These turned out great! I have read several of the comments where they ask if you have to alter your ratios of A and B when you mix up the resin. As seen in the video you use such a small amount of paste into the resin that it would not change the ratios of the actual resin. Thank you Steve 😊!! Another successful and informative video!
Man, I wish this would've come out like a month ago! I just threw out a couple of resins, (there were only about 2-3 inches in the bottom of the gallon) that weren't working for me. I got tired of looking at them 😒. I could've made a 💩load of pigments!! Lol thank you for the great idea. I'm always looking for a really white white, or a really black black.

I've been making my own paste colors for a long time now.... ever since I saw you doing them about a year or so ago. even out of water paint powder. I've had GREAT results. thanks for sharing this again!!

I’m new with resin, and I need my resin to be opaque…. If you just add dye like this, will it be opaque?
@@LittleGreyWolfForge you can get a good opaque look by adding dies, mica or paste in the resin. Going slow as you add color will give you the chance to get the look you are looking for. Remember, you can add more but once you add it to the resin you can't take it out.... hehehe 😀🥴

It never occurred to me to use the hardener. I've always heard to use the resin (part A). I am certain this works great, and makes sense, as you can use either part A or part B. Thank you, Steve, for all you do!
I love these. The red looks more brown/red than a red/red. I am going to look into giving this ago & sharing it with my mum as she works with resin as well. I would love some thoughts on other colours though.

I saw a video, the lady used part A to make pigment ink and I tried it, it worked great. That left me with extra part B and I almost tossed it but didn’t. Now I see this video and I now know just what to do with that extra part B resin. Tfs this amazing video. Your pendants look really beautiful.
This video was so helpful, thank you! A few years ago I bought 250g of titanium dioxide and used it for making soap. It takes such a tiny amount to colour soap. But now I don't soap (as a business) anymore and still have at least 175-200g and have been wondering how to use it in resin. Plus, I have a small amount of hardener from the last order of jdiction. This video was made for me ;)

I prefer your method of using the hardener for the color paste. Although you use so little it probably doesn't make a difference, a bit of excess hardener won't hurt anything during the cure. However, not enough hardener may cause some resins to not set completely hard.
Hi Steve! I was just wondering. When you did your last video about making pastes with the vegetable colorings, you used part A. Does it matter which one you use? A while ago I purchased a bottle of just the part A to make some pastes. I'm hoping it doesn"t matter. 😊

Hello Steve. I love your enthusiasm. Even when there is a mistake you are showing us it is OK. You said you could use this pigment in any resin. Can you also use them in UV resin?

I made this a while back and love how hard the resin cures with it and the opacity. My issue is that no matter how long I work the paste to make it smooth or how well I mix it in the resin I get tiny bits of the powder showing in my finished pieces. I may try with a different brand of powder to see if that’s the issue. It’s very noticeable in pieces that I use it as a base for other colors. It doesn’t seem that this is an issue for you at all so it could be the powder I bought.
Have you tried sifting it before mixing? I think if it works for cakes it might as well work for this! I read your question and that immediately you opted in my head. Hope it works for you! Good luck!

So do you add part A and B as usual, then a bit of the part B mixed with the colors? I love all your videos, and really appreciate you providing links for us American shoppers! So many of my favorite UK crafters don't, when I'd love to help support them.
The amount of paste used is within the margin of error. You would have to add a lot of paste to make the ratio off, and with it being hardener, it just might shorten the working life a little.

So you’ve mixed them with hardener. Does that change the ratios when you go to mix the resin to which you will add them?? This is brilliant but I’m a bit confused about this. Thank you so much.

The amount added is so small that it is within the margin of error. You did see it was only a couple ml of paste and most of that is the pigment. Resin isn't usually that sensitive.
@@michellebailey6858 no one pours exact unless using a very sensitive scale which is a different type of resin than the 1 : 1 by volume kind.

I have seen this b4,but now that I just bought a set $20 this caught my attention again as I am getting ready to start my resin journey,How can you make translucent pigments for uv resin???

I mostly use acrylic paint for nice solid colours. That way my colours are not limited, though I have just made up some white using titanium dioxide.

I would think so, but is it necessary?
The point is that some powder has a tendency to clump. By making it a paste, any clumps are removed before mixing into the resin.
Mica powder doesn't usually clump. I would think the only advantage of using mica powders in a paste is that it might be less messy. The only thing I wonder is will the mica separate from the pigment that is on the outside and settle when made into a paste?

Steve why don’t you just use a Mortar and Pestle set to mix the paste?
I find it doesn’t mix it down fine enough and it’s easier to clean this way 😀

hello. this is great but you are only doing with titanium dioxide. can you show how to use or mix with acrylic colours to make resin pigment paste since acrylic paints are more easily available? that would be more nice pl. and with which part - Resin A or hardener B ?
Different "base" are used with Titanium Dioxide, some use water, or oil for oil paint. My question now is, have you tried it with alcohol?

You could make the paste with a watercolour mall if you have one.
