    I don't think many people mention it enough, but a ton of North American chemical sunscreens are actually damaging to coral reefs and marine wildlife so please avoid ingredients like octinoxate, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, and homosalate. There are other options for you to use so please do your part to help protect the environment. Thank you

    SPF 15 is not enough. People should use spf 30 minimum for good protection. A window doesn’t protect you from the uv rays. Even if you are only beside a window you should be using spf 30 or more.

    UVA - Remember the A for Aging
    UVB - Remember the B for Burn.

    So you will automatically Remember Aging the rays go deeper, Burn just on surface

    My current favorite facial sunscreen is the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ PA++++ (the 2019 version - the essence one, not the gel). It's a chemical sunscreen that spreads across your skin and sinks into it effortlessly, and it doesn't leave a shiny or greasy looking finish. I have combo skin with a particularly oily T-zone, and this sunscreen still manages to look natural rather than shiny or oily on me. It's not a matte finish or a glowy finish. It's more just...skin-like. It doesn't blur your pores, but it doesn't emphasize them either. It's honestly a joy to use, and I have used well over 20 different kinds of sunscreens just over the last 3 years alone - from American to European to Asian to Israeli to even Australian; from chemical to mineral to combo of both; from cheap drugstore ones to expensive ones from Japan that made my credit card cry in dismay at the pricetag. Trust me, I've tried A LOT of sunscreen. Even right now, I have 6 different sunscreens sitting on my bathroom vanity at present. And this one tops them all, by FAR. It also doesn't get into my eyes even when I'm sweating, which is a very real problem for me with literally EVERY other sunscreen.
    My second favorite right now is A'PIEU PURE BLOCK Natural Daily Sun Cream SPF 45 PA+++. The only strike against it is that it's not SPF 50 PA++++, so it doesn't have the HIGHEST level of protection available. But it's perfect for just regular everyday use - going on a 30-45-minute walk, working from home, working from the office, driving around for 2 hours, running errands, etc. As long as you're not profusely sweating or swimming (or swimming in your own sweat, haha), it's great. It does leave a bit more shine on my face than I'd like, so actually, that's another minor strike against it, too. It's not greasy, but I have a VERY oily T-zone, and this one just doesn't control the oiliness there enough. It's chemical too, so no whitecast. I also do like the PURITO Centella Green Level Safe Sun SPF 50+ PA++++ sunscreen that is mentioned in this video, it's very comfy and soothing going on, but I can only use it in the winter, when my skin is SUPER dry. Or if I haven't done my skincare routine in a few weeks (oops...), so I need the extra moisture and conditioning. Otherwise, during the rest of the year, it makes my skin SO shiny that I look like I rubbed Crisco on my face (butter). Even with setting powder on top, it still looks and feels very greasy. I live in California, so that might be why. And I do like the MAKE P:REM sunscreen that's mentioned in this video too - it's great at leaving a matte finish and having a very high SPF and PA rating, but it's pretty pricey and you can't reapply it on top of itself because then it'll get too thick and won't spread on top of itself. It is VERY water-repellant, so the texture is more... noticeable? Not to others, not visibly, but you do FEEL it on your skin, if that makes sense.
    I have tired, and still own, the Krave Beauty Beet the Sun sunscreen and I hate it. HATE IT. Its scent is so strong that irritates and burns my eyes and makes them water incessantly, it emphasizes my pores like crazy, and it makes my skin look SO GREASY that no amount of setting powder can tone it down Even in winter. Even under makeup! And here's the thing: I don't often wear foundation because I'm too lazy and it takes too long, so I need a sunscreen that can hold its own and make my skin look nice, or at the very least natural, aaalllll by itself. Effortlessly. No setting powder required. This sunscreen fails all of those requirements monumentally. Which is a shame because I love all the other Krave Beauty products and wanted to like it. My friend likes this sunscreen though so I bought a few for her.
    Of the other sunscreens I have tried recently, these are the ones I deeply loathe (whose names I still remember): the Missha All-Around Safe Block series of sunscreens (seriously, I've tried ALL of them and hated each one for different reasons), the Australian Gold Botanical Mineral Lotion SPF 70 sunscreen (too sticky & hard to spread, and the whitecast makes my face, due to my pink cheeks, look purple...), the Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream (too shiny on me and goes bad very quickly), the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Tinted Mineral Ultra-Light Fluid Broad Spectrum SPF 50 (it's too greasy on me and the tint is WAY too dark for truly fair skin - I'm shade N0 in CoverFX foundation), the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Melt-In Sunscreen Milk Body & Face Sunscreen (greasy, greasy, THICK, and burns my eyes), the Elta MD UV Shield sunscreen (greasy and thick, burns my eyes), and the Elta MD UV Clear sunscreen (greasy and thick, burns my eyes). Those are just the ones I can recall off the top of my head right now.
    I am now looking to try some more options, because the hunt for The One Perfect Sunscreen never ends, haha. I still want to try the Earth's Recipe Waterful Sun Gel SPF 50+ PA+++ Sunscreen, and to try any/all of the Supergoop! sunscreens. I actually just ordered one of the latter's trial-size kits today, so now just gotta wait for them to arrive in the mail.

      The 1st one you mentioned was my fave so far. Its actually the 1st ever sunscreen I used and then I finished it but could not repurchase another because it ran out of stocks in our local stores. The only one available was the watery gel variant and I don't like it because it leaves a white cast. I have to mix it w/ my moisturizer and bb cream to tone it down. I might try the Purito one but I need to finish the watery gel first. Thanks for your narrative!

    So informative thank you! Y’all put together a really nice compilation with so many details! I think it’s worth mentioning that some of the watery (yet lovely) mineral sun screens don’t have much water resistance so you might have to supplement if you’re swimming! Also...the FDA is further examining the 12 chemical sunscreen ingredients (announced late 2019) because they absorb into and stick around in the blood more/longer than recommended... im sticking to mineral sunscreens until we know more.

    For this summer I’m going to be using these☀️:
    Face: Màdara Cosmetics SUN 30 spf 30 for face, hands and body (organic, cruelty free, sensitive skin)
    Body: Caudalie milky sun spray spf 50, Caudalie beautifying suncare oil spf 30 (dry oil, melts into the skin completely, leaves it dry, non sticky)
    All these products are environmentally friendly. 👍🙂
    I was also considering Annemarie Börlind Sun fluid spf 30 and their after sun lotion, but ended up buying the Màdara and the Caudalie products instead because I liked the packaging better. 😊 Now I need something for cooling off my skin after sun exposure and I’m set!

      Please don't rely on a spf mist to be your sole protection. A mist will not give an even layer or near enough coverage to get adequate protection. Please use a traditional sunscreen under makeup and then touch-up with the spray.

    • @CriscianaLovely
      @CriscianaLovely 4 роки тому +12

      Spray misters are known as the worst sunscreens. They are known not to protect because most people don’t use the amount they need dnd they don’t fit evenly. You need to literally drench your face and it’s dangerous to inhale sunscreen. Dermatologist and skincare gurus would never recommend spray sunscreens because they are a huge gimmick

    • @kyrakytana
      @kyrakytana 4 роки тому +7

      Spray and powder sunscreens alone are not enough protection, since it is physically impossible to apply the required amount you need to reach the SPF on the label (at least 1g of product). I would only use them as touch-ups, if there is no other way to apply a fresh layer (e.g. over makeup at work).

    I love your informative videos :) Here's something that I personally also consider, especially when it comes to sunscreens (and basically all other skin care products):
    - is it a vegan formula and not tested on animals?
    - is the sunscreen reef safe?
    - does it contain any irritating parfume / essential oils?
    I'd love to see more of these questions answered in your future videos. Cause if there's a version, that is not only better for our own health but also better for the animals and the environment - wouldn't we all rather choose that product? :)

    The problem with sunscreen is that it's sooo expensive to use it every day. A good, light sunscreen cost from 10 to 30$ and if you use it every day, and u need a lot to cover your face properly, and u reapply it even just once a day, it's gonna be gone in less than a month. That is the reason I don't use it if I'm not gonna go out, at home I just try to avoid direct sunlight

    isn’t oxybenzone only a filter for UVB rays? in the United States, we only have Avobenzone as a UVA filter. also, i’m sure that chemical and physical sunscreens don’t reflect rays away, they absorb a majority of the rays and expel them as heat from the skin. Physical sunscreens only reflect about 5% of the UV rays while absorbing 95% of the rays and expelling as heat just like chemical sunscreens.

    • @BeautyWithin

      We found Oxybenzone filters both UVA and UVB rays, but tends to absorb more short wave UVA rays. And yes, we agree physical sunscreens reflect to some degree but mostly absorbs to emit heat 😉

In my particular case, the serum didn't let the sunscreen get absorbed into my skin (I used a chemical sunscreen from La Roche Posay). The serums I used contained niacinamide and Vitamin C derivative (Ascorbyl Glucoside). What I do is I skip the serums if I'm using that particular sunscreen. Just wash, tone, and moisturize. It’s so weird that almost no one pays our attention to the fact that zinc ingredients are drying, for some of us - so much. So I’m left either with solo titanium dioxide formulations, or chemical ones.
