your mom describing her two girls as courageous and brave and the boy sibling as soft and loving is really beautiful and telling of their parenting style 🥹 allowing y’all to kind of break those stereotypes 😭 very very cute
Shoutout to Mama Alexander for breaking that cycle of traditional Asian parenting and showing your kids unconditional love and support 💕 Sounds very much like the household I grew up in and it warms my heart to know that you were able to create such a warm and loving environment. Big hug and sending you love!
Possibly my favorite episode so far! Your mom is so kindhearted and a great speaker for the pod. You have to bring her back! Would love to hear more about your moms upbringing, how she met ur dad, what she thinks of kelly & Pono!
Mothers are a blessing. Like the roots of a mighty tree, their silent strength and nurturing love support and shape us. In life's darkest moments, it is their wisdom and care that guide us back to our true path. Recognize this profound power, for in honoring mothers, we honor the foundation of our existence.
I cried watching this although she said she wasn’t a perfect mother to me she sounds like everything I could’ve wished for in a mother and I hope to be a mother like that one day. You guys have a beautiful bond and family ❤
15:50 That's true. Most Asian parents don't say I love you to their kids and they're also not complimentary at all. I grow up in an Asian household but most compliments I get was from other people outside my house. I'm glad your mom brought up this issue and changes the environment for you guys ❤
I agree. I grew up in a mixed cultural household and my dad is so much alike like Ashley and Ambers mom. The way my aunts are with my cousins on my dads side is so sad because it’s tough love but it shouldn’t always be expressed like that because it gets distorted as you grow up🙁
the "positive affirmations in childhood" talk, is so real. my parents didn't believe in me, i lived with a single mother and she was always like "you you won't ever get anywhere in life" so i didn't really believe in myself and i ended up not listening in school and ruin my grades as a child. the love you get from your parents is so important..
This video is sooo wholesome. Watching you guys have fun with your mom, talking about your childhood, all those beautiful memories, your mom experience raising three kids, kind of heal a bit of childhood trauma in me. Please bring dad alexander next
Your mom is so well spoken and charismatic 🥺 the way she spoke about wanting to break generational values so you guys can feel loved and cared for like any child should warmed my heart. My dad was the same way and sort of distanced himself from his parents because the toxic standards and expectations they kept throwing at him especially being the oldest was too much for him and also dating outside of Asian culture was another. Cheers to your mom because she’s the best 🥺💖
this was so wholesome!! also Ashley saying she has something to announce when they were talking about babies was so funny and relatable as a fellow 24 year old lol
I have seen your mom before but never seen her at a close range like this, i must say she looks like your sister, so beautiful ❤ also look young. She is such a queen 👸
I kept on tearing up throughout the episode bc the conversation was just so sweet and sentimental and loving 🥲 especially when everyone was talking about what they love about andrew. yall got me wondering when my 24 yr old self became so soft lmao
maybe it is a total coincidence but this video made me realize that Birth Order stereotypes are just SO TRUE; I'm the 3rd daughter of 4 and always felt super similar to Amber (being the super easy to raise and chill middle child). My older sisters were super active and opportunistic growing up, always getting in trouble. and one word i would describe my youngest sister is SPICY!!!! I would be interested to hear more about Amber's feelings about being a middle child; I've been unpacking how being seen as "easy" to raise and "chill" actually has impacted me negatively a little. Feeling like i must keep the peace, not take up my parents attention if its not needed, and do things independently. Still have a great relationship with my family tho!
Yeah, I'm definitely seeing this dynamic in many families. I think future parents should definitely watch out for this and try to nip it in the bud and definitely endeavor to pour into all children equally.
I am also the 3rd of 4 siblings. I also grew up being the easy, go with the flow and 'independent' child. Now i'm a people pleaser and wish i was not so conscious of people's opinions of me. I also have a great relationship with my family.
absolutely loved this pod💗🙌it's so refreshing seeing a healthy mother daughter dynamic. we NEED an ep with your dad to complete the family episodes!! LMAO quick edit ashley giggling after saying "what if they bite you too hard?" IS KILLING ME 8:54
It’s so wild to hear your mom have her own perception on how she could have been better, while you guys think everything was perfect! I bet these moments really give her relief and reassurance that she’s so great! 🥹
Absolutely adore your Mum/Mom! She always comes across so kind, caring and really sweet. It's beautiful to see how much she loves you both, plus seeing the way you love her too and always speaking so lovingly about one another is so heartwarming! Much love to you all! 💜💫
I’m from a more similar background with your mom but around Ashley and Amber’s age and seeing how she has such healthy relationships that enabled her children to grow so vibrantly in their own way makes me see my future brightly and that a nice dynamic is possible for the next generation of m my family :)
i'm literally horrified to become a parent if ever i go down that route but your mom is such a huge inspiration on how i would personally want to parent my child. Giving opportunities to your own children, especially ones that you didn't personally get the chance to experience, is really how I would have wanted to raise my kids too! It was seriously awesome listening to you guys!
2024 3 beautiful women that have been brought well. Healthy minds healthy bodies. Having mum centred between her daughters was ideal. The maturity is distinctive. Mum would politely summarise here and there which made the Podcast extremely interesting. Many thanks ❤...😊
I would love to see your dad on the podcast!!! This was so so fun!!! :))) love the way you interact with your mom and everything you can feel the love through the screen :)
Wow your mother is amazing!!! My mom was 20 when she had me she had came to the U.S very recently and was on her own with a child, it makes me think now as a 20yr old that i should really wait for children. Your mother was prepared and was a very mature adult breaking generational traumas and that's very inspiring to me, to not have someone around who gives that example i doubt i can do that but she's a great example that it can be done
20:21 I’m literally crying with tears streaming down my face the more I watch this 😢 AND YES NO MOM IS PERFECT! Hearing this part reminded me of that one viral video where a young mom is showing herself eating something that’s supposedly “bad” and giving it to her kid for dinner and then saying she’s a bad mom bc of it but then the kid says “no, you’re a good mom! Say it!” Anywaysss time to continue to sobfest
I think it's so crazy how we grew up under the same great musical influence from our parents around the same time and got stuck with it (for example Amber also liking The Cure!!), except for being thousands of miles apart. They really know some gems, so I'm really interested about your Dad talking about his taste in music! Your mom seems like such a kind and loving soul, you really are besties 🥹🫶 Greetings from a middle child from Germany 🙌
as a 23 year old mom with a 3 year old, this is such good info and inspiring to be the best parent I can be for my kid knowing that good parenting does wonders ps. I have a taurus son HAHAHAHA and they're kinda crazy but the funny kind
this ep better be around within the next 10 yrs!! omg im 20 and although im no where near ready to have children, i know that this will be helpful to new parents (esp to future me) :D mama alexander you are THE BEST
I have 100% have always said that if I had a kid I would make it my entire life!!! I’d tell it that I loved it, it was beautiful, brave and strong”, every five minutes, every hour, everyday. Like there is way I wouldn’t NOT do that if I had a kid. Humans need love. A lot of the madness and sadness is from our needs not getting met and not getting a lot of love. I don’t meet a lot of people like think like I do, or like how their mom thinks. This is normal for me and seeing how her kids turned out may have convinced me to have kids. I don’t want to have any… but I’ve always said I’d love it endlessly if I did
your mom describing her two girls as courageous and brave and the boy sibling as soft and loving is really beautiful and telling of their parenting style 🥹 allowing y’all to kind of break those stereotypes 😭 very very cute
Yes!!! 100%🥹❤️
You gotta have your Dad on next!
Agree!!!!
💞 YES! 🦄💜
Super agree 😂
Yess!

seeing them side by side, Amber just looks like an exact 1:1 ratio of her mom and dad 🤣
Visualizing Andrew going from on his belly to running has me in tears 😂
Shoutout to Mama Alexander for breaking that cycle of traditional Asian parenting and showing your kids unconditional love and support 💕 Sounds very much like the household I grew up in and it warms my heart to know that you were able to create such a warm and loving environment.
