@@michalddddddddd I don't have first hand knowledge but have heard this multiple times recently when researching gpu for photo/video editing. From what I was hearing is that if you have 2 comparable gpu gaming wise that the amd will preform worse in other scenarios in generall and that is been seen with multiple video editing software a significant difference in performance and that this is because amd has done alot of software optimization with gaming but just isn't on the same level for other things. Hope that helps mlaybe others can share personal input. I was dissapointed by this as I was leaning towards a rx580 or a more budget friendly rx 570 but ended up putchasing a used gtx 1070 for a steal the other day🙂 so not too bummed after all.

Big thing to consider for 3D is, the rendering software you are using, which hardware utilization does it offer? Some offer good GPU utilization, some offer only CPU usage (for example Corona Render for C4D that I use), and some software can make use of a cpu+gpu combination. Also, can it use Cuda cores, RT cores, etc?
Basically figure out what your specific software(s) make best use of, and taylor your build to that.

well, u can't go wrong with a fast mid range cpu + standard ram + nVidia RTX, I guess only Hollywood renders on 64 core Threadrippers cause they can just afford that, or their render farms can.

      @Real_MisterSir Рік тому

Not getting enough VRAM or to many fans is a good thing. LOL. What is wrong with three fans. More cooling at low fan speed LOL. It’s all personal preference and all modern GPU’s will do the work even edit on an RX570 8GB if you only use CapCut. But it’s rare for a true video creator to do this full time and pay 3k in bills every month from just working as a video editor. But most people are amateurs LOL

    Nice piece of advice !
I’d like to add the following, especially for 3D people out there doing GPU rendering :
Maybe Consider getting a blower-style rtx card instead of an open-air 3fan design or Founder Edition.
Yes blower are (much) harder to find.
Yes they run louder BUT :
-your whole system will have much better thermals since all the hot gpu air is going to be directly exhausted by the card whereas a FE or a 3fan will recycle most, if not all of it inside the case. I have a 3 fan MSI gaming X trio 3090 and I can assure you NO air at all is being exhausted through the rear IO, ALL the hot air is recycled in the case.
This does also mean that the “fresh” air cooling down your cpu is actually going to be the hot air from the gpu…. not always ideal…. manageable with a single gpu, but if you go multiple gpu it can become a problem.
-because they are 2 slots cards and not 3, if your power supply and your case can take it you could run 2 cards more easily or even 3 (I had 3 blowers in my previous build, 2x 2080ti 1x 3090 in a phanteks case upgraded with noctua fans, worked like a charm).
This means the “ultimate” 19k threadripper pro 3D rendering workstation could even have been…. “ultimate-er” with 3 video cards ;) ^^
Of course Your motherboard layout needs to allow it as well (I’m building a Z690 system with 3 gpus and it’s a nightmare).

I got a screaming deal on a RTX 3080 like 75% off the regular price used and I found out why. It jus goes blank screen occasionally for a few seconds randomly. Now, for me I'm ok with it. I wish the guy would have been honest and told me the truth as he did not. But I just built this PC to do all my old home videos. I am not gaming with this PC. Even if i was, it does not happen often enough to be a huge problem but and I paid at such a deep discount I feel it was almost worth it. sometimes I can be using it for hours at a time and it never happens and it doesn't effect my home videos at all either. I am just saying, there is a higher price you pay when buying used and to some people this would be unacceptable.

You mentioned the media engines inside integrated graphics, good point.
I know this is for creators, but it's still funny.
Video editing is so niche, very few people actually do that.
If I were to edit videos often, I'd just use an iPhone or something with monster media capabilities. A 3090 is for massive 3d scenes with particles, volumetrics, path tracing, not for video editing lol.

I honestly think the 3080 (at original MSRP) is like the best bang for buck if you are into 3d, video editing and other visual software, with some great gaming as a benefit. AMDs new offerings are nice, but they need to invent something similar to CUDA, cause the benefits for rendering and for other software like Adobe CC suite is just too much too overlook. And the 3080 definitely is a good buy even if the new generation is just on the horizon, should last you quite a while.

It's the connector thats rated for 150W on Pcie not the cable, how much power the cable can carry depends on it's diameter. Decent PSU's will have cables capable of delivering 300W no problem. The real problem occurs when you get power supplies that are multi rail garbage and might, for e.g, claim to be 600W but have 4 150W rails. Thats when trying to pull, say 200W from a single rail causes a problem.
Get a single rail power supply that produces the full claimed power on its +12V rail, has a 5 year warranty or better, and is 80 plus bronze or better, and you wont go to far wrong.

If you dont want to upgrade for a long time than wait for the new upcoming cards. It is a bit of a gamble because you don't know if history will repeat itself but you should get more performance for your money if you wait. Theoretically.

      Take Into consideration:
The newer cards will have a larger power draw when working. The manufacturer may not have drivers ready for the style of work you are creating because the cards are so new. Last gen cards price will drop accordingly to save you money which would be better utilized on ram cpu and faster hard drive.

Not. But you have to know how many watts the cableslot in the psu delivers to the parts you want to power.

month-late, but in case you haven't gotten an answer yet: igpu stands for Integrated Graphics Processing Unit and is a GPU that is built into your CPU (so any non-F Intel Core CPUs)

This was good information, however I was looking and hoping for a specific piece. Is there one card or another that is better with one piece of software or another?
Case in point, Nvidia better with BlackMagic, or AMD better was Premier? Whatever the scenario, which card of these brands is better with which piece of software?

It’s all personal preference. Any modern GPU will do the work and most are amateur editors like me. And it’s rare for a video editor to make more than 3k a month to pay the bills. People today barely have 300-600 to spend freely LOL. I can do it al with my 730$ 7900x or just as well as an RX570 8GB. If you’re not a full time pro don’t spend more than 300$. It’s not worth it because you won’t ever see that return if you’re just an amateur. 98% we all are.

A high quality PSU with thicker cables shouldn't have issues with even with 200W (combined) going through.
If you have been using this system for over a year and nothing has melted yet, you'll probably be fine.

@@peppa1492 I have a Corsair cx750m with an MSI RTX 2080TI and it's been set up like this for almost 2 years. Obviously, I don't know much about computers. Had a friend set this one up for me. I think I can change it to two cables. I've been just using it for editing very basic videos.

@@jayfalkus RTX 2080Ti usually used around 250W. It can draw up to 75W from the PCIe slot. That's approximately 25W over the rated spec, not a big deal.
This setup is fine, although I wouldn't necessarily do any crazy overclocking with it.

    • @jayfalkus
      @jayfalkus 2 роки тому

@@peppa1492 Yeah I haven't overclocked at all. Watched a couple videos on that but just haven't tried yet. I looked up mu 2080 ti and it says 300W. I'm going to look at it tomorrow and see if I can just swap the cables. After watching a ton of videos on it first haha.

  • @rtyler1869

For me it is not the video editing performance that I bought my 3080TI for, but the gaming with high frame rates and pretty pictures. The video editing is a nice bonus though
