- Stolen Genie Lift found under 405 FWY - lifted with rotator - For some reason I really love lifting these kinds of machines. They vary vastly in size but normally have pretty easy lift points and always look cool for the camera. This one was called in by my buddy Rolando from Socal Equipment Repair that works on these machines. Apparently it was a stolen unit and left dead in the water with parts stolen here, hence the need for my 50ton rotator, Hulk.
The spot looked so much harder to access from the ground, but wasn't too bad once I started driving as you see. Once next to it, Hulk was setup and the unit was fully loaded on Rolando's flatbed within 15 minutes; that's just how fast these jobs are.

Your entry to the river wasn't nearly as exciting as the tow truck in Terminator 2. 😂😂
Hahaha I know. I love that scene!
From what I learned from other tow companies, a manlift, or a hydraulic lift, uses hydraulic pressure to turn the wheels left and right with this system, the vehicle can’t be put into neutral can’t release the brakes the only way to move it is to start it up. that’s why I had to lift it instead of just winching in on to the industrial carrier
I was wondering why it wasn't just winched up.Thanks.
The worst is sitting in the bottom of the "levee" and wondering, what if its raining up stream!
Well then he'll get the
truck washed dummy
Don't you know " It never rains in Southern California"? 🤣😍
Easy job, VERY cool video!! The mic thing for the drone worked great!! Take care out there and be safe!
Good job and great drone video! People will just steal anything now days!
Hey Josh & Rolando !! Great recovery !!! Thank God you got out of there B/4 the rain started harder As would have made the exit ramp very slippery !!🙃😊🤔🤔👍👍👍👍👍
The drone footage was awesome man!
That has to be the most L. A. recovery location imaginable. Those are such a big part of the "action movie in L. A." setpiece list...
Mr Josh Loved the drone footage. Thanks for sharing and stay safe
Really liked the aerial shot!!
Awesome video Josh and the narrating was on point.
There is a manual bypass on these to make it a free wheel or pull the axels as well for next time
Thanks, I enjoy your videos....
That's great, man. Simple job in a special environment.
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
Another successful lift God bless Merry Christmas Happy New Year thank you for sharing
Dang, I was hoping no one saw me put that there.
Caught you 😂
Hope you were filming the Corvette minus engine recovery!
love the sound of Hulk...🙂
.hmm must have been such a high speed chase
Awesome video Joshua
I like the part where Josh talks to himself and/or thinks aloud. 🙂🙂🙂
Pepe you should always wear your seat belt. That was trippy getting down in the flood control channel. Stay Safe out there.
Depends.
It can be better to jump out of a vehicle that is about to roll instead of staying in it.
(but in this case he was sitting on the downhill side, so it is definitely better to wear the seat belt)
You certainly have very interesting recoveries!
Well done, true and faithful servant!
You better get out before the big wave comes. 🤪
I feel like an opportunity to race down there way missed. 😁
That was parked right by where the painting stopped; stolen unit or just broken down needing repaired?
Have you ever said 'No' to a recovery because it was too dangerous?
Nice, looks like 65ft? I can "just" get them on our trucks, because we drag containers we've got a 1" coming rail and the 65ft booms run snug up the rail.
Real sweet job.
Dam the torpedos!! I mean seat belt,,full speed ahead!!!👍👍
Some reason why you didn't winch it up on the roll back?
great job and good video work.
how did they even manage to move it lol like its a heavy machine
How did it come off?
Love the work you guys are doing if it wasn’t for you guys They would be Smashed cars all over the place So keep up the good work bro watch a movie or episodes and have a great day peace out
Good job. But I don't understand why the other tow truck could not just winch the lift on. Looks like all the wheels and tires were okay. Better than so many wrecks.
It’s hydrostatic drive, the wheels won’t turn with the engine off. You risk damaging a lot just tugging on it
This is the correct answer
@@PepesTowingService Did you check to see if it has hub release plates?
About 16mT over the side: must be the rotator almost to the max.
Dammm wish u would got the the unit number to see what yard this got stolen frm
👌
Why was it left there?! Several possibilities: stolen and stripped for parts; stolen to help graffiti the bridge and wall; or just plain ol' #YOLO.
What a waste of money and resources. Could have just unlocked the hubs and winched it on that rollback.
Stolen lift... sounds like someone wanted to get high.
Not your Best
Ummm ok. Thanks
I agree
Keep uploading! Increase your stats = 'promo sm' .
You can literally unlock the hubs and winch it up onto the roll back………
The drone is pretty handy. The DJI mic sounds good. Those canals are pretty sketchie to get in and out of. Always looks steeper and narrower than they are. Nice to have some room to work with no traffic or bridges to worry about.
Those man lifts are crazy heavy, I had to use our 35 ton crane to pick ours up at the auction yard onto a trailer. They sometimes have a hub plate you can unbolt to freewheel the hubs to move it without power.
The hub plate mentioned is in the center of the hub, usually held on with two bolts. Chock the wheels first. Remove the bolts and the plate, flip the plate around so the bump that was on the outside is now on the inside and tighten the bolts. The machine can now be pulled or pushed.
Josh another great job, great video! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
Marry Christian to you and your family and friends and a happy new year
That must have been some joyride, just a bit slow. Have good days!
I really like your use of the drone.
For those who don't know, THAT is the LA river, all concrete.
Similar but this was Irvine
So where are the hundreds of movie cars that stay in that place?
THAT TOK OK SOME "CAJONES"GOING DOWN THAT RAMP INTO THE RIVER !!!!
Who else straight away thought of the terminator film?!
Reminds me of GTA when you drove down into the river ,stay safe yall
Good job…
Good Work! Hulk saves the day again!
The camera angles on that vid were BRILLIANT!
Greetings from the UK
Once again making things fly through the air with the greatest of ease. How did they get the rig off the flatbed?
Really sir you should be running cranes
Can’t believe they stole a lift T least it wasn’t up on blocks with the tires gone.
The motor in the Hulk has a nice purr to it. Great job by the way.
Loved the drone video!
great job...
That Drone video was on point 🇺🇸🇺🇸
The rollback couldnt get that by itself? I see them loading and hauling all the time, seems a lot of equipment for little work
And how would you get it on when it’s dead in the water and doesn’t turn on?
