Hi Kate, I'm so happy that you chose my rag doll sewing pattern for this video, and I love the added touches you included! I hope Agnes enjoys her lovely gift from you!
Oh! Hello Amie! I am really pleased to be able to thank you personally ! I checked out many patterns on Pinterest and yours was by far the best, simplest, most straightforward to use. I’;m so pleased you like what i did with it! Agnes - at 15 months - knew exactly what to do with her - she gave her the biggest, longest hug! Many many thanks xxxxxxxxxxx
Love this doll. Could you give us a look at you knitting another sweater. Give Agnes's doll a wardrobe update. Even if you wing it you 😊will still be so so helpful. When I watch you it brings back memories of my mother sewing for the 5 of us.❤😊. You even knot your needle like she did.😂
I would love this as a gift for me. So adorable. At the moment I am sitting here knitting a worry doll. Pattern in book Wound Up In Murder by Betty Hechtman. Very simple. Straight knitting.
I have a Humpty-Dumpty metal pincushion from the turn of the century (late 1800s-early 1900s) where you stab the pins into the velvet circle atop his head. Also a smaller one that is the metal head/shoulders replica of a crying child! Those Victorians had a mean streak... ha Most of the others in my collection are animals or birds.
I love how the hair looks on Agnes’s doll. I still have some crinkly sheep locks, perhaps merino, and a felting needle. I’m to become the great gramma of twins in July and if the are girls, I’ll make dolls or, hey, Even if they are boys or one of each they can have dolls, not just for girls!🦌💌❤️🐑
Absolutely, boy should have dolls as well. I think it helps to form their softer side a wee bit. My neighbor's son, when he was a little boy of 5 or so, would head straight for my dolls that I had set up at a little table having a bit of a tea party. He would play quietly for some time .
I have to agree!!! She's adorable and has such a sweet facial expression! Kate your love for little Agnes shines out through this lovely doll with such beautiful clothes as well. Blessings.
My youngest had a doll like this (it was mine originally ) she had many fancier dolls but that one was always her favourite. The others were given away but at 30 and married she still has this doll in her bedroom.
I still have a doll & quilt my nana made me when I was Agnes’s age. I’m 47 now! I’m sure she will love her and will love all the clothes she makes with you for her. Thank you for all your videos Kate they always make me smile ❤️❤️
Such a cute doll. Agnes is such a lucky little girl having you as her grandma . My mom made me an old fashioned doll about the same size. You made me "see" Mommy making mine for me 💜 I was in my 40s I think! The dolls name is Isabel (Mommy's middle name) thanks so much! Love your dolls hair & cute clothes. Love from Indiana. Sue
My heart just swelled a million times Kate., along with everyone else sitting here on the big LGC! How lovely that Agnes has you in her life. Fern in Minnesota
Oh Kate! She's gorgeous!!! I love handmade dolls! I've never seen felting of the hair before...thats super cool! I made my granddaughters a bunch of different cool masks n sent them in packages in the mail. They love them!!! I knitted a doll n gave it too my dog. He carrys it everywhere with him n even sleeps with her...lol
What a treasure for wee miss agnes...love that doll, clothes & hair. Perfect expression too...a real keepsake for miss agnes to gift to her child when the time comes
How lovely! my granddaughter brings me her dolls clothes so that I can repair them and I love doing it. 💛 Thank you for sharing such a beautiful gesture for your granddaughter.
Wish I'd have had a Grandma like you. Agnes has surely been blessed, and I cannot wait to see you both enjoying time together while you teach her many of your skills. What a host of wonderful childhood memories she will accumulate. Such a heartwarming video, Thank you.😊
I have a pair of the artery forceps that was part of my grandmother’s kit she trained as a midwife, children’s nurse in the mid 1920’s. Thank you for letting me know what they are and how I can use them now.
Kate, oh my gosh she's cute! That sweater is fabulous as well as the socks and the rest of her wardrobe. So happy you shared this with us. "Best Grandma" award goes to you. 😍 Cheers.
You make me laugh! “Definition of a cat: An animal on the wrong side of a door”.. Many years ago, I made my then nine year old niece a Holly Hobbie doll with two dresses and a pinafore. I still have the pattern and every time I come across it, I’m reminded of how difficult it was for me. But this pattern looks much easier, Your doll looks so cute!
I remember that pattern! I loved making the 3 foot Raggedy Ann and Andy rag dolls for my daughter. That led to a year of reading (and reading) the Raggedy Ann and Andy Stories written in the 1920's
This brought back memories for me making rag dolls for my granddaughter - not as good as yours! Agnes is going to love it; I could see the joy on your face making it. Thank you Kate.
She is so stinkin cute! I crochet teddybears, but this is another stunning piece of crafting. Also if I remember correctly those puch buttons were in one of your draws you cleaned out from the drawer series. 😁 Beautiful job Kate! 👍❤❤❤❤xxx
The rag doll is darling! I have an almost 2 year-old granddaughter and I’m sure she will love one for her birthday. I especially loved the cardigan; is there a pattern for it as well? All of your videos bring me so much joy. You are such a beautiful human being.
I am not a quilter or a sewer but your channel is so comforting. It is also a reminder that the best gifts are those made with love from the heart. Thank you.
Bravo Kate! My granny used to make sweaters/jumpers for our dolls and my mom made doll clothes. Lucky Agnes, her parents, and granny, too. Love is made from acts such as these and the memories last forever!!💕💜☮
Did you make a little quilt for the doll? 🥰 Agnes doesn't have a clue how lucky she is to have you❣️❣️ I absolutely adore the doll and your love for your grandbaby🥰
Kate, what a lovely treasure for Agnes and a joy for you in the making! I have my metal doll trunk with my baby doll and her wardrobe made by my Mom in 1953. She use to sew while I was napping and make me and my Dollie dresses that matched on her 1946 Singer Featherweight machine. I sew today on that very machine and hearing the lull of it almost puts me to sleepy nap time. I've made my kids clothes on it, my grandkids toys and clothes and most recently quilts and doll clothes for the great grand twins. Hope they have their treasures 70 years from now along with my trunk of treasures. You are a fabulous Grandma. Enjoy playing dollies with Agnes.
Years ago I made a China doll for my grandmother. She always wanted one as a child and never had one. I ordered the head, arms and legs, but I sewed the rest like you did, much bigger, though, and made the dress. My grandmother’s name was Agnes! I just found you on UA-cam and enjoy you very much! Sarah from Dallas, Texas
What a lovely doll you have made little Agnes. I am 68 years old and still have a doll my favorite aunt made for me! My doll moves around my house and sleeps in my guest room. Her name is Anne which has is now my granddaughters middle name. The doll which you made has made me shed a tear. Thank you and wishing you a beautiful and healthy 2021.
Near the end, you showed the candles turning the little cherubs. It took my breath away as I recalled my Mom had one just like it. Thank you for reviving that memory.
Very precious.....face, body, hair.....but especially the clothes! Knickers, vest , dress, and sweater, socks.....everything is just ever so cute. A adorable gift for little gal, Agnes!
My grandma taught me to embroider and quilt and I will always treasure the moments we shared. I know that your granddaughter will have those memories with you. You give me such joy and comfort when I spend time watching you. Thank you!
Needle felting the hair is brilliant. I am 70 years old and still have the doll my Mom made for me when I was about 3. She always made lots of doll clothes for me.
I’ve been eagerly awaiting this video! Thank you for sharing with us. It may seem silly but I feel like I can speak for my toddler, as well as myself in that somehow you feel like a member of the family. We both enjoy the videos so much, and they bring much comfort. Ian (1 year old) gets excited when he sees it’s your channel, and waits patiently for Norma! Blessings to you! Thank you Kate.
I am learning that all sorts of people like to watch The Last Homely House, cats too! So - hello to Ian - I should make a 'blooper reel' of all the times I've had to edit out Norma crashing the filming! ha ha! xxx
@@thelasthomelyhouse oh yes, please do! That would just make his day! He lights up and giggles when I say “let’s watch for Norma”. He’s pre-verbal but definitely gets his point across- he’s a cat man lol!
Oh my, this took me back 60+ years. My Yorkshire mum made me a rag doll. Her name was Tilly, and I cherished her for years and years. Mind you, Tilly was a deep maroon colour, probably because that was the only material Mum had on hand where we then lived, in rural NZ. It did not diminish my love.
Hi Kate! Tears in my eyes for the love and joy that you stitched in this little doll for Agnes. I know I am at least 2 years behind in the videos, but here I am. This little doll will be the best doll she will ever have. One that is so much fun to play with and one that will forever be the treasure from her Grandma's hands. Kate, you always bring me joy, in EVERYTHING you do. I hope that this finds you still well. I am slowly catching up, I don't like to skip ahead and miss anything that is happening in your beautiful world! Take good care, I'm always here on the big lime green sofa!
Can you imagine Agnes watching this video in the furture, being able to watch how much love her Grandma poured into her beloved dolly? I adore her hair, her cardigan and socks. The doll is adorable! What a lucky girl Agnes is to have such a talented Grandma! I am in awe of all that you do Kate! So enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing! Cheers, Valerie
Oh Kate what a Beautiful doll. I Love her hair and clothes. Agnes is a very lucky girl. I am 62 and I still have a doll and clothes that were knitted from a babysitter who handed down her doll to me when I was about 10 that her gram made for her. I treasure them to this day.
If these videos are preserved, then decades from now when Agnes is a Grandmother, she will be able to relish how much her Grandmother loves her. What a treasure.
Agnes' doll is so cute and loveable. The knitted cardigan and socks were such a sweet addition. Anyone of my 20 grand daughters would've loved receiving a doll like that. Thank you for sharing.
What a wonderful gift from such a loving grandma!! Could you please do a video on knitting that little cardigan and socks. Would love to learn how to make it for my granddaughter. Thanks for sharing!
Lovely. I used Velcro for young children as the buttons could get swallowed. I have a granddaughter who is in her 30’s and she put a bead up her nose 😳🙈😊. Had to be taken to hospital to remove it lol. We love to remind her of it. I am sure Agnes will love and cherish her little doll….❤
I saw this expression the other day. Handmade is Heartmade.... My grandaughter says that "homemade things are made from the heart" which is so true. Pretty thoughts from a 10 yr old.
That is a sweet little dolly! Just precious- I’m afraid of trying to felt - afraid I’d stab myself - ouchies! Hi everyone on the LGC - anyone want a slice of strawberry rhubarb upside down cake? It’s a lovely cake - think I might have to freeze most of it.
She's lovely! I'm so glad she hugged it straight away! I KNOW it was a gift of love because I made a doll and 2 outfits years ago and the arms, legs, and all the fiddly bits of the clothes were harder to make than a dress for me! You made it look so easy! And you even blocked that lovely little cardigan!
The doll is fabulous! Her hair is perfect, I love it. I wish when I was Agnes' age I had a grandmother to make things like this for me. Both sets of grandparents had passed on before I was born so I never met them. Agnes is a very lucky little girl.
That's a lovely doll. My grandmother made me one. She used an empty thread spool for a neck so the head would turn. I still have it but lost the shoes. I'll bet grandma didn't think I would still have that doll at the age of 60. Agnes will love it.
Agnes is one lucky little girl to have a grandma like you! I remember one year for Christmas my grandmother sewed a pair of matching pajamas for me and also a pair for my new doll that I got for Christmas.
I love this. Making dolls brings me such joy also. I laughed so hard when you said that “a cat is an animal who is on the wrong side of a door” because I had just let a cat through a door myself. What a beautiful doll! I love that hair so much.
That is so adorable! I have a rag doll my great aunt made me over 50 years ago! It's one of my most prized possessions. Hopefully Agnes will still have her doll 50 years from now too!
What a beautiful little doll which I'm sure will be cherished by Agnes for years to come. I have a doll my Nana gave me when I was born...64 years ago. She is barely stuffed anymore and her fuzzy pink skirt which makes the bottom of her body is almost thread bare but she is still my favorite. LOL
One day i will tell you kate about trouble bear but today i will say that I've made lots of dolls for my 5 daughters and 2 granddaughters. It gives me a wonderful feeling seeing them enjoy them
What a lovely doll. I had one very similar that my aunt made me seventy odd years ago. What a treat for your your granddaughter. It will be much loved.
The doll is adorable. Watching you create her brought to mind a memory of my youngest daughter and her favorite teddy bear she named Ed. Over the years, his fur was lovingly rubbed off and his nose lost it's shape and fur. My mom replaced the nose several times and made a vest to cover the worn away fur. My daughter is now 50 and still has that teddy bear and loves it just as much as when she was a toddler. Agnes will treasure the doll made with your loving hands for years to come.
Who in their right minds wouldn't love that dolly!? I am 73 and would treasure that. Agnes is one blessed little child. You did such beautiful work!! Thanks for sharing
I'm sure she will need another cardigan to wear when this one is being cleaned so you can record the making of that one and maybe the socks. She is just perfect. Thank you for sharing and inspiring us.

I love this. Making dolls brings me such joy also. I laughed so hard when you said that “a cat is an animal who is on the wrong side of a door” because I had just let a cat through a door myself. What a beautiful doll! I love that hair so much.
I Love your doll- just cuddly fun to have the doll🥰Take it everwhere
Love what you are making for Agnes-.fun!
LOL
I want to make these cute Dollie’s - thank you!-Sandi Myer🥰💕😂
A thing of beauty. I’m sure she DID LOVE IT
One day i will tell you kate about trouble bear but today i will say that I've made lots of dolls for my 5 daughters and 2 granddaughters. It gives me a wonderful feeling seeing them enjoy them
What a lovely doll. I had one very similar that my aunt made me seventy odd years ago. What a treat for your your granddaughter. It will be much loved.
Absolutely love this precious little doll!
What little girl wouldn't love to get that doll! She's wonderful. Agnes is lucky to have you for a grandma
That doll is so SPECIAL! Agnes will adore her? Great job Kate
Agnes is a lucky little girl to have you as her grandma!!! That doll is so precious, and I’m sure Agnes will have so much fun playing with her!
Who in their right minds wouldn't love that dolly!? I am 73 and would treasure that. Agnes is one blessed little child. You did such beautiful work!! Thanks for sharing
You are so kind xxx thank you!
What a perfect gift for a little girl! The fact that it's made by Grandma? Truly Priceless. I adore her hair and her sweet little face!!
I'm sure she will need another cardigan to wear when this one is being cleaned so you can record the making of that one and maybe the socks. She is just perfect. Thank you for sharing and inspiring us.
This is not an ordinary doll ! Agnes will love her and will ask for many new clothes as soon as she starts to talk.
