Almost all of my tools are metric ( I have some hold over SAE tools in case I buy something old that needs to be fixed ). When I do encounter something made with an SAE thread it is a royal pain in the you know what to find parts that screw in. If it wasn't for some backwards southern states the US would have fully adopted the metric system in the 1970s but the johnny rebs wouldn't allow it. So we are stuck with this miserable system of measurements due to stubborn ignorance.
Worked for 3 years @ Rio Tinto and the landslide has been stabilized by removing overburden from on top, now the main Haul road into and out of the Pit passes direct by the slide area.... The destroyed road in the video used to go the the Visitor center which bit the dust....!
I wonder why they didn't evacuate these trucks and other equipment if they knew the landslide had started, they probably didn't expect the landslide to go that far.

I drove one of those big mining dump trucks briefly and I can tell you they slide with no warning even at low speeds. If it's wet and downhill they are treacherous to drive. Most of the braking is electric, at the engine, and you can be easing down a wet hill below 30 mph and suddenly the rear end comes around on you. There is no feel in the steering like a car has and it you use the wheel brakes when it slides you are done. All you can do is counter steer and ease off the throttle ever so slowly until you regain control.
P the jet engine is for the evaporative operation. Instead of instead of using heat to evaporate the water they mix high volumes of air and send it out as a mist and it evaporates into the atmosphere
The 1st thing was an oil drilling platform. The jet looking nthing was a soaker to keep dust down. It sprays water and the dozer can use a set of grousers or tracks. The pads are about worn flat. And if you dig out a hole you've got to have a place to put the dirt. When it gets wet it'll SLIDEif not packed and seeded and we'll see how the imported haul trucks hold up. I am aware that I might damage the blade, but at that moment, the grader was the closest machine, and the trucks couldn't move because of the rock. That's why the grader had to remove the rock
