    I assemble these in Ohio. We make 500 accords per shift on line 2. We only make about 60 manuals every other day. Hopefully people keep buying them.

      swr Nismo dam every shift.. that's insane. But what's even more insane id's so littlemanuals.. it's going to be rare like the 6 speed accord coupes.. I'm keeping my 2012 6x6 for a couple of years.. maybe forever

    • @AkioWasRight
      @AkioWasRight 6 років тому +8

      Then buy the manuals. Manufacturers are at the point of bending over backwards to offer them. They won't last much longer with car enthusiast's youtube cries alone.

    • @harrismi7
      @harrismi7 6 років тому +1

      My current car is a manual, a 2016 MX5 and two cars before I had a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that was also a manual. I took a hit on the 2015 Volvo that I had in between them to get rid of that automatic car, I hated driving it.

    • @Tigerex966
      @Tigerex966 6 років тому +3

      they cant because they are not available in the trims people want, only the lowed in most cases, with a few exceptions, well almost none, if available at all.
      We want to but cannot, it was a self fulfilling prophecy, people are not buying them they would say right after they eliminated it in the model they were buying same with coupes.
      Honda sold 20,000 -40,000 or so accord coupes each year, and that is only 10% of accord sales but still quite good, that was considered a non seller by Honda account so they just discontinued it and say, nobody was buying it, as if 20,000-40,000 is no body.

    • @Lamar-zx5tp
      @Lamar-zx5tp 6 років тому

      Bah, you keep talking about them, but people aren't buying them. You'd think everyone on UA-cam drives and buys manual transmission, but barely anyone buys them in reality. It's just like station wagons, diesel passenger cars and EVs. The share of the market that is loved by the youtube puffers is very tiny.

    • @Tigerex966
      @Tigerex966 6 років тому +2

      Which ones are bending over backwards?
      I can only think of two and the Hondas usually sell pretty well.
      I think only Mazda and Honda are offering them in their midsize sedans, after their coupes were discontinued.
      And there are no midsize fwd family sedan derived coupes to be found that I know of, so it's 4 doors are an suv or crossover and an automatic.
      I think Honda would not have so many accords on the lot, if you could get other trims in manual, (say 5%) and of course the coupe that sold between 10-20% of the total.
      What's really hurting Honda is a large number of people will not touch a CVT, no matter how good with a ten foot pole, and many of them dont want a manual either, so they keep their old Honda or shop elsewhere, and there is plenty of good competition with good automatics.
      I guess offerring them in the one , usually the, lowest trim level is bending over backwards?
      It's like they are saying, take the worst and be happy you got anything mentality, and dont complain, shut up, or we will take that one away also.
      But I am glad Honda makes really good manuals, at a really good price and at least have one trim with it that is available for us who love them, and mazda too.
      Mazda needs to move the manual trim level up a notch or two and add it to the 2,5 liter ASAP, they could easily become the best driving and sportiest midsize sedan with the new 2.5 turbo and a great 6 or 7 speed manual, rev matching, handbrake, upgraded suspension and exhaust note.
      Until than Accord reigns supreme among manual fwd midsized/large sedans. Zoom Zoom.

    Good on Honda for not only offering manuals in their vehicles, but offering GOOD manuals. They could easily just throw a lousy stick in there and enthusiasts would just be glad that it's available at all. The fact that they put time into engineering them even though they know the take rate will be low is admirable, and shows they care about their vehicles. Looks like this new accord is a quality product, if only we could get a new S2K :)

The reason the car feels peppy and gets good mileage is because it’s lighter than a E36 M3. Kind of blew my mind when I realized it was 3100 lbs and the size of a proper tank. 🤔

    I have a 2018 1.5t with the cvt though. It has a pretty good amount of torque down low and it’s really satisfying. It’s not the fastest when you first get off the line, but it’s really good at passing at freeway speeds. I also appreciate that the cvt simulates gear shifts a lot and it’s not as buzzy as some other cvts out there, so I don’t really have an issues with it.

    I wish more people would see the new Accord in person or test drive it before immediately saying they don't like it because of the styling or the lack of the V6. I'm a fan of Honda's, so of course my opinion of it is pretty good, but the car seems to have so much potential. I drive a '98 Accord EX V6, so I agree with some people's opinions that Honda has lost some of its ways, but I will say that the 2018 Accord is certainly worth a chance.

      Better reliability, sound, real world performance is what the V6 brought to the table, I'm sure their new turbo engine is going to be solid
      but still sad to see the v6 engine leave this segment.

      rockn roll I thought turbo fuel efficiency was basically a lie? The moment the turbo kicks in all your fuel economy is booted out of the equation. The only way to actually have peak fuel economy on a turbocharged car is to never trigger the boost, which is retarded.
      Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure this is how it works.

    • @BigHeadClan

      Thot Slayer - In low power applications a turbo-4 can be pretty efficient as long as it's tuned correctly, it's when you start trying push those smaller motors in medium/high power applications that kill the efficiency.
      The fact a lot of manufactures use small turbos that spool up really early in the RPM range also seriously hurt their fuel economy, as you said it keeps the car always in boost.

    • @OsojiNosferatu69
      @OsojiNosferatu69 6 років тому

      Thot Slayer I’ve never heard of that happening. I don’t think triggering boost impacts fuel economy as long as it’s done with everyday commute acceleration in mind. Then again, I could be wrong, but I tried it out over the course of two weeks of city driving in my 2011 2.0T Sonata. EPA says I should get 22 city, and with regular acceleration in mind, that’s exactly what it got (I think it was 22-23.) But when I accelerated more harshly I saw a 3-4 MPG drop.

    The Accord has always been an above average handling car and it's performance, even with smaller then average engine size has always been great. I had
    an 01 Accord coupe (which my son now has) that even by today's standards handles really well.
    I have noticed that Honda manual transmission cars perform a LOT better then any of their cars with their automatic transmissions and especially better then the horrible CVT.
    I am always amazed at the performance of these small turbo charged engines. The
    only thing I'd like to see is how well they hold up if one intends to drive them 150K - 200K miles.
    Most cars will make it to around 50 - 75K, but I'd like to see one with 150K on it and see
    how much service was required to get it there. My old Accord has over 170K on it now and is
    still running great. It has had no engine problems and very few problems in other areas.
    Everything still works, from the cruise control to the sun roof.

      For Enthusiasts Reviews, The 1.5T in the Civic is a SOHC (Single overhead cam) single cam engines cannot do Honda's normal VTEC (only intake side). Where as the Accord's engine is a DOHC with VTEC on both intake and exhaust.
      So why didn't Honda put VTEC in the Civic? To save money. Civic is a cheap car.

Matt seems to be the only reviewer who acknowledges and highlights the handling of the 1.5T.
