Thank you so much for clearing this up. Thought I'd ask on a facebook page I'm a part of about how safe it is to leave a gun in a hot car while I'm working but got jumped on and accused of being a troll. Thank you man!
I wasn't necessarily worried about rounds going off. I was curious about putting the pistol back on my hip when it's so hot. Also, it made my kydex holster brittle.
It's gotten hot enough here in the summer time that my polymer pistol left in the car has felt somewhat spongy... Almost like I was thermoforming some Kydex. Rounds still didn't go off. It was 126º outside and my gunmetal gray truck was probably about 150+ inside. Still not going to set off your ammo. Great video, Rick.
As long as you keep a lock on it it should be fine and that's just in case your car gets burglarized I personally wouldn't leave my firearm in a car at any point if my gun can't goin in with me I won't go is sad to say that's the type of work we are living in
So my main issue is keeping it on there not a few hours. Because some days I have 7 hour shifts and some days I have a 10 hour shift. My concern is leaving it for long periods of time, time I have mentioned above. I live in arizona that Temps can reach 120F outside and God knows how much inside the car.
I live in Vegas and was wondering the same thing 🤔. Hopefully someone will comment on this and will give us some information on this ? Thanks for the comment.
This is well appreciated my man. Me and family just now getting home late and I’m worn out. I do not want to go back outside to grab my box of ammo. I’ll get it when I awake which won’t be till later on probably around noon when it’s hot as a cow ass during the summer on a bbq grill. Welp great content helped me a ton now I’m off to the land of dreams and things. Peace out main
But will the heat corrupt/ruin the gun poweder. Im worried about the powder going bad resulting in squib loads ect. When using said bullets that have been exposed to exsesive heat for a long period of time.
Science! Mythbusters has done some interesting stuff with bullets and it's amazing how "UNdangerous" they are w/o a gun and how hard it is to accidentally ignite them.
I leave a rifle in my truck in a case with some loaded magazines…my concern is the effect on the ammo after a year of freezing cold or blazing hot summers… 😅
i like the new series you are doing about reloading and i know you use to live in california and move to north Carolina it look awesome over there and way better gun laws too God bless you my friend!!
In house fires you never hear witnesses say “oh there goes his guns and ammo igniting in the fire”. I’m sure house fires don’t discriminate towards gun owners.
You didn’t debunk anything where’s the data? “Eh it gets about this inside the car on a hot day”. So scientific. How about place a safe with a remote thermometer inside on the passenger seat on the hottest AZ day and then we’ll talk.

your welcome, share to your friends many people just don't know
Thank you so much. Makes me feel better with these riots going on. Always gotta be prepared.
I was curious about this, since I can't legally have a weapon in a CMV. I was worried about leaving my EDC in my car while at work in Az!
Same
Exactly how I feel lol. I work at Amazon. Here in Phoenix

I'm just wondering what the temperature needs to be for the polymer to get gooey.

Good info AZ.
Ahh damn so don’t leave my sd9 inside the glove box lol? It’s got a polymer frame
I worked armed security and was seeing if i leave my gun in the car whenever I'm not working, nothing will go wrong with it?

It won’t get hot enough. It’s all about max temp to get a primer to ignite.
Isyour6covered® thank you for the reply.
What about the parts on the gun?

what about humidity?
Finally someone said it in the most simplistic way.
But will the heat corrupt/ruin the gun poweder. Im worried about the powder going bad resulting in squib loads ect. When using said bullets that have been exposed to exsesive heat for a long period of time.
Moisture ruins ammo not hot days
Science! Mythbusters has done some interesting stuff with bullets and it's amazing how "UNdangerous" they are w/o a gun and how hard it is to accidentally ignite them.
Very true thanks for watching.
Had never heard anyone bring this one up, Thankfully. lol
Thanks 303 for watching
Grate info iv had a curiosity about this topic
Be careful with those Tupperware guns. They will melt into a puddle😝
prove it fudd lmao
Ok but what about my sd9ve ? It’s got a plastic frame lol. Would that melt ? Of course I would keep it in my glove box where I can lock
I leave a rifle in my truck in a case with some loaded magazines…my concern is the effect on the ammo after a year of freezing cold or blazing hot summers… 😅
What if left over time will it cause the ammo to lose its velocity?
Ammo stored in dry areas will last damn near close to forever
Can keeping it the car daily cause it to miss fire because of temperatures?
Nope if your ammo is in good condition
Do you have an opinion on how long it takes for ammo to degrade leaving it in the trunk of a car for years at a time.
If ammo is stored were moisture is very limited it should last for many many years. Ammo left in damp areas is what can ruin ammo.
@@IY6C does ammo go bad in the extreme heat?
If dry I don’t believe so.
So my AMMO in my Garage with Temperatures around 110-120 in the summer is perfectly safe huh? I do worry some times
RichardG0014 nope should be fine
It was 115 here today and I was worried about keeping my firearm in my car.
Only thing that might be a problem is polymer frams in the heat especially over time I wound if there would be flexing causing a jam or even cracking
i like the new series you are doing about reloading and i know you use to live in california and move to north Carolina it look awesome over there and way better gun laws too God bless you my friend!!
Thanks for the info. Have a great day.
Psycho free vehicle
thanks for the info. I have never had a problem in the texas heat. cant say the same about the humidity.
I hear ya on that...smart words from someone who knows about heat/fire safety! Cool stuff man.
Thanks Chris
Thanks Chris
My dude pulled out facts 🔥🔥
good info sir i have all my ammo in the garage and i was worry about something like that because i live in California desert
Moisture is your worst enemy when it comes to ammo stored. Thanks take care. And as always hit the subscribe button.
Thank you! It’s good to know this stuff!
im already subscribed awesome channel keep up the good work
Thanks Tomas. Wasn't sure. Lol thanks again. What videos you like the best? Always trying to become a better channel.
so in other words, given that it's impossible to find, no matter how hot a concealed gun gets in your pocket, it will never go off?
Yes unless you jump in a oven. Or catch on fire. Then stop drop and rock and roll
@@IY6C good shit, my man, truly appreciate the help. very much.
I am in Arizona, so I will be cautious and not leave in direct sunlight.
thanks men value info !!
I hope My truck never gets 300 plus degrees! ;)
Me too that fricken hot. Ed thanks for watching.
I’m from the future.. u may have covid @0:51 or u just coughed, 2020 is insane prepare yourself

I retired from the fire service. It’s real
Like vegas it gets 115 and up
That's interesting I've seen them in microwaves.. But I never worried about them in a car
So if your car catches fire your ammo may sound like loud jiffy pop. Good to know. lol
Joey that's a perfect way to say that. Thanks for watching
Good stuff Rick!
Thanks Rich
Being a fireman you should do a video about stored ammo in a house fire.
Sounds good
Yeah "sounds good" as long as I don't mention Glocks deforming in prolonged direct sun exposure.
Interesting info....Good vid....
Thanks Scott
Thank you
You're welcome
Thank you!
Gun free zone 😂
good to know ! thanks
Thank you for watching.
My momma my momma told me a glock will start to melt in a hot car
That didn’t happen
