This is a gem of a movie. That face on Steve Martin is just too much, especially when he says "Really" and the run after "Genitals Cuff". I am dying here.

Whenever at a gathering for dinner as a teen, I would randomly put on my "Ruprecht face" and stare at my younger brother until we made eye contact. Then I'd deadpan "Not mother?" exactly like Martin here and we'd both completely lose our shit.

The ambience before she meets Rupprecht is a master class in comedy. Michael Caine closing the gate behind him, and the banging pot noise getting louder as they approach his cell makes me laugh harder now in my later years than anything else.
Pure Genius! This movie and Blind Date. Under rated comedies! We had just moved in with my Mom after selling our home in 06. My Mom, brother, his girlfriend, husband and myself were all sick at the same time. We watched Blind Date and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels We were all laying on couches and chairs. 2 movies that the whole family could enjoy. It took us hours to get through both of them. We were laughing and coughing. Looking back it was a perfect day. 😂🤧🤒
Thank you. My dog would grab papers on the table while making eye contact and you say, "noooo"... and then she'd throw them on the floor if you didn't get up when she wanted something. It reminded me of when Ruprecht starts tipping the pots off shelf.
This has got to be the greatest comedy of all time. And this scene takes the cake. What a hoot! Each line is funnier than the last... "Perhaps we should go by ship... Ruprecht loves the water!" LOL "His quarters are here." "You've been banging on your pots again, haven't you?" "He's very affectionate..."
Michael Caine almost can’t contain himself when Steve Martin forks himself in the eye an then proceeds to ‘go to the bathroom’. What a gem of a movie. Absolutely top rate performances and hilarious script.
That's around the same time I saw it for the first time when my Dad rented it for me when I was very sick. This scene in particular was one of the funniest scenes I had ever seen at the point, but none of my friend's had seen it which made it difficult to reference with them. Glad to hear she has a friend to enjoy it with.
This is my favorite go to movie of all time.I thought Micheal Caine was brilliant .Who knew he could do comedy like this. The scene where he hides behind the door cracks me up every time and of course the whip scene is classic.Steve Martin was in his prime in this movie and his facial expressions are priceless.
The Hustle was so painful to watch. Anne Hathaway & Rebel Wilson have zero chemistry and limited comedic abilities. Michael Cain, Steve Martin, and the late Glenne Headly were a once in a lifetime ensemble.
6:39 Listen carefully to Steve Martin's intonation as he says "Excuse me..." I do believe he's doing an homage to Marlon Brando, the actor who created the mad Prince Rupprecht character in the 1964 film "Bedtime Story".

I saw this in the theater. When Caine opened the door to find Ruprect with the tire swinging, I spit the coke I was drinking all over my pants. Funniest movie ever.
Many thanks for posting this clip. DRS was on Sky recently and so I recorded it. I had already seen it many years ago and loved it - especially this part. So, after watching the whole film again, I watched this part over and over again - wetting myself every time (not literally). Sad to say, the recording was deleted. Now that I have downloaded this clip, I can wet myself many, many more times. 'Scuse me. May I go to the bathroom first? ............................. Thank you.'
Note 4:11... Mr. Martin and I years later had conversed regarding this scene. (true story), he replied "My best, yet sad and unfortunate attempt at Marlon Brando, " Love you, Steve!

Little Shop of Horrors was more of a cult classic quirky type of movie than a comedy. The other two were more of a comedic nature.
Laughed until my sides hurt when I saw Steve bounce across the room after hearing about the gential cuff.
