I love the rather manic performance that Eisenberg gave it was pretty clear to me that Lex was likely abused for being autistic by his father, i just find it funny that people complained about that when this is clearly an origin story for him, Lex isnt done cooking yet

I agree, but also feel like this Lex played up his eccentricities and tics. If you look at him in Zack Snyder's Justice League, while his head and eyes still have a bit of that nervous energy, you can see that he is more assured, more controlled. I think Lex played up those particular "negative" traits so that, should his plans fail and he end up arrested, he would be able to plead insanity without questioning. He's actually quite smug about not being fit to stand trial when Batman confronts him in the jail cell. Well, up until Batman tells him he's going to Arkham and the facade breaks a bit.

    • @superjesusjackson
      @superjesusjackson  3 роки тому +3

Interesting. I didn't think about it that way! I think it fits with his evolution as Lex Luthor. As he gets more experienced and older, he starts being more "normal" and more composed. Makes perfect sense!

    • @Loptr-17
      @Loptr-17 5 місяців тому

@@superjesusjackson it's more like they showed us different sides of the character. He was more like a mad scientist in Batman v Superman (obsessed with power and jealous of Superman), and he would have been a more composed criminal-"business man" in the sequels.
By the way he would have become more like a rogue mad scientist again in Justice League 2, cause he was going to make experiments with the Apokolipsian motherboxes and the antilife equation, causing the "Knightmare" timeline to come true.
After Flash would have changed the past in Justice League 3, he would have been the one to destroy Darkseid's mothership too, sacrificing himself with a nuke in order to prove that he was "more powerful than the gods", and earth's real champion 🌎 😎

Stop saying it’s from “Birthright” when he does not resemble anything that he’s famously known for. Cold, calculated, and often times threatening as we seen in animation. Not a snobby, spoiled, rich brat who’s off his meds who talks about gods and nonsense. Plus, Birthright is flat out one of the worst comics in general.

I remember hating this version of Lex upon the movie's release and always saw him as the only bad thing about Batman vs. Superman which was other wise a masterpiece. However, upon multiple rewatches over the years mainly the Ultimate Edition, Jesse's Lex started to grow on me and found entertaining as I understood more and more and more of his masterplan. I understood to a degree already when I first saw the movie but with the rewatches I realized how deep and multi layered his motivations and plans were. Now I love Jesse's Lex wanting to see more of him and believe Jesse's Lex to be a perfect version of the character and second best Lex after Michael Rosenbaum's version. Also this Lex Luthor is the only one to have killed Superman and make Superman bow before him

This should have included talk of the scene in Justice League (Snyder’s- not Whedon’s). If it is clear Snyder had a long term plan for this character as well it is evident in that scene in succession with the character in BvS.
From the egocentric megalomaniac ‘child’ at the beginning of the movie to the cunning plotter at the climax, and the bald, scared, broken lunatic at the end after realizing something much worse than Superman is coming, to the determined, cold, and calculating self at the end of JL. By the end of the latter he was showing a look and behavior perfectly in line with the Luthor of the JL animated series or comics, and knowing he had a role to play in Darkseid’s invasion in JL 2, and presumably a price to pay in Superman’s rise as the hero we know in JL3, the ‘awkward’ performance from BvS being replaced by the assured determination in JL teased there was a bigger arc happening for him too.

I actually liked this version of Lex. He was more close to the earlier comics and more of an unhinged scientists. And hands down, this version is downright the most fearless and egocentric. Heck he even stood face to face in front of Doomsday and Superman himself and never flinched. Both who could easily destroy him. And I agree, this Lex felt like a breath of fresh air and didn't care about real estate and was infact more philosophical. Sure he's still unhinged and a brat, because he was young and all.

What made Lex so effective on pushing Bruce's buttons was it was established that Bruce is suffering from severe trauma, a PTSD. He was helpless and powerless to stop the robber from killing his parents. The batman persona helpled him cope with it. Like you said, to make sure no one has to suffer that same fate.
But the Zero incident reawakened that trauma. Bruce was helpless once again in the face of these god like beings. That what he did for 20 years didn't matter anymore. Like Alfred said, it can turn a good man into cruel.

Yes I am writing this( I am posting this
    everywhere)
WHY JESSE EISENBERG IS THE GREATEST LEX LUTHOR !!! (yeah that's right)
It is the same reason Henry cavil is the greatest Superman since Christopher Reeves
    - The why of him.
Jesse's Lex is a psychotic, mad scientist that is unstable and far too smart. He is obsessed with killing Superman AND preventing the age of heroes! He considers them "too powerful", " Dangerous ", " a threat".
This Lex is a GENIOUS, and he is incredibly rich and powerful .people say.....
    He is too crazy
He is as crazy as the joker
He does not fit Lex or act like him
    1) Zack Snyder is like Alan Moore. In the sence that he creates a world ... A believable, mature one where ideals, history, temperament and personalities are carefully crafted and purposely made to be realistic and depict an actual person. Not just a comic character. Lex's fears, angers, Hopes & dreams.Even when not fully explained, you know there is more to it.
    Childhood trauma
    Insecurities
    Excessive personality disorders
Maybe..... He is just a normal person gripped by the fear of the Supernatural that haunts certain people in the universe. And chooses to do something about it!
Or maybe all of the above.....
    2) Jared letos Joker is (rightfully) more deranged than Jesse's Lex is... By Faaaaaar.
Thank God! Both characters are perfect !
    3) He fits Lex - without hair ( like modern day)
    - with hair ( like original 1940s version)

      @richardabia9735 Рік тому

The truth is, Lex is the arch nemesis of Superman! A force to be reckoned with ! Not just a generic, evil deep voiced, bald rich guy.
No! Jesse eisenberg's Lex luthor is a force to be reckoned with!
      Super smart
      Psychotic
      Rich
      Mad scientist
      Bald( at some point )
Obsessed with HIS personal goal aka. Saving the world. Believe it or not, saving the world is, the why of him
Saving the world by any means ! No matter who/what he must kill/destroy/blackmail/bomb..... To save the world.
He is a complex character, every DC Snyderverse character is complex, but not HARD TO UNDERSTAND. so if you want to,... You will understand and see the beauty (which is better than coming to wrong stupid conclusions)
JESSE EISENBERG IS LEX LUTHOR! he embodies the best/worst aspects of the character and is a huge part of any event he is part of.....His character is unstable! But that is for you to imagine how his twisted, shady life has been
      This is the reason
The why of Jesse eisenberg's Lex luthor-
To save the world ! No matter how !
      "And aLEXander the great looked
upon his land and was pissed
      because the MAN OF STEEL
      was back in the sky!"

Ohhhh that gives them a trap door with that portrayal because no disrespect to Snyder but nobody wants to see a silly quirky nerdy lex luthor. I just couldn't get a vibe with the way they chose to take the character but it does make since for it to be his son because a lot of the newer generation is less menacing and more of a smart mouth smug techy/nerdy vibe. This comes from the late 80's and 90's where nerds were bullied or kinda clowned and now those nerds grew to control technology and got paid now this generation is like revenge of the nerds so they now control the narrative. If u notice now the villain the hero the victor in the movie is some kinda goofy nerdy character who blunders his way to victory. Not like the bad boys of old.

It is based off Jason Todd, just with a changed name. The plot still belongs to Jason..

Way too many holes in these movies. They rushed the universe to compete with the mcu. Such a wasted opportunity

Good points but I disagree, the best Lex Luthor(live action) is Michael Rosenbaum. Animated its Clancy Brown

The problem is Eisenberg's overacting, from the way he monologues to his body language - everything just feels forced and completely ruins every scene he is in.

Yeah, I can see that man. At first, I thought that to be the case too, believe it or not haha.

I too think this way, aside from some scenes. But thanks to one bit in the Ultimate Edition of BvS, I came to the conclusion that Lex, not Eisenberg, was doing that on purpose. To plead insanity and spend some years in a low security mental health hospital. He even was quite smug when he said he wasn't fit to stand trial. He just didn't count on the Bat pulling strings to get him sent to Arkham. That was one of the few times you see the facade break for a moment.

All in all BvS shoulda been two separated movies 😭
Why did Zack have to rush it so much

      I really appreciate it James!
And I really think it has more to do with the studio forcing creatives to implement certain things into the movies they create. It’s really no coincidence that this movie had Batman vs Superman while Marvel had Captain America vs Iron Man at the time it came out. It’s all marketing.

Non dovevano essere due film separati

I agree with you except for the parts where you were talking. Eisenberg's Luthor was an absolute trainwreck.
