Same here, originally from the Caribbean (Saint Lucia). I have Scottish, British, and Irish roots in my family on both sides, so I grew up listening to somd of it, but Highlander made me fall on love with it.
My mom and I loved Highlander❤️ My mom was born and raised in Glasgow,Scotland and some of the sences reminded her of home.I just wish I had got to go to Scotland and see those beautiful highlands for myself. RIP Mom😥😥 Luv and Miss you❤️
beautiful song by Enya. excellent movie highlander. I dedicate this song to the memory all the great heroes of history that are immortal for their people. as well as follow their example.
I have never loved a movie the way I love Highlander, movie and the series! And the voice and this song are extraordinary! There's also a live performance of Loreena's Bonnie Portmore, as powerful as this one. Wonderful voice, exceptional song.
I know the feeling, my father past away December 2014,and it was him that got me into the Highlander franchise, even the music of Queen that done the songs for the first Highlander movie
she nver really goes away Joshua and this are not just words is the truth, shes always with you and alwys will be, sometimes youll be able to percieve her.
I know my grandparents are Norwegian and Sweden but Anderson is from Scotland there music that just reaches you like something you know well from your past possibly a past life 🤗
Extremely mesmerizing voice and song. Been a fan of Lorena Mckennit since the 70's when she released 'The Mummers Dance'. Loved the show and movies of 'The Highlander' series so you went 3 for 3 with me with this post so thank you so very much, Will stay in my 'favorites' til my end of days.
The Name of the Song is Bonny Portmore. Its a requiem which laments the demise of Ireland's old oak forests, specifically the Great Oak of Portmore or the Portmore Ornament Tree, which fell in a windstorm in 1760 and was subsequently used for shipbuilding and other purposes.
Similar to this, one of the best Serbian poems is written as a requiem for forests that were used for building Venice... well, at least first part of that song.
Thank You!! Sorry I had a typo on Lisa Gerrard's name, but you and 54 others seem to agree with me that, when all else fails, just label the song as being sung by Enya! And I LIKE Enya...but if one was to give her credit for all the songs on UA-cam that have her listed...she'd dominate about 50% of this type of music!! lol! Thanks for backing me up!
I respect so much the irish history and the way the irish people had tried to keep peace while others were raging for war. They always had an honorable way to end even if that ment to go to war, not to conquer just to defend their land. I'm not from Ireland, I just wanted to let you know you have a great country. May God protect it !
For what it's worth, Loreena and Enya DID do a duet of Bonny Portmonte - this song. Eith version brings tears to my eyes every time I hear the blasted beautiful thing. Ian MacLeod

This song itself is a true relic from the days when the British dominanted on open seas.
I love this song and music. I wish someone would write the words and title for me. Beautiful is all I can say. I also loved the series as well as the movies. The concept was excellent.
Hi! I see some hungarian word on description (engiati zene klip a hegylakó 4 cimű filmből ati modban) of the videoclip. And i was thinking it will be kind if i thank you in that language. I appologize! So ... Thank you very much! (for uploading this video)
After Karen Carpenter, came Loreena and Enya, and the trifecta of perfection was reached. Highlander always had great sound tracks, such as Kansas: Dust in the Wind or Queen's: who wants to live forever? The Song of the Pooka from Endgame needs mentioning.
This song is called "Bonny Portmore". which is an Irish traditional folk song which details the centuries of Ireland's old oak forests, specifically The Great Oak of Portmore, being leveled for military and shipbuilding purposes.
I feel the the same way as Clifford does being a out cast never have fit in that's why for me I stay away from people and I get lonely at times but know that you don't fit in and watching the videos of Scotland makes me just want to get my back pack and wonder thru Scotland for a long time and see all the country side with all the old castles that are there I know part of my family came from the highlands which to me is really great and I have always been a wonder any way
I am really surprised by this song. I love Enya and even Loreena McKennitt. They´re like angles- so amazing, sonft voices. But this song is one of their best. I don´t know the movie, but i like the song and that is important :)
I have always loved this song as relatives on my mom’s side of the family I knew as a child that were of families from various parts of the British isles would sing this song and I have always loved the music and stories from the English isles
Got it now :) Every movie had some major defect if u look closer. In the series a gipsy girl foretold Duncan that: U will have many women, but marry none. He proposed to Tessa that episode, she died. Connor is changed drastically in H4. not the same character. Not to mention H2 :)) I try to see the movies as a reminder, some nostalgia... nothing like the series. If they sad something in one episode, that stayed the same all over. The movies, not so much :)
I am west indian and thanks to the tv show highlander I met and felt in love with celtic music..Bonny portmore is one of my favorite from Loreena

Não há palavras para expressar o talento dessas cantoras. As vozes de Enya e Lorena são como anjos que vieram nos transmitir paz, esperança!
Sabe que não são nem Loreena nem Enya nessa versão e sim as Celtic Womans?
I lost someone that I loved so much yesterday. I am tired. With this song I will feel uplifted.
