- SWING WIDE! Rotator rescues trailer stuck on yellow concrete pole - Received this fun job from my buddy Mark at Mr. C's to tackle this loaded trailer stuck on a concrete pole. This happens semi-frequently in the city of Vernon where I rescue these guys that don't turn wide enough on the small streets.
The easy part is rigging the rear of the trailer, lifting then swinging it. The damage caused by the crash...not so much. Shifted axle, bent rims, blown tires, ripped trailer, all of the above. Tire service arrived quickly to single out the front axle, so the driver can limp it to my yard about 2 miles down.
Once at my yard, company sent a new trailer and my crew transloaded everything over so the product can make it to its final destination. Nothing too crazy with this one, but still a bit tricky. Also please forgive me if the video quality isn't up to my usual standards. I'm still learning iPhone videography and was using a defective anamorphic 1.33 lens.
►All footage was shot with my iPhone 14 Pro. I also edit my own footage using Adobe Premiere Pro.

"LIFT HERE" being right over the bollard is comedic gold at best! Happy Holidays to you and your team!
Kudos to the pole installers and the recovery crew.
That bollard is impressive as hell - snapped the suspension like a stick...
You had an awful lot of faith in that landing gear on the trailer. I'm surprised it didn't fold. Good job!
that trailer is toast.
Hey Josh !! Another Great ""HULK"" recovery with NO more Property damage !! Video was fine on this end !! Hope you had a ""MERRY CHRISTMAS "" with Friends // Family & Employees !!! 🙃😉🎄🌴🌲🎋👍👍👍👍👍
It's always good to pay attention to your driving.. especially in very tight spots as this.. patience.. patience wins all of the time instead of rushing and not paying attention as to what is going on with the rear end of the trailer..
catastrophic damage is an understatement Josh 😂😂. Those poles are no joke on a trailer and the damage they inflict.
The old ADDAGE "Swing Wide It's A Flippin Trailer" came to mind Josh Then it really Goes Further Part Of Commercial Driving is to Watch the mirrors and Double Check your Routes to ensure you can make the turns and understanding Varying Off tracking when you Adjust the Sliding Tandems and the whole back Swing Of the Trailer! The minute he felt the Bump He should have Stopped instead he Kept Going!!! Common Sense isn't Common these days
Happy New Year and Merry Christmas to what's left, to all of you!
Happy new years to you Josh and your family and friends
20:19 time. One number off. Should had been the famous Engine 51 instead
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family Josh!
Thanks Josh and team greetings to you and the family this Christmas time.
Nice work Josh!! Also, you forgot to tell people that 2023 Pepe's calendars are available at your online shop. I ordered mine yesterday!! Happy New Year!!
Good catch, I just made a post about it!
Merry Christmas from Southeast South Dakota
Hi Josh, loved the wide format. Thanks, Happy New Year, and stay safe!
My question is how fast was he going around that corner in order to rip the rear Dolly front axle out that stuff is like quarter inch half inch stuff unreal and then to bring it around under the trailer on a like a 4 ft post some guys need to go back to driving school Josh love your work keep it up hope your baby's doing good too thanks for the great videos.
Felices fiestas a todas en Pepe's! Heppy holidays to everyone at Pepe's!
Merry Christmas to you and your family
Josh another great job and video! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
Pole 1, trailer 0. A great video as always Josh. Happy Holidays to you and your team !!
Merry Christmas to and every at Pepe's Towing Service.
You have to wonder why bollard was installed at that corner? Bollard was probably installed to protect the electrical pole. This corner looks like a repeat incident site. Ruined the truckers whole day.
Nice work 👍 Lee
It would be awesome if you could add elapsed times on your videos. My husband and I enjoy watching you and your team and just wonder how long it takes sometimes
Lift here I like it
Nice and EDUCATIONAL 😊
Great filming. Thanks
Your definition and mine of fun are quite similar!
Safe new year to you and crews.
I said oh no when he leaned that tire on Hulk
Good job there pepes towing. Happy Christmas to you all
Swing wide, it's a friggin trailer!
I believe with this one fun is a bit of an understatement when they have to call in the 50 ton rotator
Nice job guys love the video
He must've removed the Swift logos before the filming started.
Merry Christmas 🎅 to pepe's family
It seems like you always have overhead wires to contend with nice work Merry Christmas and happy new year BE SAFE
wow this video quality is hella crisp, what camera was this?
Wow really? I am my own worst critic then lol I was very disappointed with this one but put the video out anyway. It's 100% done with my iPhone 14 pro but I used a 1.33 anamorphic lens. It was my first time using this lens (notice how it's super widescreen with the black bars on top and bottom?). Glad you liked it tho, I'll be learning how to use the lens better for future videos.
You really had those bogeys pushed forward short trailer
am i the only one that noticed the tyres were all different sizes lol nice recovery as always and thanks for sharing. does make you wonder how some of these operators manage to get their rigs into these predicaments though!
More like wonder where they got their license.
Damn, how hard did he keep trying to make the corner after the initial impact? That thing was wrecked.
❤❤❤👌👌👌💪💪💪
That trailer is headed to the scrap yard or a very costly repair job!
That one inch impact needs rebuilt and oiled daily
What type of Sawzall blade was that went like a hot knife through butter
Merry Christmas.
there's a couple tight corners I deal with in Cincinnati. This one is a side st to get into a container depot. The cars HATE having to back up for me to clear the corner. And I'm usually only a daycab and 40 ft container.
And if you Google how to get in it sends you into a residential dead end.
That's some scary damage there.
Will it need an off load to get those x members fixed. My co. That would be a Post accident drug test and 4 days off.
lack of training for the driver he tried to pull that trailer around the corner to cause all that damage
That's One Reason why you don't Cut Corners !!! Lol !
Seen many rescues of trucks hung up on these concrete poles .
What would it take to simply make these guard poles just ONE FOOT taller ??
What kind of bandsaw blade are you all using??
mistakes are easy to make.. but double checking and keep on checking to make sure everything is ok before proceeding forward.
Expensive.
my 1 question is why fight taking the rim off if the tire is already gone and you'll be chaining it up anyway... it's not likely to go anywhere anyway... plus, will the driver haul the broken trailer to your yard or will it need put on a landoll due to the damage.... after transferring load to another trailer, cuz that one is DONE!!
Say Illinois without pronouncing the s at the end Josh. Love you're videos
Woo you know he's fired.
If this driver realizes what they did wrong they will never again make this mistake. I hope they didn't quit. Mistakes happen
Only because I don’t know, why did you lift from the very rear of the trailer when there are designated lift points on the sides near the rear axils?
Easier to lift from the rear. To lift from the sides is for overhead cranes. He would need two trucks or a spreader bar to lift with one truck.
The lift points are to avoid damage, but obviously the damage is already done.
I think it's time for trailers with steered axles.
That was Epic bro Awsome job i do Recovery too but no Offense on my comment or to anyone everyone does work how they work .. while Swinging the ass on the trailer just for safety the power unit should be attached in case the legs are weak and dont twist and buckle ..again only if it loaded ..and i will say no offense to anyones work method
Josh what blades do you use on your sawzall?
I use a few different kind. The Milwaukee brands have some nice ones, I also carry the Diablo ones.
Was going to ask the same. That was impressive cutting speed.
Put the post there to stop people cutting corners endangering pedestrians and guess what happens DOH!
257 thumbs up
that trailer is scrap metal now..
man what did you do to hawk he scratched🤣😂
I think them tire's are to much for hulk lol
Chicago log nuts don't come off you have to cut them
A lot of time same with New York lug nuts. LOL. Ask me how I know…. Driving a light duty wrecker for a AAA shop can be fun but a pain sometimes with tire changes lol.
Does anybody have a trailer for rent so he can cross-load and deliver? 😂 Would you rent one to him after what he did? 😱
Some of this video really belongs on "Bonehead Truckers". Swing wide driver, it's a friggin' trailer. This video looked like a "letter box" movie. I guess it is the camera. UA-cam is putting ads in the middle of your video.
For future reference, the yellow concrete poles are known as bollards.
Truck 52 WHERE ARE YOU?????
Sem noção
First
that truck driver should be fired, good on the ballard for protecting the signal this idiot would have taken the whole thing down
Bet you he is a Swift driver.
I can tell in comments nobody drives an 18 wheeler cuz why the hell would someone put a yellow pole in that spot..
Swing wide it’s a friggen trailer
It's not even a SWIFT truck.
The utility pole thanks the concrete post. The dispatcher moves one step closer to certified alcoholic. The driver is no hope.
He is a bad driver how did you not look and see you was about to hit the pole.always swing wide and watch your mirror smh.
