Ironically, I bought a really small cutting of Meredithii and a well-established Sarawak plant. I bought my Meredithii sometime last year and she has been growing pretty steadily for me. When I bought her, she was in a tiny plastic cup. I repotted her right away because she kept falling over. I repotted her again a few months ago. She recently put out the most amazing and enormous leaf! But right now, she only has a tiny little vine and no signs of a new leaf or more growth. I'm a little worried that she may be stalling out, but it remains to be seen. I've only had the Sarawak a couple of months. My daughter was with me when I bought it and, though she isn't a planty person, she said, "She's a beaut!" And she is. 🙂
I loved this video, thanks!! I just started with Hoya last fall and most were cuttings, so pretty slow growth so far. Your Super Growth Elixer recommendation has been a game changer! My most trying cuttings have been Polyneura, Parasitica black margin, Variegated Heuschkeliana, and a variegated Wayetii.
I generally use water to prop liniarus. Cut and let callus and put in water. Change out water frequently. You might want to use a two-step process, maybe start in water and move to tree fern. Then chunky mix. Good luck!
🌼🌸🏵 I pretty much have had the same experience with hoya. My small lacunosa snow caps kept dying so I bought a bigger more established one and it's doing better and growing. I just recently purchased from Palmstreet a 2 leaf sarawak start. Hopefully it grows well.
Yeah Mathilde is my fav. ❤ I got a little one (high splash) and it wasn’t doing a thing and then I put it in a cabinet and boom!💥 it started growing like crazy. I still want a big bushy one.
Only buy linearis locally fully established. They do not ship well at all!! Also, they prop crazy easy but you need to use high humidity! Perlite, tree fern fiber and fluval all work but keep them at 100% humidity for 3 weeks then put a hole for air, leave it for 2 to 3 more weeks and you're good to go! They're just finicky to acclimate so slowly decrease humidity over a month to ambient. Works 100% of the time!!😊 😂
All but 6 Hoya that I have, have been in 4” pots. The others are starter plants & 2 large hanging baskets. All are growing like CRAZY!!! I have realized I need to adjust my grow lights & move them all around. 😎😎😎😎🪴🪴🪴🪴
Whenever I get a hoya stuck not growing up give it a drenching. More times than none they've shot out a growth point for me. Maybe take that dinner plate to the sink and rinse the eff out of it
Oh my God that hoya meredithii is so stunning 😍 I don't know why, but it didn't catch my eye until this video! I'm going to have to try and find one for sale :)
Hi Jaclynn, Fantastic job on this Hoya video! I enjoyed it very much! I have some of these same Hoyas and based on my plant journey, my experiences have mirrored yours. I recently purchased a Chicken Farm Hoya with 2 nodes and 2 leaves in a four inch pot and just this week I found a small bloom on her. I was thrilled. On the other hand, I have a large Hoya Princess that has not given me a bloom in five years. Fortunately for me, I bought her for her leaves so it’s all good here on my end.🥰. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous Hoyas and for all the information you share with us on Hoyas. Greatly appreciated, as always! Take care. 🌹🌸🌼🌻🌷🌺 👌🪴🥰
If I were to purchase a hoya tomorrow the first one looks most appealing in looks and all. In years past I wanted a hindu rope but quickly changed my mind not because it's slow growing but trying to get rid of mealy bugs in all those crevices. What a nightmare it would be! I have no patience for that kind of thing. The ironic part of the video was calling the one hoya a "dinner plate". I would call it a "salad plate", ha A little plant humor there, Jackie.
I have a single strand of Hoya Hindu rope and it is not my favorite plant, but can’t bear to part with it 😂. Thank you for sharing the links to the products you use. I broke down and used your link for the bigger Lacidoll humidifier along with some other plant items I needed.
I know a UA-camr who had the same issue as you. Her dinner plate Hoya would not grow then she cut I propagated it and all 3 three grew beautifully. Mind you, she had 3 leaves on her specimen I am happy Gunung Gading is on that list because my teeny tiny 2 leaves specimen has been brooding for a long time. However since yesterday I can see and fell some changes. In desperation I put it in PON and tiny roots are showing up and the leaves are firm now. 😊
I have a Meredithii which ive had for maybe a month and a half and a Dinner Plate Hoya that I've had for a little over a year and they are two of my favorites. They both are growing pretty well, they're enjoying being on my balcony. Also love the mathilde. I recently purchased a Gunung Gading after seeing yours forever and im in love 😍😍💚🌺🌻💐🌹🌷🪷🌸🏵️
I love my Hoyas so much! My Minnibellas is in bloom. I was shocked to see it! My Krohniana Silver has 6 clusters blooming. And of course the always blooming Multiflora. I’m finding so many peduncles on so many plants. I also use Urban Gardener spray and swear by it. Your plants are amazing 🪴
I almost ran out of my super growth elixir and went to purchase more but the refill bottle was sold out. I was so bummed but I ended up buying the 3 pack because I was not about to let it run out! My hoyas love it. I remembered to use your code this time too!
Im in love with your Hoya Sarawak 😍 Hoya Meredithii now finally starts to grow again for me after like half a year (it did make one new leaf before). For reference… all (except 2) of my other Hoyas have grown waaaaaay sooner/faster (and theres a lot of them) 🤔 Maybe it can also depend on the type of Hoya Meredithii, there are many different accession numbers out there and some may be faster than others? I know mine is a GPS-1105
Hey girly! I had the same trouble with my dinner plate. Put her in Pon and gave her higher light. She seems to like access to water. I have her currently in no drainage in my Pon mix. Maybe try it out!
Not really! From a cutting can be challenging but not impossible! I prefer to buy them bigger, but people have a lot of success rooting and growing them from small plants. I debated putting it on the list, but it really depends on the person, I think!
@@jaclynns.jungle I thought you were going to I kept saying to myself every time you were like, the next plant on the list for the first half, I was like polyneura and then it wasn’t😅🤣
I’ve had great luck propagating linearis in stratum and plain old water I feel so much better that I’m not the only one who killed the variegated wayetti! I’m on my second small one and had to put it stratum cause I started killing it again 😅 it’s going in pon next so it will hopefully survive me, otherwise I’ll be taking your advice and getting a big one.My calistophyla and Mathilde are going crazy in pon. They love pon
🌸🌼🌸🌼 Great video! I sometimes just want a full pot and find it hard to wait on cuttings. I am struggling with the linearis cutting too. Would love to find a large one for a good price. Haven’t seem them anywhere
I’ve struggled with small Lacunosa cuttings There are so many beautiful varieties but leaves can get dehydrated during shipping in my experience. I’m currently experimenting and trying to figure it out. I also think getting a large Linearis is a good idea. I got a small one but I think I’ve finally figured it out.
Hi Jaclynn, gosh I really love so many Hoya, I do have one of those Wyettii and it is doing fine but I want the variegated one and will look for one to buy. There were alot of my Hoya that got those stupid mealy bugs and I lost a few of them and I will be looking for those to buy again because I love so many Hoya for sure. Those propagation pieces of the Hoya Chelsea that you sent me is doing so great and I love it everytime I look at it and also those other plant starts you sent me are still alive and doing good also, I get so much joy everytime I look at them and think of you being such a sweet planty friend of mine. Thanks for sharing all of your beautiful plants and especially the Hoya, Have a blessed and beautiful day, sending love and hugs, bye!!
Kentiana is very rare, and the majority of the time, it's just wayetii being mislabeled. If you have seen true kentiana, you would immediately see the difference in the leaves. But no one actually sells true kentiana. I have a video about it from years ago in my plant comparisons playlist! Somewhere along the line, a grower mislabeled, and that's all it takes for the confusion to begin. So whenever you hear kentiana, assume is wayetii unless the seller specifically calls it TRUE kentiana and is an expert in Hoya!
I hadn't tried hoya since I was in my 20s and many many years later my friend gave me a dinner cutting in Nov. I did perlite prop and today I have a new leaf and it is almost as big as the mother leaf
My meredithii was a single leaf cutting from a planty friend for 10 months. I finally got another leaf recently and I am so curious to see what she does next. The dinner plate is on my wishlist and I am ok waiting a year but not 7 😂

None of those surprises me tbh. I was going to add them all to the list of ones to buy big! I'll have to do a part 2
The Pubicalyx Royal Hawaiian grows really fast. Even faster than other pubicalyx varieties I’ve had. That one you can definitely purchase small.

Girl yes- I am so spooked every time I prop a lineairs 😣 I finallyyyyy got some cutting to root but it was terrifying.

I'm definately going to buy me a gunung gading now 😍❤
My sunrise did not want to grow for me and died 😢
There's definitely exceptions for all of these. I'd just stick to buying them rooted if you're having a hard time!
Im having a hell of a time with my hoya Deykeae it grows a leaf and then it drops it, just cant seem to get anywhere after two years with it.
Those hoya blooms are so adorable ❤
I just love them 🥹
I must have a Hoya 👌Your' s are wonderful 🤩
I love Hoya and some are so slow 🤣🤣 but my linearis I bought larger and it’s growing crazy 🤪 🌺🌸🌼

But who can afford a $100 for a plant that may die. Better to spend $12 if you lose the plant, you aren't out as much.

🌸🪻🪷 I totally love your Hoya collection!
I bought a variegated wayettii in a 3 in hanging basket from canopy plant co and it is growing like crazy
