I started roasting coffee out of my laundry room in 2020 during the pandemic and had enough demand to start a coffee company. This is a collection of my thoughts about coffee gear across the industry, as well as the ins and outs of roasting coffee. Enjoy!

Baratza Sette Grinder isn't grinding (Baratza Repair)
Переглядів 16 тис.2 роки тому
My Baratza Sette 270 was counting down but not grinding. Here are the few major things to check to ensure it is working properly. Over time, the vibrations from the machine can cause the wiring to come loose, and there is also a alarm trigger to ensure the burr is properly connected. Thanks for watching and like this video if it helped!

Legend! I also just fixed mine after months of procrastinating and it was so simple. I even played with that second sensor before but never realised you had to hear a click. Thank you so much!
What if it not working at all It works about 1/2 seconds and off again
what the deal using two 2g or one 8G like they say on the site? Hows that work? And why does it say needs to sit for over an hour for nitrogen.
Thank you. Reattached the loose cable fixed my Sette 30.
Thank you. After a year of drinking instant coffee, I have decided to try another attempt to fix my barazza, and your video was a blessing. Thanks again!
I haven't used my grinder in months and you just fixed it thank you!!
Thank you, you are a legend you vid saved me 2-3 weeks buying coffees and the cost of the gearbox which i though was my issue.
Thanks my good sir, you saved my morning coffee.
Thanks! Any suggestion for the following problem? The machine starts grinding but immediately the grinder is jammed with beans and is stuck.
Ever figure out the problem?
Super helpful video, thank you! I just ground some light roasted beans for use with an E&B basket that requires super fine grind size, so I used almost the finest setting (1B), and this is with my 270Wi already installed with a couple of shims. The grinder stopped working after straining to grind only 4 grams and I thought I might have just killed the motor. 10 minutes later I find this video, and it turns out that with all the vibration the hopper (an aftermarket single-dose one) probably just got loose. I reseated it, and voila, my grinder is working again!
I bought a Sette 30. After using for half a month, took the burr down and cleaned it. Reattached it, it wasn't grinding. Watched the trouble shooting Baratza videos many times and followed their action. Still failed to grind. Have to return for warranty repair. I haven't get it back yet. One question is could we bypass these microswitches.
Great video! I’ve easily spent thousands on Starbucks and am looking to save money so buying this seems worth it if the taste is there, which everyone I’ve heard so far says it is. Thank you.
How long does it stay cold out of the fridge
Looks like body parts mixing.
what does the key ring on the spear part do?
Release nitrous when it's empty and you want to clean it
Wow thanks! I only knew about the hopper interlock, and totally missed the burr interlock which was broken. Your video saved me $400, I already had a new grinder on order from Amazon. Those are not relays, they are just micro switches. I just cut the wires to the switch that was broken in the burr selector area you pointed ut, (white and brown wires), and soldered them together, bypassing the switch altogether. Why would anyone put interlocks on the hopper and burr anyway? Stupid design. Thanks again for the video!
Thanks! Helped me a lot!
I got a baratza sette 270, and this morning started making loud noise when grinding, and very little coffee coming out. Any ideea what can be?
Unfortunately no, I'd double check the burrs and make sure nothing got in their unexpectedly. Outside of that I haven't had to mess with the burrs on mine before.
@@stargazercraftcoffee9986 thanks a lot for the reply. I took it apart, and found out the gearbox went bad, so i ordered a new one.
Thank you very much 👍 saudi arabia
Thank you!
Great tips- works again😄 Thx!
Those aren't relays, they are micro switches. If you disconnect both wires you can test the switch by checking continuity across the terminals of the micro switch. The switch should "read" closed when the hopper is in place and rotated to the proper position and "open" when it is not.. If the switch doesn't change with the position of the hopper it's time to replace the switch.
Great video, you saved my mornings!!!! The metal scoop clip was bent just enough to where it would not click when the burr was installed. Thank you so much👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Having the same problem with mine 😢. How much did it cost you to do the repair?
Tried everything I could think of so far, without luck. Checked the wires, checked the hopper activates the switch, checked the micro adjuster and that clicks as well. Anyone have any other suggestions? I also checked all the circuit boards for failures and blackened areas, but everything is in pristine condition. Cheers
Check the “scoop” arm under the burr housing like he showed. Mine was slightly bent to where it clicked if I pushed it with my finger but the burr housing would not cause it to engage. I used needle nose pliers to straighten it and now mine works. Hope this helps
@@channinghatcher8580 thank you so much for the suggestion. I was about to give up.
Honestly, for me it was just making sure it's locked. 10 second fix -thanks!
Same
Amazing, thanks for sharing the whole process!
Is it hard to fit this in the refrigerator? I feel like it would be too tall for mine
My fridge has adjustable shelves so I've made it work by adjusting the shelf height. It's not overly tall but may not fit on the standard shelf distribution
I am at you stage mate. Timer is going, wires are good, but no grinding. Have you solved the issue?
Yes mine is working fine. Did you check that the burr is properly installed and triggering the safety switch? Let me know what other steps you may have tried but it may be worth getting a technician.
Check the motor power wires if they are not lose. I had this kind of issue.

Wife bought one for me today. It came with no canisters but I'm hoping to try this put with my alcohol infused coffee beans that I roast
Worked like a charm! Thank you!
Have you tried the N2 instead of NO2? I heard it tastes better and I think some of the chained coffee shops use N2 to create a better texture foam.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi, I’m wondering if this could be used for beer dispensing as well. I don’t know the difference
Abhi, I would not recommend trying with beer. It may work, but I am not aware of how well the beer would keep in the tank, and also the introduction of nitrogen may affect the taste. Probably best to only use cold brew coffee
@@stargazercraftcoffee9986 Thanks for the response.
You can easily crank your finished product up a notch in quality by weighing your coffee and water instead of "measuring" it. Weight is much more precise and produces consistent repeatable results. I use 60 grams of coffee for one liter of water, filtered water that is. Try it, an OXO digital scale is cheap and does the job well.
Son just gave me one for birthday. Nice video. Really appreciate it. First batch is chilling in the fridge!
At what point can you add sugar to it?
If you want to add sugar I would only do it after you pour it into a cup to drink it.
Thank you for that! Mine didn't dispense the coffee as quickly. What was the weight of your nitrogen chargers?
Josh, offhand I am not sure, but the link in the description are the chargers that I bought off of amazon. (they are not an affiliate link/I do not get paid on it, just put it there to share with the viewing audience).
good intro video man. thanks for posting.

Thank you for your excellent review! Great interpretation of how to use our product, for all folks reading please note when tightening the top onto the keg, it is best not to overtighten this piece as doing so will make it difficult to remove as mentioned in the vid, we suggest stopping the turn before "death grip" as the O Ring on the Keg's lip will do the rest of the sealing itself, rather than needing to be death grip tightened on, doing that will also cause the nut on the underside (the nut is where plastic tube connects) to loosen over time (which is not a big problem since you can tighten with the wrench as needed..but still!) To the author: this video was pretty much flawless and awesome for us to see considering you are a real customer and this was unsolicited!
