Thanks a bunch. From another video I learned that if your spark of from 0-20 m away, it will simply land and not come back to where you actually took off. It sure feels scary when the Spark is so far away that I can't see it nor hear it, but it sure is comforting to know that the RTH button will bring it back. And it sure does feel good when you once again begin to hear it and you know, its not lost.
This happens if RTH at current altitude is switched off, if activated, the drone will not land immediately, but RTH at its current altitude. RTH at current altitude does not affect the drone's RTH behaviour, when it's more than 20ms away.
Good video thanks for sharing! I never knew you can manually set the home point. I have not been using RTH much. I mostly fly back manually using GPS. I finally figured out the RTH button on the controller has to be held down to initiate RTH.
Instead of using the icon in rh corner, there is another one in the top center that takes you straight to the rth function. Good video, I learned what I wanted to learn from it. TY
The RTH current altitude only applies when flying in the distance of 3-20m if this is enabled. Anything beyond 20m and up in distance, the set altitude is activated when RTH is initiated. In your case 50m
Alot of people have misunderstood this option. If RTH is not enabled, the drone will land at it’s current position any where from 3-20m if you’re flying within this distance. For instance if you are surrounded by water and you fly the drone in the distance of 18m and want to RTH, the drone will just land where it’s at and not go home. In order for the drone to come home, you must turn on the RTH current altitude..
I have set the RTH as instructed. I receive the confirmation. I flew it off around 20 yards away. I pressed the RTH button and the drone immediately began descending to land where it was currently located. I have tried it several times, it never comes back to the spot where I set the RTH.
Nice one mate, I was wondering where to find the return to home bit to adjust the hight, Thank you so much, I have pressed the big red button and also rung the bell.
Hi Dylan, I am a new user and I just started using my Spark. I like using the active tracker while Im kayaking down river so my question is- Is there anyway to have the Spark come back to me in my kayak automatically (as RTH...return to remote controller) rather than waiting for the first battery warning and then having to stop and fly the Spark manually to my location and to a nearby safe landing spot?
Had my first serious DJI Spark accident after 7 years flying with it... I setup the Home Point and was flying over a way not over 4 feet from the ground. The battery was about 10% and it took the decision to RTH by itself... Then it hit a tree and fell down in a lake... Apparently it is still working... but I am wondering how this accident could be avoided... I was about to land it seconds before it took the decision to ascend...
Hi Dylan, any idea why the map in "map box" doesn't show my area map that I have downloaded? The map box in the bottom left corner of the app screen is just a black box. I have the spark fly more combo.
How do you change the optic on your screen? (Grid, grid with diagonals, and the ‘gun sight’ looking one) Also, if you’re flying with your phone, and you disconnect mid flight, will it come home or hover?
barry huizing : If you were to lose or crash the Spark, you’re out 350.00. You lose the Air, it’s 700.00- 800.00. If you’re an experienced, confident pilot and are willing to fork out the larger sum, also consider the DJI REFRESH for that investment. I never bothered when I bought my Spark ⚡️ given it was a modest amount that I invested. But personally it does everything I need in a flying camera platform. So it’s plenty for me. Now just ND filters, a flotation system, a gimbal guard/ sunshade attachment and learning all there is to know is whats left. 😎🛩
barry huizing : Very cool, you’re ready for a more compact drone then. Lol Based on the reviews, the M AIR really sounds like an awesome aircraft. Tough decision;) But one thing is for sure. You won’t be flying the P 3 much after getting the Mavic Air. Cheers
Thank you for your in-depth tutorial on the return to home feature! I have a question if you could maybe help me out I noticed if I take this drone straight up let's say about a hundred and fifty feet or so and then I decide that I want to descend back down and I hold the left stick down for a period of time let's say maybe, 4 or 5 seconds... the Drone will continue to drop rather quickly, and if I let go of the left stick and allow it to recenter itself, the Drone continues to descend quickly! The only way to stop the rapid descent, is to push up on the left stick and it begins to gain altitude and eventually it will stabilize? I feel like something might be wrong with it maybe you can shed some light on it. Thank you so much in advance Joey
Great video Dylan!! I have a question; When using the RTH on the RC would you press & hold it down until it starts beeping? Also, while you are flying if you accidentally tap the RTH on the RC doest that cancel the RTH foe that flight? Thanks again as always your video tutorials are awesome!
Had a problem with the return to home feature. I don’t have a launchpad yet but I set the home point, flew out a bit, but when I hit the return to home button the drone ended up landing on the opposite side of the building. Landed in a bush and it took awhile to find. Wouldn’t have found it if the battery hadn’t held out and the light still on. No where near the set home point. What did I do wrong? I live in a condo complex. Picture a dart board. A ring of buildings on the outside a ring on the inside and a bare spot where the bullseye would be. I think maybe all the buildings messed it up.
razit zulfiquer This vid is nice! Check my DJI Spark cinematics! The quality is underrated! Subscribe for more cinematics! ua-cam.com/video/rUZizQvd-lk/v-deo.html
I noticed that your screen says: Ready to Go (GPS). The spark cannot return to the Home Point when GPS is weak (less than 10 satellites) or unavailable. Also, in ATTI mode, there is no GPS lock. If the spark switches to ATTI, or GPS is weak, then use the sticks on the controller or the controls on your phone or tablet to return to home.
Spark Question DHI refuses to answer. Can you answer this? Assume new Spark, new battery fully charged and fully charged remote. Upon takeoff the ipad indicates 100% battery. Within 30 seconds after liftoff to 6 foot hover the remaining time will show. "What does YOUR Spark show as remaining time?" I cannot understand why DJI will not answer this simple question. I hope you can help with answer.
Can you explain the two settings for home point (one with stand alone pin, and one with pin by someone standing)? It's the first setting on the screen where you set RTH altitude
No, when you press the button it sets the home point to where the drone currently is, so if its next to you it sets it there, or 1 kilometer away, it sets it there
Good, clarafication, Joni, for setting home point for the drone, Eric, the icon of the person standing, means the drone will return to wherever the remote was when you tapped that person standing icon. If you walk away, the drone WILL NOT adjust to where you and the controller moved to, it will still land at the spot the controller used to be. So, if you're, say, on a boat, the drone will not follow you if you move the boat to another location - the drone will go back to where the remote originally was - and probably drown, unless you have pontoons on it :).
Question, newbie here, when I used sport mode and hit return to home it just lands from the spot it is at. Fortunately I tried it in a large field and no consequences. Tried it twice same results Your thoughts
Thx for that very easy tutorial.
That’s given me a lot of confidence 👍🏻

bltefft set it 30m. It comes back at 100 ft altitude.

Thanks for that - I needed a reminder on how to do it. Simple and straight to the point 👍

Good demonstration in very easy to understand! Thanks looking forward to seeing more videos about the spark from you.
Thaks bro great video you helping me out greetings from Macedonia Region GREECE !!!...
I'm a Spark newbee and your videos are a wealth of info, thanks !

I just purchased a DJI Spark great video your instructions are on point 👍🏽

thanks for making the video straight to the point! very well done bro
Great video! I’m watching all I can before my drone arrives in the mail.
BOOMER SOONER!!!! awesome video man! I just got my spark today and looking forward to see what it does tomorrow!!!
Clear, informative, I like that you showed the Spark doing it while explaining it. Thank you! Liked and Subscribed!
Thank you Dylan! Very clear explanation.
Great video! Thanks.
I shall test that, very interesting, hope it does not matter if the landing plate is blue or orange?
Great presentation! Thx for sharing.
Awesome video, Thankyou
Great video. Will definitely check out your other videos once I get the Spark
Nice and simply explained video!!! Thanks ;)

How do you disable it because i only want to fly it short range
ExoticLuck just don’t press it

Nice video, great advice!!

Enjoy your videos! Good, plain English, style! Thanks!
Great video Dylan! Thanks for sharing :)
BIG THUMB'S UP FOR YOU DYLAN........!
Nice video! I have a question, how do i doo to apear that red cross on my screen?
Great video bro... Just got mine last week...
good job pancho , thanks
wow cool i will do this my spark drone until now
Thank you so much for sharing this video.
Good video, thanks

Cheers mate thank you !! this really helped a lot!
RTH At current altitude, if you are flying indoors, or in a big structure, then I would turn it on or else it would hit the ceiling
thank you , legend!

Liam Glynn, if your phone dies or disconnects in another way, the spark will hover for around 30 seconds then return to home.
Thanks thinking about which to get Spark or Air........and yes money is a consideration.

Good information!!!
On the physical controller do you just press the rth or hold the button
Do you work at a pawn shop in Vegas? Thanks for video.
Cool video Dylan🐬👍🏼🍾

Hi can you please tell what editing program you are using . just got a spark great support from your channel

Its Crisp AF!
Sorry saw it in the description. Thanks.

Do you just press the return to home button once. Mine isn't returning to where it took off. I have set the return to home point. Thanks.
Nice!
If using the RTH button on the controller do you have to hold it down for it to initiate RTH?? If so, how long do you have to hold it down??
Anyone???
Yeah I wanna know it too
It looks like you tap it then get the option appear 'slide to return to home '
did you calibrate the compass before flying?
Welldone...just one question...under settings it says 50 m height at rth...Did you change it to feet before flying?
Eis Vogel i think it’s only in meters.
Thanks very much,
is there a return to home option but not land? like leave it to hover? or will the clicking of the RTH button in the remote do it?
Thanks Chum.
Amazing
Hey, thanks a lot
Nice Video
Thank you
Hey Dylan ... whenever I press RTH on the remote it does nothing ... any explanation?
do u have set the home point in the beginning? I was under the impression that it happened automatically when the spark receives a proper GPS signal.
i think it happens automatically
@@SiddharthHaobijam yep sure does but i always make sure, very important step :)
nice
I think im setting the home point, but it doesnt return. Any idea what im doing wrong?
My spark says something about being within 30 meters when I try to return to home. It them comes straight down. Is there some minimum distance?
You must be further away for the spark to return to home . If you're Inna range of 30 metres the spark will just land at its current position
Boomer!!!!! Keep up the great work
Thank you boss
Spark Question DHI refuses to answer. Can you answer this? Assume new
Spark, new battery fully charged and fully charged remote. Upon takeoff

the remaining time will show. "What does YOUR Spark show as remaining time?"
I cannot understand why DJI will not answer this simple question. I hope you

Who's DHI dude?
Like, inscrito!
Can you explain the two settings for home point (one with stand alone pin, and one with pin by someone standing)? It's the first setting on the screen where you set RTH altitude
The left one sets RTH point to where the drone is, the right one sets it where the controller is

Jim Smith same here
hey guy how far does the spark have to be from the home point to use RTH. i tried it and my spark almost landed in a tree
Carpe_diam_dee if ur to close to home point it’ll go into auto landing mode so watch out when activating it to to close to home point
I dont see the Map on my screen. How do i enable ?
Could it return to remote?
Yes but make sure you set the rth to controller
who gives this a thumbs down?
Ok cool I think so
😮😮😮👍👍👍👍
If I wrote here what I'd like to do to whomever invented that *obnoxious* beeping sound on RTH, I'd be banned from the internet.
