Hey I think it's cool that she said she was black. I can picture her. Nothing wrong with that. She can describe herself if she wants to. @random person
Maybe. Since the title says she's hearing for the first time, the fact that she's talking pisses people off if they don't know that it can be learned. Though I read it is extremely difficult for people who never heard anything. Then there's people like me who thumb it down when I see people bitching in the comments about the thumbs down.
My stepmother had poor vision all her life, white cane legally blind. She has had her vision surgically restored at over 60 years old and she explains it as a visual overload because her brain doesn't know how to proscess all the incoming information.
Yes, it brought tears to my eyes and I’m a life hardened 70 year old with hearing loss from guns, power equipment and age. I’m grateful for the hearing I have so that I can still enjoy conversations, music and movies (I always use captions at home). I thank the scientists who developed this blessing for this young lady and wish them continued success. To the scoffers, smart people can develop either crime skills or things like this. I want to encourage them to develop things like this; make life better for humanity.
@@twocents777 more than that I think because she lived her whole without having something that others have, I'm sure she had some difficult times in her life
She has seen her dad probably every day of her 26 years, and hearing his voice for the first time in her life? Wow! As a dad myself that bit got me.. Actually all of it did.. Wonderful stuff!
Unfortunately, her new found hearing caused her a lot of embarrassment, as all these years no one had told her that what she thought were silent but deadly farts were very much audible in public.
My ear doctor in Newport Beach, Dr John House, invented the cochlear implant. He was the kindest, most humble doctor I’ve ever met. I went to him for a minor ear problem, but I knew who he was. He unselfishly changed so many lives. Dr. House was a prince among men and a true hero.

I don't think the device works well enough for people to truly experience sound, though I'm sure it would still be interesting to see their reaction. There's a movie similar to this on amazon prime called the sound of metal i believe
I will always treasure the ride home from Duke, the day they activated my wife's implant. All the way home she complained I was yelling at her, why were the tires so loud, what was wrong with the car making all those noises...things she had never heard before or as clear. When we got home and I moved her to the power chair, a mockingbird began to sing in the Bartlett Pear by the driveway. She sat there for 15 minutes with such a look of wonder on her face, at the sound she had never been able to hear in her prior 50 years of life. The photo I took of her that day listening to a bird sing for the first time is one of my favorites.
The sound of birds singing, a wonder to behold, Thankyou for relating this story, brings joy to my heart that is sorely needed in these days of one 1/2 the country opposes the other. God bless always ( please, not trying to start another war of words here.) Like to hear another story of a sound she heard for the first time..❤️🙏👉🇺🇸

it’s a wonderful feeling being able to hear properly, I only just got hearing aids after being partially deaf all my life, I’m 61 and they only just found out after a hearing test that I could only hear bass sound, it’s absolutely fantastic to be able to hear all sounds instead of just muffles, I’ve read lips all my life not knowing I was mostly deaf and you cannot believe how happy I am being able to hear, I’m so happy this girl can now hear I know that wonderful feeling she has.
I've got half the hearing in mine gone. Sucks being in social situations responding like you know what's going on but actually have no clue. >.< Consonants are hard for me too
It's like discovering life all over again. Imagine for the first time hearing music, or birds, or the wind blowing through trees. I would be in tears constantly. This is amazing.
Implants are not yet good enough to allow recipients to tell one note from another unless they are separated by more than an octave, so melodies will not be recognizable or learnable, but she will certainly be able to hear rhythm.

I was born with normal hearing but have a hereditary disease that caused me to slowly go deaf. Six years ago I had an implant fitted and the world is a very different place. @Blank I stopped been able to really hear music from round about 1990. What I could 'listen' to from before then was mainly through memory. When I had my implant fitted I was told it was unlikely I would be able to hear music clearly if at all. When I got home on the day of my activation I decided to try and listen to Albatross by Fleetwood Mac and it was really clear. I'm not ashamed to admit tears flooded from my eyes. Since then as my brain has learnt to interpret the sounds again I have reached the stage that when I listen to classical music I can now pick out the individual instruments in the orchestra. I now have twenty five years of music to catch up with.

I could not say from what country, as I do not know, but does it really matter? In some ways, traditions, beliefs and celebrations....yes it does matter. Different styles of clothing, and food...music....yes it is all different and beautiful and wondrous. Human curiousity is all I possess, and as I get older, and have had and lost friends from different backgrounds...I realize that we have so much more in common with certain affairs, than we think. I have some chronic health issues, and with the way our current media presents, and some of the ways OUR YOUNGER FOLK ACT, REGARDLESS OF RACE, RELIGION, ETC. ...well some of it is simply senseless. Your words are wonderful and you inspired me to say, TAKE CARE N GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS MAM. IN ANOTHER 15 YEARS, MYSELF AND MY HUSBAND OF 30 YEARS, FRIEND FOR 36, WE WILL BE THOUGHT OF AS ELDERLY. I OFFER NOTHING BUT TRUTH AND RESPECT TO YOU, MS. HARDY. from Danielle in South Philadelphia PA. I’m almost fully convinced that there is an organized group of people that go around hitting dislike on every video they possibly can.
I was convinced also when I watched the video of a baby hearing her mom's voice for the first time and getting emotional. 26k dislikes.....
Folks. People pay for likes. The 'like spammers' hide what they are doing by sprinkling dislikes on random videos.
Just like some people get a sense back after years, some lose something!
Maybe. Since the title says she's hearing for the first time, the fact that she's talking pisses people off if they don't know that it can be learned. Though I read it is extremely difficult for people who never heard anything. Then there's people like me who thumb it down when I see people bitching in the comments about the thumbs down.

Yes, it brought tears to my eyes and I’m a life hardened 70 year old with hearing loss from guns, power equipment and age. I’m grateful for the hearing I have so that I can still enjoy conversations, music and movies (I always use captions at home). All the way home she complained I was yelling at her, why were the tires so loud, what was wrong with the car making all those noises...things she had never heard before or as clear. When we got home and I moved her to the power chair, a mockingbird began to sing in the Bartlett Pear by the driveway. It’s 4am and I’m crying my eyes out. I’m so happy for her and her family.
I'm a dad and don't know how this guy manages to stay that calm when he sees her daughter crying and hearing for the first time....

This video itself had me crying. I have two daughters, there is no way I would have been able not to sob like a baby.

Oswald Cobblespot, Amen brother! I'm sitting here crying like a baby over a stranger on UA-cam. I'd be a hot mess if It was my child.
Yeah...I'm tearing up just thinking about it.
It was the amazing moment for the beautiful young lady of her first time hearing from people.

This video shows me all the simple things we all have and take for granted.
God bless the people who help people hear. 👍🏻
Bless her little heart, can you imagine how that moment must feel to her.

Wait'll she hears music for the first time. She would've already been exposed to it through vibrations but the high frequency parts I'll bet rocked her world.
My deaf friend heard for the first time 4 years ago and he wanted to listen to music for the first time with me. I was so excited for him! He told me to choose a song and I chose The Nights by Avicii. It has been his favourite song ever since😊
Well, hello there, fellow human! bro good choice of music. some dumbass would have probably made him listen to 6ix9ine or some shit as his first song 🤦♂️
Nice thing to be tasked with! @@wellhelltherefellwhuman4637
@@yoshr02 😂 thanks! I'm a massive fan of EDM but most of my friends listen to trap and drill music which I find really annoying
