Yea been building engines for 10 years for a company. Picked up doing transmissions bout 8 years ago n been getting busier every year. Alot more to transmissions than engines lol
You may have noticed this,, but Something I just noticed, when dealing with the center support. The 4l80e had different styles. The early center support piston was thicker than the late model.
Hello friend, I saw your video and I would like to get a question right, I took my th400 transmission to be repaired but it did not make the third change, I already changed the governor, modular, converter, and it continues the same, now to your great experience what will be the problem for which Does the third change not make the transmission? please help
@mountains garage Hey love the videos ,I’m venturing into building my own 400 thanks to ur videos..I’m looking into the atd aluminum valve body with trans brake with 1st and 2nd gear leave. I have a 4l80e drum with the 34 element sprag When u speak of doing the clutches In This pack (the 6 clutches) are those stock size 4l80 size clutches? Are u using the power pack clutch kit plus more clutches to achieve ur 6 clutches?I see u have to cut some off the aluminum piston.I’m just stuck on what clutches to order for my build..I also have the 400 smooth drum that will accept a 34 element sprag also.I’m stuck on which to use...
I just broke the drill it in the drum🤦🏻♂️..I can’t get it out.can I rig weld the hole shut from the back where the sprag goes and make a new hole?or is this drum junk🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Great content. Looking into building a 4x4 turbo 400 with trans brake for a turbo truck. Do you happen to have any write ups on forums or anywhere. Videos are great but it’d be awesome to have something with parts lists and whatnot
Shawn, I keep coming back to this video. I started my build on the 400 and this helps. If I could like your video again and again I would. Thanks
Glad you found it helpful, you made my day!
Enjoy your videos as a younger guy learning thanks for taking the time sharing your knowledge.
Same here, self taught/teaching for me and this man's videos are amazing. I'm close to speechless about it

Huge WWII aircraft fan more especially B-17! Thanks for sharing and for the TH400 tutorials on Max clutching a race trans.
That thumbnail has all the good magic words that get me going
A B-17 at treetop is F-N awesome. I love that stuff as well.
Sean we all know your s*** on the th and 4L 80e rebuilding stuff but can you give us any good tips on growing the excellent mustache
@@scotthill4293 That is easy, the older you get hair stops growing where you want it and takes root everywhere else!

Thanks Shawn , you are a wise man . Thanks for sharing .
I watched the same B17 in the early fall of 2020 while fishing in NY , it crashed a few days later
10:45 did you miss speak on the nomenclature? You said 4L75. Did you mean 3l75? Or late 700R4?
@@pmotorsports8276 TH475, just made a mistake.
I know this video is old but are those Allison Clutches you are using? They look like a semi-metallic brake pads with the metal flakes in them.

Whats the thickness of the frictions and steels you are using
Shawn, where are you getting the steels from. 76-77's
From my local transmission shop, I buy boxes of 100 or more.
@@mountainsgarage What's your thoughts on Kolenes?
Hay Shawn, did you have a part number for the 4L80e drum you used, stay safe.......Brett
I have bought a bunch on eBay for $89.99
@@mountainsgarage trying to avoid the wrong one....do you have a link cheers
👍
You can’t use the 4l80e without doing cuts correct
To the piston?
