I'm thinking of doing this with the tidal 110 filter. I have one already filled to the brim with just bioballs and another standard catridge HOB filled with carbon,chemipure, and purigen. Seems to be working, but I'd like to have a safe haven for copepods!
Thank you for this!!! Im going to do the same thing with an aqua clear 30. I found a smaller light, and in-tank aquatics makes a basket for that size as well. I will be running two aqua clear 30's on my 14g cube tank. One with chemipure elite, and the other setup much like yours is here.
Hey, additional question, how did you get your AC70 so quiet? Just got mine and it has a hum and motor noise to it and the lid makes a rattling noise, whilst in the video yours in almost inaudiable.
OMG! I didnt know you could buy spare parts and I threw two of them away! damn things have so many parts! Now I wanting to make a cheato or fuge! I could kill myslelf lol. Also how do you gat way with such little rubble in frag tank? I put way to much and its a bitch to keep clean!

You know what’s funny is my wife JUST threw my Penguin overflow filter that I had been saving in the garage. She was trying to get rid of junk. I’m trying to raise some clowns and was keeping all my Aquarium stuff for a situation like this. Really great idea!! But makes me upset that I don’t have mine still. Oh well. I’m also messing around with trying to build an Arduino/Raspberry Pi 3b setup. I would love to collaborate and brainstorm...

The intank basket is gorgeous but it’s so expensive. Especially when I have to ship to the UK. There are no stockists what so ever, I have ordered my aqua clear 70 from Germany,and will DIY the media basket to suit.
Wubaluba Dubdub yes, it is nice but quite expensive. You can probably make a suitable basket out of some knitting mesh and a few cable ties. That should only cost you a couple quid. Good luck!
What are the measurements on that Aquaclear 70? If I hang it on the back of the tank, how much space would I need between the tank and the wall (without the magnetic light)? I have pretty limited space.
You will want to give yourself 5 inches between the glass and the wall. This will give you enough room to install and service the filter. You could get away with around 4 inches but it will be really tight.

If you’re also wanting to do the chaeto fuge in it u can just sit a flat grow light on top of the filter. Instead of the magnet behind type

Honestly a hang on the back refugium like this might be a little small for a 65 gallon tank, but it certainly won’t hurt.

I honestly think it was kind of small for a 20 gallon, I doubt it would be suitable for a 40.
