The fact that you feature some creators with MILLIONS of subs but I’ve still never heard of them, literally is comforting. It goes to show that you can be successful in this business without having to be a household name or a traditional celebrity. Very cool!
Something I noticed about Ashley’s channels soon after I started watching was her sponsorships fit so perfectly into her lifestyle/ personality. And they were brands I hadn’t heard of before! I really appreciated that and it’s like I can trust her recommendations because it’s not just a cash grab
I have the pleasure of knowing Ashely in the real world. She is one of the nicest people I have ever met so cool to see you guys interview her! She did great
love that you’re interviewing ashley. her channel is interesting to me because she is very wholesome and kind, but still has interesting experiences. and i feel like youtube (for a limited time) was really into big spectacles and being controversial. but the tanas and mr beasts aren’t the quintessential representations of youtube.
this is so true. there's a certain level of intimacy that she shares with her viewers with her camera work and the narrative and conversations. it's just like hey I'm watching my friend do this thing and experience this thing. and that's where she translates her authenticity as a person to the camera to the viewer.
as someone who has watched ashley for 3 or 4 years now, this is the first time i've seen her talk so much about the business perspective of youtube. super insightful + helpful interview :)) also ashley, the fact that you help financially support your family is so very slay of you 😚
from finding ashley on the most random day in 2018 to her becoming my favourite content creator i feel like it’s so apparent how genuine she is and how hard she works. this video was so awesome !!!!!!!
Ashley has definitely laid herself as an inspiration. She's such an example to follow. Pure and wholesome. Never change Ashley unless it's for the better
So happy to see Ashley here!! The way she fosters her community is really neat. I've watched her videos for probably close to 3 years now, and the way she includes her siblings Amber and Andrew really engages the audience as a part of the family. In 2020 when she did twitch streams it was so fun to watch those and be a part of those. Her and Amber both heart and respond to a lot of comments on their videos still despite their success so that creates an even tighter knit community. I love following her because she's adorable and so kind, but I also love it because I feel involved.
I absolutely love this side of Ashley. I have watched her since the beginning and I am so proud to see this side of her and what a power woman she has become. GIRLBOSS GET IT ASHULEYYY
Even though life style vloggers have oversaturated the youtube community already, I've always liked ashley. You can feel she's genuine and just enjoy what she does. Her and her family is also so funny and homey. I will support ashley because she always seemed sweet and genuine.
When they started discussing numbers, even more respect! I love seeing UA-camrs really talk about that bc it shows their business knowledge (not that they’re not smart even when the camera is off). But I think it enhances what Kelly and Ashley say about each other about “meeting someone who’s just as serious about work as I am” and emphasizes that it’s a job.
I remember when I watched that video of Ashley crying because of the comments about her bangs. I loved how she showed and expressed her raw emotions, it was so unfiltered, real and relatable. Which is something you don’t see too often in vlogs.
I don’t really watch vlogs but I genuinely like Ashley, and this interview made me like her even more. I love how transparent she was and she seems so sincere🥺
It's so cool and nice how she mentioned that she watched her own videos for inspiration because that is such a good advice. Sometimes we are too busy comparing ourselves with others that we forget that we also do such an amazing things!! I watched Ashley few years back and seeing her grown not only as a creator but also as an incredible person makes me so happy :)
Great interview! You guys ask such good questions and really listen and invite sharing without being invasive. I’ve gained so much respect for Ashley and how much planning, strategy, learning, and effort go into her work, not to mention how she supports her family with her success. She is definitely an underestimated girl boss.
If you’re a content creator this channel should be on your vision board to be featured on. Colin and Samir do such a great job at making an interview feel like a natural conversation
Love that you shared actual money amounts in this video, it’s such a taboo subject and it’s so helpful to hear people talk about it and allow us to learn a little more about the business. Thank you for this amazing interview ❤
In regards to when she was crying…. Not only will some of us stop filming, but to be able to look at back at the footage and be brave enough to add it to the timeline and publish it. It takes a lot. I recently posted a video where it shows my vulnerability as a Dad and I cried, but that me and I shared it. I’m really liking this video a lot especially cause I’m a lifestyle channel. Thanks.
That’s just simply not true; maybe when she started but these days her solo vids easily get 300-400k views… that’s a lot … for that many views she can easily attract brands for an integrated brand advertisement in one of her lifestyle vlogs, and charge between 20-100$ per 1000 views… which comes out to 6,000$-30,000$ per brand sponsorship in one of her UA-cam videos. Lifestyle brands that sell either workout apparel or supplements, or fashion brands that sell clothing, get direct exposure to 100’s of thousands of people (mostly a younger female audience, likely in their late teens or twenties) who specifically are interested in working out and fashion etc, so it’s a very valuable marketing tool for brands that fit into her style of content. You’d be amazed at how much some of these content creators get paid for a single ad in their videos, channels that get millions of views per video are charging / making $100k-250k per integrated brand advertisement deal!
awww i remember being introduced to ashley from the vans video & the glow-up video! her videos with her siblings were the best. so proud of how far she’s come!
Bro the fact the she shares almost everything with us and that we can watch her consistent videos is why I think that she deserves much more hype. SHE is alsoo very nice and sweeet with her fans and on her videos. Respect and keep the griiinddd ashley
I remember watching that vlog where Ashley was crying and it def wasn't just about the bangs themselves. She said that some people were saying she looked too Asian now and she said something along the lines of, "I don't know what to do, and I *am* Asian." And then in a later vid she got her hair dyed again, this time a bit blonder, and most people raved about it. How she was treated was gross smh
It's great to see different corners of the UA-cam space come together and have a chat! I love watching these interviews, it's like watching friendships develop firsthand and genuine appreciation of each other's craft be celebrated! Dope stuff my guys! 👌🏾
I was introduced to Ashley and the ur mom’s house crew through Kelly last year, it’s awesome to see how you guys have been giving them some coverage and videos lately. Awesome podcast guys, great work once again!
Need a sidemen video asap. They’ve managed to survive being in a content house and have completely leveled up recently in the quality of their videos, and they are now almost ten years in!
Whatever hairstyle she does suits her. Her confidently cutting her bangs shows she has no insecurities unlike those who criticized her for it who probably play it “safe” when it comes to styling their hair.
Helping her dad work less and she is paying tuition for her sister, whole new level of RESPECT here. She doesn’t mention her other female roommate, was the topic of Annmarie now allowed for the interview? If you have an LLC don’t you have to file taxes even if there is zero income? A joint LLC with a boyfriend? Well they seem to know what they are doing…
the fact that people are becoming creators to pay off their student loans 😭 but also very proud of ashley for paying off her own and her siblings education ❤
if there’s someone who deserves every bit of success, whatever that means, it is Ashley. i have followed her journey since the beginning, when she used to make vids in her childhood home’s kitchen or in her little room and seeing her grow and reach so many people has truly been a joy to witness. Go Ash!!!
just watched kelly's japan vlog and he and ashley mentioned that they are in japan to work on ashley's matcha meaning she may be coming out with a matcha product soon!! So cool to see how she's had this idea for a long time and its now coming to life just a year later. Ashley seems like such a nice person and is rly just so inspiring. Ashley with her matcha is also giving emma chamberlain with her obsession with coffee - it was something she loved so much and now she has a whole coffee brand.
So glad you interviewed Ashley! I've been hoping to watch more podcasts of her. Loved hearing the business side of youtube and how she supports her family.
I was only gonna watch a few minutes and I end up watching the whole thing. Ashley is so sweet and smart ❤. That was a great interview, congratulations Colin and Samir.
they hit so many points I was curious about like kashley as a business and what they learnt from ur moms house and how they’re applying to the new house. I really hope Kashley watch out and either have a middle man or something to figure all the important things our before they jump headfirst into business side of things lol
I definitely watch all the ads for colin & samir. I love all of your videos!! there's always something to learn at the end of it. more power! :) eta: ashley is so smart and articulate. she really knows what she is doing.
I remember when I first watched that video when she cried during her glow up. And I felt that so much. That’s what made me stick around to see more food and lifestyle vids ❤
I respect that she stood up for herself and sought after what she deserves! It's important because she has followers that are watching and being inspired by her.
I'd love to see you guys explore some other genres of UA-cam, there are a ton of educational and animated creators who probably bring unique perspectives to what makes their kind of content successful. Of course if they want to be interviewed or featured of course
Clap hands for Ashley hands everyone please stand up give a round of applause. This is the best role model of what a UA-camr should be. Ashley ability to be transparent about how much she makes is a very respectable thing to be able to generate. I've been a fan of Ashley for not a long time maybe 9 months or 10. From the knowledge I've acquired as a sociology/ psychology student. I can see Ashley is the definition of a honest person. meaning everything she does, represents says is 100% true. And this is a quality which is nearly impossible to find in a person. I remember watching a video and Ashley says "she cries alot". And that's because 100% of the time she displays says and does the things that A. Come from the heart B. Really really works hard on C. Normally believes it's socially/ morally acceptable. It all comes from a positive place. So going back to the crying. She cries because her heart has been broken cause for whatever reason people always have something negative to say no matter how innocent/good her action might be. My first impression of Ashley was ahhh just another white girl "don't judge a book by its cover" but she's way more than that I can talk about her forever. Lemme just end with there is so much depth in Ashley. But it's super easy sadly for the world 2 judge based on what you see. In all am just so glad to have realised this is my Favourite UA-cam female channel. I go on forever but you don't wanna read all that noise. PS Ashley if you ever read this keep doing you. Mad respect keep representing the real.
please interview jenn im next!! her business journey is so so interesting with her clothing brand eggie, and her transition from lifestyle to mother content
They actually do; they made a video awhile ago about an art youtuber that was in a multitude of controversies. They did not even mention it, the entire comment section is full of people mentioning the controversy
Finding that balance between making what you like to make & what your audience wants to see isn't for the weak LOL Ashley is goated for that, awesome interview guys!!!
Love the interview! I had zero idea who she was, but now I know why; it feels like Ashley is still in her growing phase as a creator. Which is crazy, cause she is so large and gets such huge brand deals. I watched some of her videos and her channel seems less synthetic than other lifestyle creators. Most vloggers lose their authenticity the richer they get, but I don't get that feeling from the ur mom ashley channel. 13:30 Samir put it in a nice way, but yeah, she's getting robbed with 20%. Especially since her largest deals are done through UA-cam's in-house program. Unless that manager is helping with running other parts of her business (e.g. merch that she doesn't have), I think Ashley should get more out of it. MoistCr1TiKaL talked about this issue a lot. The funnel analogy is amazing here. 25:20 I love her awareness here. Makes me feel like Ashley has a lot of staying power. Pokimane is usually labelled as a "ruthless business woman" in her sphere of influence, because she was pretty transparent with her side-ventures. As result, she had quite the negative reception towards her from incels and other women in the space. All because she was not relatable with her success. Only when the covid content boom happened, other creators (and by extension their fans) respected that financial hustle, and now Poki gets less hate because of it. 36:27 It seemed like the house was meant to be a Kelly&Elliot venture, while using Ashley's "Ur Mom" branding. Like the house was literally named "Ur Mom's House"... I'm glad she was able to prevent being robbed in that sense. Now, she is dating and going into business with her boyfriend, but as person who watched UA-cam creators rise and fall since 2007, I've since learned that large couple creators are not long lasting (CTFxC, PrankvsPrank, and EatYourKimchi/Simon and Martina just to name a few). I wish her luck navigating the business preventing all that. Get that prenup signed!
It's interesting to see them go into this category of creator. I think I can tell that this creator was pitched to them by their producer. I think its interviews like this with people outside Colin and Samir's interest that will be important to their channel having the right breadth.
Loved this interview. Super insightful and love how grounded Ashley is. She’s one of my favorite content creators. It’s amazing to see with all the hard work she put in that she’s able to help her family, make smart financial decisions and be independent.
She's my favourite youtuber along with Emma, she's how I wanna be as a content creator on here!!! Like she inspires my content so so much but of course I can't have the same opportunities cos i don't live in the city!
This really inspires me! To hear a other content creator talk about when it started, how it blow up, it makes me want to be a content creator cause one day I know I will be one!
I remember the glow up vlog where she got the bangs, bc I thought it looked soo pretty and it's actually the reason I got curtain bangs (eventhough I was traumatized by my ugly bangs from when I was 13 lol).
As someone who has ran creator campaigns for a brand for a decade, it was interesting to hear POV’s on market value, brand connect and partnering with brands. Lots of thoughts and could say a lot about it.
15:44 this is so interesting I am also experiencing the same. Brands deals give me constraints and I'm usually super creative with a few constraints and helps me push out more content
I totally agree with her on not starting UA-cam with vlogging, I did... It is hard and no one knows you. Overtime that will change, but it is a lil tougher.
love this interview and love seeing an interview with a female lifestyle creator on your channel! 🤩 would be AMAZING if you can get more female content creators (e.g. Jenn Im, Lavendaire, Michelle Choi, Monica Church, Shelby Church)
I love Ashley so much, and she's been my favorite youtuber for years, I love this interview. 💗 Now I also like Colin and Samir, they are such good interviewers.
PODSQUAD! This is sooo cool that you got Ashley on here. Please Please Please do an episode with Kelly Wakasa next so we can hear his perspective of being a UA-camr. Also, there are some audio issues in the spotify episode. Like 2 audio tracks playing at the same time with different conversations. Love this episode!
so honored to be featured!! thanks again Colin & Samir 💫❤️
Love that you talked about business :)
This was great video 🥰 definitely make a matcha brand!!!

Ashely is such a sweet and kind young lady. It's incredible that she helps out her family, it's so admirable. She's beautiful inside and out.
her identity heavily relies on her relationships, from the family vids to kashley vids. it’s a double edged sword
yeah her solo videos don't gain that much attraction compared to the family videos
That's what David Dobrik used to do as well
That’s just simply not true; maybe when she started but these days her solo vids easily get 300-400k views… that’s a lot … for that many views she can easily attract brands for an integrated brand advertisement in one of her lifestyle vlogs, and charge between 20-100$ per 1000 views… which comes out to 6,000$-30,000$ per brand sponsorship in one of her UA-cam videos.
Great analysis
It's interesting to see them go into this category of creator. I think I can tell that this creator was pitched to them by their producer. I think its interviews like this with people outside Colin and Samir's interest that will be important to their channel having the right breadth.
I respect Ashley even more 😍 knowing this part of what she's doing....and she's so honest ❤️
Loved this interview. Super insightful and love how grounded Ashley is. She’s one of my favorite content creators. It’s amazing to see with all the hard work she put in that she’s able to help her family, make smart financial decisions and be independent.
I found Ashley and all of Ur Moms House through you guys! Now I love all their videos!
She's my favourite youtuber along with Emma, she's how I wanna be as a content creator on here!!! Like she inspires my content so so much but of course I can't have the same opportunities cos i don't live in the city!
This really inspires me! To hear a other content creator talk about when it started, how it blow up, it makes me want to be a content creator cause one day I know I will be one!
ashley’s the best 🫶🏻🫶🏻
I remember the glow up vlog where she got the bangs, bc I thought it looked soo pretty and it's actually the reason I got curtain bangs (eventhough I was traumatized by my ugly bangs from when I was 13 lol).
Ashley is such an inspiration! Love all the on point topics that was discussed. 👏
As someone who has ran creator campaigns for a brand for a decade, it was interesting to hear POV’s on market value, brand connect and partnering with brands. Lots of thoughts and could say a lot about it.
i've been watching her videos for quite some time and i am so happy to see her continue to kill it!!!
Jenn Im, Lavendaire, Michelle Choi, Monica Church, Shelby Church)
this is such a realistic and raw viewpoint of being a creator! wonderful vid!
Colin and Samir continue to hold the spot for my #1 podcast/show and UA-cam channel period
This was so awesome! Didn’t know Ashley before and definitely fanningn
I love Ashley so much, and she's been my favorite youtuber for years, I love this interview. 💗 Now I also like Colin and Samir, they are such good interviewers.
10/10 interview
I’ve been watching Ashley for over 5 years now and it’s insane to see how much her channel has grown. She deserves the success!
I love her confidence while still being humble and down to earth!
PODSQUAD! This is sooo cool that you got Ashley on here. Please Please Please do an episode with Kelly Wakasa next so we can hear his perspective of being a UA-camr. Also, there are some audio issues in the spotify episode. Like 2 audio tracks playing at the same time with different conversations. Love this episode!
the transparency is so good omg
