    Watching this on a big TV in 4K had me thinking of a line from Hot Shots... "what a pretty man." 😂

    I like the thumbnail for this video.
    Duncan Casey goes one way and Tom Cruise goes the other way.

    I've only seen the first MI and I liked it but haven't gotten around to the others for whatever reason. Once a franchise goes on as long as this it can be difficult to jump in I guess. Looking forward to your review of Indy. 🖖

    5:10 I certainly wish those sorts of reviews/comments would go do one as they feel like they come from a misanthropic, cynical [as those videos sadly get a lot of clicks] and mean [with personal attacks on creatives] place. Instead I'll raise my glass to Val Verde for having fun and giving us enjoyable content.

    Rogue Nation still the best one since M.I. 3 for me. Enjoyed this one though.

    I thought it was a massive disappointment from the previous movies, by making the bad guy what is was it gave them licence to make a cliché Mission Impossible movie with the formula of the last two, let those clichés happen so they can say it's all part of the plan, but you still have to sit through a cliché film that was signposted what was going to happen, it was weird. And their was something about the dialogue that was so stilted like they all talk in platitudes just felt off and inhuman, don't know if it was intentional or not giving the theme of the film. But I did like the car chase (but even that was done better in Tomorrow Never Dies with the cuffs and more awkward on a bike). So 3 out of 5.

      I hear you. I know what you mean. I still liked it, but there is a strong sense of..."familiarity" about it. Depends if you think that's a good thing or not I suppose.
      I don't know if you noticed it too, but there was a recurring sound in the mix that I think was supposed to signify something...significant.

    For me this one fell somewhere short of 4, 5 & 6 (and I actually rewatched 3 quite recently and think it's pretty underrated). But overall I thought Dead Reckoning was still a good film, it just didn't quite live up to the admittedly very high standards that this franchise has been achieving in recent years.

    1:55 He's an un-credited writer on 'Ghost Protocol'. Although sometimes uncredited he's got a writing/producing credit on pretty much all of Cruise's work post Valkyrie.
    Cruise used Robert Towne [Chinatown] in the same capacity on the first two Mission Films. Towne said for 2 he was given the set pieces and told to connect them so that is a standard for this series [and Hitchcock did that for 'North By North West' in fairness].

      @@josh72456 you’re welcome to confuse your subjectivity with objective fact, but all artistic endeavours are received through a “net” of subjective context. That’s inescapable I’m afraid. Why insist otherwise?

    • @josh72456
      @josh72456 Рік тому

      @ValVerdeBroadcasting I mean objectively it's well-made, but I mean I didn't even notice the nostalgic references at first not much but I can't help it when the obvious references are pointed out so I can't call that a masterpiece. I mean so people can trash Thor Love and Thunder I'm sure that may be a bad film but not sure what there is to expect from an MCU film but Top Gun Maverick is a masterpiece so it's a no no to criticise it. Again in my view both are ok. I mean good points the aerial sequences are well-made, Miles Teller does a good job in his performance and the Val Kilmer bits were interesting yet sad due to his own personal problems I did feel bad for him watching those scenes but the whole nostalgic elements I found derivative. I mean to me I find it a member berry film yet I don't trash The Flash for being a bad film which it probably is and man I don't recommend Indiana Jones and The Dial Of Destiny both deal with member berries badly.
      I can only say Top Gun Maverick is well-made in some places like with The Batman which I don't consider it a masterpiece either, Spider-Man No Way Home definitely a member berry film but I find it ok too like the other. Other films with fan service or member berries like Ghostbusters Afterlife it's ok but The Matrix Resurrections yeah very different story.
      However any one can enjoy any film but if I will be objective I will be objective about it Yes member berry and overrated are pejorative terms.
