Over 20 years ago, I discovered this problem on the big bearing so a machine company had to specially manufacture one for my VR6 turbo, it was made of bronze and with an oil channel in the middle around the entire bearing to distribute the oil better like the smal bearing you use.
I did this in year 2001, and the engine was only 3 years old, but still the bearing was bad.
I have since always wondered if it was just me who had the problem?

as a man still living in ny its good to be reminded by malakas that at least i live where good pizza is. also i feel like 12v are more likely to need the bearings because of the age of most of them before they get built. i know ill be adding this to my 12v build list.

Definitely, just pulled a motor out of the junk yard and the bearings looks new but had .0039 and over clearances. In the rod journals. If you are buying a vr6 learn to assemble and spend the 500-700 bucks to have the machine shop spec and clean the engine. Better safe than sorry… trust me.

The intermidiate shaft spins at crankshaft RPM if it has the same number of teeth as the drive sprocket on the Crank or at 1/2 Crank RPM (Camshaft RPM) if it has twice the # of teeth as the Crank drive gear.
yep, you can count the teeth on both sprockets and divide: driven gear (im sprocket)/drive gear (crank sprocket)=gear ratio
@@richardzielinski5707Without looking at it I'd be inclined to say it's Crank RPM and not cam rpm as that would drive the oil pump faster and provide more oiling volume to the engine
The intermediate shaft has 2 sprockets. The bigger inner sprocket is driven by the crank at 1:1. The smaller outer sprocket drives the camshafts via the upper timing chain and has a reduction ratio of 2:1. So basically the intermediate shaft itself mean speed is always is equal to engine RPM.

What part of this shows the actual install? Long screw with washers and nuts is a good way to make a screw press.
My 12v blew up and my intermediate shaft key way gear actually snapped and I spin the head and broke the bottom chain off and the valves kissed so I had to find a new one definitely have never seen a video on this stuff great video

Hi hope you can plz help me with some advice....apparently some people say that it needs to be line bored because after installing the bearing the shaft does not want to go in. Is it true or won't i have a problem if i just install the bearing?

If you hit with some dry ice, it will come out easier. Next time.😁 You also put the new ones in the freezer. They shrink with cold.
All good tips that we used on other projects we will try this when we do stavs new engine. Appreciate the advice

you said this is a touareg block...is it the same as the r32?what is the difference between the! touareg and the golf.head? cums?
for the most part yeah the cam profile and tune are liike 10hp lower on the touareg. I have a 3.2 touareg long block to so a 3.2 swap to my corrado slc..... parts include, intake mani, oil pump, pan, etc to shorten the block a bit for a faux fwd R32 swap
