Collecting the toys from your childhood is about recapturing a moment from your childhood. It transports you back to that time for a moment. That feeling is priceless.
@darthsmoke76, I agree 1000 percent. Have said it numerous times on certain channels I watch, and is also a reason when I pick up any retro Star Wars or Joe classified I keep em in the packages. Just reminds me of seeing it in stores as a kid. That leads to more memories (getting the as gifts, saving up from mowing lawns to buy em myself, carrying a GI Joe Airborne figure around in my back pack for a week in third grade, so proud that I had earned money shoveling snow and was able to buy that figure for my friend Seth’s birthday party that weekend. List goes on. Certain toys take me back in time same as old movies or songs do. That’s mostly why I collect, that and meeting other collectors my age and rehashing old toy stories. They are usually not as crazy as rehashing old war stories with my army or cop buddies, but I enjoy those memories just as much if not more.
@ToyAttics, vintage Star Wars figures and playsets, GI Joe 82-87ish, vintage He Man (I never had those, my neighbor had all of em so we always played with his, loved the artwork on the boxes in the stores for the vehicles and playsets for He Man), Secret Wars, Black Star (I received a few of these as gifts from an aunt), A Team figures, early TMNT (my younger brother had them, I watched the cartoon with him before school and had managed to get some Eastman and Laird issues). There are more but those are the main ones. I have to check this shop out, Charlotte is not a super far drive. Toy Fed is an hour plus for me (I have told you in a past video that I made that wooden stormtrooper holding the toy Fed sign for them). Hell, I made wooden caricatures of He Man and Skeletor after that, and the cartoon theme was stuck in my head for a few weeks! Saw you filming at Retro Toy Con Saturday of the show, would have said hello, and nice job but you were filming and I rather would not interrupt that.
Wow!!! I didn't know you guys came to Charlotte. You guys were up the street from me. Nice tour. I go in Rebel Base a lot and I didn't really know the sections of that store until now. Thanks for your work and passion!!
"If you're looking for some GI Joe you're not gonna find a better place than here." "Do you have Scoop?" "Uh... we have not gotten it yet....." 🤣🤣🤣 That was brutal!
I found you from Retro Slacker's recommendation! What an awesome channel! This store is great! As with the manager, my prized toy is the Shogun Godzilla as well! Too many awesome toys to call out in this store but love the tour.
Agree 100% with Michael. I was exactly 40 when I got back into toys. All because of _The Force Awakens_ - remember when Star Wars fans were (mostly) happy? What a time to be alive! But yeah, it's all about childhood toys for me, roughly 1978-1985. Keen to see Michael's Spidey collection, sounds pretty epic. Epic weight loss, too. He's spot on about the Spiderman costume. It's pretty unforgiving. Shout out to the dudes at cons who give zero f's and strut dat ass no matter what shape they're in. Gotta pick up _Something is Killing the Children_ trades one day - just love the title...
My Grail collectible toy would be a mint on card first edition He Man action figure. I had a few MOTU action figures as a kid and I returned to toy collecting in my 40s. I still have not owned my very own He Man because it is so expensive now, even in used condition is very expensive. I collect, of course, He Man & MOTU, Gi.Joe, Blackstar & TMNT. I have a weakness for robots like Mazinger Z, Tetsujin 28 and many other robots from the 70s n 80s. I also like ThunderCats and some of the more obscure or less popular action figure toy lines from the 80s. These toy lines which names I’ve forgotten, yes I need to do more research, were great even though the didn’t sell as much as the more popular ones. Thank you for this video & please, keep them coming. It’s good to find these amazing toy stores where you can just get lost in a world of nostalgia as soon as you enter them. You feel like a kid as soon as you look at the walls stacked with all the vintage gems that made your childhood so happy.
@@PassiveParticipant It used to be 75% yams in frame in his thumbnails before people started calling him out for it 🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣. Real "M'lady fedora" energy from this guy.
Commented a reply before getting to watch the video. Michael loves what he does, pretty cool to not “work” at your job. Be worth the trip there just to shoot the breeze with him while looking for something to purchase.
I’d go to this shop for the toys but I’d stay and come back many times over because of this store manager Michael and his easy ability to share and sell. What a great fit for him and the store. That store owner “Troy” is extremely lucky to have this store Manager Michael. I’m really glad Kim let Michael talk. She’s so good at this and getting better. I like the banter between Kim and the camera man (channel owner). Please please please show the cases with the most popular vintage toy lines up close, slow well lit clear b role while they’re touring. Showing everything and showing nothing is frustrating. Showing them talking the whole time isn’t great. The toys like MOTU, MASK, GI Joe, Star Wars, etc the greatest toys they’ve got show them slowly and up close so we the viewers can see. Ed’s Retro Geek Out, Leicester Toys, Not Another Retro Channel, Froggy Flips, give us first person footage. This will take this channel to next level.
Gen Xer's grew up during the golden age of toys where TV and toys merged and were not a past time but life. As latch key kids, whether we were outside ripping the streets with our skateboards or dirt bikes, or playing with our toys as we watched our favorite cartoons eating a bowl of cereal. We had the life! Our parents laid the law down and left us alone this generation will never understand. This is why we reach back for our childhood! 🤌🏾
@ToyAttics honestly the sets I want weren't there. I would love the sets for Bucky O'hare and Jace and the wheeled warriors. Probably not in huge demand but I loved the cartoons. Appreciate ya replies team🤝✌️
Do you Agree with what Michael said?

I totally agree, I started collecting at 45. I am definitely getting things that I could not afford when I was younger.
Well he talked straight for the entire episode without stopping. Could you be a little more specific?
