Michael Caine is just always impeccable in every respect of his role and the best line in the movie " A poacher who shoots at rabbits may scare big game away" ...
So clever that Lawrence (Michael caine) didnt launch straight into the Australian character but you could see him thinking it through before launching into a full on Chips O'toole and the look on Steve Martins face when he did is priceless, plus Janet didnt trust Freddie to have any sort of dialogue as she quickly established he is a mute, high degree of acting and timing in this one scene alone probably with some improvisation thrown in.

I watched this countless times in 1994 during the summer on the Jersey shore. I was 19 and my good friend Phil and I died every time this movie popped up on cable. Great flick. GREAT FLICK!
Genius and actually remade Michael Caine on many levels. Steve Martin was The Big Comedy Star of the day and Caine surpassed him. Wonderful. Loved the ending.
You just don’t get comedy like this anymore sadly, it’s classic British sarcasm meets overconfident American persona and you get this gem of a film, nothing like it anymore 🤣❤️ Michael Caine was the perfect fit for his role 👌

That 1.5 seconds of micro-bouncing Cain does as he stares at "Paula," right before getting in character. The expressions on Caine and Martin's face are priceless, but Headley really carries the scene with that New York accent and constant pushing with that really fast speaking voice pattern. This film shows how important a director is to a script. This is Frank oz's best film I think and its a huge improvement over the original Bedtime Story. But in this one they twisted the script to make the girl a con artist also. And did Glenne fill the role.

One of my favorite scenes from this movie is when Michael Caine gets the call when he’s in his pool. His butler brings the phone to the edge of the pool, and he says “good morning, Freddy it’s a wonderful day“ I found myself repeating that line over and over again last January, when I was staying at the lower house with its own small infinity, pool at my friends place in Baja California by San Jose Del Cabo near the beach I would dive in the pool whether it was midnight or in the morning after my beach walk and I will swim to the other side and pop up and say that out loud lol

Sometimes at the end of a really great movie you experience a touch of sadness because you know the movies about to end.
