해금 (haegeum) is both an instrument (the one you hear in the beginning and then also in the background - a traditional Korean string instrument played with a bow that's kinda like a standing fiddle) and also means to lift a ban (and based on the lyrics, fits perfectly (wbk he's a genius)) HBD!!🎉
haegeum is a ancient korean bow instrument that sounds create various feeling and attitudes when played. the lyrics to this song are intense and he is giving us all the message to wake up, fight against the unjust machine and to free ourselves from the madness. this mv was a continuation of deachwita and its story line. the whole album is fantastic💜
I love how this is kinda set up like diss track, but instead of tackling something superficial like haters but instead society as a whole Some lines I really liked “Freedom of expression could be the reason of someone's death. Could you still consider that freedom?” “Slaves to hatred and prejudice.” “Opinion's clearly split depending on what's to gain.” We see this in the ever increasing polarization of society all around the world “Don't get swept away by this tsunami of info.” The ability to keep updated on news 24/7 exposes us to much negativity which in turn can negatively impact your mental health, but it also exposes us to misinformation by parties trying to push certain agendas “This song's simply about freeing what's forbidden.” I love how he gives us his perspective on modern society, sure there are some lyrics bashing on haters like the youtube bar you joked about, but the core message is so much more important
Oh for sure which is why I really wanted to sit with the song and process it because I could see just from the inital viewing he was tackling some heavy stuff
In the countdown before this dropped, Yoongi said that we should watch the MVs for Daechwita, Haegeum and AMYGDALA in one sitting! I can't wait to find out what story he's telling with these 3 songs.💜
The instrument is a Haegum -he wrote the beat around the same time that he wrote Daechwita and he recommends listening to Daechwita, Haegum and Amygdala in one sitting to understand AGUSTD. The haegeum is a traditional Korean string instrument, resembling a vertical fiddle with two strings; derived from the ancient Chinese xiqin. It has a rodlike neck, a hollow wooden soundbox, and two silk strings, and is held vertically on the knee of the performer and played with a bow
it also means lifting a ban - so lyrically that's what he's saying but he's also incorporated the instrument as well. So many freakin' layers and beautiful artistry. And the message is deep. Can't wait for his next video which he said should be watched in order -- Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala - and in one sitting. This is a freaking movie!!!!
Happy birthday! And it's storming in Texas also! Everything ties together with Daechwita! He leans out of a car window in Daechwita also! The eye scar, the thwarted execution, shooting the King (in Daechwita)/mob boss here.
I listened to the album just now, the MV stunned me so I couldn't really process the song. The album is AWESOME, but 5 songs are playlist bound: AMYGDALA, SDL, Interlude: Dawn, Snooze and Life Goes On. I'm glad you got this amazing B-Day gift co-ink-e-dink. Put a needle on the record, worth the wait.
Thank you! And I appreciate that! The song is called PRINCE & it's on my channel as well as all streaming services in case you're interested in hearing it in full.
The word"Haegeum" has a double meaning. On one side, it’s a traditional Korean string instrument that he uses for the track but it also means "“allowing/unlocking something that was forbidden” or lifting a prohibition.
Haegeum" is a traditional 2 string instrument from Korea. But it also mean something like "lift a ban" or" remove prohibition" That's why the lyrics are about freedom vs self indulgence and protest/riot or revolt. To me this is the story i get from the video. This is the king and Agust D from Daechwita reincarnated to the present. The king is again gained power being a high ranking corrupt police officer (as he is leaving the police station the other cops solute him indicating high rank) But at the end Agust D once again out smarted the cop by laying a trap by getting the king's men to turn on him/by replacing them with his own men. It could also be that he was an undercover/rogue cop because he got a lift in a cop car in the end😅😅
Happy Birthday!!!!! 😘 A haegeum is a 2 string fiddle. Very traditional used in royal court and also for Madang nori. I think we'll have to wait for what he means exactly. ( Edit: have since found out it means to lift a ban, like in court. So to basically regain one's freedom. Which is so consistent with his lyrics of not truly having free speech) Parts totally reminded me of The Dark Knight and Joker. I love it🔥🔥🔥 😘💜🫰🏻
Hi. This is my take on this. The king from daechwita and Agustd got reincarnated in the present. The king still remains to be a powerful individual in the present. This can be seen when he was coming out of the police station. The police office at the door saluted to him. Agustd in the present seems to be an undercover cop. At first you would think that he's a bad guy but as the mv progresses, you will see that he laid a trap for the reincarnated king. At the end of the video, Agustd was able to defeat the reincarnated king (who is now a corrupt high ranking officer) just like what happened in daechwita. I assumed that the reincarnated king was corrupt because he got pissed when Agustd burned the money he took from the reincarnated king's people. Another proof that Agustd has the role of an undercover cop is the scene at the last part of the mv. He was in a police car but was free to get off of it to eat at a restaurant. Therefore, he is not being arrested but escorted. As for the song, the words used were very good. I guess he was trying to say that our society is filled with hypocrisy, greed, and jealousy. People only support and believe in things that would benefit them. Our society frowns upon a lot of things (therefore the term forbidden was used). I guess Agustd is saying that it is okay to do such things as long you don't overindulge and hurt others. The real evil people are those like the reincarnated king who use their money or/and influence to benefit themselves even to the point that they are causing harm to society. In the end Agustd killed the reincarnated king and was supported by the people in scene. I guess Agustd was implying that through his own means (maybe through his songs and good deeds) he will try to fight injustice with the help of the people who agree with his beliefs. Well , that was how I interpreted everything, but I maybe wrong. LOL. As for the song, I soooooo love it.
Happy birthday 💜. Also my theory about the MV is that He is a gangster who stole money, and the money he stole was actually Cop Agust D's money. The guy in the beginning of the video that was making a call while Gangster Agust D was raiding the place was Cop Agust D. That's why he was on a phone call walking out of the police station. The reason why Gangster Agust D burnt the money was because it was Cop Agust D money. But seeing the ending ,I'm guessing it's dirty money. That's why Cop Agust D was mad when Gangster Agust D burnt the money and pushed his head in the water. Seeing how Cop Agust D had henchmen. Probably indicates he is a corrupt cop. And seeing that the henchmen never killed Gangster Agust D after shooting Cop Agust D, means that they were never the Cops henchmen instead they were under Gangster Agust D. To me the MV seems like suga is short corruption and hate. The Corrupt Cop could be corrupt people in high end places or people who hate others or hate Bts . And the henchmen in the end might depict Army . Also if I'm not mistaken the setting in the end looks like one of the places from Daechwita. But I could be wrong🤗 It's just a theory!!
So I will answer your question bc I didn't saw anyone to answer but maybe someday on trivia nights it will come up 😋 Mafia, mob, gang, yakuza, triada (china)- in korea Jo-pok, you call organization jopok, there are of course different name for different status in gang, but like you call simply in yakuza - yakuza members you can use jopok members also simply like that and general hierarchy, (but in movies or popculture you will hear kkangpae as korean gang members).
As a fellow geek, I think you would probably like Jeff Satur's Dum Dum (ua-cam.com/video/xjh-mb9IuzU/v-deo.html). It feels like another Joker reference (Suicide Squad Version). Honestly, I adore all of his music. He created his own studio (Studio on Saturn). All of his music is so pretty. If you ever get the chance, I would highly recommend the songs 'Why Don't You Stay' (either Thai or English version), and FADE (English version). Those are exquisite. Anyway, thank you so much for your review! I totally freaked out when I saw this MV! XD
