That nano tank is beautiful thank you for the inspiration thanks for giving me great idea and now I created my own channel and have my own nano with a bunch of cool corals!
I wish you could keep the 10g going longer. There's not a whole lot of documented nano reefs here on youtube that are 1+ years old that show the challenges of keeping nano reefs going long term. Anyways loved this series sad to see it going.
I'm editing my project of my reef. From start to finish. I do have updated videos on different social media. I dont run a skimmer and I have some sps coral but not much because I need more water flow and my lps coral has way too much. I have a 30 gallon. Maybe you will like it. I can help you out.

I just made my first video for my Nano and Pico reefs. They are just starting, but try watching my first reef video if you are interested in a similar setup. I do not know if I am fun to watch yet, but I will be making more videos about my adventures.
It's always nice to have a tank on the side just for an emergency..

Hey, just wanted to let you know Im a student and got a tank similar to this due to my low budget - the refugium mod on the aquaclear ended up working amazingly for me. Got a slightly more expensive light. Been running 4 months now and doing great! Thanks for the awesome idea.

Awesome to hear this, may I ask what light you're using for the refugium? I think my refugium light may be one of the limiting factor on my refugium.. 🤔
@@InappropriateReefer zetlight E100 macro. Its the most readily available in South Africa. Growing my chaeto really well
@Donovan Are you also using some type of a surface skimming box like what we see on @innapropriate Reefer tank? I'm not sure of the proper name for that, maybe it's called an overflow box? Looks like it fits over the intake of the HOB.

Roughly how much of a money difference between setting up a 10 gal and 20 gal? Did y’all use generally the same equipment?
@@03jbarton yes pretty much. I've got a aqua clear 50. A 100watt heater. A small fluval power head. And a metal halide light I got dirt cheap from lfs used.

I bought the evo 13.5 one
I ended up taking that big solid filter piece you have in the filter and put a mesh screen, wrapped the filter in foil with the reflective side facing in, and I put the light sitting right on top of the filter with the lid so the light bounced all around

Your tank is the inspiration behind my 10g with a refugium. I duct taped a grow light from Amazon and my chaeto is growing like crazy. I hope my frogspawn grows as much as yours! Keep up the good work, I love your content.
I followed along with this and set mine up exactly like yours. Its been up for about 6 months now after cycling.

pick up 3 pepermint shrimp, they may not get the huge ones but they kick ass for keeping it under control. I haven't seen any(other than in my overflow) they are also super fast at catching multiple pellets when the fish miss them

Baby arrow crab to get rid of brussel worms. I had what I knew of three babies and one massive one. Added the baby arrow crab with in days he hunted them to death. Everyday he was eating on for a week.

If you are willing to sell some of the frog spawn from the tank I would be interested. I live in the DC area so there would be no shipping or anything involved. I'm less than a year in the hobby and have really been looking for a great frog spawn which you obviously have. Keep up the great videos.

After I use aptasia x I always hit the same spot a few days later, I’ve never had a problem with them coming back since then
Do you hit the same spot even if you don't see any Aiptasia there? Or you could see it coming back?
Inappropriate Reefer I had them start to grow back, so I hit them again and a day later I hit the same spot. Hard to say if it was the second dose that did it or if it was the third. I also go pretty heavy and literally coat the area.

I have the same fuge mod going on my 20g for the aquaclear. It has been growing chaeto like crazy! Have to cut half of it out every week

@@InappropriateReefer I am using the Feit Electric60-Watt Equivalent A19 Medium E26 light bulb from home depot it cost me around $10 I also have the light glued to the side of the refugium instead of hanging over top
Brother when my macro algae doesn't grow too well, try liquid iron. It worked for me in a few different systems, but in others it didn't.

Hey Inappropriate Reefer since you said the refugium is not really doing a whole lot. I am curious before you take the tank down would you replace refugium with BIO media just to see what happens and just encase you need to move things from the 45 gallon.
Do you mean like bio pellets, or carbon dosing? I probably won't do much to this tank anymore and just focus on getting the 150g and 20g Mangrove up and running asap (due to leaky 45g); I may do something like that for the 150g though and run a small refugium, so you will probably get to see it's effect here down the road either way!
@@InappropriateReefer Bio pellets. Yeah that's fair enough since your so close now with the 150g. Looking forward to seeing how that turns out.
What happened to the clam? Was it growing under your current lights?
It was doing very well in the 10g until I moved all the corals in, that messed with the water parameters and I lost it. It was under the current light and supplemented with phyto dosing.
The macro you need a light for it
I replicated parts of this set-up as a first time reefer. I went w/filter media instead of refugium and added a nano power head. Been going okay. Was wondering though, what settings of blue and white balance with the light have you used? I had blue up all the way and white on 3 or 4.

What’s a good food for the clowns I have one that is being extremely picky I tried pe mysis and brine he ate a tiny bit of the pe mysis but not the brine is there anything better
Is your clown a new one? They typically eat almost everything. For everyday I do Ocean Nutrition's Prime Reef flake; once a week I feed LRS Reef Frenzy for the whole tank. I also mix in other food I have on hand as well, clowns have never been picky eater for me once established.
Inappropriate Reefer he is new how long do they usually take before they establish themselves I just have him and two pamajamas there in a 70 gallon tank just worried he won’t eat enough should I get him a partner would that help him so he’s more comfortable

Hey how did the aqua knight light hold up for a year? Any issues? Do you still recommend it for a budget tank or are there better options for the price? Thanks!
No issue and if I were to do a budget nano tank again, I would use the same light again. If price is not a concern, I would go for the more expensive light, a Radion XR15 or AI Prime HD would be great over a nano! But of course, price..
Did you ever dose iron in the refugium to promote macro algeae growth? I've heard of other people having success by doing it.

Ak47 52 depend on your tank, if it’s over 20g I recommend picking one you as they as a big help. A small tank like this though, normal water changes are find as long as you go a schedule
Protein skimmer, carbon/gfo products, or macro algea they all can work. You technically dont need anything and can control parameters with feeding, dosing, water changes.
I would say yess it will help remove extra waste from the water
Try plumbing everything in one system instead.
Depends on tank size, I skip the protein skimmer on smaller tanks and just rely on water change!
Why not move the fish and add an arrow crab or sally light foot crab to eat the Bristol worms.

How do you get rid of the bristol worms?
Arrow crabs eat bristle worms
Some wrasses eat them as well
Could also try traps, they sell bristleworm traps, or could do the soda bottle trap where you cut off the top and invert it.

How would I get people to watch my videos so I start getting ads? And atleast 1K subs
Solid content first, then work on solid thumbnail and titles; after that you got to be consistent... at least one video a week to maintain, ideally 2-3 for growth, and have to keep at it and not take breaks. It will be a grind, I'd say the amount paid is definitely not proportional to the amount of time and effort put in, at least at my stage and in this niche.

Depends on placement I think; light should still be able to penetrate, more concern about coverage 🤔
