What im especially proud of them is that they seem to actually be using good development practices this time around. Like, we know that they have at least made it so gods are developed in modules that can easily be swapped out too. We could potentially have an MOTD where each god has a random selection of abilities, during prealpha shoecase this was shown with ymir having anhur ult. god and item stats will be defined in simple json files, so it will no longer be such a hassle to change stats over like a dozen separate places. Stuff like that. So we can expect a lot better and higher quality updates in the years to come
I’m so happy you (and other major creators) are positive about all of this. I have no issues with it at all and I’m glad the community leaders are supportive of it
afcors they are. another thing to make content out of it. if they would really care so much they would critize the company for not fixing smite 1 in last 7 years. if they will continue to ignore 70% of their playerbase (EU , Arena, International, console players...) smite 2 woudnt be much better. too amny rooted issues. too divided community. no ranked functionalities or tournaments
@@GamingDualities If you’ve paid any attention at all, all the things you’ve mentioned are things they’ve mentioned they will focus on with Smite 2. And I’ve seen other comments from you saying they “don’t make any new content” and they’ve said the new engine will allow them to do that and they’ve already been messing around with new modes. You’re mad about issues, but you’re also mad about them trying to address them. They can’t win with people like you, your mind is already made up
Every time I tried to get someone into Smite I was apalled by how terrible it was for a new player. They really need to nail the new player experience and the tutorials in Smite 2. Keeping new players is going to be extremely important.
its not much better for older players either. non existent pro scene, no tournaments, ignoring international/EU players, console players. Arena players cant even have ranked leaderboard and reward or updated Arena map current one is 6 year old. thats just the surface how dividded and missmanaged smite community actually is. no old fun gamemodes assets in match of the day rotation...
I've found that the best newcomer experience is to invite them into the game, have them do the tutorials, and then duo with them as a support. Maybe they switch away from ADC to Jungler, you become a solo laner, or they switch to solo, you become a jungler. I was able to help two of my friends become really comfortable and good in the game just by taking that mentor mentality. It adds more fun to the game as an older player, too.
actually good suppport and new player can work yea but high lvl support is counter pressuring wich msot adcs say u just chasing kilčls xd@@shoebill4887
I remember when Smite came to ps4, I was 19 at the time, had a late finish with Highschool, mostly stuff involving algebra not clicking with me. But as a graduation gift, I was given a PS4, and it was one of the first tests I had was for the PS4 version of Smite, and Amaterasu was the new goddess at the time. I wouldn't say "Time flies", despite the joy I have in my life, it truly doesn't for me. But I remember playing at 30, and then 60FPS. And just putting a few dollars in it here and there. The game was fun. I remember the "Dirty Bubble" for Artemis and when they removed the items for it. I remember when Morrigan literally crashed the game lmao. She became my favorite mage to play and Artio my favorite guard. But Cthulu was a close second years later. Nu Wa was also really fun, Ullr. And I remember when everyone was afraid of Loki. Even though he was... quite easy to counter. Yet I seem to play him really when when I use him. Rather, when I still played. I think the last time I was active, active, was Season 7? I have not really bothered with the game when I got the PS5 as a gift from a special somebody. Because the glitches were still apparent. The software showed it age in the worst way. Textures were not loading. And they kept adding characters, but the quality of the engine kept feeling less optimized. And some Kits... felt like "Here is another Blaster type character we already have a lot of." So kits felt a bit less creative... and I get it? There is 100+ characters. There is bound to be SOME overlap. Some older kits felt left behind due to. "Anything you can do, I can do better!" with some kits. It just happens. The biggest factor that prevented me from returning to Smite, was the fact I cannot transfer my content to the PC version. Because Sony is a terrible company, with a lot of mediocre practices. The computer I have, that is about the same price, outperforms it and has so many better options. Way more RAM. And so on. "No, your content is in the hand of Daddy Sony." "Yeah, no. They can fucking keep it if this is how they are going to treat their customers." I'm sure this new version will do a lot of things that might frustrate us initially. But still will turn out to be a better game. Like, Anhur looks great. He looks so fluffy, and the way he animates so well. Everything just looks great here.
I've heard mentions that cross progression will be on all platforms for smite 2 as well which is pretty cool, won't know for sure until we get closer to the alpha / beta.
@@Hatmaster I just am hoping we get Morrigan pretty early. She is just a fun mage that scares everyone lmao. But if that is true. "I can hopefully fully migrate over to PC for good." The only thing I used the PS5 was Genshin, because I didn't have a good PC at the time for that. Every BP purchases has to be done/redeemed on PC. And that is just pain. Warframe got it's cross save recently too. So hopefully Smite get it from PS and stuff, and maybe I'd reinstall Smite on PC. I like Smite, but I do hope this next one is the shake up the game needs.
Thank you for this to be honest, I was so excited when the announcement dropped and was heartbroken when the majority of posts online was complaining about the skins. I understand *why* people had an issue but it just isn't feasible to transfer all the skins over, make entirely new content AND port over a god every week then two weeks. I hate how everyone keeps comparing it to OW when OW had the main draw being the campaign mode (which then resulted in OW1 getting no content for 3 years and the story mode being stripped dramatically 1 and 1/2 years into production). The main focus here is the new engine. The game looks beautiful and aside from some very, very minor gripes (the god portraits look a bit weird) I'm so hyped for this new stage of Smite.
@@GamingDualitiesthat's what they are doing genius. Smite 2 IS THE FIX YOU'RE ASKING FOR. I swear to god you people just want to complain for the sake of it because your very souls have been blackened by toxicity and negativity.
We have been asking for changes for the last 7 years. we loved the game more than anybody.and hirez/titanforge keep on dividing us and left us in the dust. and now we are supposed to congratulate them for smite 2? last 3 years we had 0 new content or events. just buy this buy that. and they remove clash, siege, tournaments, ranked arena scene... 7 years ago the game was in better state and community not so divided .pls@@fleshypotato4307
I’m so so so excited! I can’t wait. The rate of 1 god per week is CRAZYYYY fast. And the skin system (imo) is pretty generous. So hyped for the future of smite Fingers crossed they slowly roll out the tier 5s a couple months into the game.
I was a lil iffy about my precious skins at first but I understand it all and am still excited for it. All new battles and stuff to be had, so much fun is coming ❤
Def will miss them skins... But a new smite in ue5 has infinite potential ! Also i believe they are making the upgrade in the best possible way ! Can't wait for all the new cheese builds and qol changes... The ymir idea looks epic and revisiting old gods seems like a good idea... But it's scary lol. Maybe even playing more than 3 games of ranked per season idk.
cosmetics that are in smite 1 that do make it to smite 2 you can buy with 100% legacy gems. Otherwise it will be completely new cosmetics you can buy with 50% off
We are running on an xbox 360 era (which is now considered a retro console its so old) engine and fkin Flash UI 😭 Also, idk why people think they are owed skins on the next game too. When you purchase a skin, you know thats just a silly little cosmetic thing for your favourite characters. Getting 50% off Smite 2 skins is a courtesy & 100% off would destroy HiRez profits.
I think most veterans like my self and Hatmaster feel this way. This needed to happen. I have almost all the skins in the game because Iv been playing for over 10 years. That doesn't matter, I'll buy more for smite 2 as long as I enjoy it for another 10 years. And that is the only complaint from idk who, if skins are the only thing you care about than you're opinion straight up doesn't matter because you just don't get it. And WOW I forgot how bad some of the old gods looked.
I am not a compettuve player and just now got back into smite but I am glad they keeping the appeal of having all these different myths and legends and I can't to see the new comers and new trailers
What I am mostly worried about is that because of Smite 1 existence alongside Smite 2's existence, playerbase will be split between those two games and will result in one of the games dying or not having enough players in one of the games resulting in shutdown. I hope it's not gonna happen, because I'm super stoked to come back to Smite after not playing it for quite a bit.
I think itll be fine. Destiny 2 has been out for what 6 years and D1 is still going on. You see people in the tower, there's still D1 content creators and lfgs for raids.
I'm gonna be real, Smite in 2011 looked so much cooler than modern Smite. It has a unique art style similar to Eastern Plaguelands in WoW, not it just looks like fuckin' Fortnite . I think anyone who REALLY thinks Hi Rez don't plan on eventually shutting down Smite 1 are naive. The second it's financially safe to do so, they'll shut off the servers and soft-force everyone over to Smite , even if it's several years from now. My prediction is that shortly after the FULL launch of Smite , they'll announce the FINAL god for Smite 1 and announce they will no longer be putting any major updates in it. The game will stick around for about 3/4 more years, but they'll have nearly every employee on Smite 2, which will be a much more popular game once everyone realises how much better it is without all the horrible gods we've hated over the years. Faster God releases, no more jank, better item system, etc. Smite 2 will be a massive success.
Love your thoughts and agree 200% with everything you've said. Luckily it seems like at this point, all the clowns crying about skins, comparing it to OW2 and even CS2, are the small but loud minority. And every day see more and more people coming around to support this amazing sequel that this amazing dev team has worked so hard for the entire player base to make SMITE2 as amazing as it can possibly be ❤ Rebuilding this game from the ground up is what so many of us have been asking for for years. It's a huge and daunting task for Hi-Rez and they're FINALLY doing it! AND making sure the community is always along side them in development, making sure it's as amazing as possible. Can't think of any other game devs that care as much about their community and player base as Smite's, and that's the reason I've been playing this game for almost a decade straight 😂
If Riot announced they were making LoL 2 on a new engine and none of the old skins would carry over and not every champ would be available on launch there would be shit hitting the fan which then bursts into flames. Riot wouldn't ever think of releasing something that wouldn't carry over everything they previously had. That being said, Riot have probably 100x the resources needed over Titanforge to make that a reality. Initially i was really negative about the skins not being moved over but after looking at it more and seeing their divine legacy skins its sort of gone away. Based off the most recent info i saw stating they would release the most popular skin for each God into Smite 2 and unlockable with legacy gems then I think thats pretty fair. We have a lot of recolour and just pretty subpar skins that make up the 1600 skins in the game that dont need to be carried over. It does suck that no T5 is carried over, feel that's a big loss as it would look even better on UE5. The only current weird thing to me is how Smite 2 looks. Maybe its because of how used I am to how Smite currently looks from the past 10 years but Smite 2 looks like one of those Mobile game ads i see randomly but I probably just need to try it myself to get more accustomed to it. I just hope that Smite 2 is able to bring in lots of new players to keep it running as Smite 1 wont last for much longer after its released. I also dont want it to fumble like OW2 and CS2 did
@@Hatmaster im just glad the face models wont look like theyre stuck in 2012 lol We've had all those cool skins just for them to look nowhere near the card art cause of the old engine
I hope they do the opening screens with the new god on them for each patch, I remember when I would get into the game and see Janus there moving around in a Roman backdrop, and I would be so hype to see the new god in action
I haven’t played smite so nice I shipped out of to boot camp 4 years ago. Kinda weird seeing all the new gods and now a new whole game? Never do I thought
I said years ago what smite needed most. Was to rerelease in a new engine. I hope they do it right. I kinda wish they'd let me use legacy gems for 100% of the purchase. But balance it by being 1.25x cost. But whatever. Ill get more. If its done right. It can be the rebirth of the game, and the player bases
If they made it 100% legacy gems then they’d probably make little money for the first few years. I’m grateful that they’re even giving us legacy gems because lots of companies wouldn’t of gave us anything
We got to be honest guys they’re not gonna keep Smite 1 forever it’s just a temporary measure for Smite 2 to get on its feet, but we should be glad Smite 2 is coming finally the support role won’t be so stale with these new items. tank jungle might become a thing. which is present in other mobas. things are looking up.
bro it is not hirez anymore. it is titanforge. and they didnt add new content to the game in last 5 years, instead they removed most content from the game. clash siege ranked arena etc. and now they want us to pay for smite 2 so they can fix issues they didnt in las 5 years? yeah sure buddy
Really excited with smite 2, When I saw the new one I kinda feel like I was at the time that I play the beta, I play this game since 2012 and this is the most exciting thing that they done! I have great expectations with smite 2
honestly the thing with the skins sucks ass. I can't play certain gods without using certain skins for them (yeah I know its weird of me) but everything else I am totally for! I just hope they can slowly in the future do bring back most of the old skins via patch updates or something like that
They've said they'll try to bring fan favorites for most or every god, atleast 1 of them over, that can be payed with 100% of your legacy gems. Other than that I'm sure Smite 2 will get even better skins Smite 1 had where they're built and designed with the new engine.
Honestly I don’t mind losing the skins I just want the game to feel smooth. No more spaghetti code. Besides I am sure the skins they will make will look a lot better in ur5
I really want it to comeback to Mac, especially cause last time their excuse was that since Mac dropped support for 32bit they couldn't continue but now that they are building from the ground up it should be okay, right?
@@henriquecosteira1282 we are very early on since alpha isn't even out yet. I do think the chance is pretty good but no use in them promising something like that this early
I actually got usefull info about Smite 2. I randomly saw that Smite 2 will be released, looked at the trailer and decided, that it is just an engine switch without anything new to the game. ...well, I mean, it's recreation of the whole game, what is really hard, but... yeah... (I didn't even thought about skins transfer. Oh well) With this new Smite... May be we will get something liKE WARCRAFT WORLD EDI~ nevermind, just dreaming.
I really feel like people aren't looking at it from quite the right angle when discussing people's outrage or being upset at the gem/skin situation. They are being generous I will say right out the bat they could have given us squat if they chose too. People would have obviously hated that too but what they did could be seen as just as insulting depending on the player you ask. Whether you agree being a whale is good or care about someone losing online stuff you can't deny that someone losing 1000$ vs 100$ is a big leap. When they say "here we are giving you something but spend it the way we want you too" that to me is more insulting than being given nothing at all. Eventually all online service games will just die that's reality but having someone half ass being nice while wanting you to keep using a service or theirs also doesn't feel very good.
First post was getting big so will finish here. They basically said we know how much all of you spend we have a system made that COULD be allowed for you to do things in a more generous Way but we of course wanna make more money. which again is fair that's reality but then don't pretend or half ass being nice. They also have even said truly ported skins in the future will be 100% buyable using legacy gems so basically they don't care about it or don't think they can make money off old stuff so here take it. I have loved this and their other games over these past 12 years so I am not bitter but am for sure insulted by them only attempting to be nice and not going all in at least for the most dedicated.
I’m someone that must have spent at least $1000 on smite over that past 10 years. when I spent that money, I knew that i was basically losing it because smite wouldn’t last forever or I wouldn’t play it forever. I’m extremely grateful that they’re doing it but wouldn’t care if they didn’t because like i said, I knew that I was spending my money on something that wouldn’t last. To be insulted by the legacy gem system because you can only spend it a certain way is bizarre. You acknowledge that most companies wouldn’t do anything and say they’re being generous by doing so yet still find a way to be insulted by it. You are the embodiment of “someone will always find a way to be offended” 🫢
bro it is not hirez anymore. it is titanforge. and they didnt add new content to the game in last 5 years, instead they removed most content from the game. clash siege ranked arena etc. and now they want us to pay for smite 2 so they can fix issues they didnt in las 5 years? yeah sure buddy
Exactly it feels like they try to tame the furious playerbase with this while still forcing them to spend more money on the game just so the game won't flop completely. They would probably get a lot less backlash if they changed it so you could buy 100% of the price with a 50% price increase or something similar I just hope that people realize that they should stop buying skins for Smite 1 at this point.
since Titanforge took ovwer if eel like love ahs been lost. they just contiusly divide the communtiy more on every corner, make 0 new content and in fact remove content from the game clash siege ranked arena... and make new pay events afcors@@Schnittchen011
That about UE3 vs UE5 of how huge a leap it is and how outdated UE3 is, is what i've tried to argue with anyone saying "It's just a tiny graphics update, what's the problem porting skins? This is a scam", like dude, do you know how engines work and how ancient UE3 is by today's standards? And then the counter argument to "But you still got Smite 1" being "Yeah but they'll shut it down when Smite 2 is done and 1 is bleeding players" which, again, do you realize that if we didn't have Smite 2, with how old UE3 is, we may not have a Smite. Sure servers may be up, might still milk skins, but it's hitting its grave. Yes Smite 2 will kill off Smite 1 earlier, but are you that possessive of your skins you rather have maybe 6-10 more years of Smite 1 as opposed to maybe 3-6 years of Smite 1 and possibility of another 15-30 years of Smite 2? The game itself matters more, your money spent wasn't in vain. You may have only seen the skins you got as reward for it, but I'd like to believe a lot of that money went into a company that could keep Smite alive this long and to have the resources after growing to work on Smite 2. Your investment wasn't in just Smite 1 but Smite 2 as well and to keep a game franchise alive a looot longer if HiRez delivers well.
What many players get wrong about this is the fact that Hirez is not primarily doing the engine upgrade out of generosity but to make sure their game doesn't die and they still profit. I don't understand how people always defend this. I get it and I don't think people should be entitled to gems they spent 10 years ago but what about the content that released last year? This feels like a total scam and while I stopped playing this game 2 years ago and didn't spend much money I can totally understand people that are angry about their 1000s of dollers gone. They should really reconsider their monetization with the legacy gems because the players they most profited from are whales that buy every skin and it stands to question wether these people will spend that much money again after losing their trust in Hirez
Long time smite fan and whale would love to talk to you about this. Because much like most people you havent even scraped the surface of the issues hi rez are causing for themselves and the community. Dont get me wrong I am all for smite 2 but they are saying one thing and doing another.
Eh I'm looking at this with caution, until I see results I'm withholding praise. Given a lot of questionable decisions Hi-Rez has done before. The skin situation still annoys me. If this new currency can be earned in game rather than me paying for gems, I can kinda let it slide. Otherwise I may as well just drop a 100 bucks for 8000 gems. They should've made it so that either A. the skins cost double or 1.5 times more when using legacy gems or B. Just let you have your purchases with the gems, they'll get their money back sooner rather than later especially given some of their skin prices. Nothing they've done regarding the currency screams the same level of generosity that the god pack in Smite 1 does which to this day I still can't believe they did that and I doubt they would repeat that. 20 dollars for every god and future gods is still insane. Im glad to hear that they've moved to a new engine and are making progress fast. The items and stats being more like League is interesting. I hope the big takeaway from League is making their god designs standout better. That's the one thing that League always had over Smite, regardless of how unbalanced certain champions were, they always had unique gimmicks and stood out from each other. Meanwhile the most interesting gods released by Smite were Cthulhu and Arthur. Every other god has just had the same patterns. Big aoe ability, small aoe, medium aoe, line ability, line ability into AOE. Shit I wouldn't care if they ripped a dozen pages from League's character design because Smite always played better than League and was easier to get into.
Well in the case of Morrigan its really one ability of hers that stands out. I'm referring to a character whose whole kit is special. I did probably miss a few but those two are the ones that always stay on the top of my head and I don't play Cthulhu. Glad to hear about the god pack. Would be great if old players who have it, have the permission transferred as well. If they're really so worried about money. Could just have a smaller pack for cheaper that guarantees you getting new gods such as Hecate and others. But I can say that having to purchase the god pack again, if they don't bump up the price, is not an egregious issue compared to the skins.@@Hatmaster
As far as I know, no they will not since they take full advantage of the new engine. Not sure if Smite 1 will have some new gods coming out of its own or duel releases but it sounds like Hecate is already Smite 2 only
It's an entirely new game, to offer anything at all is pretty amazing. By doing so they're expecting smite 2 to do at least twice as good as smite 1 from old / returning players. They've essentially started smite 2 off in debt and that's not an easy choice to make
Personally stopped playing in season 10 because of matchmaking if that’s not fixed I feel no reason to comeback . I am happy for people who like the new game just not for me anymore
My only wish is that they still have a God Pack to purchase un Smite 2. Is what made me play Smite instead of other MOBA, that I didn't have to pay everytime or grind a lot even when I was playing less.
It's the biggest and only negative feedback I've heard about it so far which is why I addressed it in depth. Will probably make a follow up video more about smite 2 details
Smite was my go to moba , it had 3 very important aspects It ran on older hardware. It is one of the only if not the only game where you can play a 3rd person multiplayer game with unique characters. And its a moba. Will they optimize the game for older hardware? Will they update the gameplay? , Because a huge part of smite is just i use my circle on you or i throw my ball at you , i jump on you ect. A third person moba can be so much more... Will they make more active items with stats like lol or dota to make more in depth gameplay.Smite is my favourite moba, but it is hands down the simplest. What will be the main attraction to smite 2? I ended up letting go of smite after i just wasnt interested in the gameplay. And i wont comeback to smite for the moba aspects. I want some sort of improvement besides graphics.
On PS5, Smite crashes & DCes me very often. Sometimes, it even turns off my PS5! It's messed up. I'm excited & disappointed about Smite 2. I have a lot of skins and feel like we're being ripped off in half. It is what it is though. Maybe/hopefully we get to keep the UI skins. I hope we get the Classic UI again because the new UI is horrible on Smite!
People getting mad about having to rebuy skins but COD do it every year and no one bats an eye. I’m all for a whole new game. Smite has stagnated, it still bugs which will never be fixed, and also modern updated graphics will attract hopefully new players, new players means better games and more variety. Playing the same 4/5 people in every other game in Smite 1 has become real tiresome lately…
Will still be in smite 1, although maybe with enough support in smite 2 they may get remade there. Lots of work to recreate a t5 from the ground up again though
While I can understand most points in the video the one thing that absolutely bugs me and seems like total cashgrab is the fact you can only pay 50% with your legacy gems instead of giving people like half their spent gems and let them buy 100% bceause while technically speaking smite 1 won't be shut down it's pretty sure the player count will drop drastically until it dies of completely. Even if they release some skins that are purchasable with legacy gems they will be few in between and it will probably end like it is in smite 1 with the monetization getting worse every year. With skins for direct purchase getting a rarity only releasing skins in stupid chests with 1000 items until they finally decided to DOUBLE the prices with the reasoning that their skin quality got better. By that defintion their prizes in Smite 2 will probably rise again so even with the discount you will probably spend the same amount you paid for skins in Smite 1. I will wait till release but while they definitely have to update their game engine to stay relevant their reasoning for the monetization seems like a cheap excuse to empty the pockets of whales again and I would really like to know how they got the number of 400 years to update and port every item.
If a Smite 1 skin takes two months to transfer over. How the hell are they doing a stock skin and god per month? Shouldn't that take longer than any single skin?
Because it takes 2 months for a single employee to do it. When they have everyone sharing the work load they're able to do this for new gods / new skins. However if they want to do old skins also, they would have to split up the team more which means it would take way longer for Smite 2 to be further developed. Some skins like T5s require a lot of code along with the art.
They’ve been working on it for over a year. So there’s probably tons of gods already done that they are just refining before the drip feed them to us. It’s not taking them 1 week to re release a god
Do we know how legacy gems will work on skins "on sale" for Smite 2? Is there a silly rule of "cannot be combined with other offers". In example, if a skin in Smite 2 costs 600gems- and is on a 50% sale costing 300 - will I still be able to use my legacy gems to cut that cost in half (150/150)?
Indeed! In my experience, IRL sales usually have a disclaimer of "cannot be combined with other offers" - I'd hate for that to be true in Smite 2 in regards to skins :( @@Hatmaster
I dont think they should keep supporting smite one if they are really making smite two. blizzard lied about keeping overwatch one available to play, but developing two different versions of a game is super demanding and would slow down everything for both. I cant wait to see morrigan in 4k ultra HD on unreal 5, granted she WILL DEFINITELY NOT be one of the first gods added.
I imagine smite 1 will go down once smite 2 fully releases but that's not going to be for a long time. We're guarenteed at least another year with season 11 though!
"Hey, you remember all those cosmetics we sold you via loot boxes and FOMO campaigns? Well, you won't own any of that for much longer. But guess what? We're giving you a bunch of fancy 50%-off coupons on some new loot boxes and FOMO items"
Not to mention, you will still be able to buy any PORTED skins back without paying a cent. This last bit is really important, you know. You won't have to pay for stuff you've already paid for again. And voicepacks are free! They kind of shot themselves in the foot with the way they presented legacy gems initially, but now after they've confirmed everything this is actually a very decent compromise. There's no way this game, with all of its content, would've survived much longer on UE3
@@Hatmaster But see, that's the thing though.. A 50%-off coupon is "nothing" unless I'm just itching to give Hi-Rez more money (which I'm not, because I no longer have any incentive to do so. There's a trust violation here, I don't own the things I'm buying). It's looking like even the god pack won't transfer over.. This is not about skin development effort. It's about extracting as much money as possible from their playerbase.
This feels too little too late. Plus they are cutting into a LoL building system without taking into account why that system works. I like that they are comparing but they need people that play these kinds of games to figure out why they work. Basing it purely off some of the gameplay released so far, but it almost feels like those mobile game ads with little changes between them. Not smite 1 to smite 2. Smite 1 with mechanics duct taped on from more successful games
Smite 1 is the idea of smite with duct tape due to having to deal with the restraints of ue3. Now they can do whatever they want way easier. Smite's current UI runs on flash for crying out loud lol
@@Hatmaster I realize this but it feels like they're just rushing it out with a third wave of mobas coming out, LoL spiking in interest especially with the show, and I've seen a lot of smite creators branch out and the one's who don't complain for various reasons. It does looked rushed. I don't care if Smite 1 is all duct tape at this point and I'm gonna try smite 2 but I've already moved on trying other mobas and having those comparisons available make it worse. Sure it will get better over time like No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk but do they really think that's gonna mean anything in a year? The only reason I say a year is because they are already promising an alpha in the next three months and that's too crucial for them to have done a cut and paste job.
@@Hatmaster This. Smite was one big ball of duct tape from the start. Unreal Engine 5 has much more modularity built in to the engine than UDK (Unreal Engine 3, aka Unreal Development Kit) did, and the plethora of features you have out of the package, even for non developers, makes it significantly easier to implement pretty much anything you want. There were _a lot_ of UDK games, including Killing Floor 2, but many of the more unique ones required major modifications to the game engine itself to allow for whatever visions the developers had. UE5 doesn't require quite as much C++ or C# tinkering to create the same modules. I do wonder about the build system in Smite 2, since they started with that in Smite 1's alpha as well and very quickly switched away from it, but we'll see how they actually implement it. It could be haphazard like many of the things they've done in Smite 1 and be an absolute disaster - it could also be very well thought out and implemented and allow for more build diversity and better god balancing, as some have theorized. But it will be in alpha to begin with, so they have some time to figure out what really works and refine it.
@@InvalidationX145 They've waited longer than most games do to update their engine. Granted they aren't as big as some, but ts been 11 years though that they've skated by on Smite 1. Also with how volatile the item changes have been just season to season, I doubt so. Some items (especially two consumables in particular) were good to just nix from the game, but others were actually unique and fit certain characters better. Its become very diluted with some characters that just shine better due to working better with items. Maybe Smite could even do a 180 and be less item-centric. The items change the meta more than character balances do. Overwatch was very good at making characters which were unique and Gigantic had a dynamic map and made it so maining a character could feel different if you played it 30+ times. Smite has a 3rd person perspective which granted does let you look at your character and skins, but what else does it have to separate from the rest.
I think they said when you spend them it gets added to your Smite 2 Legacy Gems. I don’t remember if they still get doubled post launch of Smite 2. Or I’m completely wrong and they just sit there in Smite 1 only with no Smite 2 bonus for those.
They have to be spent as gems just sitting in your account will not transfer over from what I understand. Might need to wait for hirez's response on that.
I can't get over the skins. I get it, but I hate it. I am playing the same game, with better graphics and different animations, without the skins I want. I'll have to stay in smite 1 sadly. And when that goes away I'll have to quit the game. It's been fun.
You're okay with the graphics now but are you okay with all the bugs you've experienced all these years? Okay with how long it takes to address major issues in smite? Development in smite 2 will be a lot more streamlined. There's a ton of positive things that are not obvious that will come with Smite 2
You’re not scammed, even if they close down smite and didn’t make smite 2 it’s not a scam. You bought digital items in a video game which last as long as the game lasts. unfortunately for people who care about skins in smite 1, the game will probably be ending in a couple years. It’ll happen to every game that has skins/cosmetics in them
@@bladethevamp they moving the game to another engine the SAME game, i know moving to another engine is hard. we spent on skins here and they wanna give us the amount we spend but we can only use it to pay for half the price of stuff? this whole half price idea is bs they basically will take away ur skins and half ur money
Porting a god starting from scratch? Pshh soo easy takes us a week. Making a couple effects with different colors for a just a skin? God help us it takes 2 months we're dying over here. Also the 100+ skins coming out this year, yea that's being ported over no problem please don't ask questions on how that's possible while we're working on patches for Season 11 while trying to develop Smite 2 from alpha. It's all about the money honestly and those legacy gems only work for "most" of the items in Smite 2 so you best believe all the best looking things won't accept your legacy gems. It wouldn't be so bad if they were just up front with it all instead of trying to lie about it.
also they've clarified on the "most" for legacy gems. The only skins that will not be purchaseable is crossover events and that's because how they do the revenue share details, if the cross over allows them to they will! Also other skins you will be able to get with 100% legacy gems. Which is why they used the term "most"
@@Hatmaster Their plate is full enough while coming out with all the patches throughout the year, skins, new gods all while developing their new game. But they can still somehow manage to port all of these skins this year over to Smite 2? They sure are making it look easy porting skins over with THIS much on their plate. I want to believe them but they just don't do themselves any favors with all of the contradictions is all.
@@CanderousOttoI would imagine that them being able to port over all the skins from this year means they made the skins for both games at the same time so it wasn’t a big deal. Them having to go back to remake all old skins would mean they wouldn’t be able to focus on making new skins. would also mean they’d lose money because they said all old skins will be buyable with 100% legacy gems
What do you realistically expect them to do when they would need to be built from the ground up? They're going to bring in fan favorite and popular skins that can still be bought 100 percent with legacy gems.
My issue is if they hired more people they can port skins over but they want to make as much money as they can so they are getting rid of everyone's skins
If they wanted to make so much money they wouldn't have done legacy gems. Legacy gems is essentially putting hirez in debt that they expect to do twice as well as smite 1 did with smite 2 to just be where they were previously, at least with old / returning players.
@@DeviousTree2 I feel like they were pretty clear about the legacy gem usage. it covers half of the new skins purchases so they’ll be half off if you use your legacy gems. They’ll cover 100% of the purchase if it’s a skin that was from the original smite
Meh it looks like the same game to me , its a pass . Maybe if they added pve stuff it could be fun , the pvp in smite is as always ruined by meta and you get to play the exact same match over and over again.
That's the thing, with smite 2 being built in unreal engine 5 there are so many more possibilities. If it does well we might get a PVE mode or something like that, would be really cool!
@Hatmaster Fine ya got me there , IF they do add something appealing and fresh, I will give it a chance . Smite 1 though after 2k hours I have no further interest in it lol
@@Hatmaster idk, I know legacy code is painful and slow to deal with, so porting is kinda impossible, but at least give us an entire skin or the entire value, not just half
@@WesleyCremonini smites been up for over 10 years. That money has been spent on employees, pro players, servers etc... Giving 100 percent for all skins in smite 2 would be a death sentence for the game considering the skins in smite 2 are going to be new ones entirely remade from the ground up. They could have given nothing and they've in a way already set themselves in debt by doing this. They are expecting smite 2 to do at least twice as good as smite 1 with what they are offering just to make the same amount from old / returning players.
Not porting the Ultimate God Pack players have already is the perfect encapsulation of the intent beind this "sequel". Let's be very clear here, this is NOT a sequel. This doesn't change the game in any meaningful way other than changing the engine, this is no more than a patch. HiRez is just following the awful trend we've seen appearing everywhere, especially in live service games, it's simply a way to get an advertisment push (because they are going to pretend this is a new game release), while milking the already existing player base. HiRez has to be totally deluded if they think I'll ever buy again the Ultimate God Pack, a pack that is meant to be a permanent unlock for my account, and they have to be high on crack if they think I will keep playing a game that just deleted all the cosmetics I've paid and unlocked through the years. Believing that they will Run Smite 1 for anything more than like 1 year after they release smite 2 is copium and distraction from the fact that they clearly intend Smite 2 to replace 1 this is best time to record net captutes and game dumps (to get network crypt needs if needed) and later start writing custom server.
Smite 1 will still be around for at least a year with s11 out. Without smite 2 I don't think it could survive much longer running on ue3. Either embrace smite 2 and the future it will bring, or it would have went down anyways with time. Don't know what to tell you. Also remember they ARE bringing fan favorite skins over to smite 2 which you can purchase 100 percent with legacy gems.
@@sqyid100 It's a step they have to make to make sure the game survives and still they try to use it in a way to milk the maximum amount of the playerbase
The legacy gems is such a scam It still requires NEW money put into the game. Imagine if you’re somebody who spent $200 on lifetime skins. You now need to spend $100 MORE dollars. Do you get more skins? Maybe eventually. But maybe you didn’t want it? I think they should let you buy 100% of a skin with legacy gems. THAT is fair, but the current system is a scam for players that spent a lot of money Granted, I have spent $0 on this game, so I don’t care and I am quite excited for smite 2
Thats ridiculous and they just wouldnt make any money. Its a f2p game and for example I can prettty safely say most players have bought at least 6000 gems over their time playing in that case it would take 6000 gems worth of skins being added to the game before hirez would see a single dollar for this game their betting everything on. It would literally kill the company I dont get how people keep advocating for this point its so devoid of any deeper thought into how a business works unless you want them to allow that but create the most monetized garbage game possible thats the only way 100% off legacy gems stuff for main content would work. In my case Im probably gonna get like a little under 100,000 legacy gems I think and it would be doubled if I buy the founders pack do you see how the math there does not work for me being a revenue generating player for hirez in smite 2 if all those gems work as full currency I would never have to give hi-rez another dollar again. Also I would still have bought smite 1 content If smite2 didnt exist doing this proposed system of Legacy gems to full buy stuff is so antithetical to making a company money its like literally laughable Its like telling a grocery store to not charge anyone who has shopped there for over 2 years from now on.
I've probably put wayyy more money into this game than the average player and it is more than fair. Again you get legacy gems for gems you got for free over the years, so for you personally this is a HUGE win
A couple things worth noting here: 1. Smite is a free game. You aren't paying $60+ dollars every year or every couple of years like some other franchises. THIS ALONE should lower your expectations for what to expect with gems. 2. HiRez in general gives away so much free shit. Battle passes are extremely worth to grind out, there's consistent 2x or 3x favor/xp/worshipper weekends, and tons of opportunities for getting free gems just from playing a few games a day 3. Let's assume that HiRez is making it to where legacy gems can buy 100% of a skin. Let's ALSO assume that the majority of Smite 2's initial player base is returning Smite 1 players. How do you expect them to make money? At the end of the day they are treading a line of compensating us and needing to make money. If they let legacy gems purchase 100% of a skin, this game would most likely die extremely quickly. They simply wouldn't have money for the first year or 2 4. I think many people underestimate how much of a discount 50% off is. You yourself said that for a $200 skin you are saving $100...that's nothing to scoff at. This isn't for OLD Smite 1 skins that people have previously owned, but brand new skins. That's insanely valuable. I'm also really excited for Smite 2, but I really, REALLY do not understand how people think the legacy gem system is unfair.
lol simp more for hirez. if u would actually give a f about smite u would critize how they handled smite in last 5 years. also it is not Hirez anymore. it is titanforge now. guys who made 0 new content and overmnetize the game and removed clash siege ranked arena... f that@@biackeyesmite6438
@@biackeyesmite6438Lets say a player has 10 skins. And for giggles, lets just say the 10 skins are worth $200. In order for a player to have 10 skins again, a player needs to spend $100 more to have 10 skins. Sure, the skins are better, more polished, etc, etc, but the player is spending MORE to have essentially the same. Again, I never purchased a skin with real dollars, so I don't really care about the change. But I can see why some people would be upset.
Attack speed Khepri is gonna be huge in Smite 2

What im especially proud of them is that they seem to actually be using good development practices this time around. Like, we know that they have at least made it so gods are developed in modules that can easily be swapped out too. We could potentially have an MOTD where each god has a random selection of abilities, during prealpha shoecase this was shown with ymir having anhur ult. god and item stats will be defined in simple json files, so it will no longer be such a hassle to change stats over like a dozen separate places. Stuff like that. So we can expect a lot better and higher quality updates in the years to come
lol they made 300 mil and it costs just 30 mil to transfer skins over so yea they just money sponging you guys off skins for democrats XD
Could you imagine a motd where you get a random god and the passive and abilities are completely random for what you get? Like the whole kit
They can’t win with people like you, your mind is already made up
they didnt miss major community and gamemode issues in last 5 years so we will see. very divided community@@dereklangston9
Every time I tried to get someone into Smite I was apalled by how terrible it was for a new player. They really need to nail the new player experience and the tutorials in Smite 2. Keeping new players is going to be extremely important.
I'm hoping they will! Should be a lot easier to implement!
@@Hatmasternot a dev thing the people need to be banned for toxicity and abuse
its not much better for older players either. non existent pro scene, no tournaments, ignoring international/EU players, console players.
And so on. "No, your content is in the hand of Daddy Sony."
"Yeah, no. They can fucking keep it if this is how they are going to treat their customers."
I'm sure this new version will do a lot of things that might frustrate us initially.
"I can hopefully fully migrate over to PC for good."
The only thing I used the PS5 was Genshin, because I didn't have a good PC at the time for that.
The game looks beautiful and aside from some very, very minor gripes (the god portraits look a bit weird) I'm so hyped for this new stage of Smite.
people dont care about skins. they care about issues we ahd in the game for last 7 years to be fixed instead of monetizing smite 2.
@@GamingDualitiesthat's what they are doing genius. Smite 2 IS THE FIX YOU'RE ASKING FOR. I swear to god you people just want to complain for the sake of it because your very souls have been blackened by toxicity and negativity.

I’m so so so excited! I can’t wait. The rate of 1 god per week is CRAZYYYY fast. And the skin system (imo) is pretty generous. So hyped for the future of smite
Fingers crossed they slowly roll out the tier 5s a couple months into the game.
I was a lil iffy about my precious skins at first but I understand it all and am still excited for it. All new battles and stuff to be had, so much fun is coming ❤
Hell yeah, im hyped ! And looking forward to the guardian gauntlet ❤
they are also getting rid of the voice packs, so all gods just have their own voices by default now, which is even more free value
RIGHT THIS IS AWESOME!
Holy shit that's amazing
Def will miss them skins... But a new smite in ue5 has infinite potential ! Also i believe they are making the upgrade in the best possible way ! Can't wait for all the new cheese builds and qol changes... The ymir idea looks epic and revisiting old gods seems like a good idea... But it's scary lol. Maybe even playing more than 3 games of ranked per season idk.
Good thing I’ll have to give Hi-Rez more money for the money I’ve already spent if I want cosmetics I’ve already paid for.
cosmetics that are in smite 1 that do make it to smite 2 you can buy with 100% legacy gems.
Otherwise it will be completely new cosmetics you can buy with 50% off
I called this a year ago. We have needed this for a while
Return of HAT!
Also, good insight. Big fan of Smite 2 personally.
We are running on an xbox 360 era (which is now considered a retro console its so old) engine and fkin Flash UI 😭
Also, idk why people think they are owed skins on the next game too.
Return of hatmaster?? Nah this is return of the king!
I am not a compettuve player and just now got back into smite but I am glad they keeping the appeal of having all these different myths and legends and I can't to see the new comers and new trailers
It’s gonna be so easy to hire people for UE5 compared to UE3
I’m here for it hat! As much or as little as you want to upload, I want to watch
Can’t wait for hat’s crit ymir montage haha!
Been years since I played Smite. Thanatos main..miss it a lot.
I am excited for Smite 2.
Love your thoughts and agree 200% with everything you've said.
Luckily it seems like at this point, all the clowns crying about skins, comparing it to OW2 and even CS2, are the small but loud minority. And every day see more and more people coming around to support this amazing sequel that this amazing dev team has worked so hard for the entire player base to make SMITE2 as amazing as it can possibly be ❤
Rebuilding this game from the ground up is what so many of us have been asking for for years.
Super excited to have a hat comeback!
I also dont want it to fumble like OW2 and CS2 did
From people I heard at SWC that play tested Smite 2, the quality difference is definitely noticeable! Especially sound in Smite 2 is WAY better!
@@Hatmaster im just glad the face models wont look like theyre stuck in 2012 lol We've had all those cool skins just for them to look nowhere near the card art cause of the old engine

We got to be honest guys they’re not gonna keep Smite 1 forever it’s just a temporary measure for Smite 2 to get on its feet, but we should be glad Smite 2 is coming finally the support role won’t be so stale with these new items. tank jungle might become a thing. which is present in other mobas. things are looking up.

honestly the thing with the skins sucks ass. I can't play certain gods without using certain skins for them (yeah I know its weird of me) but everything else I am totally for! I just hope they can slowly in the future do bring back most of the old skins via patch updates or something like that

@@Hatmaster shame on my for forgetting, but... Can we get a part two? 👉👈
Thank You for reminde me about Smite. Bless You :)
Oh well)
With this new Smite...
They would probably get a lot less backlash if they changed it so you could buy 100% of the price with a 50% price increase or something similar
I just hope that people realize that they should stop buying skins for Smite 1 at this point.
since Titanforge took ovwer if eel like love ahs been lost. they just contiusly divide the communtiy more on every corner, make 0 new content and in fact remove content from the game clash siege ranked arena... and make new pay events afcors@@Schnittchen011
Smites got some pretty crazy gods with the morrigan and such, also god pack will return with smite 2!
Are new Smite 2 gods going to be available to Smite 1 players?
As far as I know, no they will not since they take full advantage of the new engine. Not sure if Smite 1 will have some new gods coming out of its own or duel releases but it sounds like Hecate is already Smite 2 only
im surprised people arent upset about the "lose 50% value for all gems youve spent" thing. i dont play much anymore, but thats a slap in the face imo
It's an entirely new game, to offer anything at all is pretty amazing.
By doing so they're expecting smite 2 to do at least twice as good as smite 1 from old / returning players. They've essentially started smite 2 off in debt and that's not an easy choice to make
4,608 hours played... yeah I think I`ll give Smite2 a chance ^^
Personally stopped playing in season 10 because of matchmaking if that’s not fixed I feel no reason to comeback . I am happy for people who like the new game just not for me anymore
Watch the dev insight! Their number 1 priority is going to be match making considering they can do it in a way ue3 would not allow!
I love smite and I hope smite 2 can actually be the best possible game it can be, cheers y’all 🎉🎉🎉
My only wish is that they still have a God Pack to purchase un Smite 2. Is what made me play Smite instead of other MOBA, that I didn't have to pay everytime or grind a lot even when I was playing less.
Smite 2 will have a god pack as well
Main thing I care about is Fenrir being in the game. I care about the overall game of course, but i need my go to
Fenrir is one of the early gods they’ve mentioned, so you’re in luck!
What kind of world do we live in where a video about smite 2 is one third about skins... I didnt think the skins were what mattered.
It's the biggest and only negative feedback I've heard about it so far which is why I addressed it in depth. Will probably make a follow up video more about smite 2 details
Smite was my go to moba , it had 3 very important aspects
It ran on older hardware.
If Xing Leap is still borked I swear to god HiRez
I do think it'll be less janky 🤣
I hope smite 2 has a more zoomed out camera
Bro they better not remove my 42 stars on Cthulhu
Smite2 will be good. Anyone crying about skins stfu.
Just because CoD players are stupid enough to accept this scam doesn't mean others should do the same
freaking gaming
But.... my t5 skins?????
I have 1700 skins in smite 1... I'm still all for smite 2 but that's what sucks the most 😂😂
Fan favorite skins will come back at least that can be purchaseable 100% with legacy gems from my understanding
It's going to be a while before smite 2 is even worth playing with so few gods
They're releasing old Smite gods at a rate of one a week, that's a pretty fast rate if you ask me
SMITE 2 models look like plastic toys at the moment.
I'm really worried about active items
i will NOT be playing if crime boss kuzenbo isnt in 😔
As much as I love some skins, I'll take a better game anyday
I think they’re gonna try to bring over as many super popular ones as they can and I imagine Crime Boss has to be up there
Do we know how legacy gems will work on skins "on sale" for Smite 2? Is there a silly rule of "cannot be combined with other offers". In example, if a skin in Smite 2 costs 600gems- and is on a 50% sale costing 300 - will I still be able to use my legacy gems to cut that cost in half (150/150)?
I believe it will be half of whatever the regular gem price is at the moment, but something good to keep in mind when the alpha comes out
Indeed! In my experience, IRL sales usually have a disclaimer of "cannot be combined with other offers" - I'd hate for that to be true in Smite 2 in regards to skins :( @@Hatmaster

I really hope jormungandr is innn
3:58 huh?
Do i get to keep my Archon thanatos skin and Xbalanque world cup skins?
Smite skins will not be ported over from 1 to 2. It's an entirely new game
Ody bow qins khepri....
"Hey, you remember all those cosmetics we sold you via loot boxes and FOMO campaigns? Well, you won't own any of that for much longer. But guess what? We're giving you a bunch of fancy 50%-off coupons on some new loot boxes and FOMO items"
They could have easily given nothing, it's a new game. Feel like it's more than fair for the huge upgrade smite is getting.
Without the sequel Smite 1 will die eventually and with it all the skins
@@sonant_bwolfe what's your counter on what they should do? Smite 1 stays up you still own your skins there.
Smite has a 3rd person perspective which granted does let you look at your character and skins, but what else does it have to separate from the rest.
what about the gems i haven't spend?
I think they said when you spend them it gets added to your Smite 2 Legacy Gems. I don’t remember if they still get doubled post launch of Smite 2. Or I’m completely wrong and they just sit there in Smite 1 only with no Smite 2 bonus for those.
Spend them in smite 1 and get legacy gems in smite 2. Smite 2 doesn't release for like a year, plenty of time to get your worth
They have to be spent as gems just sitting in your account will not transfer over from what I understand. Might need to wait for hirez's response on that.
Gems in your account will transfer as normal gems only spent gems are made into legacy gems

Won’t change the fact the community is horrible
u cant have smite 1 and smite 2 together, it slit the comunitee apart. smite one will shut down. this does not fix game, i am ok with graphics now
You're okay with the graphics now but are you okay with all the bugs you've experienced all these years? Okay with how long it takes to address major issues in smite? Development in smite 2 will be a lot more streamlined. There's a ton of positive things that are not obvious that will come with Smite 2
so we are scammed in terms of skins
Smite 1 is still up, you can still use your skins there
You’re not scammed, even if they close down smite and didn’t make smite 2 it’s not a scam. It wouldn't be so bad if they were just up front with it all instead of trying to lie about it.
they can only release 1 god a week because they have everyone working on all these gods, many at the same time
also they've clarified on the "most" for legacy gems.
The only skins that will not be purchaseable is crossover events and that's because how they do the revenue share details, if the cross over allows them to they will!

Believing that they will Run Smite 1 for anything more than like 1 year after they release smite 2 is copium and distraction from the fact that they clearly intend Smite 2 to replace 1
this is best time to record net captutes and game dumps (to get network crypt needs if needed) and later start writing custom server.
Calling a two generation engine leap "no more than a patch" is mind boggling, let alone the fact it was recreated from scratch.
@@sqyid100 It's a step they have to make to make sure the game survives and still they try to use it in a way to milk the maximum amount of the playerbase
The legacy gems is such a scam
It still requires NEW money put into the game. Imagine if you’re somebody who spent $200 on lifetime skins. You now need to spend $100 MORE dollars. Do you get more skins? Maybe eventually. But maybe you didn’t want it?
I think they should let you buy 100% of a skin with legacy gems. THAT is fair, but the current system is a scam for players that spent a lot of money
Granted, I have spent $0 on this game, so I don’t care and I am quite excited for smite 2
A couple things worth noting here:
1. Smite is a free game. You aren't paying $60+ dollars every year or every couple of years like some other franchises. THIS ALONE should lower your expectations for what to expect with gems.
2. HiRez in general gives away so much free shit. Battle passes are extremely worth to grind out, there's consistent 2x or 3x favor/xp/worshipper weekends, and tons of opportunities for getting free gems just from playing a few games a day
3. They simply wouldn't have money for the first year or 2
I just hope they dont do loot boxs that shit made it so i never bought anything
they will 100% return with their stupid lootbox system with 1000 items containing ward skins and shit like that
