What a perfect setting for a childhood. Lucky Nick. PS: I'm typing this from inside your house
Well that’s just creepy.
The drone footage is amazing so much detail.
I only live 15min from Mangawhai. I love the beach there It's so beautiful and has such a great view.
NZ is truly a beautiful place and having spent time out there in the 70’s I’ve always said it is the only other place in the world I would want to live other than the UK. You’re very lucky to have roots there Nick and always be able to return to - have a great holiday!😀
thank you for making the effort and sharing this amazing video with us! you rock!
The drone shots are magnificent, you've shown the real beauty of NZ. Feeling very nostalgic all of a sudden. I'm joining the club of everyone commenting 'why on earth have you moved to CT...' oh Nick xx
Size of NZ is about 100,000 sq mi or 270,000 km2 for us metric people
Nick, this was a wonderful video about your years growing up in NZ. Particularly, talking about the personal aspects of your family’s life. What a fantastic place to call home!
Who knew Nick is The Don of Mangawhai :D
Ha ha ha that's exactly what I thought too!
The palm trees on that grass...😍 I'm in live with NZ now
Nick obviously comes from money. Must be nice. Beautiful home in NZ!
How can someone so ugly grow up in such a beautiful place?
jk Nick you're awesome :)
In dim lighting I am a solid 5/10
@@NickMurray BWhahahaha
So you've just left Tui in CT with a pile of food and the keys to the 911 yeah?
Tied to a pole in the back yard
she'll probably be fine
Nick Murray I write thee from your upstairs toilet. You’re out of two ply..
@@NickMurray house locks are already changed
Thanks for sharing your hometown with us! Such a beautiful place
OMG.... I also nearly drowned at that same spot! (back in the late 80's.)It's a lot further across there than it looks lol. Loved the video, I started missing home while watching. BTW the Tui is my absolute favourite bird x
I have an 1989 325i with the 5-speed. Man I love that thing! Yours is in great shape as well!
I always remember the memories of growing up as a child and a teenager going up to mangawhai heads every Christmas year my father and my mother and me with my older brother and two sisters and there husbands and kids we were a big family we all enjoyed the fishing spots around the beaches and the camping grounds were definitely different there when I was there I will be coming back for a day trip to have a good time in the summer season this year.
thank you for sharing your gorgeous little town! cant wait to see more !
Stunning scenery!
Hello from Oregon. Happy to see your footage/video of Mangawhai. My husband’s aunt, Ada May Elvey, married Louis Wintle in the 1930’s, and moved to Mangawhai at that time, living there until she died. We are planning a trip in 2022, provided the country is open and COVID allows us. We definitely plan to spend time there in Mangawhai researching the Wintles. You may be a cousin of some sort.
I just adore NZ what a beautiful place. I love the “Bay of plenty” Mt Maunganui plus the Coromandel. But for sure I’m going to visit that beautiful area you grew up next time I travel to NZ. Lovely insightful video Nick thanks for sharing.
I am soooo looking forward to exploring NZ soon. We have been working on setting up a film to shoot in and around Wellington so I have been soaking up as much Kiwi culture and info as I can. The more I learn the more I like. I grew up in a small western desert town of about 9,000 in Eastern Oregon. Your hometown looks like paradise to me.
I love mangawhai heads I had been going there since I was born.
Thanks Nick, Awesome made video, I’ll arrive there today and keen to stay for a while
It must be nice to drive on the correct side of the road again!

Great video. Thanks for the tour.
See you there on Saturday Nick!
Thanks for sharing Nick - these little gems brighten my day
Very beautiful and interesting family history
awesome tour mate, I went there for the first time recently - beautiful place.
Beautiful Nick!
Nick, my wife and I absolutely loved NZ when we went there for her brother's wedding in 2011 (his wife is kiwi). If you happen to drive up to Mangonui, please eat at the Thai restaurant there and say a big hi to the best chef in the world !!!! easily one of the finest meals we have ever had.
It's a beautiful place to live. I've lived here for a year now and love it.
NZ quarantines Tui but they let you in? And they say our Immigration policy is messed up.
All kidding aside Nick, thanks for the fantastic video tour. What a truly enchanted place, I really hope I get to see it someday. Plus love the E30! I learned to drive stick on one, it's truly a wonderful little car (and worth a mint nowadays).
Enjoy your videos. We arrived at Christchurch today and find it just a lovely little town, with blue skies and comfortable weather. Downtown is full of construction, esp. at the cathedral, that was heavily damaged in the 2011 earthquake. We will be touring Auckland and other beautiful sites, for a total of 2.5 weeks.
Thanks for the tour Nick. I can see why your such a happy person. Beautiful place to grow up. When I was there I didn't go any farther north than Auckland, my mistake.
Nick, seriously, thanks so much for sharing this part of your life. Great to see. Great camera work too.
Thanks for the mini vacation, Nick! Mangawahi is BEAUTIFUL!!
Absolutely Amazing traveled the world several times in the US Navy and spent time in dozens of ports and Once in Auckland in the early 80s.
Thanks for the video as you brought back some really great memories.
paradise.
What a nice place to have grown up in!
Thanks for sharing Nick
I really enjoyed the town tour. As stated, looks like a great place to grow up. Thanks for sharing this part of your life. I’d love to visit some day.
Greetings from South Africa Nick. Thank you very much for sharing. This was really very beautifully shot and insightful. Looks like a wonderful part of the world. (That Bimmer is looking gorgeous, by the way). Looking forward to some more great content from NZ.
Another awesome video Nick. Absolutely stunning shots!!! Thanks so much for sharing :)
I live up Tara road in mangawhai!! There’s a lot more people around now, definitely a lot more than 2000.
Darn Nick. Beautiful.
Beautiful landscape ! William will be jealous if you go boogie boarding ! Have a great time !
great video and beautiful hometown! i'll have to stop by if i visit nz
Spent a week in Wellington for business several years ago drove up to Castle Point one day.. Loved the area and scenery and the friendly people.. Of course Welly is a bigger town, so now I may have to go back and explore wonderful areas like yours..
Thanks for sharing, Nick. Safe travels!
Looks lovely, like most of NZ - awesome place!
Had many a crazy new years night at the heads in the eighties.....good stuff nick...

Awesome video Nick!! Cool to hear about your little town. Love that place!
Welcome back home Nick! I wish we could have seen Tui running on the beach too.
I love NZ! We went on our honeymoon to Queenstown back in July. We're planning our next trip back!
Great video. New Zealand looks beautiful. Impressed with your 3 series. Stood for months and fires on the first twist of the key! Gotta love BMW!
Stunning video. I know where my next vacation will be now. NZ here I come.
More video tours of NZ please.
What a beautiful car, thanks for sharing
Wow that place looks stunning...If I would be growing up over there, I would be playing soccer on that grass with the palm trees all day! :)
What a delightful video, Nick.
LOOks
Looks like paradise Nick
definitely will be on my vacation bucket list!!
Well done, Nick, well done! Thanks for this. Looking forward to more! Maybe a stroll through the streets of Auckland? A survey of Coromandel hippies? And more of your dad's farm, please! And I'll add my envy to the general pool already accumulating. Stephen in Texas
My understanding is that the permanent population in Mangawhai is now around 4,000 due to the influx of mainly Aucklanders selling up and moving to Mangas. Census when it comes out won't be *that* accurate as many people never received the forms or online code. Summer season swells to around 20,000 (excluding Northern Bass over new years).
Very cool place to grow up !
Love the car Nick! I could see that car in the middle of a James Bond chase scene with a bunch of black BMWs chasing you!
That BMW is hella clean!!!
Beautiful place Nick.
Very nice video, very well shot and edited :) Nice childhhod memories :)
So beautiful!
I am stuck living in Washington DC now but my family used to holiday in an old tram at Mangawhai in the 80s! lots of fun memories there. I remember the tide going out leaving two King Fish trapped in a big sand pool. Dad tried to get them with a carving knife taped to a cricket wicket....
Craig Arnold was that on Heather road?
Nick Murray can’t remember the street name, but can’t have been too many teams rented out as batches in Mangawai! I can remember falling out of the bunks in the middle of the night though!
Was an awesome place to grow up aye Nick! Awesome drone shots. Brings back lots of awesome memories 🤘🤘bahahahaha I remember swimming in that grotty estuary! What a laugh
Lovely
Good to meet you today at Big Boys Toys! Cheers Stuart... (Black/Tan 997 guy)
Great video, nice history 👍🏻😎
4,000,000 Kiwis's live in Aus ?? looks like a lovely part of the world !!
Lovely 325 Nick. Great car!
That's mean BMW 2.5 I remember our neighbor had 1 in the early 90s it was fast
Great stuff Nick.
A lovely video!!!
Beautiful drone footage! Amazing that the drone works upside down! You went down there to escape the snow up here for sure didn’t you?
Beautiful place, interesting video, thanks.
Hope ya still blogging mate, cheers from kerikeri up north, ka pai
Tsunami risk? Sorry, but the new construction at sea level, so near the beach brought it to mind.
so cool nick ..can i ship my 1972 911e to park in the shed for a year
There’s a new build house on that avocado farm and I worked on that
That E30 is such a beauty! Used to have a 1987 325i and at the time, the car was so much ahead of its rivals drivingwise. Time has been very friendly for E30 body style too. Your car might be more expensive now than new?
Been to Mangawhai twice (loved it), finally I know how to pronounce it. Next up Whangarei...
Hey Nick some drone footage of the surfers would be good to see. One of the best things about NZ is the variety of surf on both islands. I've been 10 times from Australia. Love the place, especially Gisborne.
A great story keep it up
Nice town there Pabl....I mean Nick :) Lucky fella!
Beautiful, wanted to see more!
Beautiful part of the world. 👍
So much nicer there than the states :(
I hope to move there someday though I have been looking at the south island due to the land there being cheaper.
Beautiful place, Nick. Where does Tui stay when you are away?

Driving and playing with the drone, at the same time...😝
