Nice! I have this same issue. Took it to dealership and quoted me $1400 and stated the latch would not open without it. I am going to go home now and try to unlatch it, I knew it was from my sunroof, after researching it. You can also get the liftgate module on Amazon. THANK YOU for your video. :) :)
Yeah GM did that Crap like they always do I recently seen a 2016 for $2800 the female owner wanted to get rid it that bad because some shade tree mechanic knuckle head in Alabama told her it was making a clacking noise from the engine because it was a head gasket but no it wasn’t it’s actually the timing chains and guides stretched my uncle went to Alabama bought it and fixed it with a timing chain kit from eBay and now enjoys a nice truck basically for little to nothing lol 😂
My wifes car had the same problem , if you parks this car with the sunroof outside debris will clog the drains and the trunk pan will fill with water submerging the pump and module . I drilled three 3/16 holes in the pan near the pump so if it ever happened again it at least will drain out .
Another suggestion change all of your bulbs to LED pure white bulbs by sylvainia from Walmart inside the cargo driver and passenger doors valet markers area also
Great video - I have my module and ready to replace it, but the six pin connector has a broken wire and is corroded. Do you know if I can order that connector or should I try to clean it?
@@fullcend-tkm73 Super cheap? Costs $348.00+ tax on Amazon for made in China parts. $248.00 for the pump and approx. a $100.00 for the module not including programing. Several hundred $'s more for OEM parts prolly made in China. I'm angry b/c GM knows about this problem yet won't fix it for us!
There has to be a certain amount of people that complain about it in order for them to do something and it people drag their feet and they just blindly go to the dealer without complaining to corporate about it nothing ever gets done or I think maybe the highway safety board

Hey I have a question if you try to take off the rear panels the airbag blow up if you try to take them off or do you need like a special tool try not to make the airbags blow up from the back
The airbags can only go off in the vehicle if the airbag sensors are triggered and that's only by an electrical event or a impact event you're not creating an impact event by pulling off a plastic panel
Imagine making something as simple as a trunk electronic for the sake of convenience, then fucking it up so badly that you'd be better off with a simple handle. #moderntechnology
I can see that there is definitely water pooling in the cargo area, unfortunately I cannot figure out how to remove the Styrofoam insert. Is there a trick to getting it out?
I think there was a couple clips and then it came right out and then I also think you had to remove the trim around the outside of the trunk so there's going to be some Torx screws if I remember correctly and you pull up the trim around the side and then the foam comes out
This video helps a lot but when I try to open the lift gate from the outside it just flashes and makes a weird noise it won’t even unlatch. I replaced the electronic latch also and it still won’t open. What do you think is still wrong with it?
@@fullcend-tkm73 yes the old module but I had it replaced at a dealership about three years ago for 1800 dollars. Shortly after getting the new module installed the latch stopped working and now it doesn’t open at all again.
That's going to be a diagnostic issue now I mean my video was just about to water intrusion stuff I don't really work on Cadillacs to be honest with you but you're going to have to have somebody hook up to a computer and actually push the button and see if it's receiving a signal properly cuz I could be something with the programming or the wiring
