- Today I show 2 new routers that were added to the list of supported hardware devices for AREDN Mesh Networking Firmware. Made by GL.iNet, both of these routers offer some extra features that we haven't seen yet, namely size and portability.

No echo....
I've started mesh at my QTH in NW Illinois! Trying to get others in on it! Thanks for the video!
Good luck, keep us posted on how it goes!
Great video, I've been getting into AREDN recently, I have a few WRT54G's running BBHN. Please make a video of when you install it in your vehicle, I want to do the same in my Jeep XJ.
The GL.iNet GL-USB150 (Microuter) have been discontinued by GL inet
I have both devices. I run several computers in my shack so having these extends my mesh capabilities.
I have been wanting to test out AREDN for various things but have never gotten around to it. These devices make it cheap to get into and try it out
Yep, for sure. But there are lots of options for inexpensive devices that are supported by AREDN too.
Links to external antennas that would be ideal for the GL.iNet AR150? I really like the idea of playing with a portable setup!
Could you give some basic configuration and use of mesh networks for the beginner ham? Could this be expanded to use in emergency when repeaters and internet many to be able to expand and forward emergency messages or local communication?
I'll be doing a livestream this Sunday and taking questions
1. what is the range of this thing
2. so I can technically use this thing for internet too on my laptop for example?
Great timing, I was just looking for some tech stuff bout MESH networks. Id love to have a program for a Linux PC that can turn them into routers.
Dont know if you guys gives a shit but if you guys are stoned like me atm then you can watch all the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my brother these days xD
@Edward Baker Definitely, have been watching on instaflixxer for years myself :D
If this works out, I may buy another with PoE capability. I can envision putting this in a waterproof box, adding a high gain external antenna, running an Ethernet cable to it, and mounting it on a mast to increase line-of-sight range.
Went to buy a GL.iNet GL-USB150 Microuter, 150Mbps but you cant buy them. Is there a place you can still buy them.
I use the USB 150 with a cable connected to my Samsung Android phone.
Both items listed above "1st and 2nd one" are currently not available and may not be back in stock.
This is an old video
Jason: I recently got into AREDN mesh networking and have 5 nodes up in South Texas. I don't seem to have any neighbors. I would like to contribute to the cause. I have an hAP a couple Lite beam 5 ghz and 3 Nanos on 5.8..
I have 3 cameras and a Pi running FreePBX as a test bed in my LAB. maybe we can do a tunnel to DFW?
We have quite a few nodes in DFW and most people don't want to connect outside of the area because they have tried that in the past, and it produced lag-times in the network.
Where in STX are you?
@@HamRadio2 I am near Beeville 60 mi N of Corpus
Your link to DNTN is down.. That explains why N5ERS doesn't show up.
Yeah that's Andrew's link
How do you know that washing this item will put it in *"silent key"* status? Simple ...
I just ordered one, so you undoubtedly fired up your remote viewer time machine and followed me around in the future until I accidentally laundered this device! Yep, sounds like something I would do! (Destroyed a cell phone 📱 that way a few years ago! 😥)
Thanks for the tip! Merry Christmas.

LOL
you might wanna refresh your store items
The items on Amazon listed as "unavailable" are currently still showing on the supported platform matrix page on the AREDN website. When they update some new hardware, I will make some changes, but it doesn't look like these GLi.net devices have gotten much attention lately
@@HamRadio2 yeah, the unavailable part is what i was talking about. But that is standard ops nowadays i reckon for many items, was just giving you a hands up. I will be making a purchase soon, something like that nanostation m2 on your video.
The echo is annoying. Sounds like Mexican radio...
What echo?
@@HamRadio2 You didn't know your voice has an echo?
There is no echo when I watch it. Maybe try it from another computer.
@@ik04 what echo?
@@HamRadio2 Yep. I was using Windows for some dumb reason and the crappy sound system had an echo... Nevermind!
