Cut Vingego' some slack here mate, Didn't have that solid build-up like Roglic or Remco. The man was too busy celebrating his victory in Le Tour as that was his A-race this year. Actually makes him a more dangerous fella to attack early on in Friday's stage too. Comes to show you that no matter the name, preparation is key. cheers xx
Remco targeted the world's time trial and prep for that is not ideal for what is needed for the Vuelta. I would say that Roglic is the best prepared, followed by Remco and then least prepared is Vingegaard. It's actually amazing the level Vingegaard can still reach given that he barely trained after TdF and is well past his peak. This is gearing up to be a very interesting Vuelta. Hopefully nobody crashes out and we can have all the GC favorites duke it out in the mountains.
Why? Vingegaard riding with 80 km/h on the flat for 2 - 3 km in TDF ITT 😂, Gana and Evenepoel are lucky he didn't mopped the floor with them! What a farce 😂
The shifting back on the TT bike has always been a sign, even contador would do bad tt's when he was constantly shifting back, and good tt's when he was not, vingegard was constatly shifting back today, and on the dauphinee tt, barely did it on the tour tt, when i seem them shifting back, i'm already expecting a bad performance
@@endokrin7897 when the legs are not pushing enough power, the cyclist ends up pulling too much with Thu upper body against the handlebars, pulling the body forward, the constantly having to push the butt back on the seat
Vingegaard will at best reach the podium in this years Vuelta, and that will be a huge accomplishment. It’s physiologically not possible to recover so fast for another GT shortly after winning TDF. Especially given the fact that he has been relaxing and slowly training again, this time not in heights but home in flat Denmark. Hence, hematocrite values at start of TDF vs Vuelta would be quite different, and in addition, the decline in hematocrite during a 3 weeks GT (TDF) will leave him at a lower level than at the start.
Wouldn't underestimate him. Until now, there weren't that hard stages for him. For sure I think, he hoped for a better time today but the mountains are his real "thing". We will see.
@@robertzimmermann9710 Yes, you’re right. But I’m afraid, as a Dane, that he doesn’t have it to go deep there either, but let’s see. In danish interviews he also seems very relaxed and happy that either Kuss or Roglic will take the first spot. I think the JV masterplan was to bring him to put pressure on Evenepol for Roglic to exploit, the extra cream on the cake is that Kuss is a surprising and very likeable challenger, which makes it even better for their plans to get Roglic the win..
he won't reach the podium imo, he's the decoy to help Roglic, never was anything more in this race, Kuss has better chances to finish on the podium than Jonas

well@@luckyspurs fresher... not sure what you mean... Pogacar had to stop months due to injury. So it's not as if he was not fresh. Probably the opposite, he needed more training to reach his peak during the Tour.
Kuss needs to stay ahead of Remco (and the rest.) As long as he can do that, why would Jonas waste his powder? But Jumbo can't let Remco run away. If Kuss cracks, I doubt he expects the two presumed captains will risk the race to stay with him. When you show up with the squad Jumbo brought this year, you obviously expect to win.
Hey Lanterne - in regards to Ayusos tt style / position - it reminds one a bit of Contadors style, if you watched him ride, he would also slide back on the regular.
Looks like Ayuso is sliding forward as his cockpit is too far forward/saddle is positioned too far back (under UCI regulation there is a limit how far forward it can be) and he pushes himself back from the tip, to get some support. Many riders could have a much better position if UCI regulations allowed - and if they weren't limited to the components coming from their sponsors... :D I am just speculating though.
Remco is TT champion so he's gonna wear that jersey, hence white falling to 2nd best young rider (Martinez) -- but looking at youth GC Martinez was ahead of Remco at the end of stage 9
Hahahaha! He'll lose a mountain stage because he thought there'd be a bunch sprint after a fast run-in to the finish. Jk, jk! Just a little harmless fun because Remco didn't seem to know he was racing for the stage win the other day.
I wonder what happens if Jumbo gets put in the situation where Roglic has a wobble (like stage 16 or 17 of the Giro this year), what do they do with Kuss? They probably would send Jonas to help first, but it doesn't look like Jonas is improving during this GT (which makes sense considering he had very little preparation)
I think Jonas makes a fantastic domestique. I know he has 2 Tour wins, obviously, so he's 'overqualified' as a domestique. But if he is honest with himself, and feels he doesn't have a real chance to win, he would seemingly be content with one of his teammates winning La Vuelta, and I get the feeling he'd ride to fully support his teammate(s). He would be one of the very best assistants you could ever have in the mountains. Reminds me of Adam Yates of UAE in the 2023 Tour, being amazing help for Tadej. I am warming up to Jonas. If he ends up riding to support Roglic or Kuss, he'll have huge respect because of it!
One wonders: Jonas pulls off a totally amazing, dominant ITT in the TDF, and then gets totally dropped in the Vuelta ITT. Analysis? Relatively flat course for the Vuelta's ITT (hillier favors Jonas)? Other possibilities about which we keep our lips zipped? One thing this shows for sure, as far as I'm concerned anyway, is that one ITT in the TDF or other grand tour doesn't prove much.
TT are so good to show the actual form In a CC! Ganna got hes payback for WM INEOS at least a stage VC Gongraths. Think Remco has piked to WM. And Now it is going downwards. Even though I think Roglic is still the leader for Jumbo, I would love to see Sepp win. America (My country) hasn't one a grand tour since the late 80's or early 90's with Lemond. (No a certain Texan taking no-no substances doesn't count.) Edit: Forgot about Chris Horner :)
in my opinion it's kinda unfair that the early people had 1 min between them so they could catch up other riders easily while the others had 2 min.. i mean catching up 4 riders and staying behind them and in their slip stream for even only 2 sec is a huge advantage..
Remco would have smoked Ganna, but he has spent alot more energy then him since the start so :) Put them both at the start fresh and remco smokes ganna 90% of the time all day any day
you can but can't stay behind for long, not sure how long prob 1-3 sec@@endokrin7897even 1 second is enough to gain 1-4 sec advantage believe it or not ;)
i always suspected kuss was a better TT rider than he's shown previously, cuz he always had to save his energy for the mountains, so riding a hard TT never made sense. but defending the leader's jersey meant he had to give his best and he's shown he's a better GC rider than most people thought.
If I am Jumbo Visma DS, II will have Vingegarrd and Primoz sit on Evenepoel wheel like glue! Let Kuss go on a break or attack in the mountain if possible! Evenepoel and his team will have to do all the work otherwise! hey, a Kuss win is a win for the team!
Red jersey can't get into a break, it would be a waste of energy and position. Strategy should be the opposite. Sepp should not work, just follow Remco. Remco has to attack since he is behind. When he has a moment of weakness or the incline is right, Roglic should attack. Vingegaard isn't a factor unless his form recovers.
I am not surprised by Laterne saying all those positives about Remco Mr. Excuses Evenepoel. He is one of his cronies who always making excuses for him. From since Jonás came into this race on the very first climb anyone could see he is not in his TDF form.
Roglic is the Olympic TT champion from just two year ago. It is a mark of what Remco has achieved in such a short space of time that we expect Roglic to ship time to TT specialist Evenapoel.
Now all Pogacar fans accusing Jonas for doping can finally rest their crooked minds. "He quits doping" they might say. But guess what? Pogacar quit doping and that's why he hasn't won TDF. (JK, I don't think anybody's doping, simply being sarcastic.)
Your contention that Remco lost time compared to others by starting later and not having as many riders to draft from, yeah right. Allbthe big GC guys started later and Ganna passes everyone so quickly that the little draft he gets has a neglidble effect. He doesn't go that fast by waiting behind slower riders.
Time that others like Ganna and Kuss were recognised as capable instead of it all being about the other two or three who are not that great when left without the support of the kingmakers.

I'm sure they still pop whatever they think they can get away with, but I'm not sure anything currently not tested for, is all that significant. Jonas, being the world's most talented big-mountain climber but from a country where the longest climb is a freeway overpass; almost certainly has benefitted more from the shift to trainers and general obsession with watts and power curves, than any "supplement" he may be taking. He has eaten a lot of fish over the years, I suppose. Which is healthy. But then again, Lance was from Texas, where frisbee sized steaks are what's on the menu.....
Lanterne Rouge, your videos are epic. The careful analysis, the little jokes. Have been very entertained for years. Keep it up.
It's looking more and more like Roglic is the #1 guy for Jumbo Visma in this Vuelta, but it's still a long way to go and anything can happen.
next few montain stages are more like jonas than primoz...but that is only good, if they fight between them and let Almeida go for the GT GC win
Too early to say, we haven't even seen any proper mountain stages yet
@@bernardo9202 Jonas is trash as always outside TDF
@@bene4577 trash😂. Won almost every stage race this year. Only paris nice he went third
@@bene4577 Hahaha this kid is so mad it is actually hilarious. You would think Vingegaard shagged his mom 😂😂
But why do they do it, and why is it a sign of a bad performance?
Thanks
Jonas doping program is schleduled for TDF so of course you are probably right...Pogi is probably the best cyclist of all time and Vinge smoked him like a barbecaue on Tdf...soo unrealistic...to me Jonas is new Lance...

We're finding out so much more about Sepp Kuss' abilities.
And the fun thing is, it feels like Sepp Kuss is finding out more about his abilities.
Those Quickstep and UAE front wheels are deeeep :o
I just want to see João Almeida in ITT on that specialized setup again
Theres several more uphill finishes to go. There’s a small possibility of this: jumbo finishes 1,2,3 on those stages, and in a bunch grp.
Vingegaard season is so long already and he is still doing such a great job
it really isnt though, he basically only rides the tour mate

Is it?
Or is it just the length Pogacar's seasons usually are by the time he gets to the Tour de France, against a fresher Vingegaard?
well@@luckyspurs fresher... not sure what you mean... Pogacar had to stop months due to injury. So it's not as if he was not fresh. Probably the opposite, he needed more training to reach his peak during the Tour.
Would love to see vingegaard become SD for jumbo and help GC kuss keep red
Kuss needs to stay ahead of Remco (and the rest.) As long as he can do that, why would Jonas waste his powder? But Jumbo can't let Remco run away. If Kuss cracks, I doubt he expects the two presumed captains will risk the race to stay with him. When you show up with the squad Jumbo brought this year, you obviously expect to win.
Feel they'll both be working for Roglic.
No matter what Roglic says.
7:35 🤣🤣🤣 He is so real!!! Love him!!! Respect to P. Ganno! 👏
JV has 21 stages in his legs from the TDF while RE was watching on the couch.
So did Roglic and Ayuso. Your point is???
And where was Sepp? Everywhere.
Too many stupid excuses for Vingegaard.
Good job Ganna! Salvaging something for Ineos and beating the world champ, Evenepoel!
Not many commentators spot those micro adjustments in the riders position.
:D I am just speculating though.
van der poel does it as well all the time when in TT
56 km/h average speed by Ganna. I personally find this insane, this is nearly twice as much as my personal average speed
Hell, on a flat road without a tailwind I have a hard time even reaching 56 km/h. And he does that on average. Fucking insane.
7:03 Why does Vuelta show Martinez with the white Jersey? I think Remco is leading that classification
Remco is TT champion so he's gonna wear that jersey, hence white falling to 2nd best young rider (Martinez) -- but looking at youth GC Martinez was ahead of Remco at the end of stage 9
Remco would have won but he didn’t know it was a Time Trial.
Hahahaha!
He'll lose a mountain stage because he thought there'd be a bunch sprint after a fast run-in to the finish.
Jk, jk! Just a little harmless fun because Remco didn't seem to know he was racing for the stage win the other day.
True, Big Mouth is always full of excuses.
Every time Pipo gives an interview in English, I strain hard to make sense of his words :)
I think he's in the same boat not understanding the interviewer. I love when they interview in their native language and the commentators translate.
Did you forget the stage 20 of Giro d'Italia?
Wow, I don't think I've ever heard Kuss talk. Such an American :D
Why that wound next to his left eye doesn't want to heal? Is that from what he sustained at TdF or a new injury?
I think Kuss was wearing the aero insert in his jersey like Jonas was in the tdf TT
GC KUSS LETS GOOOO (wtf is a kilometer tho?)
Love the analysis and takes, but please don't spoil in the title.
The mountains are coming....
Or maybe riding the Vuelta a month after the Tour de France is not an easy task. How many riders won the TDF-Vuelta double the last 30 years?
Best cycling recaps in cycling. Lantern Rouge rocks.
Gana looke beautiful in the silhouette pure man x

The time trial at TdF looks like it is screaming a message about 2 riders. Come on. Call it what is!!
Couldn’t help but notice that kuss’ cadance seemed very low (is he getting tired?🤔)
Great performance by Pippo to reverse the WC and Giro ITT results and get one back on Remco.
What was Vlasov wearing around his neck?
Even though I think Roglic is still the leader for Jumbo, I would love to see Sepp win. America (My country) hasn't one a grand tour since the late 80's or early 90's with Lemond. (No a certain Texan taking no-no substances doesn't count.)
Edit: Forgot about Chris Horner :)
Chris Horner
Is Chris Horner a Texan?
No one has ever stuck to their saddle like Tony Martin
who would have thought that this Vuelta is even more exciting than this year's TdF...
I"ll go with : anyone who had a look at the startlist and has followed cycling for at least 2 years
Nobody, because it's not even close to be as exciting. It's still better than the Giro though.
I know it's because Colnago's TT bikes are ludicrous enough on their own, but it looks like Soler is riding a 50cm frame with 30cm of spacers
Only Soler’s setup that looks really odd on UAE
Flat TT not Jonas TT terrain
GC Kuss!! Making America proud!
Jonas is unpredictable...unlike those pretenders ......remember that....

The mountains will tell the tale
Stage 13
in my opinion it's kinda unfair that the early people had 1 min between them so they could catch up other riders easily while the others had 2 min.. i mean catching up 4 riders and staying behind them and in their slip stream for even only 2 sec is a huge advantage..
Remco would have smoked Ganna, but he has spent alot more energy then him since the start so :)
Put them both at the start fresh and remco smokes ganna 90% of the time all day any day
Slipstream is negligible in a Time Trial; you're not allowed to draft. Right?🤔
you can but can't stay behind for long, not sure how long prob 1-3 sec@@endokrin7897even 1 second is enough to gain 1-4 sec advantage believe it or not ;)
i always suspected kuss was a better TT rider than he's shown previously, cuz he always had to save his energy for the mountains, so riding a hard TT never made sense. but defending the leader's jersey meant he had to give his best and he's shown he's a better GC rider than most people thought.
Remcoglasses - It's Grande Pippo!
I'm a believer! Team Kuss!
From since Jonás came into this race on the very first climb anyone could see he is not in his TDF form.
why are these soo short? too much effort to make it 20mins?
Roglic is the Olympic TT champion from just two year ago. It is a mark of what Remco has achieved in such a short space of time that we expect Roglic to ship time to TT specialist Evenapoel.
Now all Pogacar fans accusing Jonas for doping can finally rest their crooked minds. "He quits doping" they might say. But guess what? Pogacar quit doping and that's why he hasn't won TDF. (JK, I don't think anybody's doping, simply being sarcastic.)
After gulping down that bottle of champagne🍾 Kuss was still well loaded with carbs for today!
Not important stage. Important stages are coming. Jonas's playground.
Jonas showing he’s only human 🤷♂️ but him finding his TDF legs once or twice in mountains 🏔️ could be fun 😊
Ayusco moving so frequently is either some sort of tick he has or his position really needs to change. Hard to say without knowing personally
Thank goodness it wasn't raining with all those white marks on the road.
Kuss put in the TT of his life. The rest of this race is built for him. But only if he gets support from Jumbo
So, apparently Vingegaard is not an android after all.
Your contention that Remco lost time compared to others by starting later and not having as many riders to draft from, yeah right. Allbthe big GC guys started later and Ganna passes everyone so quickly that the little draft he gets has a neglidble effect. He doesn't go that fast by waiting behind slower riders.
Why do you feel the need to spoil the result in the title of the video
You picked on Ayuso shifting back every 10 seconds, but you didn't pick on Kuss doing it every 5? Gotta check your eyes bud.
Pippo the legend
Time that others like Ganna and Kuss were recognised as capable instead of it all being about the other two or three who are not that great when left without the support of the kingmakers.

You don’t have to be murican to love Sepp Kuss, he pedals through the turns because of his North American Crit racing experience?
