your QR code URL, you could just make it the local IP of your HA and then by default it wouldn't do anything outside your network. Not having played with them though, I could be wrong in how they work.

    • @KubedPixel

      @@mostlychris Hey, thanks for your reply. The HA app generates the qr code but uses some external server to point to, not sure how it works or why it works in that way.

    Does it have to be directly connected to the device where Home Assistant is installed? Or could I just have it plugged to another desktop/laptop in the same network as the Hassio?

    • @mostlychris
      @mostlychris  3 роки тому +1

      It's over wifi so you can put it anywhere you can access the same network. You just need a power source.

    You didn't really talk about the tag reader. Was basically a rehash of the previous nfc video.
    You could have gone into the github of the reader.. What it was, who made it, etc. The diy versions or complete versions.
    Does it work on batteries etc etc..
    Is it just an esp and card reader..
    You had much more opportunity to fill out a video. Good luck.

      All good points. I've spent more time on the software side of things than hardware. I will be doing more hardware stuff so this is helpful feedback. Adonno printed the case and I ran it on a USB battery for the demo. All of this can be built using parts and I should have referenced that. github.com/adonno/tagreader. From Adonno you can buy fully built, kit, or just the case although there was a pretty big backlog. adonno-crafts.myshopify.com/

      Cheers, I did look it up from your description link. Just felt you missed the opportunity to talk about the device when you had it in the title.
      Edit. Especially for community devices.. I hadn't heard of it before and I've been using HA for a year or more now. So I was curious to hear more about the device. An unboxing I guess.
      Just constructive criticism hopefully :)
