I need help. I have a family member’s 1980 GMC C15, ingot the engine running good, but I don’t have a shift linkage (from the steering column to the transmission) or a transmission fluid dipstick. The transmission is a TH400, do you know if I can purchase these parts new, or do I just have to keep looking in junkyards and on marketplace?

Be careful as to what kind of test fluid you use in that machine, I had to replace the trough under the graduated cylinders after just a few uses. I bought testing fluid from Doctor Injector, no smell to it. I bought cleaning solution from Injector Therapy for the cleaning tank. You mix10 parts water to 1 part cleaner. You can get the orings , filter baskets, and caps for Doctor Injector. I use a sheet metal screw to pull the baskets out. I spray WD 40 into injectors after cleaning and blow air through them while pulsing them. Store in zip lock bags.

Lets improve on what hydramatic engineers. Did not know.

One thing i wish is that these units gave actual flow rates. I think they should have had a setting where it locks injector open for 15 seconds so you could just take that and times it by 4 to get your actual flow rate. I was thinking of building a ppwer source to do this, but i dont want to damage the injectors. I know flow rate can also very depending on trsting fluid and psi, but as long as i could gauge something i would be happy.

I just had a surprise leak on my TH 400 on the 1989 project truck I bought. It was coming through the pinhole in the yoke. I found out by pulling the driveshaft and cleaning it up. Someone had put silicone inside where the splines are. I'm guessing my fix will be a new o-ring inside the tail housing-cup. I still have to remove the housing, but thanks to your video I know what to look for. Thank you!

Is the same dipstick used for shallow and deep pan? Or they are different?

I just recently purchased a 1995 chev G30 with the rare 454. Everything is shifting normal but I do get a higher fluid sound when putting it in drive or reverse. I'm not sure if it means the trans is slowly going bad or if it just a normal thing

Wow, looks like I am the first to comment. That’s a first for me. Based on your experience (mess) I swapped my carb cleaner dip bucket over to a plastic bucket the other day. Only problem I have is the basket won’t go to the bottoms of the plastic bucket (5 gallon plastic buckets are tapered in order to be stackable). Now I am looking for a plastic strainer that will fit the new bucket to use as a dip basket.

How you doing buddy? Try to watch all your videos on the 400 when it comes to the pump stater bushing in your video. What is the part number on the tool to remove those bushings?

Who makes a 36 element sprag race for th400-4l80 I know they have the 2 different types c6-4r100 and stock style?

I would fill the ulttasonic bath a little further. Ive also used techron injector cleaner in the bath and submerge them sideways with connector pointing up and have had good results in freeing stuck injectors. Who told you to use mineral spirits for flowing? According to my autool manual they recomended 90+ alchol or testing fluid.

Check the resistance on the bad injector and let us know.

Ive been had the 6cyl cleaner/tester for 3yrs and havent taken it out the box yet, need to organize the shop and make a hole for it. Also bought the (i think) 5 liter sonic cleaner for slightly bigger carb parts sitting on top of it
