- Hi Everyone - just a quick video showing you how to use the new holographic pigment coating kit we've made.
It's finally ready for the community to experiment with so if you'd like to have a go with it, you can get some here:
culturehustle....
Collab with Simplynailogical.
I was just coming to the comments section to mention this myself. It's only natural the Queen of Holo herself gets a whack at this mesmerizing material.
I LOVE her!!!
Omg where is simply nailogical
stars&rainbows right my first thought when I saw him take all three pieces out of the box I’m just like, oh it’s holo powder, a taco, and a giant makeup applicator. XD I’m very okay with this though.
Omg I'm already SO looking forward to getting the pigment and Black 3.0! My mind is already flooded with SO much creativity hehe, I can feel the art-tingles in my fingers 😫🎉
"Knackered my nana" is my new favorite phrase
Same bruh.,
7:35 Stuart, do you usually eat your banana with the peel..? lmao
Cool stuff though!
For all those extra vitamins
Hang on you mean I could have just peeled it and would have got breakfast afterall!!!
This is a cool idea, but from your filming it’s hard to really discern what it looks like in detail. It comes across looking primarily like an interesting white pearlescent effect. I’d be more interested in a more metallic holographic effect. Could you add some more detailed and slower images? I’ve got some 1960’s bar ware where the silver bands have lost the plating. I’ve been thinking of refurbishing it with holographic material.
Totally! This video was more to show how it works rather than the cool effect. The lights in my painting studio are really flat and that means the camera just isn't doing this justice at all. I'll do a better video tomorrow showing it :) or have a look at my instagram :)
I've just posted another video that i did on my phone that might show it a bit better. It's just really hard to catch on film for some reason it's way better in the flesh!
Wow, that's nice! The video didn't really capture the holographic effect until the very end when you showed the painted glass. It really does look lovely; it is safe to use on dinnerware?
probably if you seal it correctly
It’s crazy how everything you guys put out is interesting and new
You’re always surprising me haha
Does the “Stick” coating form a skin? I mean, if you mask an area, will the edges tear when masking removed?
Thinking it would be great for gold leaf.
Did you ever try it with masking fluid? I'm hoping to be able to do that!
So this is what you were referring to so many months ago! Amazing!!
Can Stick be applied over a layer of paint or ink? I’m a miniature painter and I’d like to use this for magical effects
Holographic pigment works best on dark backgrounds and is more noticeable under warm lighting/sunlight... it would also work on light coloured backgrounds under "holographic preferable lighting", tbh but not as pow as on dark backgrounds. I have played with holographic pigment since 2017 and decorated squishies (yes... foam toys) with them and have currently moved on to a new crafty adventure using holographic/chrome pigments. I find that the less tacky and more glossy/smoother the glue is after it dries, the more linear the holographic effect would be. I use disposable eyeshadow applicators to buff in the holographic pigment. However, the foam on the applicator will crack, accumulate grit and disintegrate quickly after a few applications. Stuart is right, varnish is very important that it must be a glossy finish for the holographic effect to pop... and most importantly to protect the holo! :)
Taking my airbrush to the next level with this thanks bro, oh thats a hell of a canvas behind you!
This man is willy wonka of paints
Would it work under resin Stuart? some glitters do glow paints and so on or would a resin coating be too thick? my brain is already going into overload thinking of ways I could use it haha
TBH I don't know we've not tested it. If the resin is clear I see no reason why not... but I think you'd have to test it for us.
I'm curious if you tried and how it worked out
@@maiz7691 Hi No I haven't but, seeing some of the products that some resin artists I follow use I don't see a reason why it shouldn't work under a clear coat, tbh it would look pretty good applied on top but of course it would depend on the effect your trying to achieve :)
Could you show it in like the phone's flash light, with no studio lights?
For sure I'll do this tomorrow - sorry the studio lights flatten everything the video was more to show you how to use it rather than how cool the effect is. But I'll post a video of that tomorrow.
I've just posted a little video showing what it looks like with my phone light
@@StuartSempleArt Thank you so much!
How is 'Stick' different from a water-based/acrylic mordant for gold leaf?
This stuff is gor-freaking-geous! Will you be doing larger quantity bottles? I'd love to get a much larger amount, because, well, I have tons of things to use it with/on/in! Thanks, as always, and keep up the greatness!
My Warhammer models are getting an iridescent makeover...
im sorry but his little wave at the beginning was absolutely adorable
I wonder how this would look over pink. Definitely considering laying it over pink paint
you can get that powder for mixing into car lacquer
Does anyone else find that the way he leaves all the bottles with their lids off right where he's working really anxiety inducing?
using the stick base with, say your lit powder for example, would it be the same as with using the prysm powder?
Yup it works well with all the powders and we've recently made stick available seperately on the website.
Damn, it's a shame that holographics by nature can't mix with resin, a suspension of this sort of high quality pigment in a solution with some tint, some lit... that would be really magical.
It can't? Why's that? Is it something to do with the chemicals? (I'm legitimately curious lol) Maybe if so one could do multiple layers with a protective layer in between of a varnish that doesn't react badly?
@@niccilefevre been a long time but my memory is that holographics need clear, unbent light to work but Resin always bends light a bit, usually enough to make holographics cloudy.
@@Jaytheradical do you think that putting this pigment in something like dragon skin would result in the same "cloudiness" that occurs with resin?
@@slipknotlegion I don't know what dragon skin is like as a material but as far as I know, the best way to use holographics is as an outer layer.
I could be wrong, I'm not an expert on holographic pigments at all, just going off what I've learned from others.
Can you put two part epoxy resin on top of this?
What does it look like over or under colorshift? I’m thinking of using this on leather
Simplynailogical where you at?
When you put the varnish over ..does that counteract the stick's stickiness?
Actually, holo and iridescent pigments don’t have to be on the top layer. You can seal them after they’ve been buffed in. If not, it WILL eventually get scuffed and damaged, just like on nails. I admit I don’t know what the Stick product is, but I can’t see it being helpful in preventing the pigment from being scuffed away over time. Would have liked to see those shoes your friend has been wearing for two months. Either she takes REALLY good care of her shoes, rarely wears them, or uh... there’s a fib in there somewhere.
Well we found that you lose a lot of the effect of this pigment if you mix it into a medium so we found a way to powder coat with it which is much better. Honestly jemima's shoes are still going strong!
@@StuartSempleArt How did you keep it on her shoes so well? Does it only work on paper and fabric? Everything I've tried so far comes off with a simple touch. What varnishes and bases do you recommend pairing this with?
So looking forward to use this on some converse for my daughters wedding what varnish would you suggest plz
So I'm curious, I want to paint a game master screen for my TTRPGs. Now the main color is a darker silver/gunmetal color. Could I use this to get a kind of "oil slick" effect with a very thin layer?
Stuart should release a brush line called 'Nice Soft Brushes;
I feel like this would be really cool to use with stencils, or some other kind of masking. Hmm.
Yeah that works super well!!!
c; i want an holographic banana too~
So when you use it with powder paints, you're saying just rub the powder on like with Prysm?
Absolutely!
Is there a way to get a smaller wand or something I can use to make my own tiny wand? I want to use it for tiny detail work
I get the feeling that this is something you have to see first hand to really experience. If this video is just for application then it is really helpful and informative. Could you mix the prism with any of the powders? I would die or euphoria if I ever saw it with or over the pink😝
Hi Stuart! Since stick stays sticky forever, what's its' adhesion to other objects like? as in, if a little bit gets on the applicator sponge while you work can it cause the powder that's in your folded paper to clump together? If that's the case a sive would probably work but I'd like to be prepared, thanks!
Good question! Yes it stays sticky forever BUT when it drys (after about 10 mins) it won;t come off so there's no harm of it sticking to the wand. That's why we used the specific foam we did on the wand. Just be a bit mindful of how you use the stick and don't get it places you don;t want to be sticky forever.
@@StuartSempleArt Great, thanks!
Create a reflective clear paint when light shines itll show hidden messages:)
I didn't see any rainbow effect? How I can makes STRAIGHT rainbow chromic hologram effect (perfer NOT Glittery Flake Points).. and and if you know how to Acrylic it too. TY
Hey stuart, if stick is used with pigment powders would the powder coated object leave powder on your hands once the object is touched? I know ive pigment powder coated objects with thin adhesives but after handling said object it always left my hands full of colour.
Same question as someone else pointed. Can you apply stick using an airbrush? Can it be removed let's say with hardware thinner? Or a different solvent if it possible to apply it with an airbrush?
Do you know if she used more than a bottle to do both her sneakers? I only ordered a bottle before I saw this video and I'm wondering if I have enough to do a smaller pair of ladies shoes. 😬 Since that sneaker is bigger than my shoes and you used less than a bottle, I think I may have enough.
the rainbow effect seems kinda underwhelming is it brighter in better lighting
Holo is only really recordable under certain lights and those lights aren't great for it.
Can I use an Airbrush for stick and clean it? or will this just destroy my brush.
Can you use any other adhesives.
Hey Stuart, love your products - especially the watercolours! I think ‘holographic’ gives a false impression, why not iridescent? “Showing luminous colours that seem to change when seen from different angles: the drake's head has an iridescent purple sheen.” This would more accurately describe the effect we see here as this does not look in any way holographic.
I think it might just be the lights in my studio... it's not really an iridescent finish it is a holo finish... I've just posted another video that shows it better. Sorry this video was more to show you how to use than what it looks like.
If anyone sees this and knows, can it not be turned into watercolor paint? 🤔
Hi there Stuart I am wondering if this is recommended for canvas?
You’re so inspiring 💕
Where can I buy these products?
Dude has anyone applied this on their nails? I'm such a huge fan of yours since I heard the story of the blackest black..... I need this on my nails!
Edit: kmma buy all your powders and glitter and put them in my nails....🥰😍😍😍😍
Did you ever put them on your nails?
@@juanitasprawlin- no the pandemic happened life wasn't as willing to allow me to buy them, but he has, said in some post people do put it on their nails, shared stories of nail art using his powders so yes you can put the on your nails and they are so pretty!
Is this not just silver glitter?
can it go in suede?
How holo is it? Compare it with Holo Taco
When can I buy Black 3.0
Where simplynaillogical at
So its just micah powder?
Nah, Mica is just clear reflective mineral. This has color-refractive properties
Not to be a Boomer here but I sent you guys an email at the email address you said and it's been well over a week and I haven't heard anything back from anyone. Looking for some advice there.
Hit him up on social or find a phone number.
It is real holo
hmmmmm. One sneaker = not quite a bottle? At $50 a bottle, who else thinks this is economical? I love these products, but I really do have to question the price points.
none of his pigments turn much of a profit, he just likes to get them out there.
not bad ^^
Nackered your banana and got stick stuff all on it? Sounds familiar.
Im still waiting 4 my pre-ordered black 3.0
😤
There are muuuuuch better options
Is Stewart gay? 😆
