Till jet the best tutorials of All I want is you i saw on UA-cam. Every single note and all adjustments.Even the right Guitar and amp to get close as possible to the original. Thank you so much for that. More fun and getting better as a beginner with those. Just great !
Micheal I know this is 9 years later but I was wondering if you have retired from giving your awesome tutorials on You Tube? The reason I ask is I have found that you are the most knowledgeable and easiest to listen to for a beginner like myself! Thank you ahead of time for all you have done for me!
Hi David! Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm still here. My career took over my life (all good) and many other priorities pulled me away from guitar. I absolutely intend to return to tutorials. I moved and have a new home with new setup. Hopefully by early next year. Than you for your patience! I haven't forgotten about this amazing U2 community.
Someone else asked on Part 2. Intro and Outro music are always from the same song (I take two clips from a selected song and use them through the entire tutorial). This is one of my new favorites from Keith Urban called "For You" from the "Act of Valor" movie sound track. Great feel/melody in this song. It builds up like "Where the Streets Have No Name." Love the guitar. Listen to clip at end of tutorial also.
Correct, on an LP it won't sound 100% the same, but don't let that put you off learning it. Sounds ok on my Epi LP. I also play it on a cheap Squire Strat, which is passable, just ;-) I use a Roland Cube 40XL to get the fx incl BritCombo amp setting that replicates the AC30 and added the shimmer via Line6 M5. Thanks for the tutorial, I've just discovered you and it's awesome to be able play such tunes. Great job!!!
Check out the other parts. I usually do a video on my Axe settings. You will see the shimmer set up. It's a parallel path of multi-delay into filter into heavy reverb.
I use 0.11s on my Strats and Tele. 0.10s on my Les Paul. I perfer Roto Sound strings because the wounds seem smoother than other brands. It's very difficult to tell the difference in tone. Roto Reds are my favorites. I don't go by exactly what Edge uses.
Hey, great Tutorial, thank you very much! However I dont get the rhythm of the last D major, the DDUUDDUUD. They cant be eighth, are those triplets? Meaning: on 1: DDU on 2: UDD on 3: UUD on 4: (probably eighth up and eighth down stroke?) It would be awesome if someone could help me?
You can play anything on any guitar, but the question will be whether you like the tone. If you are trying to get close to Edge's tone, then it won't work. Edge uses a Strat in quack position on this song, and many others. You can't get that tone on an LP. It depends on how much time, money and effort you want to invest in getting close to Edge's core tone. The core of the sounds is a Vox AC-30 amplifier. So many factors go into the tone (guitar, pickups, amp, etc.).

ok thanks
Coming soon.

Great tutorial! I dont know if youve covered it in an earlier video but could you make a video on the shimmer effect and how to get that sound?

It is very hard for me to use delay because i only have a pb and j delay pedal which only has two knobs, so you can only adjust it by ear.
awesome...as usual
Would I be able to play these U2 songs on my Les Paul Epiphone with my PB and J delay pedal or do I need to invest in some new gear?
Awesome Tutorial Michael! I Just have to ask, What Brand of Strings Do You String Your Strat With? And What Gauges? I Would Really Like to Know.
what was that song at the beginning? sounded rly nice.
