Intro and Outro music are always from the same song (I take two clips from a selected song and use them through the entire tutorial. This is one of my new favorites from Keith Urban called "For You" from the "Act of Valor" movie sound track. Great feel/melody in this song. It builds up like "Where the Streets Have No Name." Love the guitar.
Man your core tone without delay is beautiful
You are asking two different questions. The TC2290 and Axe-Fx have modulated delays and are both excellent. The TC2290 does not do shimmer, but the Axe-Fx does using the MTD (multidelay) block and heavy reverb (and you can do it with other effects in the Axe also). Shimmer is many delays working together at different times. The TC2290 won't do that.
You are hearing all digital modeling by the Axe-Fx II. For the core tone, the guitar is going into the Axe II, then through amp model, cab model and reverb model. The signal then goes direct into a Fireface UC mixer and then direct into my video camera sound input. So the reverb is the Axe model. I'm using plate reverb here. Mix is around 15% or 16%.

What an incredibly thoughtful, detailed, and accurate tutorial. Total commitment to getting it right. To that end...how do you set your volume knobs for bridge and middle pickups on your strat? Do you have them set all the way to 10, or do you back off to ~9 to avoid a distorted tone? I have stared very closely at many live videos of The Edge and can't see his strat volume settings. Also, one way to move between a cleaner and more driven tone (e.g. for solo) is through the volume knobs. But I'm assuming this technique is less effective in quack position since you'd need to simultaneously adjust volume on both pickups. Any input here would be appreciated!
Dear Michael could please sum up the basic delay's parameters to be used for this song? I'm using Hotone binary EKO pedal and is very hard to get a proper delay. The time should be 425ms and the tempo subdivision? 8th note or dottet 8th note? Thank you

Michael you seem to have an awful lot of reverb on that but it sounds awesome and not muddy at all, how can that be or is the mic picking up the room as well

For pedal board users on a budget, try a Behringer RV600 Reverb Machine pedal for shimmer. It works good for me on this song. It's dirt cheap ($40 new) and made of plastic, but it sounds surprisingly good. Plenty of demos and comparisons on UA-cam. For a high quality shimmer pedal, go for a Line6 Verbzilla ($150) or better yet, a Strymon Blue Sky ($300). If you're on a budget or only need it for a couple of songs, try the Behringer. YMMV :-)

Hi Michael. I'm quite new to playing and would really like to replicate some of Edge's signature sounds, but the Fractal Axe-FX is out of my price range. I have a decent 20 year old Strat and a beat up but functional Peavey amp. Can you recommend a multi FX "pedal"? A guitar shop recommended the Line 6 POD HD500x as its not too expensive and might be good enough that I never have to buy another. But I don't know enough to know whether I'll get the sound I need/want. They guy also frowned when I said I want to replicate U2's sound, so I'm wondering if I have to go real expensive to even come close. Any advice would be awesome.

your dotted 8 seems great, but I was listening to the song and I think i hear just a quarter note delay, is that possible?
I don't think so. It's definitely a dotted 8th song to get that double bounce. You can try a quarter note but I think you will see it won't work. I should have my Axe settings in one of the other videos in this series.
What is the edge using to get the shimmer sound?
