Thank you for including all the scores and not only the standard and extended scores. Please use a darker and lighter color for the lines so it's easier to read the line and you can use the title line for i.e Davinci version and Puget bench version since the info is the same for all cards that you tested. Hopefully this will make the charts easier to read and navigate. Huge thanks to Matt Bach from Puget for being responsible for all these changes! Keep up the good work and Happy New Year!🎉

You only talk about speed, but the VRAM provided with the 3090 usually makes it the second best option for 3D-rendering, imo. Seconded to only the 4090. Sure, the other 40 series cards are faster as well, but the 16 or 12 GB VRAM is quite a lot less than the 24GB for the 3090.

AMAZING work! I would love to see the AMD Radeon Pro and Nvidia RTX professional cards added to this mix. They are engineered differently and (supposedly) are meant for professional creator work. They come in at extremely high prices when compared to the consumer cards tested here. Big question: Are they really worth it to creators?

    • @TheAmazingCowpig
      @TheAmazingCowpig 4 місяці тому

Radeon Pro and Quadro/RTX cards are easily the true champions of productivity... but anyone buying them is either an actual production studio with the money to do so, or a private/small creator studio that already knows that it's exactly what they need.
Basically, if you have to ask, it's not for you, and it would kind of be a little pointless to test for a more general audience.

    Nice work!!!
I work with Blender, and recently upgraded from a 4060TI to a 4080, and I noticed the HUGE improvement. Render times about 3 times faster.
Scenes where I used to take 1 hour and a half to complete, being done in less than 30 minutes
NVidia is indeed the best for 3D applications. There's pretty much not even a competition for it with these cards.

Would u say a 4060 is great for starting out to learn blender and use it for like 2-5 years? Coming from a 2017 MacBook Pro so I hope for this pc upgrade to last a while. Also do I really need that much of speed for blender considering I’m literally starting from the donuts tut here on yt? I don’t know what these numbers mean in practice at all so hearing insight from people who actually have used or is using the gpus im considering is helpful for me. If u also have other Gpu recommendations around the price point of the 4060 im very open and I work mainly with Adobe suite and just CSP. And if I do go with 4060, will the 8gb be enough or should I try to go for the 16GB if I can? I was eyeing for the Asus dual rtx 4060 oc 8gb but im learning about these vram stuff and it affects vid editting. But again im coming from a 2017 MacBook Pro with a broken battery so any upgrade should suffice.
*I was adviced to stick to nvidia since it’s better for a lot of Adobe based work, which is what I do

@@ppsycho8750 3d artist here! from what i know, adobe and CSP doesnt use much GPU VRAM they are more like CPU bound, RAM, and cuda core. and yes the benchmark u see in the video about adobe is more likely to cuda core performance not GPU VRAM, while CSP is using cpu and ram and not related to GPU VRAM, so u dont have to worry about it. but since u wanna try blender, if you have limitation to budget i recommend to buy 4060 ti 16gb. currently one of best budget content creator card who want high vram on low price. but if you have no limit or higher limit on budget then take 4070 12gb or 4080 16 gb. if you want to start blender, minimun vram is 8 gb depend on how big 3d scene you created. pair it with 8 core cpu, 32 gb ram and gpu of your choice. then you will find heaven to your work station

There's some value in a charts like these but we know that the 4090 & 7900xtx were going to be at the top. What is more important is the price for that level of performance! Bar charts are easy but showing a scatter plot with $ on the X and performance on the Y would be the best chart no other creator is using! Do I even notice the difference between a 92.45% 2060 super and a 100% 3090ti? My wallet will!

I feel like if users have 8k raw workflows, they need any 24GB card between the 3090, 4090 and XTX.
For 8k h265 workflows, the 24GB VRAM of those cards would still be useful.
For 4k workflows, things have gotten so much easier, even in Raw, that you can buy a 60 class GPU, and get reliable speeds. But getting as much VRAM and GPU compute as possible is always a good idea, for effects. And the 70 class cards seem to have double media engines, which can help export times.
For raw workflows, going threadripper is a good idea, but not necessary unless you’re doing 8k workflows.
For non-raw workflows, especially those using 422 codecs, you’ll want an Intel quicksync capable cpu, and then you’ll need to choose the appropriate card for the resolution you’re working at - 8-16GB for 4K. And 16-24GB for 8K
And your CPU can easily have PL1 at 125W and be within a margin of error to the 250W tunings for creator workflows. So there’s no need for water cooling - save your money!
And if you’re using Photoshop exclusively, just get an affordable card!
Alternatively, just buy an m3 Max or M2 Ultra, depending on what resolution you’re working at

I love your content and i think you are one of the most honest benchmark channels out there, moreso when you take stuff like idle power draw when every big channel glosses over it when it's a pretty big deal, but please stop using the standard blender benchmarks, at least going forward, because as a blender user and as of current blender versions, it's not reflecting what most of the cards truly do, chose a scene, like classroom as a .blend file, and from there use the same scene for all the gpu's, because the benchmark it's not only pretty old, but it's not using hip-rt on amd side.
Nvidia still takes the crown in blender, but it shows quite a huge disparity when the XTX goes from perfoming like a 3070/3070ti to a 3090 in blender just by enabling hip-rt with cycles.

Hi Tech Notice. Thanks for another fun video to watch. I always look for your videos because you are probably the only one that ever mentions "Lightroom Classic". What I would like to see from you, since you have aaaaall those GPUs and you seem to use Lightroom Classic, is a video where you don't only say "you don't need a high end GPU for Lightroom classic". What I would like to see from you is a video dedicated more to users that do use Lightroom Classic showing actual differences showing actual results (in seconds) showing the differences for importing/exporting, AI Denoise/Enhance features. I mean, there has to be (some) advantages and differences among different GPUs when it comes down to performance. Again, showing us actual times, not percentages. And what about the new 40 series SUPER cards, are they no good, are there any better advantages in performance or are we better off buying older used cards? Can you compare the new cards to a RTX 3070Ti or 3080? It would be really interesting to see a video like that. Thanks.

Just the video I was looking for! Awesome work! 👍🏻 I'm just wondering, is it possible I'm Software-Bottlenecked? I am using the Ryzen 3950x all cores 4.3 GHz steady, but After Effects rarely ever uses more than 33% to 50% of CPU. I am using an older RTX 2060 KO Ultra with 6 GB of VRAM, but that usually stays between 2 GB and 4 GB of use. I have 128 GB of RAM, and it takes a little while for After Effects to use it up. I edit very short social media clips at 1920p vertical, usually 10 to 30 seconds long, usually only a handful of layers. Nothing to complain on lag. It's very smooth and faster than realtime. Sometimes though when it's prerendering the timeline or even in Media Encoder, it's slower than real time, but again, it's not using 100% of CPU, GPU, or RAM by a long shot. Drives are 2-4 GB/s m.2. Another strange thing...last week editing a simple video, it was much faster at full resolution than when I switched it to 50%. It's mostly great, but if you have any ideas on the anomalies, love to learn more!

I'll be learning DaVinci Resolve and maybe some other creator applications during 2024, so this is useful information for me. Speed in not a critical factor for me. Sure Nividia cards perform better in most of these applications--they're designed around Nvidia GPUs. But I'm very hesitant in the current market to but ANY Nvidia GPU no matter what performance and features they provide.

I want to upgrade my system (gtx980 8gb) with as cheap as posssible Gpu. I just want to improve render times and real time effects and transitions on Davinci Resolve Studio. I can get 2nd hand RTX 2060 super for about 200€, or 2080 for a bit more. It will be better than a rtx 4060 8gb ? 4060 will cost more than 350€. Rtx 3060ti or 3070 are cheap as well, about 250€. What would you recomend me.

10:55 thank you. I've officially decided to run 2 cards. Will get the a770 first and that will focus mainly on my Photoshop & Premiere Pro work loads, test out AI on it, then the ProArt 4060 Ti (OR THE MSI EXPERT 4070 Ti Super, BEAUTIFUL CARD) for AI/ML, Unreal Engine and more graphic intensive work... and if I feel to game a bit. I won't upgrade that until a PCIe card is out, I assume the RTX 50 series should be, but my rule is to jump a generation before upgrading... so maybe 60 series I upgrade.

26:15 I thought so too until i saw the MSI EXPERT!!! And this benchmark made me realize that the ProArt 4060 Ti doesn't make sense from a performance standpoint. If you getting a ProArt card, get 4080 up. The 3 months free Adobe CC subscription from ProArt is what gives it massive value though.

Zotac really bring it home this year, they are always get the bests scores and i think it's the board design mostly and the cooling is really solid. Other than that the Noctua is solid in quiet and long renders it has the most potential to appeal to people who actually pushing GPU ALL DAY, and the last one is the Pro Art and that is just phenomenal easy dual slot for 3D RENDERS even 2 4060ti with 16GB will give a really good boost not even mentioning the 4080. Man...what a load of choices...But my situation gets even WORSE, as I have a Intel i7 6850K 3.6ghz(stock , never OCed yet) with 64GB ram. I WAS using the GTX 970 card with only 4GB of ram, BUT I do zero gaming, maybe a tiny bit like 2-9% video edits(never 8K, barely 4K)...All Lightroom Classic and Photoshop CS6 (maybe slave-grade to cloud if it is significantly faster).
CRAZY thing is , I watched your earlier video just yesterday and purchased a RTX 3060 OC(I have 30 days to return). Wondering what the biggest change and improvement I can make so I am not frustrated with Lightroom & Photoshop editing speeds.(?) (I have even made multiple catalogs so they are not so large and heavy.

On blender, have you checked the actual render times on these GPUs ? They speak very differently than the open data benchmarks for blender which tells us samples per minute. AMD goes way too close to Nvidia's than the 7900XTX we are seeing equal to RTX 4060Ti.

Those test results would suggest only HIP was used. Probably Optix for Nvidia, too. Blender 3.6 min. should be used to test them all - HIP-RT only works in Windows right now - dunno how well - waiting to find current reviews/benchmarks of it.

Nice video! Just one thing that makes your charts hard to read is the way the GPU names are layed out. It should be the GPU model first, then the brand.
The way it's written here is very hard to follow:
    ASUS TUF RTX 4090 OC
    Noctua RTX 4080 OC
    Zotac RTX 4070ti AMP AIRO
    etc...
It would be much easier to read like this:
    RTX 4090 - ASUS TUF 4090 OC
    RTX 4080 - Noctua OC
RTX 4070ti - Zotac AMP AIRO
    etc...
