I remember the days I could watch this type of interview, have some thoughts and get on with my life not having to read snarky comments on the internet. Kids now have no idea how wonderful that was. They have to live with hate in their face at every turn. So sad.
I got a chance to met ed in 89. Then again in 2004. It was really sad in 2004 to see what had happened to him, so glad it seemed he cleaned his life up the last 10 years

Eddie was truly a humanitarian. He never came across as "I am a Guitar God!" He just was Ed, who happened to play a guitar like no other person. He always looked like he was having the time of his life when his guitar was strapped on and his amps were humming. I do wish we had gotten a Van Halen Brothers project.
There are paintings showing angels playing lutes or early guitars and while Eddie was not a perfect man, he was the closest thing we had to one of these lute playing angels. Their album cover of the cherub at the bar smoking is nodding to him. RIP EVH and Thank you fir your many gifts.
EVH is not merely the GOAT guitarist, but he is a damn good man with a heart as big as the sounds he creates with said guitar and the EVH 5150 amp he invented !!!!!!!!!!! My biggest regret in life is never seeing him play live.

So yes, when I bought my EVH Wolfgang Special at Johnny Guitar on Sunset Blvd (it's no longer there) the store owner who knew Eddie told me the affair was the reason for the end of the partnership. But again, doesn't cancel out the good that Eddie did. That's not how it works.

If he really gave a crap about the kid he should've paid for the surgery himself. He had the money. So Eddie used this kids illness to generate publicity for himself and to get in his mom's pants for his own gratification. It was all about him. And then even worse, after Sterling Ball called Valerie and told her about the affair, another humiliation after the very public humiliation she endured after the photos of Eddie went public after the Andi Remington affair, she made a a guest appearance on Conan O'Brian's show to promote a movie she had made and Eddie who was backstage with Wolfie. told Valerie to go on the show and tell Conan and everyone else who was watching that she & Eddie were having sex all over the house morning, noon and night. What a sicko.
Eddie looks like a little Dutch boy in that picture all he needs is the wooden pointed shoes, but besides being the greatest guitar player in the world he's also got a good heart.

My sister Leilani and I worked for Ernie Ball back in the late 70s in Newport Beach. I coiled strings and S&D, she stamped picks. One day Sterling accused me of stealing a bike, smashing it up then bringing it back. I told him I dont steal. Bikes or anything else. And if I did, I wouldnt smash it up. And if I did, I wouldnt bring it back. And I dont believe you would hire that type to start with. But someone you butted heads with would. It was almost like a light went on. He said ok, thanks. I went back to to coiling strings. No prob. Lol
Unless your name was Sammy, David or Mike, Eddie was the nicest guy in the world. And I get the tensions in the band. Eddie was a true artist who saw the band as him and his brother. Seeing it that way and it all makes more since. RIP to the greatest ever
