I have the same issues with Australis Lisa. I'm on my third now, and after losing leaves to mush, it's now putting out new growth. 🤷♀️ In exasperation, I did buy a no-name green Australis. It is growing like a weed even with mealybugs....As for alternatives to Lisa, in leaf size and similar inner variegation, I recommend Obovota variegated or H. Polyneura inner variegated; for smaller leaves, H. walliniana, H. Dennisii frida, H. Bella Lida Buis, H. Lacunosa queen midori..... For Verticillata Black Margin alternatives, I suggest H. Nathalie, H. Vittelina, and H. MA20. .... For silver leaf alternatives, I suggest H. Pubicalyx pink silver ghost, or any of the silver-leaved H. Lacunosas.... I love, love fuzzy hoyas! I have about 15 now. They're all doing well. I got my madulidii with very few leaves on it. I immediately snipped and propagated them in a humidity dome above a heat mat. I remove the dome during the day. This method has saved many of my plants. I think the heat mat makes a huge difference.
I HATE the Australis Lisa- I bought her once and managed to propagate a bunch of cuttings, each of which died a slow horrible death no matter what I do. They just love to drop leaves, maybe out of spite… but I’m shocked about the black margin parasitica- I bought a tiny one. Hung her in a (too big of a pot tbh lol) in a dry room by a north facing window with varying degrees of brightness and about a year and a half later she’s absolutely MASSIVE- and flowers for months at a go. I water when the (terracotta) pot feels light, don’t fertilize and haven’t touched her soil since potting her and she’s literally climbing the wall, the window, she’s just a huge, luscious girl that thrives on neglect and counter intuitive care! I’m telling you- so easy- and really unique looking of my 50+ Hoyas lol 🤷🏼♂️
I have a krohniana black that gave me so many problems. However, just when i was about to toss it, it decided to become a happy plant and is beautiful now!🎉
What hardiness zone are you in btw? I'm in a 6a zone and those are mostly zone 10 plants so I wonder if they'd struggle because of that alone if I got them. Asking because if you're zone 10 or closer to it then it makes sense that they'd thrive n I wanted to buy a macro and try again with another krohniana silver (had one before and it hated life)
@@jaclynns.jungle Thank you! I don't have space for a large deliciosa, but will look for the video to see if you suggested a plant with "the look" without the size. I have Rhaphidophora tetrasperma and M. Adansonii, but I'm sure there are others.
I have had my krohniana silver for about a year and a half and she's still thriving! I don't know how I lucked out finding one that was already so established and large (In a 6 inch hanging pot with 2-3 feet of growth hanging down). She's constantly throwing out blooms and I do feel like I need to water her more than my other hoya but she seems happy. Even her cuttings that I give away are still going strong! So maybe the trick is getting one that is already a beast and well established? My macrophylla also grows great for me and I don't treat her any different from the other hoya. I got her with only 2 or 3 leaves and now she's covered in growth and tendrils and seems to be always producing a new leaf or two when I check on her. Maybe my conditions are just prime for the more difficult hoya or I'm just lucky and get the good specimens 🤷♀
According to Summer Rayne Oakes, the macrophylla is appreciates more sweet/alkaline soil. She adds crushed egg shell/ oyster shell and when i tried that my plant did much better. Also, living in CT I have more acidic well water (5.5 ph) which I’m sure doesn’t help.
I am wondering if you are struggling with these hoyas because of rotts/pots issue. I have each of them and except if I water them in winter they are no brainer for me. I am cultivating them in 3d printed pot that are more like basket which let the air flow in the soil. They dry quite quickly but not to munch and they grow like weed if the weather is hot enought. Anyway very interesting video!
My macrophylla has been a rollercoaster. When I bought it I kept it outside for a couple weeks because the weather was nice, and it grew! Brought it inside - stopped growing for months. Moved it into semi hydro. Roots died. Regrew the roots in water and put in Pon again - Roots died. Now, I have it in just water again and am thinking I might have to just keep totally hydro: it's grown a huge root ball, a runner and multiple leaves, just in water.
Hoya loves super well drained soil. Most of your no buy list are doing well with me in my zone 10. I water my hoya once a week in summer and once in other week during cool seasons.
Wow, you hit the nail(s) on the head. My Krohniana black and splash are doing well. NOT my Kroh. Eskimo!! Think it's done for! Also my Hoya Rosita has struggled for months! Was thinking of buying a larger one. My Wayettii is doing well and I love it's variegation! I seem to have more issues with all the smaller, thinner leafed Hoyas. Guess I'm learning the hard way! Trial and error! My main exception is my Hoya macrophylla albo-marginata. It has been awesome and Ive had it about a year. 🤞🤞 Thanks for the tips on "instead ofs!". I recently got the Hoya Grey Ghost two- leaf rooted starter plant. Hope it makes it. I have Weimaraner dogs and they are known as Grey Ghosts!! 😂❤❤❤❤
I like to think of myself as a pretty proficient plant mom - Hoyas scare me all I think of is parasites. Do you think I can overcome this with extensive therapy?
I hope I don’t jinx myself, but my Hoya Australis Lisa and Latifolia Macrophylla are doing fine! The Macrophylla is a little wild and outgrowing the small bathroom window where it is hanging. Most of my Hoya seem to love being outside in a semi-shady spot, so maybe they enjoy the NW Florida climate. The only one I struggle with is the variegated Hoya rope. I can’t get the watering right. It looks dry or mushy and doesn’t grow. Maybe I should just stick it outside, too! 🌥️⛈️

Hi Jaclynn, oh gosh I really love so many Hoya. I had a Hoya australis lisa and it started so beautiful then died on me and I still might want to get another one, I am still dealing with those stupid mealy bugs, they are dieing finally and my Hoya are coming back. I think I will look for those Hoya you were telling us about that are good ones to get. You showed some really beautiful Hoya. Thanks so much again for another wonderful video, have a blessed and beautiful day sending love and hugs, bye!! 💜💜💜
OMG, krohniana silver, tell me about it. Last time my husband and I went to Des Moines before he died, we bought a krohniana silver and a curtisii. The curtisii was supposed to be the difficult plant. Hung it in a south window and it's been killing it. Just slaying. But the krohniana..... it had root rot and instantly the leaves turned into withered floppy bendy paper. I tried to wait it out, to give the roots time to re-establish, but after 4 months I repotted it in my own soil mix. The leaves have finally become firm and I think the plant is going to make it, but for crying out loud. What a diva.
Do you think it could be that the plant maybe had bad roots when you bought it? My krohniana super silver is doing well since I got it back in April. The curtisii has yellowing young leaves. I've put it directly in front of my sansi lights and a lot of humidity and now it's doing better.
My new guinea ghost grows like a weed. Just propergated it. Very thirsty plant and loves light. Very interesting video. Any tips for a sulawesi? the new leaves are thin and crinkled. Not like the original leaf which is a dinner plate type.☁😶🌫🌨🌩⛅
I had the hoya latifolia (macrophylla) but lost it during a move, it was ok it grew, I think I purchased it because of the hype honestly. I also have the dinner plate but it's struggling for some reason (bah) I really like this one. I have the hoya curtisii and it's thriving (stinky flowers though) so never felt the need for the khroniana hahaha Another lost due to the move, the parasitica black margin, it was hearty and forgiving when it got mealybugs and I sprayed it with alcohol something fierce. This plant and I had a bond which I took for granted... may have to purchase that one again. Finally, the NGG after repotting in pon, she has taken off like crazy. Beforehand, ah a leave here (smaller than the rest), nothing, then another small leave (end up losing it) and so on. I did get the hoya wilber graves china just in case and they both are doing quite well. ☁☁⛈🌥🌪🌪🌪giving clouds based on my experience with some of these hahahahaha - Thanks Jaclynn!!
I went crazy buying Hoyas during the pandemic. After a while I got tired of some of them or they didn’t do well in my care. I gave them to my sister. I have killed Rotundiflora and the Australis Lisa.
Lisa just keeps growing so quickly and also krohniana that I can’t keep up. All the plants you mentioned including the macrophylla and heuchkeliana I have the opposite experience. You found the heuchkeliana easier which I find not true. It’s only easier after it established but rooting could be a mess
Hi Jaclynn, Loved this Hoya video as well as the alternatives you suggested! Very enjoyable to watch , thank you. Your Hoya are gorgeous. I appreciate your suggestion not to sleep on the Carmosa Nova Ghost. I plan to order this one and I look forward to growing her. Take care! ⛅️☁️☁️. 👌🪴🥰
@@jaclynns.jungle I’m really looking forward to growing her. I’m encouraged by your optimistic view of her growth habits. Thank you for sharing. Happy growing to all of us! 👌🪴🥰
So funny- all the ones you say you can’t grow except the New Guinea Ghost (which I don’t have) are doing great for me and I would list them as my favorites!! There are some plants though that I also just can’t grow either! Thanks for your channel- love your content!
I just restarted my Lisa because of root rot. I love the Lisa look, but also if none of the cuttings root and grow well I don’t think I’ll be mad. 😂 I love my super silver though. It seems to be doing well for me. I hope it continues because I think they’re really pretty.
Girl!! I have to agree with you 100% on the krohniana super silver! I bought (2) two leaf/two node cuttings like a year and a half ago. They rooted up and are still alive, but have yet to push out any new growth for me! I'm so sad because I wanted this plant so badly. I'm not giving up on my cuttings, they're in my grow tent, but I don't have much hope. On the flip side, I have to 100% disagree with you on the black margin! I love mine and it grows like a weed for me! I love the black margins but personally, I got it for the abs. Sorry it didn't work out for you because it's been a great one for me. I've also killed an australlis Lisa. I didn't have it for long at all and it went to mush. I have however had the green form and it's going crazy for me.
I'm so glad your black margin is doing well!! I'd found a huge one at Trader Joe's but after a few months it was down to sticks 🤷🏻♀️ sometimes they just don't wanna be part if the fam, lol
Bummer I just bought the H Macrophylla albomarginata & the H Kroniana eskimo. Yes, please do lots more videos like this one. Loved the concept & the content. Love your vibes! 😊
The NGG, from what my plant peeps have told me, is a very thirsty plant and generally does best in semi-hydro. Mine died so I can’t confirm, but that seems to be the consensus with all my local hoya heads.
Ahh yes, I have the same experience with Krohniana silver! 😭 I have killed several of them, and it makes me so sad, because they are so gorgeous! I have found a compromise, with the lacunosa leopard skin! Such an easy going plant, and it's very silvery! 😍
☁️ Good Video! I need to try the carnosa ghost. I’ve had good luck overall with the macrophylla. I’ve had it for 4 years now. It was a little temperamental in the beginning but I have found it likes to be drier than some other Hoyas before watering. I got a super silver I haven’t had it long who i purchased it from it already had some wrinkling leaves. I’ve had it for like 2 months. I did read where they do not like the orchid bark mixture as much as some Hoya so a few nights ago I put it in a Hoya mix that I have had good luck with from repot me. So I will see if it makes any changes for the better. And the Lisa I’m with you on that one. To fussy.
Loved this video, thanks for the insight. Got a krohniana silver at homedepot early June and it's on the struggle bus. 😢 dropping it's leaves and I don't know if it will last. Just picked up the krohniana black this week and keeping my fingers crossed.
Love your content all the time! I just wanted to mention I have a macrophylla rooted cutting living in water and I also have an australis Lisa and I think just a green australis living in water too! Both of those were not rooted at all and now they have a bunch! All three are thriving with new growth and I'm super excited about that. ❤⛅🌤️😍
I feel the same way about the australis lisa I've tried so many times trying to grow that plant. I had all sizes of that plant and they all died😅 I even had a full beautiful full basket and that died so bad. I was sooo sad because it was a gorgeous plant. I thought I was doing something wrong and it had drove me crazy. ☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁
I agree with you. I've had 2 latifolia pot of gold, and both died. I have latifolia albo- marginata, and it's struggling. I'm not sure why it's struggling, but I refuse to purchase anymore. I'm done also.😅
I have the SAME MUSHROOM POT!! HOME SENSE!! LOL .... I also commented a while back that I have the framed beetle print! So funny .... same exact taste ..... lol .... right now I've been sculpting some mushroom wall art and plant pots. I'm so picky with pottery for my plants that I decided to purchase the gray toned terracotta pots and sculpt designs with mushrooms, insects, moss etc. on them! Once I'm finished I would love to send you one!
Okay, so we might be the same person. David just bought me supplies yesterday to start painting mushrooms and insects onto terracotta pots! What are you using to sculpt?! Are you on Instagram?
@@jaclynns.jungle I'm using sculpey clay with clay adhesive to sculpt the mushrooms and moths etc. Or air dry clay with a good craft glue. Air dry is a little easier since there's no baking involved. Depends on your crafting style. I like both types for different reasons. With the backable scupley.... Since terracotta can take heat I sculpt on the pot and bake it at 275 for 20 minutes. I haven't painted on pots yet, but I want to! I don't have an instagram yet, but I'm going to make one when I have the pots finished. . I work in sections because the terracotta absorbs the glue. So I make the mushrooms, bake them alone, and then I attach them with some fresh clay and the sculpy adhesive, then bake that ... I continue those steps till I feel the pot is complete. You can also just buy cute clay molds for faster turnover. I'll use the clay mold of choice, and place the clay piece on the pot .... place the pot sideways in the oven so the design takes on the curve of the pot .... then when it's done I use super glue to attach it. All kinds of options! Just takes experimenting!
My hoya krohniana super silver has thrived on neglect. I have it kind of behind my curtisii and I water it about half as often or less because I'll just miss it. I'm in Georgia, so it is rather humid on a daily basis and warm (hot).
@@jaclynns.jungle exactly. I have a friend in Massachusetts. Very different conditions. My outdoor humidity right now is 70% (according to my weather app).
☁️ I like that you offer alternatives. I have struggled with Krohniana Black, Lacunosa Mint and Parviflora. There always comes a time when the leaves become soft/limp and I try to figure out if it’s dry or rot or dry rot! 😂 It’s so annoying. I move them to another substrate - fluval, pon or moss - and they usually die. I’m not sure if trying a larger specimen will help or not. If the ones I currently am nursing die, I’m done.
I find that, where most hoyas are fine, Lisa can't cope with winter temperatures and often drops leaves if it isn't away from the window in the colder months. The khroniana is temperamental with the watering - must have lots of drainage and be kept dry in the winter.
I hear you on the H.Australis Lisa.I gave up on her.Tried 3 times. On the other hand i have the khroniana silver and its doing good. And the Macrophilla have it for 4 yrs and only 1 leaf have given me😢
I have a question for you. My krimson queen that only gives me white leaves last year I cut it back to after the last green leaf. The next six leaves came in white. T
The Macrophylla has been one of my easiest to grow ever. It grows like weeds. I have several and they are huge. They all started off as baby plants with very little foliage. I wish I had some tips for you but I don’t do much but monitor for pest and water when dry. And I fertilize when I water. I keep the largest one in a window with bright light. It’s HUGE. I’m sorry you struggle with that one. 🥴
Australis Lisa was my "gateway hoya." I had Compacta and Compacta Variegata, but wasn't looking for any other hoyas when I found a really good sized Lisa at a nursery. That really fueled my interest in hoyas and now I have more than 80. Lisa has thrived EXCEPT she got mealies and they don't want to leave her alone. It's really frustrating. Regarding the others, neither Macrophylla nor Parasitica Black Margin do it for me. Can't really explain why, but I have never liked either one. I have a Krohniana Silver. It's fine. It doesn't struggle, but it doesn't really grow either. I just got New Guinea Ghost a few weeks ago, so we'll see how it goes. I know you said that you don't like any of the Australis varieties, but have you tried Tenuipes? Mine is growing in an East window -- so not totally blasted with light -- and I love it. It has huge leaves and has really done well.
My black margin has 3 peduncles right now, really healthy on my patio. My Macrophylla is taking off, and my lisa needs to be repotted, they are all on my patio in Southern California. My regular Lacunosa is covered in peduncles, my Krohiana silver is growing good🤞💚🍃
It'd be useful to say the conditions you've tried the plants in :) I've comin to realixe my home doesn't do well for a lot of aroids -- too cold. We just had an unusual three day, officially labled heat wave -- alerts sent out, public pools made free, etc. Max temp iirc: 84 degrees lol. Lotta people don't have AC so it was an actual threat Our max temps are usually 50s-60sF year round. I thought I just sucked with some plants -- which is still likely true tho, but some just need higher temps to thrive. My lisa is alive but just doesn't grow much. Mealies love her and her less variegated sister, more then other hoyas.
I've honestly only had issues with the queen Anthurium! So I've bought all the other long leaf types instead and some hybrids! I'm not sure what ambient humidity would be exactly, but I grow all of mine in 60-80% I need more time to grow them before I can say what I think is more difficult than others. But usually if you can find a hybrid of the more finicky types, you'll be totally fine! 🩷
The macrophylla was slow for me but it started to grow in the spring. One of the first hoyas that started in the spring for me. Had to be the super growth elixir. I lost an entire hanging basket of the khronia super silver 😢 Knock on wood but my khroniana black is thriving and I have a cutting of khroniana Eskimo and splash is going strong 😬 So far so good on the Australia Lisa 🤞yes! I will never buy a NGG again. I have a thing for Wilbur graves 😂🤦☁️🌨️
☁️🌥 So...the kroniana silver is annoying but I haven't given up yet...lol. As far as a replacement for the black margin...I have a hoya fusco marginata that is really similar in looks and it gets the black margins too but it is harder to find.
My super silver kroniana was doing great until my move. Got too dried out and never recovered. And it bloomed for me too so that made me sad. The Calistaphila 2x 💀, S8gillatis 💀, my Lisa had been stagnant but now new growth...lost my Princess, my Queen lost half, Compacta pretty stagnant but gave her a repot as a hail Mary
My Macrophylla have both been taking off. I have the Crassipetiolata splash & she’s pushed out new growth. I got the Silver Dollar as a bonus plant….she was semi rooted with 1 leaf. She’s pushed out 2 leaves & working on more…..she’s stunning & I want her to sunstress!!! 😎😎😎😎🪴🪴🪴🪴
I have trouble with the curtisii and the Australis. They just melt. I have no idea why we don't get along. I may try again because I'm a glutton for punishment 😊
I'd say hydro is an answer. I have all of those hoyas, they're thriving and I don't have much knowledge about plants so it's not me. I never really thought there are "hard" hoyas
I feel like the hoya macrophylla albomarginata you have to buy big and established, because my one I bought wasn't established and I really struggle with it. I thought about just buying a big beautiful plant and starting over 😂.
There are few plants that don't adjust well in my environment, monsteras, alocasias and especially cat palms. Love them all but my environment doesn't have the regulated conditions they thrive in.
☁️ Really liking these don’t buy/try this instead videos… my black margin definitely bit the dust and I’ve wanted a macrophylla albo marginata. Not anymore! Since you mentioned thin leaved Hoya being problematic, do you have any experience with the polyneura?? That’s also been a wishlist plant. 🫣
Yes yes yes - H. Khroniana silver just melts away for me for no apparent reason. I have what is left of a super lush 6 inch pot and it bloomed! I think it bloomed because she prob thinks she is on her way out!!🤣. H. Latifolia Macrophylla also - I cannot keep alive and I don’t even bother anymore. I have other Latifolias which are doing fine so I don’t know why the macrophylla doesn’t like me 🤷🏻♀️. I’ve never had the NGG🫠

Try selfwatering pots
Do you think it could be that the plant maybe had bad roots when you bought it? My krohniana super silver is doing well since I got it back in April. The curtisii has yellowing young leaves. I've put it directly in front of my sansi lights and a lot of humidity and now it's doing better.
My Eskimo has been crushing it in Leca, nonstop flowers. It's called an Eskimo by the way, don't ever let commies control your speech.
I have the hoya curtisii and it's thriving (stinky flowers though) so never felt the need for the khroniana hahaha
Another lost due to the move, the parasitica black margin, it was hearty and forgiving when it got mealybugs and I sprayed it with alcohol something fierce.
I actually feel the same about all the hoyas you described! They just don't work for me, but thanks for the alternatives! ☁️☁️☁️☁️
I have the black margin. It’s doing well for me.
Thank you for this! I definitely just added all the silvery hoyas to my wish list 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I went crazy buying Hoyas during the pandemic. After a while I got tired of some of them or they didn’t do well in my care. I gave them to my sister. I have killed Rotundiflora and the Australis Lisa.
I’ve tried and failed on the first four you talked about! So nice to know I’m not alone!
I feel so validated in my feelings for the Lisa. That girl is drama all the time. ⛅️☁️🌧️
Lisa just keeps growing so quickly and also krohniana that I can’t keep up. All the plants you mentioned including the macrophylla and heuchkeliana I have the opposite experience. You found the heuchkeliana easier which I find not true. It’s only easier after it established but rooting could be a mess
As a new Hoya collector, I appreciate the feedback on growing, alternatives etc.
For sure! Don't be afraid to try them out for yourself though! 😊
@Jaclynn Hi I am new to your channel and it is helping me decide on which Hoyas I should buy or not. Thanks ❤
I'm happy to help! 😊
Take care! ⛅️☁️☁️. 👌🪴🥰
You're gonna love the nova ghost!!
Thanks. I do not have a lot of Hoya. They are pretty but I prefer philodendron. ⛅️
I just restarted my Lisa because of root rot. I love the Lisa look, but also if none of the cuttings root and grow well I don’t think I’ll be mad. 😂 I love my super silver though. It seems to be doing well for me. I hope it continues because I think they’re really pretty.
Wow, I have a Australus Lisa and I love her so much, she sits in a west window, in a Clay pot, I'm having problems wit my Krohniana black🎉
All of the ones you struggled with are doing well for me. 😭 I find my Lisa is a little more thirsty Ike my Curtisii.
I'm right there with you on Lisa....I've had it 3 times and it's ☠️ every time. ☁️
The NGG, from what my plant peeps have told me, is a very thirsty plant and generally does best in semi-hydro. Mine died so I can’t confirm, but that seems to be the consensus with all my local hoya heads.
When I moved mine to pon, it took off like crazy.. Need to put it on a trellis now - great suggestion for this one
Can you tell me were you got your shelves? Thank you!❤😊❤
IKEA, they're called vittsjo
I love Hoya yay my heart is full💖Hoya C.Nova Ghost my favorite🥰I am hoping it will grow in my care😊thanks for sharing your knowledge⛅️⛅️⛅️
☁️ loved the video, though I have to say that I love my Hoya macrophila and Australis Lisa.
Love your content all the time! I just wanted to mention I have a macrophylla rooted cutting living in water and I also have an australis Lisa and I think just a green australis living in water too! Both of those were not rooted at all and now they have a bunch! All three are thriving with new growth and I'm super excited about that. ❤⛅🌤️😍
Try selfwatering for krohniana silver. She grows so good in my care. She is huge
Totally off topic and as a very happy curly girl, your hair looks great today. ❤
Loving your content.
Thanks love!! I'm a wavy girl, trying to get my shape back, but I was lazy so I blew it out, haha!!
Happy to see I’m not alone with the Khroniana Silver thoughts!! ☁️☁️☁️
Love this video and so happy to know I'm not alone on the bad luck with the Australis Lisa ❤
I'm done also.😅
I'm so over it lol I had pot of gold too and it just never grew nicely for me
I have the SAME MUSHROOM POT!!
😱😱😱🤣🤣❤️ I love my Australis because it had SOOO many flowers
Love all the Hoyas. Having trouble with cv elephant. So far 2 died. I should be getting a new one this week. Cloud ⛅️
My hoya krohniana super silver has thrived on neglect. I have it kind of behind my curtisii and I water it about half as often or less because I'll just miss it. I'm in Georgia, so it is rather humid on a daily basis and warm (hot).
I think it just likes your environment better 😊
Sometimes, we just get burned by a plant, and we're over it! That's the main reason why I won't buy any of these again!
Loved this video.
I find that, where most hoyas are fine, Lisa can't cope with winter temperatures and often drops leaves if it isn't away from the window in the colder months. The khroniana is temperamental with the watering - must have lots of drainage and be kept dry in the winter.
Too much of a hassle 😅
My krohniana super silver has been a weed from day one!! But currently struggling with my small heuschkeliana 😢☁️☁️☁️
I'm glad that you enjoy growing yours!! 😊
Love that beautiful anthurium in the background❤❤❤
My regular Lacunosa is covered in peduncles, my Krohiana silver is growing good🤞💚🍃
It'd be useful to say the conditions you've tried the plants in :)
I've comin to realixe my home doesn't do well for a lot of aroids -- too cold.
I grew them in my home environment. I live in the northeast
That's so weird, my Macrophylla Varigatta is growing like crazy for me and blooms all the time. Bought it from Marketplace with 3 leaves 🧡🌿
Mine used to do well for a while, then decline. Do well, then decline again. It was always a rocky road for us lol
@@jaclynns.jungleI have mine in a 3.5 inch terracotta pot. My only hoya in that. I don't know if that makes a difference
Can you do one like this one but for anthurium you have tried and found better ones that look similar? Maybe focus on ambient humidity ones 👀
I've honestly only had issues with the queen Anthurium! So I've bought all the other long leaf types instead and some hybrids! I'm not sure what ambient humidity would be exactly, but I grow all of mine in 60-80%
I need more time to grow them before I can say what I think is more difficult than others. But usually if you can find a hybrid of the more finicky types, you'll be totally fine! 🩷
Omg Jaclynn I was thinking about you and I get on and this video popped up. I’ve been on a hiatus from everything 😄. Great video as always!!
Glad you enjoyed it! 🥰
My Lisa loves the PON lifestyle 😁
Bahaha also with the Hoya "Karen". I do fine with the non variegated, but the Lisa just dies every single time 🤦🏼♀️
she just melts away every time -__-
@@jaclynns.jungle I just don't understand why!?
So glad I'm not the only one struggling with new guinea ghost!
I tried, lol, but I'm over it. There's plenty of other silver leaf Hoya!
I love the Sarawak too. But I killed mine. I couldn’t get it to root. Finally I gave up but I’d love to try again.
Root in water! Super fast and easy for Hoya!
I love Hoya
I have had trouble with the khronian too but just literally bought a super silver today last chance 🤣
I have a macrophylla pot of gold and it's a diva, always dropping off new leaves it starts.
Mine finally kicked the bucket after a few years of doing NOTHING 🙄
I have trouble with the curtisii and the Australis. They just melt. I have no idea why we don't get along. I may try again because I'm a glutton for punishment 😊
I'd say hydro is an answer. I have all of those hoyas, they're thriving and I don't have much knowledge about plants so it's not me. I never really thought there are "hard" hoyas
But I have two Lisa's, one in hydro, one in soil, both doing fine. So maybe it's more complicated
I feel like the hoya macrophylla albomarginata you have to buy big and established, because my one I bought wasn't established and I really struggle with it. I thought about just buying a big beautiful plant and starting over 😂.
I'm not a fan of the Krohniana silver either.. but I do like the black margin.
Holy crap your plants look amazing 🤩
There are few plants that don't adjust well in my environment, monsteras, alocasias and especially cat palms. Love them all but my environment doesn't have the regulated conditions they thrive in.
The question is do I cut before or after the last feen leaf? Like I said I cut after the last time. I need some help here.
Before! The node where the growth comes from should be from the green portion of the plant
@@jaclynns.jungle Thank you so much. Out come the scissors. ✂️
Hoya lisa is one of my favourites
One that I've had a hard time growing is the hoya Carnosa Compacta variegated. I'm on my second plant and it isn't looking good.
That's definitely one that I'll never buy again
Thanks for the recommendations! ⛅
Happy to help! 😊
I like the concept of this video. If you’re having trouble then I’m sure I’ll have trouble.
Glad you liked it!
Macrophylla only ever did well for me in direct sun on my porch
☁️
Really liking these don’t buy/try this instead videos… my black margin definitely bit the dust and I’ve wanted a macrophylla albo marginata.
Great video! 😃 Glad I found your channel ❤
☁️☁️☁️😊
Me too! Thanks for hanging out 🥰
How about Hoyas I promised not to ever grow again but then I did! And how it went.
I for sure have a lot of those now, haha!
