Those pads should have an LCD underneath them. Trying to remember what color does what is a huge headache. I need to have my cheat sheet with me everywhere I go and I'm using this build.
Rode has been really smart investing so much in software these days, really makes their products so much more powerful. The Elgato Stream Deck could be added to this for some visual icons on the buttons too... super cool set up. Using MIDI as a hack is very clever.
Hooray! I knew I wanted this sort of compact, unified combination device when I first saw the Streamer X. Sadly, I had no clue how to realize my desire. You, Caleb, have shown me how. THANK YOU SO MUCH! And, whew, the kit availability solves my no-3d-printer problem, too. Whee!
Hello! This build is amazing; i picked the streamerX to make an attempt, but found out the videodock isnt for dale anymore. Do you know where I might find the STL files for sale?
Gr8 ideas and compilation with well execution but costly affairs. May be for PRO users /media influencer. I have a doubt about your audio chain, can you please explain? Regards
Keep in mind that the SATA connectors of SSDs, or the female counterpart, are not made to be plugged and unplugged a lot. The contacts wear down and can even break quite quickly. This will not last very long if you are unlucky. Might want to jsut use a USB hub instead with a toggle between Ninja and PC for example. Otherwise amazing build and idea!
It doesn't really seem to be a problem for most of these recorders. most people use them by constantly removing the drive and using the caddy as intended. The connector has a low rated lifetime, but mostly doesn't really have issues seemingly
I've had hotswap set ups for some chassis i selected in previous builds (the corsair 300D comes to mind immediately) and that required the HDD / SSD to be plugged into a sata adapter similarly to this behaviour. It was totally fine over long term use.
Can you use the Streamer X to start and stop recording on the Atomos? It would be much better to have physical keys for that than using the tiny button on the Atomos screen.
I love this build, amazing! One question though. Looks like you can close the monitor 'lid', which would be nice for transport. However, won't the two knobs then damage the screen? Perhaps some rubber support on the upper side of the screen can prevent that. Or all around the screen, as it can double as a little sun hood when the monitor is in use.
I just want to pop by and say that this dude is amazing and I love the evolution of the channel and brand. The addition of 3D printing parts is a smart and brand separator. Thank you for making these wonderful videos.
Thanks. This is a really great device. To be honest, I’m not sure why Rode didn’t build the Streamer X with a screen in the first place. I suspect that later iterations might go down this path.
Caleb is there a way to edit the file? Need to add a “dip” where the screw sits on the top of the ninja. Want to add a camera using a SmallRig two sided mount. The pla in that area is too thick for the screw to go all the way into the screw.
How are you getting the quality audio into the Ninja V for recording. I just set mine up and realized it will only record the camera audio, not the audio from the streamer x
Loved it!! So portable, so practical, so powerful. The only thing could make this setup PERFECT is a switcher for 2 cameras. Not one, not 4 (i own the Atem mini pro) but just 2. Thanks for sharing
Could you put a 2x1 HDMI splitter in the signal chain? One of those splitters that has a button to switch between the inputs? I’m not sure if there would be a delay between the switching, but there might be.
Your channel actually is educational. Tired of the usual channel out there just talking about specs on a product. You on the other hand are innovative and you show it in such a nice and simple! This is Content Creation! Its Great!!! >;))
Great video. Now, how about cimbining the Atomos Ninja V with the Atomos ninja Connect that can do all sorts of ethernet, NDI, SDI, WIFI and camera to cloud stuff etc with fx the Røde Streamer X and do a new build with these components? I already own the Ninja V and have upgraded it to os11 and I own the Ninja Connect moduler and have all the codec available, so just need the Røde Streamer X part
Incredible work as always! The built in capture card w/ all the various resolutions and mic options was reason enough to get one for most people, but the Midi control and recording capability is fantastic!
My Shogun died. Atomos won't repair it even if I paid them. I always used it indoors and stored it in its case. Please keep in mind that Atomos products are ultimately disposable unlike cameras, lenses, and similar recording products from companies like Black Magic that can actually be repaired.
The ability to record a 4k program is great. That said, I love the ATEM mini extreme ISO workflow. Don't have a problem connecting a cable. The only thing I wish the ATEM could do is record a higher quality program than the stream settings. That said, opening the ISO Resolve project and tuning up edits is great. My workflow is 1080 for now, which is fine.
This will also work for every standard 2.5inch SATA SSDs, not just Samsung I mostly used SanDisk in the past (Ultra, Extreme and Extreme Pro ), they all worked fine on the Atomos
Hi Caleb, this build is awesome. However I am missing the download option for the 3D files on camerafoundry. Am I just looking at the wrong place? Best regards Matthias
can you please review the samyang vaf lenses. I think those look and work pretty good for the price. FYI it is a auto focus cine lens with some very quick features on it.
Can you explain your audio chain? I there a way to record audio into Atomos from StreamerX? Otherwise, I can only record in computer via ECamm, etc. Many thanks!
What about sync video and audio? Like when the cameras HDMI out are delayed ... Can you synk that in the streamer X? Also does the Streamer X HDMI in suport audio via HDMI?
Epic rig Caleb! So glad you're enjoying the Streamer X and love how you're using the SMART pads :)
Thanks!
Those pads should have an LCD underneath them. Trying to remember what color does what is a huge headache. I need to have my cheat sheet with me everywhere I go and I'm using this build.
These builds are getting better and better. Like videos from DIY perks. Technology just keeps fusing and fusing tinkerers alike.
DIY Perks is the best!!! Thanks so my drrrw!
This build… is so phenomenal. I’ve worked with a Stream Deck & ATEM before but this… so much better.
this is incredible.
Thanks Chris!!!
This pivot to wild and creative 3D printed contraptions is great! Love the new stuff, Caleb
Thanks Tim!

please don't do this to my wallet :(
😅😅😅 I'm saying I'm being put into a recession
😂cant agree more
My credit rating is never going to recover…
Exactly 😅
😂😂😣😖🫡
Omg Caleb!! You have outdone yourself on this one. This looks like a project from the future.
Dude. This is so freaking cool!
I absolutely love how creative you continue to be with these builds Caleb!
Hello! This build is amazing; i picked the streamerX to make an attempt, but found out the videodock isnt for dale anymore. Do you know where I might find the STL files for sale?
I am beyond impressed by this, the Streamer X is so powerful and Rode killed it!!
Caleb amazing job with being creative with your workflow as always!!
Killed it? they're still selling it...
@@chumleykkilled it as in "did it perfect"
yes this is crazy!
Gr8 ideas and compilation with well execution but costly affairs. May be for PRO users /media influencer.

Interesting...That is similar to the way you insert and eject SSDs on the Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio HD Pro and Studio 4k Pro.

2:20 every SSD deserves a cool little red grip. Getting major cyberdeck vibes
Can you use the Streamer X to start and stop recording on the Atomos? It would be much better to have physical keys for that than using the tiny button on the Atomos screen.
Caleb is an anagram for cable which might explain your affinity for keeping them cleannnn
Bro this is beautiful

Everytime I watch your videos, I wanna build something new. Love this!
This is awesome. The only downside with the X is not being able to use multiple video streams, if it has 3 angles/input, it’s game over.
I just want to pop by and say that this dude is amazing and I love the evolution of the channel and brand. The addition of 3D printing parts is a smart and brand separator. Thank you for making these wonderful videos.
You are absolutely crazy! Love every bit of the video :D
This is totally insane. Really well thought out.
Thanks. This is a really great device. To be honest, I’m not sure why Rode didn’t build the Streamer X with a screen in the first place. I suspect that later iterations might go down this path.
Seems awesome but it appears that you are limited to a single camera? Or could this setup somehow be adopted to use 2 or more cameras?
Caleb is there a way to edit the file? Need to add a “dip” where the screw sits on the top of the ninja. Want to add a camera using a SmallRig two sided mount. The pla in that area is too thick for the screw to go all the way into the screw.

Would love to see Rode get into the switching game too!
Your channel actually is educational. Tired of the usual channel out there just talking about specs on a product. You on the other hand are innovative and you show it in such a nice and simple! This is Content Creation! Its Great!!! >;))
Brilliant! Just grabbed a VideoDock and can't wait to incorporate this into my setup.
Thank you for the purchase and support @kriedholm!

This video is so interesting on so many levels....you cover so many amazing things!
That is super cool. Great idea!
Super sick build! Love it!
Awesome work Caleb!
Incredible work as always! The built in capture card w/ all the various resolutions and mic options was reason enough to get one for most people, but the Midi control and recording capability is fantastic!
Another unique, awesome, amazing, creative, innovative setup
Oh, this is a sweet, compact little bit of kit right here. Very nice
12:17 (freeze frame) Looking good :) the colors seem off? or is that just me?
This is so awesome. Thanks for doing this! 🎉🎉🎉
My Shogun died. Atomos won't repair it even if I paid them. I always used it indoors and stored it in its case. Please keep in mind that Atomos products are ultimately disposable unlike cameras, lenses, and similar recording products from companies like Black Magic that can actually be repaired.
Damn😢😢😢
The audio sound a little more metallic than usual and the bass boost...
Your products are getting more and more impressive Caleb!
Amazing video! This can be perfect for a minimalist studio or when traveling. Thanks a lot for sharing it!
Your best build yet Caleb!
bruhhhh. You never cease to amaze me. Another banger video.
This is so nice!! Can you make a video with this and add in the Atomos Caster?? Or Atem mini?
Fantastic video of how to optimize your setup! Thank you for the inspiration!
I had not even thought about MIDI control before. I'm using the Rodecaster Pro and this may completely change my workflow. Thank you!
Dude! Getting seriously industrious with your 3D printing 💪 love this little X box too!
So sick! Nice one Caleb!
Extremely creative and at to use really cool tech! Love this
The ability to record a 4k program is great.
You can always record in 4K internal and reconnect your Davinci Resolve project to the higher resolution files.
You really are a hero of this space. Such a huge fan! Will be purchasing one of these kits from you :)
This contraption feels so "Bladerunner"! Another awesome video, Sir.
This one is wild!
Well done 👍🏻
So cool things) Good work, Caleb!
Caleb, you are a genius! The only issue with the 16 buttons is how to remember which one does what.
Your ideas are so smart and good lookin. Perfect setup right there.
Maaan this thing looks so cool and compact.
i am loving these little dui builds.
You are a genius! This is why I love your channel
Dude! I love how you hack things to create very practical video solutions. Very inspiring!
This will also work for every standard 2.5inch SATA SSDs, not just Samsung
I mostly used SanDisk in the past (Ultra, Extreme and Extreme Pro ), they all worked fine on the Atomos
Love this! Any plans on making a similar rig to go with the ATEM Mini Pro ISO?
Always developing amazing products and tutorials to help improve video shooter's life! what a great mind! congratulations!
I’m so impressed with it. Also very simple explanation. 👍
this is honestly so invitational thank you for sharing.
This is so cool. So many possibilities and such a small rig.
I like small devices and individual ideas. Can you tell where this visible delay is coming from?
the video didn't even started and I already pressed like just for how cool and cyberpunk it looks... amazing
This is the best video I’ve ever seen
That's pretty good, just I don't like the 3D design on the back of the monitor for the usb conector.
Caleb, as always, your videos are loaded to the brim!
Thank you!
Love your shared setups, great explanations and always innovative.
Hi Caleb, this build is awesome. However I am missing the download option for the 3D files on camerafoundry. Am I just looking at the wrong place?
Best regards
Matthias
"Go ahead and pull out and stick it in" LOL Told you I would get you Caleb!
Wow caleb! What a fantastic set up! ( I will need to watch this over again several times in slowmo !) :-)
we are in the future guys. brilliant video bro. good contraption you made there. loved it.
wow nice!!!! can you do something similar whit RØDECaster Duo?
What is the limitation of this setup in terms of number of cameras, mics to be connected. Thank you
It 's already like a mini 3 pro, compact and practical,Probably the most optimal
this is just insane! love it!
can you please review the samyang vaf lenses. I think those look and work pretty good for the price. FYI it is a auto focus cine lens with some very quick features on it.
so unfortunate the shipping fees cost too much and it takes too long for Uk shipping
What a great idea. I already have a Ninja V and a StreamDeck X, so will have to think about this. :) You are truly ingenious!
Could you use this to cut multiple cameras / mics while recording a podcast? It’s all overwhelming lol
Genius! Thanks Caleb for sharing this build.👍
Can you explain your audio chain? I there a way to record audio into Atomos from StreamerX? Otherwise, I can only record in computer via ECamm, etc. Many thanks!
Fantastic! I love your videos and the fact that you design functional 3D prints!
fascinating setup
This man never misses love this idea this just inspired me to make something
This channel has cost me so much money. Keep up the great work.
What about sync video and audio?
Like when the cameras HDMI out are delayed ... Can you synk that in the streamer X?
Also does the Streamer X HDMI in suport audio via HDMI?
I think Caleb needs to change his name to "Mad Scientist" Amazing!
You, my friend, are a mad scientist!
