I have tried most of these offerings and here are my thoughts: American Vodka - Definitely good for cocktails, but nothing else, not even shots. French Vodka - Indeed every bit as good as suggested. Good any way you like it. Buy it. London Dry Gin - Good for cleaning, not drinking. Skip it. Silver Tequila - Actually better than you think. My wife loves it. Anejo Tequila - Very good indeed, though it does have a more unique flavor. Reposado Tequila - Haven't found it for sale yet. Lime Margarita - I sure like it on a hot summer day, but others have commented that it's too sweet for them. Strawberry Margarita - Don't know, not a strawberry fan. Spiced Rum - I like it. Very smooth, but maybe a bit too sweet. Irish Cream Liquor - Excellent! Buy it. Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey - Indeed very good sipper, shooter and mixer. Small Batch Bourbon - Very enjoyable. You won't be disappointed at all. 7 Year Small Batch - I wasn't impressed. Bottled-in-Bond - Not as good as you'd think. Disappointing. Blended Canadian Whiskey - I hear good things about it from multiple other people, but haven't tried it myself. Irish Whiskey - Fantastic! Buy it. Blended Scotch - Hated it. Apparently I'm not a peat fan. XO Cognac - Haven't yet tried, but maybe I will after seeing this video.
I trust the Kirkland Brand more than almost any other brand out there. Almost everything they do is quality. I won't hesitate to try something new if it is a Kirkland brand. I have sampled hundreds of tequilas, many of them fresh at the distillery. The Kirkland Anejo Tequila is one of the best that I have ever tasted.
The spiced rum is actually really good I prefer it over any rum in the $20-$40 range for sure, but I will say it's a bit sweeter than most spiced rums. The silver tequila though is absolute trash.
Not quite sure who is doing your tasting and research but I find the Kirkland Bourbon tasty. I enjoy "hot" as you call them bourbons and this one fits the bill as an enjoyable pour. Also I wouldn't consider 51% alcohol a "hot" bourbon as technically speaking Bottle In Bond is only 1% lower and is the agreed upon Federally regulated standard for bourbon.

I’m sorry but the 7 year small batch is absolute trash. It took me almost two years to get through a bottle that I had to eventually start mixing into an infinity bottle with other stuff just to be able to drink it. The newer Barton’s line are solid as hell though especially the barrel strength. Edit: I just went and looked, I’m not even done with the bottle, I have a half an inch of liquid left in the bottom on the bottle. I bought it in March 2020 😂
I work at costco in MD and legally we can’t sell alcohol but when I visit Houston I ALWAYS get the strawberry margarita. Mix it with some sprite and it’s 🔥
I agree with everything except the Negative review of the Gin. Kirkland a Gin is actually very smooth and full of crisp and floral flavor. Great on the rocks, and in many cocktails.
I agree and it surprised me as well that Kirkland gin was on the worst list. Gin is my favorite liquor and though I have purchased other gins that were better, for the price and quality Kirkland gin is staple in my cabinet.
@@themaestro3034 I almost exclusively drink gin as well, and I agree. This gin is terrible compared even to value brands. Gordon’s is significantly better than KSig
The previous small batch bourbon was a Beam product and labled as Kentucky bourbon and was almost universally disliked. Current 7 year is excellent and probably made by Dickel. It's never not on my bar.
Great video! Genuinely enjoyed the notations and so much information! I must disagree on one point, however. As a big fan of Sailor Jerry's vs Cpt Morgan, i found the Kirkland Spiced Rum to be most excellent. Personally, i found the spiced rum to be a better counterpart to Sailor Jerry's, not-so-much Captain Morgan.
Alexander Murray & Co is a bottler, not a distillery. They are not actually making the Scotch. The Kirkland Islay Single Malt Scotch is great too. The Barton Bourbon is a straight bourbon so that means at least 2-years old.
A very comprehensive and useful survey! For historical reasons (last time I shopped at Costco, they didn't have these store brands), I've never tried any of these. Now I have the Sour Mash on my list as I recently rejoined Costco. Maybe the basic vodka too. I might also try the London Dry Gin, but without a lot of optimism. I am a G&T aficionado, strongly preferring Sapphire. This gin might be good enough for parties at least though.
Kirkland batteries are prety bad and should be avoided at all costs. I put AAA ones into a few of my remotes and flashlights. All of them leaked and destryod the host remotes and flashlight.
I've never tried Kirkland brand alcohol, but if it's anything like their other products, then it should be a good bang for buck. Have been a BJ's member for the last 3-4 years, but prior to that I had Costco membership for a few years, and while I do like BJ's for the overall experience (which also includes the location I shop the most), Costco brand (Kirkland) seems to be on a level above BJ's home brand (Wellsley Farms, Berkley Jensen). So, if you're not shopping name brands and home brand products make up the majority of your purchases, Costco/Kirkland is the better choice IMHO. On the other hand, other factors, such as store location/hours/shopper demographics/congestion level also matter, which really makes it a specific choice for every person (and that's the reason I stick with BJ's, given that I shop at my location 90% of the time vs other locations). Also, as far as I know you don't have to be a Costco or BJ's member to shop at their liquor stores. So, for alcohol at least membership doesn't matter one way or another.
I'm going to have to disagree, with your rating of the spiced rum. At any given time, I'll have 2 or 3 bottles on hand. Rum and Coke, rum and root beer, or rum and ginger ale, (Vernor's) or ginger beer! steve
as a vodka drinker, Kirkland French vodka is probably one of the best vodka's in the world. I buy the bottles, and pour them into my own small decanter.
The French vodka is an all time great buy. One of my personal favorites. But I moved to tequila and can say that the Anejo for the money is an absolute banger. It does have those flavor intensifying additives, that’s all the rage with celebrity tequilas and the big pricey bottles like 1942 & Claze. With that said I consider it more of a Dessert Tequlia 🤤 Sip & Chill.

When we finally were able to try them, their flavor was absolutely horrible. We tried to enjoy them, since we didn’t want to waste them by throwing them out, but they were unbearable.
I disagree with the review of the Spiced Rum. I was a Die-Hard Captain fan until trying the Kirkland Brand, which is more flavorful then Captain. And at $13.99 in our area, its a Great buy!
I haven't seen the Kirkland Single Malt Scotches in AGES! I agree with the 24yr verdict. Good, not great, certainly not a Kirkland single malt. The 22year, if ever found again is magic, as is their 18year. I used to enjoy the Kirkland Gin, and it's fine for a G&T, or martinis for the masses, but I stopped buying the stuff. I think the formula was changed, but it ain't what it used to be, and certainly isn't Hendricks, Beefeater, or Tanqueray 10 when it comes to a proper martini. And then there is their XO Cognac. The work their purchasing department is top notch. Kirkland wines are fantastic. For booze, their vodka is as good as vodka gets (meh) and their spiced rum is great for $14/1.75 l.
My two favorites are the French vodka and Canadian whisky. I tried the spiced rum and didn’t like it, it lacked flavor and body. And if I had a choice of Crown Royal or kirkland CW I would choose kirkland every time.
Ive heard enough when they bad mouthed the Kirkland Gin. I LOVE the stuff!! They compared it to New Amsterdam Gin which i think is terrible. I’m not real big on Hendricks or Tanqueray either. I think the Kirkland Gin is as good as Bombay Sapphire. Sadly the nearest Costco to me is 136 miles away. Just bought a bottle of Sam’s Club (Makers Mark) gin yesterday and it taste like break fluid.

I disagree with Gin being among the worst. It is less aggressive in botanicals and makes a good mixer, especially for the price we pay for booze in Washington which has an almost 50% booze tax. With that said for $11 more I can buy both 1.75 L of Bombay Sapphire which I prefer for G&T or 1.75L of Tanqueray which is my martini gin. I also don't find the bottled strawberry or regular margarita objectionable, especially in the budget party arena and taste much better than anything mixed with Jose Cuervo, not to mention any of the other premade budget bottles from the grocery store The egg nog is not bad and better than some of the other boozy varieties. In that case you might want to go with a triple-distilled at least, to minimize the fusels and other hangover-producing stuff. Or use another commenter's idea of running through a Britta filter several times. Also stay away from wheat vodka. Even Stoly is made from wheat if it's not bottled in Russia. Also drink a lot of water, one glass per shot.
Kirkland/Costco always strive put put out a good product. However, if a product sells well then they won't change a thing because it very profitable. Must not be that bad then. I don’t remember seeing hard liquor at the Costco I go to. Mind you it’s 120 miles away (so I only go twice a year). I don’t think Costco is allowed to sell Liquor in my state (Oregon). That’s unfortunate. To be fair…. My state is making it too expensive for me to truly enjoy alcohol (which is probably a good thing) 😂 I love drinking but I can’t stand the taste of most alcohol. The stuff I like is really expensive and I’m cheap 😆 I actually want to know if the $130 bottle of “don perrion” champagne is worth getting. Someday I desperately want to splurge and sip on an amazing campaign (but no way I’m spending much more than that) to try it.
@Toni, This is true, no hard alcohol in Oregon Costco stores. I’m a life long Portlander, but recently moved across the river to Vancouver, WA. Even tho I’m only 20 minutes away from my old home, I’m still shocked to see liquor at Fred Meyer, Target, and Costco lol. It’s nice tho to not have to make an extra trip to a liquor store when I need a bottle.

I can’t speak to any of the other liquors, but crown royal is better than kirklands Canadian whiskey
Kirkland spiced rum is only $14 a bottle
@The TRY Channel I hope to see this embedded soon @3:31 lol How did they get @Clisare so well! jk
Of course there was different tasting reviews about the spiced rum... They compared a 35% watered down spiced rum to a 46% spiced rum... They should have compared sailor Jerry's spiced to the Kirkland spiced rum
I don’t remember seeing hard liquor at the Costco I go to. Mind you it’s 120 miles away (so I only go twice a year).
I don’t think Costco is allowed to sell Liquor in my state (Oregon). That’s unfortunate.
To be fair…. My state is making it too expensive for me to truly enjoy alcohol (which is probably a good thing) 😂
I love drinking but I can’t stand the taste of most alcohol. The stuff I like is really expensive and I’m cheap 😆
I actually want to know if the $130 bottle of “don perrion” champagne is worth getting.
Someday I desperately want to splurge and sip on an amazing campaign (but no way I’m spending much more than that) to try it.
They don’t sell liquor in my Cost co either. I drive from NC to SC to buy it while I at my beach house.
No e& j brandy knockoffs
E&J is already cheap😂the VSOP is very good !
We bought this same eggnog drink from safeway and it was so gross.
Who the hell is doing shots of vodka anyway?
Not only do I buy my liquor from Costco, but gasoline too.
I watched because I wanted a review not rum.
ALL COGNAC IS BRANDY!!
BUT NOT ALL BRANDY IS COGNAC !!
Why a box of Molson Canadian beer? Relevance?
because it was what started me on the path to being a beer drinker nearly 2 decades ago? lol
High balls
Is there a filter we can use on Mashed videos to remove the vocal fry from the announcers? Damn, that is annoying.
Caramel not Carmel !
I’m not buying any bottle of liquor with Kirkland on it.
AD!
Kirkland is Costco? There's only a save-a-lot near me but I've seen Kirkland products there
Yes, Kirkland is a Costco house brand.
Noooo to their cognac
Shocked they recommended this one. XO was like paint thinner.
What states can Costco sell liquor..? Ohio they do not
Most States that don't have State Controlled Liquor Stores (Ohio, NC, WY, Utah, etc) have Costcos that sell liquor. The Costcos in California, NV, KY, always have great selections.
