The best auto cleaning video I’ve ever seen was on one of those dove shooting in Argentina videos, that was hard core!!

thanks for the video! I hate cleaning guns but I clean after every use unless I am shooting several days in a row. After years of shooting semis and pump I switched to over/unders for all my shotgun sports. The fact that they are a little easier to clean was a major factor for me.

Proud owner of Ithaca xl900. Took it apart to clean and redo the wood parts with stain and tung oil. Very cool and fun semi auto gas operated shotgun in 12 gauge. #6 are very good to shoot.

thanks man I think this is enough for cleaning. most videos on UA-cam over do it by dissembling everything which I see is really overwhelming and unnecessary.

I’d recommend taking the trigger and bolt out once every 500-1000 shots I never use old oil rags as they’ve dirt on them micro fibre clothes from amazon are the best I find avoid oil and grease in the action as it attracts dirt I always check the chokes and re grease every 2 cleans for every day use a bore snake is enough and deep clean once a week or as above

Blimey my beretta 303 was 35 years old before the bolt and trigger came out to clean 😁

@@phildavis1282 i’ve relaxed my cleaning a bit on my franchi unless it’s rained on or done 500-1000 the trigger stays in oil in the action just gums it up to be honest there are plenty of keepers out there that never clean there benelli’s and they see tens of thousands of shots before issues depends how much you can bare to abuse a gun !

Obviously, this is for gas autos, the inertia ones like Benelli are different as far as the strip down clean...

I was always told oil is for guns and grease is for cars. I think IF once cleans it regularly then it will be just fine! Also where does one get that 1/4 ratchet attachment?

I have one of these (Browning Gold). These seem to have a reputation for jamming, and mine was jamming occasionally when I got it, despite having being recently serviced. I'd make the following comments about cleaning this gun:
*If the gun has not been cleaned for a while, there will be heavy residue build up on the tube under the regulator. This can be tough to remove, I used a bit of mild automotive polish to get it back to clean metal again. Ensure the whole tube is pristine and apply a light film of gun oil. The assemblies must move back and forwards on this tube freely.
*The regulator has a top and bottom bearing, ensure these are spotless. Apply some gun oil and ensure that they are free to move.
*The plastic piece (not sure of it's name); I'm not sure why you'd put oil on the outside of it, the contacting faces are on the inside. You'll find a lot of residue build up in here. Clean it out with a rag and some WD40, then apply a light film of gun oil on the inside.
*On these guns it's important to remove the action. The slides accumulate residue and is apparently the number one cause of jamming on the Gold. Clean the rails on the inside of the gun thoroughly with a toothbrush and some WD40. Clean the slides on the action thoroughly and apply some gun oil. Ensure it can move backwards and forwards completely freely. It can be a little tricky to locate it back in the spring cup but after a couple of times it'll be easy.
I've shot 500-600 cartridges through my gun now and it hasn't missed a beat, hopefully this can help others who have a problematic Gold.

Yes you should remove the action , it can as you say be a bit awkward doing this to start with , but soon becomes easy , great info . oh dont forget to clean the holes in the barrel portal , you can also remove the trigger assembly ever so often to clean very carefully.
