@@95netta in the description it says she started going deaf around the age of 21 and it slowly progressed. Being born able to hear allowed her normal speaking abilities and she most likely still spoke a bit throughout the years.
@@95netta Deaf doesn't mean ignorant. She's obviously speaks some English, not just SIgn-as she speaks English in the video. So, she knows what I love you means. It is very very likely she can read English as well. We can know this all from the video w/o even reading under it that she went deaf at 21.
@@Laura-kl7vi If she was deaf from birth she would have no idea how language sounds like. She could read and write in English, but everything would sound like gibberish. Even phonetic spelling would not help, because it relies of a person associating sounds to symbols. As description says she wasn't always deaf, that's why she has a fairly normal reaction to sounds and language.
The way she speaks is so stimulating and intriguing. She hasn't adapted to controlling the volume of her voice yet, it seems, so one word might be spoken normally and the next quietly whispered again. Without trying to read too much into this, it's at least interesting to think about what the differences in her volume tell us about language itself.
Huh. Never thought about this. Thanks! It's like one of those times when I wear a noise canceling headphones, and I can't seem to control my voice because I can't hear myself..
Theres some websites where you can have headphones play back your voice as youre speaking, but on a slight delay. For many people, it causes a severe stutter. Our brains kinda quality control the noises we produce, which is part of why profoundly deaf people tend to have speech changes as well.
If you read the description she said she found out she was hearing impaired at 21. Someone that is born completely deaf or was deaf from a young age, sounds entirely different.
Happens when you get hearing aids too, you talk too low thinking you’re talking loud, takes a while to find the right volume and then you forget they’re there.
Incredibly happy for you and your family. Seeing the joy in your face totally made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! May you continue to get better each and every day.

I think it’s amazing how she’s flinching because she’s never heard noise like that from that direction. And she’s whispering because her voice in her mind isn’t suppose to be that loud.
She lost her hearing at 21. Its just that she hasn't heard anything for a long time, and now first things she's hearing in so long are coming through an electric implant wired directly to her brain. It probably took awhile to get used to.
Awe that’s sweet, she regains the ability to hear and hears husband say I love you, and meanwhile, I regained my partial sight and when my doc took off my eye patch I took one look at my husband and said, “Damn, husband you got old!”.

Years ago, there was a story about an old couple. Before they went to sleep, the husband would always turn to face his wife and say "I Love You" every night before he falls asleep. He did it for over 50+ years. The old woman never thought about it and wonder why her husband would always say those words before they fell asleep. One day, she finally asked him "Honey, why do you always say I love you" to me before you sleep? The old husband said "that's because in case I never wake up from my sleep, that is the last word I wanted you to hear from me". Using this inspirational story, I wrote a love poem about it years ago.
That's a great story. I've been married for 41 years and those are the last words my wife and I say to each other before going to sleep. But the old man explained it better than I could.
The things we take for granted every day. Imagine having no hearing and being given the gift of hearing. That's got to feel absolutely amazing. Blessings!

There is a huge involuntary emotional response to hearing something for the first time that overwhelms people with deafness, this is so great to see and a reminder how much we take simple things for granted 👍
The reaction about that glasses arw all lies, some colorblind people do see better with that glasses but after a few hours so when you see someone puting that glasses and reacting is all fake
I really thought the technician was not the friendliest person to be doing this. It seems like all of these auditory technicians are like that. I don't get it. You'd think they were happy doing their jobs. Instead, they talk down to their clients.,
@@kristypolymath1359 You have to speak in a fairly flat tone or the variations will hurt the patient's sense of hearing. Remember, they are hearing for the first time and have the volume adjusted by the technician, and basic things are overwhelming.

Also deaf people able to read and write, and know what the word that they’re writing means.
@@iiiisssssaaaaaacccccc i think they meant "did that word mean anything before to her?" in a more profound and philosophical way rather than it's direct meaning. hope this helps

Love how even though it's like her first time hearing him, it's just INSTANT reaction of "I love you back".
Like it's her natural thing
How did she know how to say that if she was deaf?
As description says she wasn't always deaf, that's why she has a fairly normal reaction to sounds and language.
she was drop dead gorgeous. glad she got her hearing back. life without music to me would suck
Happens when you get hearing aids too, you talk too low thinking you’re talking loud, takes a while to find the right volume and then you forget they’re there.
that touched my heart!!
There's nothing more gratifying than seeing tears of joy. So happy her quality of life is improved.
