I just ground some light roasted beans for use with an E&B basket that requires super fine grind size, so I used almost the finest setting (1B), and this is with my 270Wi already installed with a couple of shims. The grinder stopped working after straining to grind only 4 grams and I thought I might have just killed the motor. 10 minutes later I find this video, and it turns out that with all the vibration the hopper (an aftermarket single-dose one) probably just got loose. I reseated it, and voila, my grinder is working again!
Great video, you saved my mornings!!!! The metal scoop clip was bent just enough to where it would not click when the burr was installed. Thank you so much👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wow thanks! I only knew about the hopper interlock, and totally missed the burr interlock which was broken. Your video saved me $400, I already had a new grinder on order from Amazon. Those are not relays, they are just micro switches. I just cut the wires to the switch that was broken in the burr selector area you pointed ut, (white and brown wires), and soldered them together, bypassing the switch altogether. Why would anyone put interlocks on the hopper and burr anyway? Stupid design. Thanks again for the video!
I bought a Sette 30. After using for half a month, took the burr down and cleaned it. Reattached it, it wasn't grinding. Watched the trouble shooting Baratza videos many times and followed their action. Still failed to grind. Have to return for warranty repair. I haven't get it back yet. One question is could we bypass these microswitches.
Those aren't relays, they are micro switches. If you disconnect both wires you can test the switch by checking continuity across the terminals of the micro switch. The switch should "read" closed when the hopper is in place and rotated to the proper position and "open" when it is not.. If the switch doesn't change with the position of the hopper it's time to replace the switch.
Unfortunately no, I'd double check the burrs and make sure nothing got in their unexpectedly. Outside of that I haven't had to mess with the burrs on mine before.
Yes mine is working fine. Did you check that the burr is properly installed and triggering the safety switch? Let me know what other steps you may have tried but it may be worth getting a technician.
Check the “scoop” arm under the burr housing like he showed. Mine was slightly bent to where it clicked if I pushed it with my finger but the burr housing would not cause it to engage. I used needle nose pliers to straighten it and now mine works. Hope this helps
Tried everything I could think of so far, without luck. Checked the wires, checked the hopper activates the switch, checked the micro adjuster and that clicks as well. Anyone have any other suggestions? I also checked all the circuit boards for failures and blackened areas, but everything is in pristine condition. Cheers

I got a baratza sette 270, and this morning started making loud noise when grinding, and very little coffee coming out. Any ideea what can be?

It works about 1/2 seconds and off again
