    It's pretty hard to fault a delay that, 1. Is designed and built by Yuki Hayashi, 2. Sounds as good as good as this, 3. Features uber-cool functionality along with some new twists. The FTT Flight Time delay has been worth the wait. It's the business.
    • 9999 ms total delay time.
    • 20 secs of hold and record time.
    • BPM analyser that will correct your playing to within a 20% threshold of the tapped time.
    • BPM or millisecond time display.
    • Tons of subdivision options.
    • Delay Time Offset to pull or push your delay.
    • Plenty of MIDI capability.
    And point No.1: It sounds gorgeous.
    I'm going to go out on a limb here and disclose something I know to be fact: Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities in the world to live, work or play in. To live and work there is almost a privilege. For entrepreneurs like Yuki Hayashi and his dedicated Free The Tone team it's a balancing act between delivering the supreme quality they strive for and making enough profit to live, work and carry on the business. The sell price for the Flight Time is somewhat of a test for them because I know their margin is perilously low - for you. Basically, they're trying to offer a supreme product at an affordable price while still keeping their heads above water. I hope they do. They deserve to because their product is way above average.
    I'm telling you this not because I want you to rush out and buy the Flight Time, but because I'm trying to convey the hurdle of economics in that part of the world. I'm pretty sure the Flight Time will be on the streets worldwide for around US$430 or so, which, considering its feature set, isn't bad at all. You decide. This one, at least, will be appearing on my next Boardom video. It will be bolted, literally, to the board.
    I love the Flight Time. Well done, Yuki.

    Hi Brett, thank you for the very nice demo video. The production model is much better than prototype which you played in Shanghai as you know:) Enjoy with the FLIHGT TIME!

    In the words of Brett, "WOW!" Such an amazing delay pedal. I have to admit, I was totally blown away by your Cornet Noel demo so I bought one. Now this is on the radar. Thanks for the stellar demos Brett. Cheers.

    I just talked myself into getting a Strymon El Capistan, but this might make me consider digital delay again. As always, you're reviews are some of the best out there.

    • @theeltea
      @theeltea 9 років тому

      Isn't El Capistan digital as well, or you mean the algo?

    • @mrbigaxe
      @mrbigaxe 9 років тому

      The magic inside the El Capistan is digital, but the output is designed to sound as if you are playing through a tape delay, with all the relevant nuances and abilities.

    O.M.G. That Noel Cornet has got to be, the Best ( and most articulate, least fizzy ) Muff / Fuzz - I have ever heard. It just Sounds Phenomenal, every time I hear you Play-that-thing. It's very David Gilmour. Brett your Pedal Collection has got to be Incredible. Appreciate another well done & Informative Video. - Michael Caz - NYC -

      Yeah, the Noel Cornet is easily the best Muff pedal I owned or have tried. Unfortunately they are also almost unobtainium. If you're after one, contact Jason at Ishibishi Music in Tokyo as he knows the builder.

    I love the fact that they put the little tags in the corners of the boxes with labels like "Brand", "Product No", "Product Name", and "Up" "Down". Cheeky cute. ;-) Great playing and very impressive review.. you obviously did the unthinkable.. read the manual. ;-) I'll have to try that some day. Nah.. who am I kidding? Cheers from Dallas!!

    Sounds nice! Does the mix go 100% wet on this without using the kill dry feature? It's not clear from the manual how the "delay level" works and where unity is compared to the input?

    ***** trying to decide if I should sell my Timeline and get this or the Pigtronix Echolution2 Deluxe. My biggest gripe with the Timeline is it's WAY too tweakable for my uses and does sound slightly thin. Do you find it easy to use? Worth the switch?

    Brett, How does the quality of the FT2 digital delay ( 2290 type ) compare to the Providence Chrono 4 ? I don't need the midi capability just the clean digital delay and presets for setting up digital delay with ms and BPM display and programming. Both running on 12V and built by the same company, I thought it is worth asking you the question. No doubt the FT1 sounds terrific, and the FT2 will sound pristine. thanks for you advice, cheers

      The Providence is good enough for Davey Gilmour so...

    i'd love to give this a go but, as others have stated, the interface is a turn off... and then no stereo ins and outs is a bummer

      douebleu i will say though that the complete lack of menus is a plus

  • @GuitarsAndSynths

    How does it compare to the less expensive Strymon Timeline and Eventide Time Factor/H9?

  • @bloodySunday77
    @bloodySunday77 9 років тому

    It's a pity for such a great sound to be achievable and tweaked by such a horrible and counterproductive interface. It takes ages to get things where you want them, you have no visual indication of where you left most of your other parameters, and worst of all the presets changing is just a huge fail.
    Now I know this has something of a rack-in-a-pedal concept, and that in order for it to be fully explored it needs an extra midi footswitch controller, but this means spending even more money, pedalboard real estate and effort to make all of it work.
    Bring this up against the competition that offers you tons of options and a good interface that's perfectly playable right out of the box (Timeline, Empress Superdelay, Timefactor, Echolution 2 etc) and you start to realise how this one just doesn't work very well.
