I'm very glad this show exists because seeing the game be played is cucial in my opinion. When I heard the rules I thought this was the dumbest concept for a game I've heard in a long time and I wouldn't have given it a second thought but seeing it be played and how much fun it is actually made me want to go out and get it for my next game night. Great job you guys, keep up the awesome work.
I was exactly the same! just ordered it after watching this :) the tension is great, also just watched "watchitplayed" do a playthrough, they have cameras on the cards so you can see what they have and it was killing me! I was almost shouting at them to play a card hahahah
Same here! Someone recommend it to me but after reading the description I thought this is a weird game. After I watched this video, I ordered it. It looks like so much fun. Great video!
As a social experiment it looks amazing. A non-verbal communication game that clearly gives a rewarding feeling when a tricky passage is navigated is great. Definitely not for my groups, but fun to watch. Dave was hilarious.
That's what you would think... BUT! we've been playing this game exclusively since this episode came out. We don't have the game. We re-purpose another deck and ketchup packet were used as life counters and throwing stars.
@@Syncopator There's something in the sync beween players part that feels awesome and makes you have that easy laugh they're having. Like wtf it's working. ahahah
What's insane (!!!) is how fun this was to *watch*! ...with the lowest word-count of any Game Night... :D That must have been a really tough edit, Lincoln, since you had to capture everyone's expressions almost all the time!
that was really funny :) I enjoyed . Thank you for doing these playthroughs. Great job on camera edit and you making these videos so amusing. Best series on board games here.
Dave described the what is effectively the birthday paradox when saying how crazy it was that 2 consecutive numbers were often drawn. The birthday paradox is meant to point out how unintuitive statistics can be for people, by pointing out that only 23 people need to be in a room for there to be a 50% chance that two people have the same birthday. This number is MUCH lower than people would guess intuitively since the pool is 365 days. This deck only has 100 cards, so while I haven't done the math, I'm sure the odds of consecutive numbers, even in the lower rounds, it way more common than people would guess.
I'm agonizing just watching this.... heh! I think that this game will cause me to have a heart attack. I do think that it is creative, unique and fun, still. Great job, guys and gals!
It's legit, but I'm not a fan of it, preferring to call "STOP" only when a player is interrupted by a phone call or something along those lines. I want to ride the flow of gameplay, but others' tastes vary... -WEM
I actually can see how the people around the table are enjoying the game, the game is quick rounds game, looks fun , entertaining, and pretty simply , it wont satisfy player for full night but as one of the games to start the evening :) nice game run and discussion , nicely done .
You guys are awesome. I like The Game and I love The Grizzled. The tension when you played the game wow, sounds like this game has my name on it ;) Thanks for a fun play through.
Dave is funny 😂 It would be so hard not to laugh playing this. I had overlooked this game so many times because it seemed like a concept I wouldn’t find fun, but you made it super enjoyable. I REALLY LOVE watching you guys play ❤️
This might be my favourite playthrough of anything I've seen. Chuckled all the way through and felt really involved. I even put my hand up at 33:05 :D so good!
awesome episode! I was constantly giggling and laughed out so loud when all of this sequential cards came out in right order. Well done! So much fun to watch
I play Poker and before the game this week, someone was showing this game to a few folks and I was intrigued. I didn’t really have a chance to try it but after watching you all play, Iv just ordered 4 because I know my friends will also want it, so thanks for the run through and the enthusiasm 👍🏽🙋🏽♀️
I’ll admit I had zero interest in this game just reading about it, but after watching you guys play it, I’m going to get it! One of the best game nights ever!
I thought it sounded so terrible when I bought it (I bought it because it got so many awards), and after we began playing it, we COULD NOT STOP. We played for hours, it was so funny. We allowed talking and it still didn't help you win. We would come up with crazy references like "if I was a snake, I could bite you" etc. Which imo, made the game sooo much more fun and literally did not help at all haha.
WOW!!! I can't believe that you guys won that game!!! That was a TENSE last round! Kevin was the best. You could see that he was really into syncing up with his team mates. Crazy video!!!
This looks like the perfect game for school! I had doubts about it because it seemed like a weird concept but I was having just as much fun as you guys
hey guys, this isn't really to do with this video, but a private video comes up in this season and I was wondering if that was the next episode after the mind one (this one) and you just haven't noticed it's private? Really love the show and am looking forward to more episodes!
Lincoln Damerst Thanks for the suggestion. You seem very enthused about the game! I will give it a go when it hits retail stores in US. Good job on another great video from you all :)
This is the funnies thing I have ever seen. TBS or GSN needs to make this into a game show where four players divide a jack pot if they can make it through to the end.
It's amazing that watching y'all play this game is entertaining at all, but you guys are great and it actually is. I guess watching you all watch paint dry would probably be fun, too. A party all the time!
I can see The Mind getting a nomination or recommendation for it's innovation, but winning the Spiel des Jahres is less likely. One of the things that the jurors look at are how a game plays with different groups. The Mind might not click with children the same way it does with adults. Anyone on the autism spectrum would have a lot of difficulty with The Mind.
The Game's cards are actually numbered from 2-99, the 1, and the 100 cards start on the table and have another back. That said, obviously you can still play The Mind with those 98 cards. :)
This made me play "The Mind", with a regular card deck... In that game, I ranked all spade's higher than heart's... All heart's higher than diamond's... And all diamond's higher than the club's. I rated the ace as value one for respective suit, and the King as highest value for respective suit. I used a four sided dice as life tracker. A six sided dice as tracker for Throwing Star's, and a twelve sided dice to track the Level. If you don't have dice, you can use a pen and a paper. And all other rules for The Mind. boardgamegeek.com/filepage/164796/english-rules
This game is fun. Played it with a group of people I just met, and after a couple rounds you get better at picking up people's mannerisms and knowing what they're thinking.
What would happen if you had 2 lives left, And the moment the round starts (let’s say in round 6) you play the 100 card. Does everyone just discard everyone of there cards becuase ALL there cards MUST be less than 100. And then just lose 1 life and win the round since you had 2 lives?
You could play it that way but it isn't in the spirit of the game and I believe the rules state you must play your lowest card. Wouldn't you rather play the game as designed and experience the joy of a round well played? It truly is amazing when you succeed. Thanks for the note and for watching. -Lincoln
Nice episode and a great game. BUT: according to the designer you only "synchronize" once (!) at the beginning of each level. You musn't say "STOP" all the time... 😉
brettagoge here is what it says in the English rules from NSV: “Concentration please: each player who is ready to tackle the current level places one hand palm down on the table. Once everyone is ready, they remove their hands from the table and the game begins. Note: this collective concentration on the level is vitally important for successful survival! As the game progresses, players are permitted to refocus their concentration at any time. Simply say “stop” to interrupt play - everyone places a hand on the table - refocus - remove hands - and the game goes on!” So while it might be the designer’s original intent to allow synchronization once per round the English rules clearly allow it. Thanks for the note and for watching.
Lincoln Damerst Hi and thx for your quick response. :) And guess what: I crosschecked with my German rules and you were right all along... So sorry for being a wisea**. ;) But I really Do remember Wolfgang Warsch saying something like this via Twitter at some point. Hmmm... Anyways: The game is wayyyy more fun without the STOPS during levels, you really ought to try it some time. ;) Bye and greetings, keep up the good work. :-)
Lincoln Damerst First of all: Thanks for the great episode! I really enjoyed watching you guys play my game! Second, you are both right. The rules allow you to play as you did. But the actual intension of the "synchronize again" rule was to allow players a restart when they are lost in time due to a big number gap or if they get distracted (e.g. a players glass gets empty and he/she has to refill immediately). But as long as you enjoy the game every interpretation of the rule is fine I guess.
Wolfgang, congratulations on such an excellent design. We have been having so much fun with "The Mind". You have a lot of great new games out this year. I am very excited to try them all. Thanks for the note and for watching.
After a while it becomes very clear that when Dave calls 'stop' it's because he has a card that's close to the one that was just played. Seems very much like cheating to me.
Chris Brummond no the point is you should just put your hand on the table without saying anything. Facial expressions often say much more than words. It was intense but I think there was cheating
I'm very glad this show exists because seeing the game be played is cucial in my opinion. I cannot believe this game delivered the most entertaining episode of Game Night I've seen to date. Brilliant. Fascinating. Just purely fascinating.
YOU can't believe it? When Lincoln originally told me about this game, I thought, "THAT'S a game..?"
I agree it somehow works and Dave keep laughing is funny too
As a social experiment it looks amazing. A non-verbal communication game that clearly gives a rewarding feeling when a tricky passage is navigated is great. Definitely not for my groups, but fun to watch. Dave was hilarious.
OMG!!!!! My heart was pounding the entire time!!!! This is by far the scariest game I have seen yall play!!
great editing on the camera
This was fascinating to watch. I don't know that it would work with my regular game group but it looks great.
I was thinking the same thing-- seems more fun to watch than to play. At least when these guys are playing it...
Jeff3210 you would be surprised how much fun the game is to play. The joy of playing cards correctly is just amazing. I recommend The Mind so highly.
Lincoln I would give it a try for sure, probably at a convention though. I just don't think my normal groups would be too interested.
Like wtf it's working. ahahah
Loved watching this so entertaining. We love playing it, so much drama but every time you do a level it’s like the most amazing thing.
Wow! The synergy on display in round eight -- from the very first card -- was nothing short of amazing.
Almost ridiculously simple concept for a game that delivers such an incredible, memorable experience. What fun to watch you play it. Thanks!
What's insane (!!!) is how fun this was to *watch*! ...with the lowest word-count of any Game Night... :D That must have been a really tough edit, Lincoln, since you had to capture everyone's expressions almost all the time!
This is a favorite for my friends!
My boyfriend took a full 2 minutes before we passed him and he had a 4. Best memory ever!
One of the best episode EVER!
that was really funny :) I enjoyed . Thank you for doing these playthroughs. Great job on camera edit and you making these videos so amusing. Best series on board games here.
I was thinking “yeah I’m not gonna but this game but let’s see where it goes”. By the end I’m like “ok I need to have this game” lol

Awesome gameplay video. Had to double check that “STOP” move, but it’s legit. Thanks!
It's legit, but I'm not a fan of it, preferring to call "STOP" only when a player is interrupted by a phone call or something along those lines. I want to ride the flow of gameplay, but others' tastes vary... -WEM

This was one of the the funniest GameNight playthroughs I've seen. I'm so glad that I watched.
My family and I love playing The Game. This looks like a must buy.
awesome episode! I was constantly giggling and laughed out so loud when all of this sequential cards came out in right order. Well done! So much fun to watch
Ani kation thanks so much to you!

You guys made this game so easy to understand and the gameplay was so engaging and clear! :D
I'm gonna publish the binary, octal and hexagesimal version of this game.
Omg, Ive never seen anyone play this game so well! Absolutely brilliant!
One of the best episodes! Loved the laughter!
Your group is a really good group for this game. Fun watch.
I’ll admit I had zero interest in this game just reading about it, but after watching you guys play it, I’m going to get it! One of the best game nights ever!
This looks like one of those games where your group could learn each other's tells and make the game easier the more you play it.
Ron Wood when that happens you play the cards face down and do not check if you succeeded until all cards are played.
Was hoping to see you guys play The Mind. Looking forward to watching!
When Linc mentioned this on the BGG show I have been dying to get it. I'm so happy that you guys played this! Thanks for a fun episode.
I thought it sounded so terrible when I bought it (I bought it because it got so many awards), and after we began playing it, we COULD NOT STOP. We played for hours, it was so funny. WOW!!! I can't believe that you guys won that game!!! That was a TENSE last round! Kevin was the best. You could see that he was really into syncing up with his team mates. Crazy video!!!
I love how Dave can’t be quiet ;)
Looks interesting enough to at least try. Thanks guys.
Wow! Enjoyed watching this game play!
This looks like the perfect game for school! I had doubts about it because it seemed like a weird concept but I was having just as much fun as you guys
I don't know how but the moment Dave started to look away I immediately understood that he had 100. Impressive.
The game was so intense, no one could do basic multiplication anymore LOL.
What do you mean?
He is referring to when Kevin couldn't figure out how many cards would be in play when we each had 8 cards in our hand. :-)
29:50
This game is so much fun. We always have a laugh with it.
This game sounds terrible, but after two rounds I'm dying to try it.
What a fun watch. This seems like the perfect game to play with my sisters/niece/brother-in-law.
This is hilarious to watch , you genuinely look like having the best time. The game seems incredibly fun, looking forward to trying it out
Really great episode. It was tense just watching.
OMG, the faces! The showdowns! This looks so fun
I never thought it would be that much fun! Even to watch it. I LOVE it! :)
This was amazingly beautiful🙌🌟 my heart was racing the whole timeeeee!!
People should try the next version of the game called ‘the mind extreme’
hey guys, this isn't really to do with this video, but a private video comes up in this season and I was wondering if that was the next episode after the mind one (this one) and you just haven't noticed it's private? Really love the show and am looking forward to more episodes!
I want this dude to explain card games to my friends. He said allot about rules + tactics and tips.
Always good to pick up tips on how to explain games by watching masters do it.
This game doesn't look interesting at all. But your reactions kept me watching. It was pretty entertaining.
Nain1982 it is just so amazing to play. If you ever have the chance, give it a try.
Lincoln Damerst Thanks for the suggestion. You seem very enthused about the game! I will give it a go when it hits retail stores in US. Good job on another great video from you all :)

Played it for the first time last week. Wow mind blown
Great fun! I laughed the whole way through.
This seems like one of the dumbest concepts for a game...but seeing it played, I understand now the tension and fun of it
Is that the way the Stops are meant to be used? Seems like a really big signal from Dave every time.
BoardGameGeekTV In this instance it seemed to be a definite “don’t play! I’ve got the next card too” which is definitely communication.
Yeah, I was thinking that too. Also the way Dave looks away, we could all tell that his cards were higher.
You can look away or put your cards down, as that doesn't count as communication.
Facial reactions are gold!
It's amazing that watching y'all play this game is entertaining at all, but you guys are great and it actually is. I guess watching you all watch paint dry would probably be fun, too. A party all the time!
This was hilarious. I was giggling through the whole video.
I think I'm ready to play this game. You did a great job It is finally coming together Thanks
LOL!!! I've just seen this episode and I really enjoyed it!!! I love all their facial expressions especially Dave's.
This was hilarious! My new favourite episode.
Dave’s looks in this one got me so good haha
I love this show! Thanks for making these

Nikki's necklace!!
Does anyone else think that Boba Fett looks like Michael Douglas? 😳 Nice video!
Hah, my dad actually had people get upset with him that he didn't admit he was Michael Douglas. Thanks for the note and for watching.-Lincoln
Round 8 was so Edge-of-your-seat moment!
This was such a fun episode to watch and I've just ordered it to take away on our holiday!

Such an awesome re-implementation of "The Game" but we're not likely to play - too much tension. I have a job for that!
Host was signaling at 28:00by looking away, showing he had a very high card left. Does that break the rules?
Nice episode and a great game. BUT: according to the designer you only "synchronize" once (!) at the beginning of each level.

I love Nikki's necklace! Also, great game. I bought this. I bet its more interesting with 4 players.
That was an amazing episode to catch on film! Well done :)
After a while it becomes very clear that when Dave calls 'stop' it's because he has a card that's close to the one that was just played. Seems very much like cheating to me.
He also looks away and turns his head to signal that he doesn't have a card that's close.
Thats kind of the point
Chris Brummond no the point is you should just put your hand on the table without saying anything. Facial expressions often say much more than words. It was intense but I think there was cheating
wow. I didn't like The Game at all. but this game looks soooo fun.
Who would thumbs down this video???
What happened to Aaron? He is missed!
Seems like great fun is to be had😃Instant purchase
This looks amazing! Any idea when it comes out in America? I didn’t see it on any of the online stores.
Josh Walton Pandasaurus is picking the game up for US distribution.
Lincoln Damerst thank you!
Great job. Keep up the great work
Oh, this is creepy, I don't think I'll be able to play this game without bursting into laughter every other second. :D
